And Dan, I was very pleased on two counts. One, it was 40° when I got in my car this morning. I'm gonna I think I know what the other one is. Go ahead. Because I mentioned something in my first news forecast just for you. High pressure is back. I said that just for you, my friend. And it's very sexy. I didn't go that far this morning, but you did not. But it is. Keep I love We We talked about it. See, we listen, Dan. We listen. We do. Don't give me your cold front will wreck me. Just bring your anticyclone cuz high pressure. Mhm. And there you go. Sexy. Oh, baby. There you have it. So there's your weekend. Yeah, pretty much. We're going to see a few clouds come into play, but you know, think think back to the last two weekends. The first weekend of October was nice, but it was hot. It was 88°, which was just too much. A little ridiculous. Last weekend, coastal storm, different kind of ridiculous. It was windy and floody. This weekend, it's going to feel like fall. 60s tomorrow and 70s on Sunday. There is a chance of rain coming up, which we really need, but it's going to hold off till Sunday night. So, we get to enjoy, you know, including today, three dry days. We get a little bit of rain Sunday night and that's it. What What are you thinking tonight around, let's say, between 8 and 10? I think a lot of people will have evening activities, Friday night lights, whatever's going on. It's going to be a nice crisp. We've got a cigar night planned outside. So, it should be What do you think? I think it's going to be a beautiful evening. Uh, yeah, probably falling through the 50s. You know, once the sun sets, the temperature tends to drop very quick. I was outside yesterday evening. Uh my son had football practice and then we had scouts last night. So I was outside for like three hours straight. Uh it got a little cool. You know, it was a little chilly. So uh we're definitely in jacket weather season now. But as long as the wind stays light enough and the wind will be lighter today than it was yesterday. You know, you can really enjoy that crisp fall air. I I love this time of year. I know a lot of New Jerseyians do. As you always say, we get four seasons here and fall is one of the best times. The weather is one of the things I love about this state. No doubt about it. Thank you, Dan. So, uh, Eric, great event yesterday at Mrs. G's. It was such a great night. Um, it we we had it was standing room only. Um, it was a free event, so I can't say it was sold out, but I mean, it was it was great. We had a lot of it was packed. Um, I'm sorry, I have nothing left. Um, no food. No food left. How How was the soup? Soup was received well. Soup was the biggest hit. And, you know, a lot of people came up for seconds, thirds, fourths. Um, and that's great. Somebody said to me, you know, I'm gonna be I'm gonna be listening tomorrow morning. Do you have any leftovers? I said, you guys clean me out. I got I got nothing. I was so hoping for a little soup. I know. Well, I will make it again. And then one of one of the guys that came in, I was at the at the table at the front for a little while greeting folks as they came in. He goes, "My wife told me that if I sing the Mighty Mouse theme song that I'm not going to be allowed inside." He so wanted to do it. he wanted to come up and it so yeah, it's a thing now. I love it. That'll be uh that that it was funny how people received the whole Mighty Mouse song over the last couple of days. Um many thinking there was a serious note to it that I was making a grand political statement. Um no, just got stuck in my head and we started playing it right. Sometimes things are just what they are. Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar. Sometimes it is. Well, I'm happy for Mrs. G. I'm happy for the uh uh but it's a great small business. So I I love that uh I love that it worked out yesterday. Well, and it's the So Debbie put together this community kitchen and if you don't know what that is, I mean it's basically a professional studio kitchen like you would see on a You could do a cooking show there. Oh, a thousand%. Um and it is I'm surprised that that hasn't been pitched yet. It might have been. Yeah, because that that would be very cool. Um and but she it's such a great thing because the I love cooking in my kitchen. Yeah. But to be able to cook on, you know, those cafe appliances and I mean it just it's a treat for me. Yeah, I'm sure. You know, because it it's the the stuff is amazing. It it's just amazing. And and I got there probably about 1:30. When did people start showing up? Um about4 to 5. It was the first people were starting to That's not bad. So they left you alone to get actually get work done. Yeah. I mean, it it was it was interesting because you had a lot of people that were in the showroom shopping yesterday and they're like, "Oh, what's going on over here?" Yeah. Right. Um and you know, oh, can we try that now? I'm sorry. I It's not ready yet. Try that. Yeah. Well, that's it's awesome. Mrs. G's Appliances, a fantastic local family business right on Route One in Lawrenville. I I'm sure that won't be uh maybe the last event for the year, but I'm sure you'll be back there uh at some point in this. want to do something grilling in the spring. Yeah. Because she has an amazing selection of grills and there's a couple there. I mean, I told her, "Let's just drag them out in the parking lot, put up a tent." Yeah. Let's do a grill. A few years ago, we did a cookoff between different PBA um Oh, I remember locals. Yeah, that was that was great. I can't remember who won, but I think it was a chili cookoff and then they were they were either smoking ribs or I mean it was years ago, but but yeah, I mean they put all the equipment out in the parking