New Jersey malls reflect changing shopping habits and nostalgia
The landscape of shopping malls in New Jersey has evolved significantly in recent years, reflecting changing consumer preferences and economic factors. While certain malls thrive, such as the Ocean County Mall, which has welcomed an influx of new shops and amenities, others, like C View Square and Hamilton Mall, face decline. This shift is emblematic of a wider trend affecting retail spaces across the country, revealing a mix of nostalgia for mall culture and a need for adaptation to modern shopping habits.
A New Era for Malls
The Ocean County Mall stands out as a beacon of success amidst the retail landscape's turmoil. With a variety of new stores and activities, it has become a go-to destination for families and shoppers alike. This thriving mall has reportedly seen increasing foot traffic, as it adapts to what today’s shoppers are seeking: a combination of retail, entertainment, and culinary experiences.
Conversely, locations like C View Square Mall have fallen into disrepair, highlighting the stark contrast in success among New Jersey malls. As shoppers shift towards online retail, the decline of these once-bustling centers raises questions about the future of traditional shopping experiences. The mall was once a cultural hub, serving as a gathering place for families and friends, a concept that many callers reminisced about, discussing their personal experiences and memories tied to local malls.
Nostalgia and Modern Trends
As listeners share their thoughts on local malls, it’s clear that many retain fond memories of past visits—those teenage rendezvous, holiday shopping sprees, and even late-night escapades. However, the nostalgia also coexists with a recognition of current realities. The emergence of unique retail destinations, such as the American Dream Mall, exemplifies how shopping centers must evolve, offering attractions beyond shopping to draw in visitors.
A Shift in Experience
The concept of the mall has transformed into more than just a shopping destination; it is increasingly about creating diverse experiences. Visitors now expect amenities such as dining options, entertainment, and interactive features that can’t be replicated online. This shift can be seen in successful malls that host events, concerts, or seasonal activities, appealing to families and community members alike.
The Future of Malls in New Jersey
For malls to remain relevant, they must adapt and innovate. The decline of certain malls underscores a critical need for re-evaluation of the retail strategy and experience. As discussed, listeners noted that malls no longer serve solely as shopping centers but must also offer a mix of entertainment and community engagement to attract and retain customers.
The intersection of nostalgia for mall culture and the necessity for modern experiences presents an interesting challenge and opportunity for the future of retail in New Jersey. Malls that adapt to meet the needs and expectations of today's consumers will likely continue to thrive, while those that do not may face further decline.
In conclusion, the transformation of shopping malls in New Jersey encapsulates a broader shift in consumer behavior and retail strategy. By embracing innovation and creating community-centric environments, malls can carve out a new era of relevance and success in the retail landscape.

It's a thousand $10,000 Thursday. Judy $10,000 Thursday. That's very exciting. I am Judy Franco. That is EJ together. They call us Judy and EJ. Kyle's here, of course, with us. Can't do it without him. Yeah. You know why that Judy? Because we're so fortunate. We are so fortunate that we have our very own boomer setter that we don't have to pay for. That's right. It's free. And by the way, did you guys have like more fun without me than you have with me? Tell the truth a little bit. You want to answer that one? You No, you answer it. Oh my god. You really No, of course not. So sad. No. No. Truth be told, I swear. So every time when you come back, so you know, you've been off the last couple of weeks and when we go through the mundane, every show, every day, it's like, "Hey, Judy." And then, you know, today come back, I'm like, "Hey, Judy, what's going on? I missed you." It's fresh. Yeah. But yesterday and the day before you guys didn't have sometimes I feel like I'm your like monitor like, "Oh, the teacher is not here, you know? Do you kind of feel like you No, those No, I think this is just your social anxiety or We were so sad, Judy, without you and we had we had we had two horrible shows. Okay. I know you're not sad and I know it's not a bad show. All I'm saying is, isn't it missing something when I'm not there? Absolutely. Yeah. You know what? I will say this and this is I don't think we laugh as much when Judy's not here. Yeah. We giggle. Yeah. But you make us laugh, Judy. Okay. That's all I need to hear. Thank you. See, I'm laughing now. And you know what? Um, I'm not even kidding. I was by at my daughter's house in one of our hot zips uh for the last two days and people are loving the new show. They made me feel so good. Hot zips. We love the hot