PASSAIC, N.J. (AP) — One man was killed and two others were wounded in what authorities say may have been a botched armed robbery on a northern New Jersey street.

Passaic police tell The Record that the shooting occurred in the area of Hope and Highland avenues and was reported shortly before 3:15 a.m. Sunday. The say the robbery bid apparently occurred in front of a home, while the shooting occurred a short distance away.

A 31-year-old city resident was shot several times in the neck and arm. He was taken to a hospital, where he died a short time later.

The two wounded victims were both treated at hospitals and later released. A 27-year-old man was shot in the right leg, while a 28-year-old man was shot in the right hand.