lot. It was great. Place was packed. I I love stuff like that. I thought I was going to get a lot of comments and questions about politics and polls and the governor's race. And yeah, there were a couple conversations we had about that, but the people that showed up really wanted to learn how to cook. They really wanted the instruction and the tips and that it was just such a great night. You'd have to tell certain people on social media there is more to life than the next election, which I'm sure we'll touch on briefly at some point this morning. uh after 6:30, I want to ask you about the FDU poll and the Fox poll and some of the things that that we're seeing because I uh as you know, Eric, I've been listening now since I've been back over the last uh almost two months and there's a lot of feedback on what could and perhaps should be being done uh specifically on the Republican side as Cheryl continues her momentum over Jack. And uh I will have some of that input for you and very specifically a decision that I believe the Republican campaign Jack Chidarelli needs to make today or tomorrow and announce by Monday. I'll have that for you after uh around 7:15 today. But uh first let's check in with traffic and weather next. And uh oh, and now she's tired herself out, hanging out, chewing a bone after taking some of these sales decorations from the sales rally yesterday. Eric, I I um my guess is they only use those once a year. Well, they're not using that one at all. No, that one's out. I think that one is done. That was like a balloon. She loves a balloon. U that lasts many. She made very quick work of that. Yeah, she was so happy. She tried to bring it over to you and then when you wouldn't play with her, she just popped it. Yeah, that was it. She walked over, looked up, and I'm like, I don't have time to for balloon play right now. That's it. And and uh and there it is. Fine. So then I'm going to destroy it. There's no way to have a dog around where there isn't some smiling going on. Oh, dogs are pure happiness and joy. I remember when uh when Tom Kaine Jr. his run for the US Senate. I don't think it was I don't know it was his dog or if it was um his campaign manager's dog, but there was a a big dog in the in the uh campaign headquarters for most of the time. And I I just I it it sets a different tone. I think this should be bring your dog to work day should be a a permanent thing. I mean, honestly, it's way less stressful than being bring your kid to work. Oh, without a doubt. Right. bring your kid to work that I everybody's like, "Ah, what do we do? How do we entertain these guys?" The dog comes in, he's like, "Hey, give me something to chew on and I'm happy." Peanut butter filled bone and I'm good for the rest of the day. Yeah, she's she's fine now. All right, so the news is coming up with Eric Scott. On the other side, I'm going to have a conversation with him about some of the polling that you'll hear. Um, you know, yes, there have been endorsements in this race for governor. I don't think there's ever been a race for governor where an endorsement carried the weight that the folks getting the endorsement hoped it would. Um what matters is what are the issues? What are people responding to? And uh again, latest poll out has the race about five points, some have it at seven points. That's been about the average. And now they're saying maybe there's only 3% of you undecided. Are you still undecided in the race for governor? 1800 283101.5626. Eric Scott with the news next. Here I come to the day. That means that [Music] [Applause] 638 on New Jersey 101.5. Good morning. I am Bill Spadia. Eric, I think Jill had a good suggestion on the Mighty Mouse thing. Yeah. Mighty mouth. Mighty mouth. Oh man. All right. So, I would say there are times, Eric, where endorsements matter. I think it depends on, you know, what what the race is, how close it is, and who the endorsement's from. Certainly, a President Trump endorsement is a big deal. Yep. Um, is a former Senator Sacko endorsement carrying the same weight with uh with Jack? I I don't know. I mean, there have been a number of Democrats who have endorsed the Republican nominee. They and and to me, as we were just talking off the air earlier, it it shows a that Mikey Cheryl does not have the same control over the insiders that um that Governor Murphy has. And a lot of that has got to do with his relationship with unions and the money he came in with. Yeah. you know, similar to Cororsine, you just came in with a pile of money. Yep. Um, two, you know, it it speaks to where can these guys get the best deal for what they want to do? Who who's more agreeable to the horse trading prior to the election? And it seems that uh that for some of these guys, Jack is way more agreeable to uh to work some inside deals before uh before election day. Well, I mean, I think you do have a level of desperation since you've been running for an office unsuccessfully for 10 years. Um, that you have to you're like, "This is it. I, you know, I I can't go down in history as a three-time loser." Um, and you know, there's a cost to that. I mean, when you get into that level of desperation, there is a cost to that politically that that you have to pay. um if you want to be successful and you want to have you know the the support of your party and your party bosses coales behind you and I think we've seen some of that what that translates into a Republican administration if we get one remains to be seen and I'll let you speculate on that. I you know but it it looked for a little while this week after having a couple of really bad weeks like the GOP nominee was gaining a little bit of momentum. Yeah. the debate, the endorsements really don't matter that much, but it is a