zips. It was a hot zip. Yes. And people really, really, really like the new show. So, I'm so happy. I actually think though, EJ, that this is a story that you should probably set up. Oh, okay. Well, unless you don't want to. No, I do. Uh I I saw this story last night on on NJ.com. I you know, I we scroll all the news sites every single day looking for the very latest thing happening. Oh, speaking of that, see, this is what I'm here for. Yeah. I bet you guys got out complete thoughts and sentences for the past few days without me interrupting, right? Well, you know, we're pretty good about uh not interrupting each other cuz you know we we do the head nod you know and and and eye contact and Okay. So but you need me because sometimes you guys just talk and you need me to interrupt and and and you know keep it from being boring. It's a wall of sound when we're on the air, Judy. Okay. Going to interrupt you. You ready? Yeah. Should I go? They quoted they posted your post in Insider NJ. I did see that. I didn't know. Thanks for sharing that. I did write a post about a New Jersey bucket list and I found a survey that showed the biggest bucket list items in New Jersey and I saw a few on there that I haven't done yet and so I wrote an article about it posted at nj1015.com in the Judy and EJ section and in who picked it up? It was Insider NJ. I think that's what it's called. Shoot. I and I I feel so bad that I'm doing this now because I love them and for years they're so good to us. Um and now Insider NJ, right? I thought I was going to forget what it was. Insider NJ. Great great website. You got to go there. They have everything. They're like the New Jersey 101.5 of the online world. And we help them, they help us, they repost us, we real nice people. Anyway, and we get plenty of topics from there, too. Yes, we do. So, one of those are one of those, as I just wanted to say. So, you should read EJ's post because he's just starting and he's very excited about writing. Yeah. And there were two um two bucket list items that people can't believe I haven't done yet. I've never been to the grounds for sculpture in Hamilton. Have not. And that's right around the corner. I've never se I've never I've seen the Statue of Liberty from like the New York side or on a ship, but I've never visited Liberty State Park. That's ridiculous. I know. So, there's a bucket list of things that I still need to do, but maybe our listeners would consider doing on these beautiful fall weekends. All right. So, talk to So, a vacation to Paakana in the Dominican Republic took a dark turn this past weekend after a Hudson County man suffered a brain injury. Judy, I heard this. This is horrible. What a story. He slipped by the pool and hit his head and immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Um, all the usual signs of concussion, including vomiting and whatnot. Upon arrival to the hospital, he and his wife were handed a bill of $10,000 even before any treatment was received. That's the way they do it in third world countries. That's nuts. Or as they call them in the more politically correct world, developing nations. I'm glad you brought this up, EJ, because before you continue with that article, my biggest fear is being sick in a foreign country. And it just happened to me. You know, I got sick lying on the floor of the airport in Barcelona. And uh I was like, "Please don't take me to the hospital." They even told me, "Don't go to the hospital here because it's very busy. You'll never get in." Um, I think a really good chunk of this topic is going to be people who got sick in a foreign country. But in general, when you had a nightmare happened to you on vacation, that's the topic, right? Yeah. 1800 2831015. You know what a lot of these things happened EJ during CO? Because people had to test before they went home, right? People were trying to go away, but then you had a test before you went home and then people would find out they have co so they were quarantined to their hotel rooms. Wow. Did Did they say now you can't leave? They said you can't leave in every language in Spanish. No, but like in Dominican Republic I was I mean to me that's one of the worst places. Any place that's an island. Sorry. Just kill yourself. I saw something very horrible in the Dominican Republic. We stayed at a resort in Paakana and the resort was a bit of a bus ride from the airport and it went through this town. I maybe it was like the real town of Paakan or some small town and I guess there were prisoners working on the side of the road. I guess one guy wasn't doing his job and they they were whipping this guy on his back. They were they were they were like you you see hor horrible things but this guy was like getting beaten and all the tourists saw that on their way to this beautiful hotel resort. And once you're at the resort, you know, you're locked in. You're on that you're in that little private world right there. It's not even like you're anywhere. You're just It's like a It's You know what those resorts are? Those all-inclusives are like they're like ships but on land. Yeah. Like a cruise ship on land. Yeah. Well, that's a good analogy. I