7 New Jersey school districts holding votes on expenses

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) -- Voters in seven New Jersey school districts will decide whether to raise taxes for a total of $112 million in school construction and renovation projects and other school plans.

Elections are scheduled for Tuesday in Longport, Northern Burlington County Regional, Sterling Regional High School District, Manasquan, Eagleswood, Island Heights and Little Falls.

The questions include whether to pay an additional $400,000 to cover tuition and transportation for students in Longport. That district does not operate schools but instead sends students to neighboring communities.

In other districts, voters are being asked to pay for construction and renovation projects. The work that is approved by voters would be eligible for subsidies from the state government.
