Authorities tell The Press of Atlantic City that Michael Mayer crashed into the Taj Mahal a little after 7:30 p.m. Monday. His leg injury was not considered life-threatening.

He was rushing to the casino to respond to a report of an unruly employee at Scores, the strip club that is expected to open there next month.

The employee, Jonathan James, was arrested by another officer. Officials say he injured a police dog during the arrest. The 48-year-old worker was being held at the Atlantic County Jail with bail set at $50,000. It was not immediately clear if he had a lawyer.