like that one. It is a good one, EJ. Very good. And you know what cruise ships are? They are the uh all-inclusive resorts in the water. See? Yeah. All right. So, um, when you had a nightmare vacation, um, what happened to you? And especially if it involves being sick, being in a foreign country, 1 8002831015 is our phone number. My, uh, father-in-law, he should rest in peace, was in Korea and he had a heart attack. He went to a hospital in Korea. He had a friend with him. The friend went to go check on him and the doctor in Korea said, "No, he's dead already." And he was like, "What? I let me go check." And you know, some of these hospitals in, you know, you're not talking about big cities like Seoul, you know, you mountainside hospitals or whatever. And they were doing business there that a factory there or something. Yeah. They probably have the worst doctors because they're the doctors that couldn't get the job in a big city. Well, yeah. Exactly. a m you know a mountainside village doctor in Korea is not where you want to have a heart attack. So they said no he died already because they just didn't want to deal with it and they figured and he was very sick. So his friend went to go let me just go see and he went back and he saw that he was unconscious but he was alive. Wow. So he said he called the embassy the American embassy and said I got a friend here and they were like didn't want to deal with it and he was like get this guy out of here. They brought an ambulance and they took him to like a big city hospital. But I mean, you don't know where like I'm in Barcelona. It's a big city, but I'm begging to go to the hospital cuz I'm so sick. Even the Spanish, this is only a couple of months ago, right? Yes. Yeah. And they're like, "Yeah, I I should post that picture of me lying on the floor and in the airport." And they said, "No, you don't want to go to the hospital." Even the Spanish people were saying it. All right. Gus went to a cano Cancun hotel and had a nightmare. Tell us the story, Gus. Hi, good morning, guys. Uh, listen to your time. First time caller. Yeah, I went to Cancun about two months ago. Um, uh, Breathless, hung out there. About 7 8:00 at night, the power went out. No backup generator, no nothing. Um, the next morning, we came down the steps, there was blood everywhere, all down the steps like a crime scene. So, we asked like any what happened? Nothing. So, we ended up finding the older gentleman during the power outage. He slipped and fell down the steps. ended up getting 32 stitches. But meanwhile, they put a towel on him, go to the front, go to the front office, say, "Can you get us to the ambulance?" Like, "No, we don't do that. It's all on your own." So, they ended up paying for Uber to go to the hospital. Once they get to the hospital, they said it cost him $6,200 to get 37 pitches. And they wouldn't even see him or or or do anything to him until they put it on his credit card. And then he took another Uber back. The hotel did absolutely nothing. And the power was out for 7 at night until I think like 4:00. Let me just tell you when it comes to uh Mexico, I mean you already know how corrupt that country is. So the minute you go into their hospital, they charge you ahead of time. And it seems that the same thing happened in this Dominican Republic situation. Um but they can charge you anything, you know. Yeah. Before we can see you got to give us $5,000. Who's going to say no to that? No, I'll go shopping for a different hospital. So they had a great great uh situation going on there. And then Gus, I'm sure you've heard about all of those poisonings from drinks. So, a lot of resorts, it it turned out I mean, I know we're in a different country, but it was their fault. I mean, there was no power. There was no power whatsoever. I mean, yeah, they don't care, you know, they could care less. They didn't even take them to the hospital. They said, "No, you got to get to Uber." And it sounds like in the 70s, I want to say, and it was just I mean, six, $200. I thought I thought our medical was bad here. Yeah. No, it's Thank God ours is still better than a third world country, but only slightly. Gus, thank you for calling New Jersey what I want. Real quick, Judy, I want something you said earlier about the poisoning of drinks. Would they make people sick on purpose so they go to the hospital and the hospitals get money? Was that like the That's what the uh prevailing thought is, but it's never been proven. But you know how all these people get sick from tainted drinks? Yeah. They wake up the next morning, they don't know how they got to or they're beaten up. So they have a deal that they taint the drinks with the employees. They pay them or the hotel, we don't know. Then they get sick. They're all roofied. They get beaten up. So they have to go to the hospital the next day. And then the hospital's in on it, too. And they get the money. It's a whole big thing. There's another reason I don't want to go to another country, Judy. I There's enough places to see here in the United States. Although the wife wants to go to Greece, so I still have to make that happen. All right. So what happened