TRENTON — Three men were wounded when gunfire erupted on a street in New Jersey's capital city.

Trenton police say the shooting occurred around 10:10 p.m. Saturday in the area of Walnut Avenue and Monmouth Street.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired found two victims, a 33-year-old Trenton man and a 35-year-old Philadelphia resident. They soon learned a 47-year-old Trenton man had been driven to a hospital.

Authorities say the 33-year-old victim was walking home when he was shot in the lower right leg. The Philadelphia man dove to the ground after hearing the shots and was struck in the left ankle.

The third victim suffered wounds to his left upper leg and an index finger.

All three were being treated at a hospital for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.
