Route 287 was closed in Bridgewater on Sunday morning due to an accident involving two State Police cruisers, according to authorities.

Sgt. FC Gregory Williams said the accident in the northbound inner lanes closed down the road between #17 (Route 202/206) and #21 (I-78) around 7:30 a.m. Two State Police officers were hospitalized for non life-threatening injuries according to Williams who had no other details about the accident.

The local lanes of Route 287 through the area are open.

A photo in the Bridgewater Patch showed one of the cruisers off the road and a bend guard rail.

State Police officer Sean Cullen died in the line of duty on March 8 as he stood along Interstate 295 during an accident and car fire.