talking point. And you had a bunch of Hudson County Democrats saying, "We're with Jack," which is a, you know, it the optics of that can be a big deal. Whether that sways an independent voter, whether that creates a Reagan Democrat that would vote for the Republican nominee, I I well, I don't know how much of that exists. So So the question then really is you you hit the nail on the head. Is this a case of Reagan Democrats or is this far more equatable to um McGrevy coming in cuz he'll tell you uh all the people that had their hooks in coming in in 2001. Absolutely. Yep. Yeah. I I mean that's a valid point and you know the speculation is not without merit on that. But I think if you you know you look at so you've got three polls that have come out in the last couple of days. You have the Quinnipic poll, which had it at a six-point race. You have the Fox poll, which had it at a five-point race. And now this morning, you have the FDU poll, which has it at a six-point race. And what I've always said about polls is that they don't predict outcomes. They show trends. and they show a trend of Mikey Cheryl continuing to hold not a comfortable lead but a lead that gives her a clearer path to victory. And if you look at the undecideds and if the FDU poll is reflective of what the actual likely voter is going to be, you have only about 3% that now have yet to make up their mind. You're seeing pretty solid support almost equal for both the Republican and Democratic candidates among their registered voters coalesing behind them and you have a lot of those in and what you what you mean by that is nine out of 10 Democrats are with Cheryl, nine out of 10 Republicans are with Jack. Absolutely. Now the enthusiasm is a little different. Some of the Republicans, you know, have a little bit more enthusiasm for their nominee than the Democrats have. But here's the interesting thing. In the FDU poll, and and these are the things that can kind of raise alarm bells in a campaign, likely voters were asked, "What do you view favorably about each candidate?" And things like you you would expect. But the thing that stands out is with Mikey Cheryl, it's her plan to freeze utility rates. Mhm. Now, whether she can or whether she can't, that's been a key talking point that resonates across party lines, Republicans, Democrats, independent, unaffiliated voters. There is no issue like that for the Republican candidate. And when I talk to, you know, some of my Republican, even Democratic friends, they just shake their heads and they're like, "How is it possible that the Democratic candidate was able to get ahead, grab control and ownership of affordability issues, which are typically red meat Republican issues?" You would have thought that that was a no-brainer. And then somebody said to me the other day that was just assumed by the Republican candidates campaign that we were going to win on affordability because we're a Republican. Well, and that was when they you could see even in some of the conversations I saw it happen during some of the primary debates there was a growing uh reach out on the solar issue. And I I've been very critical of solar subsidies, solar power. I I love the concept, love the idea of being off the grid. All that is positive. Uh but when you get into these massive government handouts, which you know, similar to higher education, you know, why does it cost $50,000 a year to go to college? Well, the government's subsidizing half of it, so the prices stay up. I think it's very similar in the solar industry. I mean that's a a question that came up many times saying well okay how is it that government when people are paying this kind of of bills uh who is subsidizing the the lower rates when someone's got a a whole household or a business does etc. And when Republicans start embracing that, I saw it as an indicator that Jack in particular was so confident that he would have the affordability issue that he was trying to reach across the aisle and say, "Don't be scared of me." I'm also in favor of all these alternative energies. I mean, you know, Jack was the one that came up with the floating windmill idea. Good grief, floating windmills. Like that's a what? And and when you start to do that, you've seeded and you they left their flank open. Yeah. And Cheryl drove a truck through it. It was a, you know, when you, however this campaign ends up, and we're going to know in three weeks, um, when you go back and and if the Republican does in fact become a three-time loser, you're going to open and dissect that campaign and say, "This was the biggest critical tactical error was not jumping on the affordability issue and the utility rates and owning that issue. You allowed your opponent to own that issue and poll after poll after poll has shown it. Well, it's part of the the the challenge of running a primary campaign that is only negative because you had all that time and when you saw the Democrats debating, they were debating over issues. I had this conversation with Steve Phillip. Um, you know, it was a to it was a different tone. Uh, not to say it was necessarily more uh positive. It was certainly less negative and I think that that gave them some momentum coming in because uh Cheryl won in a very crowded field with a low relatively low percentage of votes but um but still came in with that kind of momentum. So question for you uh and again I'm going to continue to call balls and strikes on this and you know the polling is what it is. I have been listening and I'm getting a lot of feedback and I've got a ton of folks uh and I've got some suggestions based on what I've heard that I'll share with you after 7:00. But I want to ask you right now, have you decided who you're going to vote for and what would