The New Jersey Hall of Fame has announced 50 nominees for the public to vote for to become 2014 inductees.

The nominees in Wednesday's announcement have ties to New Jersey.

Jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie, The Shirelles, comedian Eddie Murphy and Broadway composer Jerry Herman are among the nominees from the entertainment world.

News anchor Brian Williams, author Dorothy Parker and cartoonist Alfred Stieglitz are among the arts and letters nominees.

Seabrook Farms founder Charles Seabrook, chef Alice Waters and civil rights leader Dr. John Rock represent enterprise.

Sports nominees include Patrick Ewing, Olympian Dick Button and coach Amos Alonzo Stagg.

The state's first governor, William Livingston, and former Gov. Jim Florio are part of the public service group.

Voting takes place at NJHallofFame.org.
