3 dead in crash near Lincoln Tunnel

NORTH BERGEN (AP) — Three people are dead in a single-vehicle crash in north Jersey that has snarled traffic leading to the Lincoln Tunnel.

The crash occurred around 6 a.m. Thursday where Route 3 in North Bergen merges with the Route 495 approach to the tunnel.

Hudson County sheriff's office spokesman Mike Makarski tells The Jersey Journal  two men and a woman were in the vehicle, which has a Massachusetts license plate. Their names have not been released.

All three lanes of Route 3 were closed for more than two hours, causing traffic to back up for miles.

The accident is under investigation.