sway your vote? Is there someone that if they endorsed a particular candidate that would be it? Okay, I'm going in that direction because polling is showing that relatively everyone pretty much everyone has decided. So therefore, if these polls are accurate, is the race over? Um I'm a retired Jean Carpenter. Okay. I've been Democrat my whole life. Mhm. Um but this race, it's important to me that I change that. I just don't believe Mikey Cheryl is going to deliver on the things that she's saying. So what don't you believe from the Democrat nominee? What what is she saying that you hear that as a Democrat and say, "Nope, not buying that." What is it? Well, I It's the public public service thing. Um um I'm sorry I'm getting a mind block here, but um no, I I don't believe that what she's saying about that is going to be correct. So, you're all right. So, you're you're voting Republican. And how long you been a registered Democrat, Richard? Well, my whole life I'm 60. Yeah. So, and I, you know, I'm every time. So, what what is it what is it about Jack Chinarelli that has him earning your vote? I just believe he'll be better for New Jersey. I I don't believe something happened to the Democratic party. Yeah. And I don't I don't know when it happened exactly, but it it Well, there's no doubt, Richard, they they've gotten more radical. I mean, you know, I I've said this over and over again that it's really amazing to me that Mikey Cheryl's leading Jack in the polls when it comes to affordability and energy when it was 25 years of Democrats that put us in this mess. Now, I've said it, woke Democrats and weak Republicans are the worst combination for any state and and we have suffered through 25 years of both. So, you know, we'll see. Now, um in uh in a little bit, I will have uh another recommendation from the folks that I've been talking to over the last couple of weeks on what I believe uh Jack needs to do if he is serious about winning this race. Like they're just looking for reasons to go after the manufacturers. Why are we not holding people accountable to their behavior? Now, I don't know what happened when this guy uh accidentally shot himself, but I I I mean, I've been shooting since I was a kid. Yeah, me too. I've never cleaned a weapon that had a round chamber. What are you crazy? It is. Come on. I I mean that's just that's 101. I mean that I I I mean that was stupid. From the time that I was 8 years old, I probably fired my first gun at 8. Yeah. It's you know, you don't you treat every gun like it's loaded. That's right. Until you verify that it's empty, that there's no And then clean it. And then you clean it. I mean, it's I field strip and clean my guns every time I shoot them. I know you do as well. Of course. And that's the first thing. I mean, it just it Well, I I I mean, he's dead now, so god forbid, right? Family. Terrible, terrible tragedy. But but but you don't now punish legal gun owners and a legitimate company that has a relatively popular firearm. Uh it's like New Jersey does every single thing possible to work against legal gun owners. I'm going to bet that that Zigg puts out a care and cleaning guide for their firearms. And I'll bet you item number one is unload the weapon. Yeah, no doubt. The lawsuit's going nowhere, but just so you're aware, your tax dollars are paying for Matt Plin to go on this jihad against legal gun owners. So, you know, take that for what it's worth, but pay attention because it does matter who sits in these jobs. All right, let's go to Anthony and Caldwell. What's going on, Anthony? Hey, Bill. None of the above. You're talking about the uh the race for governor, the two the two at the top. I know, right? It's a shame. It's a shame, Anthony. And and look, I I'm going to give some input after traffic and weather on what I think uh Jack needs to do if he is if he plans to win this thing. But the reality is like who do you trust? Who do you trust to really lead us? I I spoke last night in Keyport, Anthony, and I told the guys there said, "Forget about the top of the ticket right now. We got to focus on getting better mayors, better council members. We need to rebuild common sense and integrity at the grassroots level." Good morning. Uh, real quick, uh, this Mickey Mikey Cheryl, she said something vaguely familiar to what Murphy said about New Jersey taxes being too high in New Jersey is not the place for you. She said something along those lines recently, which made me want to cringe, just like Murphy. The Democrats, they they take you for granted as a taxpayer. The problem is the Republicans for so many now decades have been too weak to challenge them. So, it's like you're out of the frying pan into the fire. That That's the problem. So, so Anthony, are you undecided or are you a none of the above voter? Uh, I'm a none of the above. If I had to choose one, I'd go with Jack, unfortunately. Okay. It's It's a shame that that's uh most people who say that qualify it that way, but here's where we are, right? Thank you, Anthony. Let's go to Lewis in Summit. What's going on, Lewis? I I'm I'm voting for Jack Chidarelli and the reason but the reason I'm voting for him is more it's not really anything to do with Jack Chidarelli or Mikey Cheryl. uh well the Democratic party and their more socialist leanings and not it's not all the party but unfortunately I would say the percentage of their policies and the path that they're going down does not remind me of the America that my grandfather uh was raised in and and and but a better note to you I do agree with you we need better representatives but I think that we need to start with at least uh voting back to a more conservative um ideals and then from there like you're saying we need a real push and I think