State Police: Separate I-280 crashes leave 4 dead
EAST ORANGE, N.J. (AP) -- State Police say three people were killed in a crash on Interstate 280 in northern New Jersey.
Trooper Alina Spies says a tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on the highway struck several vehicles around 10:35 a.m. Wednesday. She says other people were injured in the crash, but further details have not been disclosed.
A short time later, another fatal crash involving a tractor-trailer occurred less than a mile away from the scene of the first accident. But authorities say it's not clear if there's any link between the two crashes, which both caused lengthy traffic delays.
Both accidents remain under investigation.
