Clifton police detective Sgt. Robert Bracken said that a 17-year-old Paterson boy was charged with murder, armed robbery and weapons offenses in the death of 21-year-old Leandro Mendoza Friday outside a liquor store.

Another 17-year-old has pleaded not guilty to murder and other charges and 18-year-old Owen Soltis was arrested on murder charges Monday.

Police say Mendoza and another employee were closing the store when they were approached by a masked gunman who opened fire on them.

Mendoza was fatally shot while the other employee suffered minor injuries.