it would be great if I don't know maybe if you held um like political or philosophical classes or something like debates and then we really look for better candidates for the we'll have some announcements happening after the election Lewis so so stay tuned for that because my mission to turn this state around is just getting started. Um, yesterday I talked about one of the big things that I'm hearing uh on the ground as far as what Jack Chidarelli can do to win this race and it really involves step one making sure that he takes full advantage of the incredible resource he's got in Sheriff Jim Ganon and making sure that Jim spends the next 18 days in Mars County. And you can read about that article. I'll ask producer Thomas to alert that article out uh about Sheriff Jim Ganon and the incredible asset that he is to the Republican ticket and how he should be put in a stronger role focusing on Mars County because that is a critical must-win and it's got to reflect more Chris Christie numbers than Chedarelli numbers back in 21 and if they can pull that off that's going to go a long way toward victory. Now, as you see, a number of recent polls have shown that the Democratic nominee, Mikey Cheryl, maintains a a lead in the race. I mean, you're talking between five and seven points in legitimate public polling. And in order to win, Jack has got to pull out all the stops. Now, she's got a lead on energy policy, taxes. I mean, these are two key cornerstones of any Republican plan for governance. But one area that Jack can take back from the Democrats is in public safety and law enforcement. He got endorsed by the FOP. And what's interesting though is that despite Mikey's past opposition to qualified immunity, her more than tacit support of anti-cop black lives matter, and her coziness with the defund the the police radicals, the largest police union in New Jersey, the New Jersey State Policeman's Benevolent Association, has yet to make an endorsement. Uh, interesting. Right now, what I'm hearing from our many law enforcement friends and contacts and family members is that Jack's past is troubling to the law enforcement community. You know, he's made statements about cops being quote more than well- paid. Even though they put their lives on the line, they do it voluntarily. And he knows of many more dangerous jobs that pay less. I mean, that hurt him. That was a that was a quote from him on the assembly floor. And then a lot of law enforcement folks are very concerned that Jack is going to govern like Chris Christie and be Christy 2.0. And you ask first responders today and they blame Governor Christie for breaking his promises specifically on pensions. So I I understand the reluctance. Okay, we get that. But but Jack can't win without the support of law enforcement across the state. It's a huge part of the Trump base in Jersey. He's got to overperform among first responders and their families if he's going to win on November 4th. So, he's got to have a big turnout and he's got to do it not just in North Jersey, but also in South Jersey. Now, what I'm hearing from listeners and law enforcement connections is Jack needs to act immediately and he should announce by Monday his pick for attorney general and reassure the law enforcement community that he's going to put someone in the attorney general's job who's going to fight for the PBA, fight for our first responders, fight for fairness and upholding public safety and law enforcement. So, here's my advice. From what I've heard, he should announce no later than Monday, October 20th, this coming Monday, that if he wins, he will appoint state senator Michael Ta, to the role of Attorney General. Now, this would be a similar strategy successfully employed by President Trump, who announced his short list for Supreme Court nominees ahead of election day, and it would be a gamecher for Chidarelli. First of all, Senator Ta's got arguably the strongest pro law enforcement record in the state senate. He's in South Jersey where Jack's got to pump up the votes in the reddest part of the state outside of Warren County. And let's face it, Mike Test is one of the reasons, main reasons why Cumberland, Atlantic, and Kate May counties have remained solidly Republican. Ta also brings a little bit of youth and energy to the Republican side down this final stretch. And let's not forget he was a former statewide chair for the Trump campaign. He's also got credibility among moderates. He chaired the Senate campaign for Kate May developer uh hotel year Curtis Bashaw. And by some Mike Test has been called a Republican rising star. Now he was on board with Jack early enough that this should be a nobrainer. So, if Jack can combine a strong victory in Mars County and announce by Monday that Senator Mike Ta is going to be his pick for attorney general, I think he's got another step toward victory. I haven't checked out this morning. Oh, wow. I mean, and what's funny is, um, there there are some of these low-lying news outlets out there that, you know, want to be journalists, and I'm not going to mention their names, but they've been attacking me for a couple days because they're, you know, it was clear to everybody that that Mikey Cheryl was taking a lot of what you and I have talked about, call them balls and strikes, and they turn it into convenient attack ads against the Republicans. And and I said I called I maybe I shouldn't have done it but I did. I responded to one of the reporters I know and I I said look the they if you listen to me forgetting over the last 10 years listen to me in the last 6 weeks I have said and qualified every statement by saying it's the Democrats who got us into this mess in the first place when it comes to energy affordability. Now I'm not afraid