5-Alarm Fire Burns Woodbridge Warehouse
A 5-alarm fire fed by a ruptured gas line destroyed a recycling center in Woodbridge on Friday night.
Firefighters remained at the Montecalvo Disposal Sevices warehouse on Crows Mill Road in the Keasby section of Woodbridge not far from the Raritan River on Saturday morning watching for hot spots, News 12 New Jersey reported. Several workers escaped without injury.
The flames were first reported around 9:15 p.m. at the warehouse which is in an industrial park according to ABC 7, which reports no homes were threatened by the fire and evacuations were not needed.
According to MyCentralJersey.com, flames visible from the Garden State Parkway shot into the air and thick black smoke poured from the facility as hundreds of firefighters responded. Fire crews were assisted by fire boats from the FDNY and Perth Amboy.
