Authorities say the fire at the building on Doremus Avenue in Newark started around 5:15 p.m. Monday. Flames were seen shooting from the roof and thick, black smoke poured into the air.

Witnesses reported hearing an explosion shortly before the fire began. But authorities say the cause of the fire has not been determined.

Authorities say the three injured people were being treated at hospitals, but further details on their conditions were not disclosed.