to say weak Republicans allowed it to happen but I've called this out. They said, "And the Democrats conveniently ignore every time I attack them and only select the quotes when it's critical." And you know, when you were away for 8 months, that was I pointed it out every day. 25 years of Democratic control, the irrelevancy of the Republicans. And that's not being mean to the Republican party. That's simply a reality. It's truth. It's true. The Democrats do not need a single Republican vote to advance any legislation. And how many times did Jack come on to tell you that that's not the case and the Republicans have a plan? Not once. Yeah. How many texts or calls did he return? None. Right. So, I mean, that that that speaks volumes. So, look guys, take it for what it's worth. Um and and this guy um uh he's at what is he at NJ Devils Hockey on um maybe a player for all I know. I don't know. At NJ Devils Hockey. No, he spelled it with two Y's. So clearly it's a faker. But um uh and a troll. But anyway, check that out. There's some good hate from his account. uh you know, but clearly this is a guy that they don't read the articles because I posted the article that my suggestion yesterday uh based on a lot of great feedback on Jim Ganon and I've known Jim Ganon for for a long time. He's a good man, solid guy and and I complimented Jack the day after he picked him. So that was a smart pick. Politico reported on my compliment. Uh, actually Jack even mentioned it on the air with Sid Rosenberg um in a little bit of disbelief saying, "Yeah, he just complimented my pick for LG." But the point I was making is there's a pathway, but you got to do the work and people are angry because some of the trolls anyway, they think you can wave a magic wand. And if every Republican just says, "Okay, we're going to ignore all the bad. just vote Republican blindly, then you win. And what you learn when you get uh a little long in the tooth is you recognize you got to hold your own guys accountable first. So if you're a Republican and you're pissed off about the fact that I haven't endorsed in the governor's race, that's just ridiculous because nobody's giving more solid concrete input on how to win. And by the way, guys, here we sit in this morning show and arguably we, Eric and I, and and Eric, I'll speak for you for a second if it's okay. We have our hands, our fingers on the pulse of the people in New Jersey because there is no buffer between the people of New Jersey and the conversation in the show. There's no filter other than the dump button when they curse us out, which seems to be happening, which is happening a little more than usual. No, but I but be even beyond that and I appreciate that. And I think after sitting in this chair for 34 years, um that's true. And when I meet with folks like I did, you know, last night at Mrs. G's and talk to them and and it's it's reinforced. But flip that again. You as a candidate, me as a as a journalist have been involved or covered or seen the intricacies of political campaigns statewide and even on the local level. um at a rate that is almost unprecedented and you know it's I think that's what's missing in New Jersey media media in general but in New Jersey media where you have fewer and fewer and fewer and fewer reporters with deep institutional knowledge of politics and processes and the ability to say okay this is what it looks like this is what it really means and in the past when this has happened this has happened and you only time and experience gives you that right so you know that I and I will speak for you for a moment I think that makes us uniquely qualified to take a look at what's happening in these campaigns in an unbiased fashion um and say all right well you know that wasn't particularly smart right and and that was you know I got a lot of hate for us talking about the ridiculous response that Jack had on the debate stage when when Mikey accused him of killing tens of thousands of people. The right answer would have been that's wildly uh uh out of control, out of context and clear hyperbole. No, I did not kill tens of thousands of people. That's the answer. Instead to say, well, at least I walked to my graduation and for and and you know, you got to you got to realize and by the way, guys, I don't mind the hate. I mean, keep it coming. It is a wonderful segment we have every Wednesday and and it's chalk full of new stuff every single day. So, thank you for that. But I think your hate and anger is somewhat misplaced. You ought to be mad that the Republican nominee is not doing the things that need to be done to win. There's no reason that a Fox News poll has Mikey Cheryl up se seven points or six points or even five points. There's no reason why Mikey Cheryl, the Democrat, part of the Democratic insider establishment in Trenton and more for her in DC, they are directly responsible for your high energy rates, for your high tax rates. And what have I been saying now for I don't know, I've been a broadcaster for what, the past 12, 13 years now, going back to Chasey News, and we launched that uh in 2013. And the reality is that weak Republicans allow woke Democrats to run rough shot over you. So guys, you're welcome that I'm calling balls and strikes and I'm going to be tough about this race. You've got 18 days to go. Someone's going to win. And for my part, I'm spending my time on the trail locally promoting small business, promoting local candidates because no matter who wins, no matter who wins on November 4th, if we don't have strong mayors supported by strong council members, supported by strong uh common senseminded people of integrity at the county level, it doesn't matter because you're going to get rolled anyway. So, we got to build it from