to you? Nightmare in a foreign country. And when we come back, I will read the two report cards about Kyle and EJ without me for the past few days. Both of them are polar opposite opinions. Nice. I'll tell you those reviews when we come back. 1019. Here's New Jersey. Your car shouldn't be a hassle. And it's so This is the story of the one. This is It's not funny, but it's my biggest nightmare. Hi, Carl. How you doing, folks? Um, yeah, let me preface this by just saying I I'm 76 years old. About 10 years ago, my wife and I were in London. I had been in London on business. Why do you guys know why he had to say his age? He's proud of his age. Very proud. I'm sorry. Listen, no, it's fine. Is a reference to 100%. Sometimes I need Listen, I I hope I make it to 76. It's Me, too. I would love to make it to 76. But, you know, sometimes you just wonder, is it gerine to the point of the conversation? Yes, it's life experience. We We want to hear more, Carl, about your life experience. Go ahead, sir. Is that what it is, DJ? Uh, anyway, I u we were at the hotel for a few days. had been feeling sick and all of a sudden I was very ill. So my wife called the hotel and they got an ambulance and it came quickly and uh when I got to the hospital being uh that I was not a resident of England and um you know it was emergency situation. I had about three doctors, three nurses, everything was done great. I had to stay overnight. It turns out I had a severe case of a fibrillation. So the next day I was feeling better. They did all this work. It was $1,600 per night because obviously I'm not under the socialist uh system there. And it was great, unbelievable. But then again, when I was in the ward, which I hadn't seen since I'm a little kid in Brooklyn, uh speaking to the British people, socialist man, they can't when you're not in e situation, you can't get access to it. They're very, it's a first world nation. The doctors are brilliant. Obviously, the British people are intelligent. problem is can't get access to it. And u it's that's what people over here don't understand. They hear about free. First of all, it's not free and you pay $7 a gallon for gas, but uh the socialist system is is dangerous. And when you're over 65, they don't do certain things. They have people high rate of death from cancer as compared to the US. Canada is the same way. We're getting very close to that, Carl, in the system that we have right now. Another reason to say, ladies and gentlemen, to anybody over the age of oh, I don't even know, 50, at least you're almost dead. That's the good news. Carl, thank you so much. And I'm so happy that you're healthy today. I have a question, Judy. Yes. So, the $10,000 that you have to pay uh upfront Yeah. Is is there any way you get any of that back through your insurance company or is it is it it I would imagine you would though because right aren't you allowed to submit claims after something happens if you go to an out of network doctor way out of network you know it's like they're not going to well it is but it's a real hospital right I feel if you went to like a witch doctor in a foreign country then no but if it's a legitimate doctor and they could provide you with legitimate medical records I would say you could get something back. You know, Puna is they still the airport still has thatched roofs. I know. But no, they they made those thatch the Puntaana airport is actually beautiful. They designed it that way. I think the Puntana airport is supposed to look thatched, but it's not really It can be thatched. We Where the hell are we? Why What's What these like these uh island huts that I love though that you can I'm sure they have witch doctors in Paakana. Well, when was the last time you were there? Because it's pretty built up. Early 2000s, maybe 04. That's not that long ago. 21 years. Yeah. I The truth is though, I mean, that island, think of it, the island is called, what's it called that it's on? Dominica or something like that. No, no, no. It's called um Haiti. No, it's the one that it's stuck to Haiti. I forget what that island is called, but like two miles over is like Haiti. Like, could you imagine? I know. Imagine going to visit Haiti and then getting sick there. I hate to say it, but um because we might have Haitians listening. You go vacation in Haiti. You probably get a good deal there, right? I I bet you. And the weather's probably great. But what the hell is the name of that island, people? It's either It's like something with the word Dominica in it or something like that. Yes. No, it's not. Um Yeah. I don't know. You have to ask the chat GPT. That's our our fourth co-host. We have Judy, Kyle, EJ, and Chat GPT. Hey Siri, what is the name of the island that uh the Dominican Republic shares with Haiti? Here's an answer from Wikipedia. Hispanola. Hispanola. Okay. Right. All right. Remember that? You remember hearing hearing that? Clearly not. Oh, no. Cuz I was in Dominican Republic when they had that huge horrible earthquake in Haiti. Oh. And I was like, "Oh my god, I'm on the same island." But like we didn't really feel it. You didn't feel the rumble. No, but that was so scary. So that's how I learned it was Hispanola. Anyway, Clinton has another nightmare story. I And it involves snorkeling, which is something that I can't even understand why people do. So Clinton, stay on with us. We can't wait to hear how it ended. And thank God he's calling us cuz that mean he that means he's alive. Thank you. Um again, getting sick in Mexico. Very very scary proposition. 