Two teenage boys have been arrested in connection with the murder of a Trenton man last week, authorities in Mercer County said.
The teens, ages 16 and 17, have been charged with murder, robbery, felony murder and weapons possession following the May 11 murder of 23-year-old Ricardo Montalvan Jr., according to authorities.
Members of the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the and the U.S. Marshals NY/NJ Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested the 17-year-old at his home Monday morning, police sau. He is being held at the Middlesex County youth Detention Center.
The 16-year-old had been detained at the scene after the shooting took place and is also being held at the Middlesex County youth Detention Center, according to police. Authorities have not said why he was detained after the shooting and the 17-year-old was not.
The fatal shooting took place on May 11. Police were dispatched to a parking lot on Whittaker Avenue at about 9:50 p.m. where they found Montalvan in a silver Toyota Camry with "at least one gunshot wound," the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office said in a statement. He was pronounced dead at 10:15 p.m. after being transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
Authorities have not yet responded to a request seeking additional information regarding a possible motive, the relationship between the victim and the two teens, or which of the teens police believe was responsible for fatally shooting Montalvan.