the ground up. But I'm I'm giving you the straight advice. And as Eric said, look, we've got a lot of combined experience here. And there are a few things quite honestly that are super obvious that if if Jack embraced at least last two suggestions, you'll have a turnaround by next Friday. I've made now what I consider two very solid solid smart recommendations based on the feedback I've gotten from you listeners uh from elected officials I've talked to as I uh continue to be out on the trail supporting small business and local candidates um last night in Mammoth County Colts Neck very good night um and and you know to me it's obvious right that that Sheriff Jim Ganon is a huge asset and should be focused on five, six stops a day in Mars County to get Mars County to deliver a Christylike margin uh back to 2009 where he won 60%. That is a a cushion that will help. And then on the other side, I've suggested and and it'll be posted to the website that state senator Michael Ta should be Jack's pick for attorney general. But it doesn't matter if he waits until November 4th. He's got to do it Monday the 20th or today and let the news chew on that over the weekend. But look, Jack, you know, you need a a shot of energy. You need some youthful enthusiasm. You got a guy that is effectively responsible for the red wave that took place in Cumberland Atlantic and Kate May. and and that despite the failings of some of the other organizational leaders, Ta did it. Plus, here's a guy in the state senate that has put forth, I think it's like 30 pro law enforcement bills. And maybe that'll be enough to get the PBA to say, "Okay, we need to we can't support the defund the police lady." Let's go to Mark in Old Bridge. Morning, Mark. Good morning, Bill. How you doing? I think forgotten in this election has been the fact that the New Jersey Democrats, Mikey Cheryl, are still attacking children. She knows she wants to mandate that radical LGBTQ curriculum, not allow people to opt out, which you shouldn't even be out. Well, you're right. I mean, look, the Democrats have been pushing this from go. This was and Murphy used the union money NJA CWA to strongarm legislators in his own caucus to leave it alone. Which is why I've said all along the Democrats in the Senate and the Assembly not as radical as Phil Murphy and his wife. That they're the drivers of this. I agree. So people out there have to ask themselves, are you willing to sacrifice your child's innocence for party ideology, their education for party ideology? And I think most people say no. So that should be one of the most important motivating factors to get out there and vote because you know I'm being attacked now by my opponent because I spoke out against that. Yeah. She actually called me that I'm anti police. I'm a retired detective. That's how incompetent these people are and desperate that they have to resort to things like that. But you know, you know, I could get on here. I could follow up with you and talk about how the the uh importance of Jack supporting the police. But for me as a retired law enforcement, as a parent, as a person who's running, the fact that children are being targeted is just so outrageous to me. And the fact that they're doubling and tripling down on it really should get people alarmed out there. We're postco there's so much education loss and there's no priority to address that. They're worried about all this trans cult insanity. It has to stop. So Mark, how do people find you on the ballot? you are running for council in Oldbridge Ward 4. Uh you need to win. You need to win and bring some common sense to the to the council. Uh column B, ward 4. Also, don't forget about the board of ed, which is also important. She reached out to me and she said, "You know, we've really got a great chief here. He's been on the job for a year. He's an incredible public servant. Uh makes sacrifices for the community." And uh when I when I heard from her, I you know, we talked about this and and Sandy's one of the good guys when it comes to uh leader. She is a great leader in the town alongside a council president Roxy Kiff and uh new mayor Joseph Henkins who replaced uh county commissioner Robert Arace, a good friend of ours. Rob is a great great community leader and doing a great job on the uh board but he had to resign as mayor. So, the town is doing an outstanding job. And my thought for this blue Friday after I spoke to Sandy and uh the folks in Manchester is that we're going to start identifying some of the leaders that are out there because it's it's not just the oneoff heroic act which yes we're going to continue to celebrate and as I said I don't have enough Fridays to bring you every story that we hear about but I I thought it was time to put a uh a an honor on the leadership at the local level and it's in line with everything that I've been doing over the past few years where even during my run for governor, it was about knocking on doors with folks running for council and mayors and the decisions that they make locally and one of the big decisions is who's going to run your police department. And when you've got people who are willing to step up and lead and take all the flack, take all the anger, the hate that comes out uh in politics and social media and serve for a quarter century and then agree to a promotion to be in the, you know, in that line of fire as a local leader of men and women in uniform. Well, that means something. And Chief Ellis, your sacrifice, your dedication to public service, it means something. It means something to me. It clearly means something to the elected officials in Manchester. And if I can take the liberty of saying it means something to the residents of Manchester who know that not only are