The base went on lockdown after the Monday morning incident. A statement from the base said two people were taken to a hospital. The Jacksonville police department said the would-be intruder was injured and taken into custody.

Jacksonville Police Sgt. Dustin Brown said a civilian had attempted to gain access to the base, which is in Jacksonville and about 15 miles northeast of Little Rock. A bomb squad was checking a green SUV parked near a visitor center at the base's main gate.

The air base closed its gates to inbound and outbound traffic after the 9:15 a.m. incident.