10:30 on Judy and EJ. We'll be back with your calls, your nightmares in on vacation, especially they involved if they involved getting sick. Your call coming up. Slipped by the pool, hit his head, blame a brain bleed, $15,000 surgery, and now he's stuck in the hospital until he's well enough to fly home. Uh nothing that severe for us. Judy, just my wife and I both got the flu while we were at South Beach, Miami a few years ago. Oh, I remember that. Yeah, we were pretty sick. Yeah, that's that's horrible. I think I told you that this too that Mark and I went when we were first married to one of these places with like the champagne glass. Kyle, do you know about this or they don't exist anymore? Champagne glass hotel rooms were like there's a big champagne glass in the room. That's a I guess. And I see from the look on your face, you think I'm nuts. It's a jacuzzi in the room that's shaped like a champagne glass. I'm unfamiliar. Okay, thank God. They must not do it anymore because it was even disgusting back then. But it was like this romantic thing. You'd go to the Poconos and the room would have some type of jacuzzi in it. Some of them were champagne glasses. Some of them were just like a random jacuzzi in the room or heart-shaped. Heart-shaped. Yeah. Or some of them were just like you had like a pool in the room which stunk of like chlorine. So the whole room stunk. It was There was a place around here called in of the Dove. There was a few of them in South Jersey and over in Pennsylvania. We stayed at one once. Yeah, of course. Everybody has to stay in one once. Kyle, I cannot believe you've never You've got to go. It's like something couples must do. I've never heard this. Yeah. It's like the cheesiest thing on earth. But my wife and I broke furniture in the in the dove, but I I can't I can't get into that. Oh, I can't wait to hear about this. I'll have to tell you off the air because I don't want to be dirty. Okay. Well, I'll just tell you this. Um, we it's a first of all, it's a right of passage for every relationship, Kyle. So, you're not really a couple until you've done this. So, like it's a Valentine's Day or anniversary thing and you walk in and you go, "Oh my god." Like, this is the cheesiest thing on earth. But still, you have to do it. You know, actually, we broke furniture in two different hotel rooms. Move on. Very good, Kyle. Very good. I feel the same way. Like, do you notice we didn't want you to tell the story on the air? That's why I continued. But here's the thing. I learned that type of behavior from you, Judy. I know. But I threw up in the champagne glass jacuzzi. Oh. Yeah. But I threw up outside of the champagne glass cuz I knew not to throw up in the water. But anyway, we were there for like a long weekend and the rest of the long weekend like I ended up in bed and Mark just sat there alone in the champagne glass. Poor Mark. Because he's like, "We we haven't booked." like I wasn't in the mood the way I was feeling to even get in a car and make the long drive back. So I'm just like I'll just lie here. You go do what you want. So he went for like a hike alone. It's like a really romantic That's what when me and Linda were in P uh in South Beach. She was sick first and then I was sick. So we had separate vacations while being together. I I you was out on the beach by myself uh doing vacation things by myself, you know, and then I was sick and then she did vacation things by herself. It's so it's so funny. But then me just like waking up in a sweat from this stomach virus and looking up and seeing Mark on this. By the way, Kyle, the champagne glass is 8 ft tall. There's like a ladder going up to it. So I like wake up in this like haze and I look up and I see Mark glass by himself. I've never I've never seen that before. You've not seen I've done the heart shape, but I've never seen the champagne where you have to How tall is the ladder? Is it It's like an eight foot ladder or something like that. Yeah. I mean, it's as it's almost as high as like Yeah. I mean, you the It's as high as the ceiling. And then at the end of the ladder, is there like a platform and then you like dip into the pool or into the You just It's like a um a built uh what do you call a pool? Like a backyard. Oh, so it's like a ladder going to an above ground pool. Yeah. So, you just step over the little lip of the champagne glass and you're in there. But it's insane. I I'm just picturing this in my mind right now. My mind's eye. I see Mark up on a ladder. Oh my gosh. getting ready to go into a champagne watching TV in like the jacuzzi alone. It was like the saddest thing. But the scariest thing is you guys are making me feel like is this another thing that I dreamed the champagne glass jacuzzi? I only know the heart-shaped jacuzzi. How