you a strong leader, but you're an educator. You're a mentor. is somebody that understands that we're only as strong as the new guys coming into the force. So, thank you for all that you do. We appreciate you. I was blessed with an opportunity to be able to run for statewide office. Not everybody gets that opportunity, and I understand that. So, do what you can. You can vote. You can volunteer, you know, and you know what? Some, Phil, sometimes it's as simple as talking to somebody younger than us and explaining to them how the world works. That you can't just wish away your problems. You can't just vote for somebody to give you money and hand things out. It doesn't work that way. Sometimes you got to go uh go earn it yourself and go sacrifice. And we need more of that. And and I believe, Phil, I think it's changing. I can just see that with my daughter and my son and the the folks that they're friends with and the this this work ethic. And I see how hard my kids are working. And you know, Jody and I say you can't you can take a little bit of credit as a parent, but maybe maybe it's half and half. But if you instill the right values and your kids are out there, that next generation is what's going to save this state and save this country. So, thank you, Phil. Appreciate you. 856. I am Bill Spadia with you at 10:00 this morning. Uh before I get to Michael Bolan, our veteran check-in, which we're doing now twice a month. Um Eric, I just want to clarify on the polling that is out. So now, correct me if I'm wrong. This is three polls in a row that had Mikey Charlotte 50 or higher. 50 or higher. Correct. And Jack is at what? 45. Where's his high water mark? His high water mark is 46. 46. And that was what a 52 46 poll. Was that the Fox poll? Uh, was that FDU? No, that was the FD. Uh, that was the Quinnipak poll. I believe Quinnipak. Okay. But but so as as polls will not show a result, they can show a trend. Yes. So right now that trend is not going in the Republican direction. Uh, yes, that's safe to say. So the the trend continues to show that Democrat Mikey Cheryl has a lead. It shows that Republicans and Democrats are coalesing nine out of 10 uh behind their party's nominee. Um the number of undecided voters is smaller as low as 3% and that the majority of unaffiliated or what we used to call independent voters are at least leaning or have already decided that they will vote for Mikey Cheryl. Um, keep in mind that these polls ask, "Are you a likely voter? Are you likely to vote?" That can sometimes skew results because I think most people if you ask them, hey, you going to vote? Oh, yeah. Yeah, I'm going to vote. Yeah, that's true. That's true. Um, so, you know, it's but it's more accurate than if you were to just take all registered voters because we know what voter turnout is. Yeah. And this time could be 40, could be less. uh could be less. Um I think there is a possibility that we're going to see a lack of enthusiasm among affiliated party voters. Um and if that happens, it's going to depress turnout. We say it in every election cycle, but it is really important in a statewide race like this that you have a get out the vote plan, mechanism, and machine that motivates that base. Um, Democrats have a little more wiggle room because they have more registered voters than Republicans. The Republicans have no wiggle room in this. No wiggle room. I got a letter yesterday, a postcard handwritten by somebody who clearly has been around the planet for a while. many spins around the sun. Um, but it was handwritten and postmarked in Sou Falls, South Dakota. Encourage you to mention that because I forgot to mention that Sandra got the same one. Right. Handwritten. Yep. Don't forget to vote. Turn New Jersey red. So, they have farmed out their voter operation to somebody writing postcards in South Dakota, which I think is again, and I'll I'll cover this after traffic and weather, my uh latest bit of strategy advice from the advice and input that I'm getting from the field and and on the ground uh for Jack in order to win. But an indicator that there is no effective New Jersey Republican party. You don't need to look past getting a postcard from South Dakota. U because I know the Veterans Day parade is on November 11th in New York City. Uh, I would like to do a special post on that because we'd like to get New Jersey veterans walking in that. And look, I'm a Republican and I've been getting a lot of calls and a lot of folks asking me, you know, what can Jack do to turn this around? And a lot of people offering suggestions, many in the business community, many in the law enforcement community. yesterday and I'll ask producer Thomas to send the article out that I posted yesterday. You can also check it out on X. I'm at Bill Spadia talking about what they need to do with regard to Sheriff Jim Ganon and use him as the incredible resource that he is. Today, I believe strongly that based on everything I've heard, particularly from the law enforcement community, that Jack Chidarelli should announce no later than Monday that if he wins, he will appoint state senator Michael Ta to the role of Attorney General. This would be a similar strategy employed by President Donald Trump, who announced his short list for the Supreme Court ahead of election day, and it'd be a gamecher for the Chitterelli campaign. He's got to overcome the negative things he has said about cops in the past. He's got to overcome the perception that he's going to be Chris Christie 2.0. The PBA despite the terrible record of Mikey Cheryl, uh, who was very cozy with Black Lives Matter and the defund the police radicals, the somebody who opposed qualified immunity, still the PBA, largest cop union in New Jersey, has stayed out of it so far.