do you guys not Okay, I got to Kyle. I'm going to Google it right now cuz I can't picture it in my head. It's a riot. And I thought Anna the Dove had it too. Well, not we only went to one one time and then it we didn't go back. Let me tell you what turned me off about in of the dove. Why I never took that leap. Is this it? Let me see. Yeah, it's exactly it. Oh my god. Let me see. Show that again, please. We're looking at it and let's describe it to our radio listeners. Picture that they gave us. It's very racy. Couple. Imagine Mark sitting in there with his tushy showing through the face. It's clear right through. But what I like about that picture though, look at the hairstyles. It's got to be like 1985. Yeah. There's another one. This is like the 80s. It's higher. Bring it up a little higher. Pull it. Yeah. Lower. Okay. So, this one Oh my god. at least has the good sense to make the bottom opaque. But we had one with a clear bottom. Yeah. Like this. Like this one. No. Okay. So, I actually saw his tushy. The flattened bottom one. Yeah. It was ridiculous from from the beds. I picturing that up. It was horrific. Anyway, 18002. I'm so happy they still have them. Kyle, does it look like there's a hotel that still has it or they just show? I mean, it it looks like it. Yeah. So, we could still book. There's romantic Pocono Resorts. Okay. So, let's do a live a live broadcast. That is super cool to me. Jacuzzi. Oh my. But but the that the fact that there's those retro type hotel rooms in the Poconos that they're still there, that's pretty cool. Well, half the Poconos like still isn't developed. So, that's the place to have it. Some of that stuff is still like from 1975. They've never updated. And there's abandoned places up there, too. Beautiful, huge resorts that are just nature's taken them over. Okay. So, now picture me when I the year I got married and those things have already been there for 30 years or whatever, right? And I walk into this room and the carpet is shag. Now, people have walked down off of that champagne glass. God knows what's in the water. Walked on that and the bedding. I mean, can you imagine how disgusting that they say you need to walk in those rooms with a black light to see if there's any special reflections. Yeah, there's a lot of special reflections. You didn't even need a black light. All right. 1 800 2831015 is our phone number. We got far a field of our original topic. That would be called a tangent, but we love our tangents here. Wait, you're running out of time. It's America on a Thursday with New Jersey 101.5. Sometimes that used to happen with me and Dennis where like the bumper music would just be so perfect and he he would do it and then I'd be like, "No, no, no. I want to do it." I can't help but do it. I know. And for those of you who don't know what we're talking about, both of us, uh, Eric and I both used to be, or EJ and I used to both be music dish jockeyies. I was seven months ago. And when you have an introduction like that with no uh with no what do you call it EJ with no words on it. It's an intro. Yeah. But I'm saying before the the words kick in. The ramp. Ramp. We used to call it a ramp. And you'd have to talk over it and come up with some clever thing to say before the words came in. But you need to be conversational and you need to be topical, right? And you know there's a finesse to it. Like there's the finesse to doing this like staying on topic. I know. But there were some of them, EJ, like that one. I never played it as a current, right? But no, no. We would be really old if we did. The best one was um Dancing in the Moonlight. One of the best um intros to any song to talk up. Well, you can talk it up next hour. We'll return with Do it now, Judy. I'll reset the topic during New Jersey. This is how I used to sound when I was Jersey Judy. and all your favorite oldies. Here come more for you on your Thursday. No, you can't do it because the timing is off here. Oh, you can't do it because your timing is off because you're the count before the post. I'm sorry, but you won't hear how perfect it is. I was listening to you do it. I was like, she's got to speed this thing up. Yeah. She's awful at this. No, no, no, no. I have I have to Okay. Could you Could I get another chance? Yeah. Hold on. All right. All right. Now, here's King Harvest. All right. Very good. But for me, it was perfect for you as well. No, you hit it. You did a good job on that. No, but I think for you it was late. No, you you were good. No, I'm very upset. No, you hit it. You were fine. Everything's good, Judy. You were good. You're good. Shall I reset the topic? Yes. Well, let me just say one thing. No. Judy says no. I'm the boss. I'm the boss of this show. No. Okay. Say it. Oh. New Jersey man stuck in the Caribbean after suffering a serious injury. He slipped by the pool. We don't know why he slipped by the pool. Can we guess why? I mean, he's at an all-inclusive resort. I can only think of one thing why he would slip by the pool. He may well everything that happens in these all they do is drink there is all they all they do is drink there and the funny thing is I never drink in any of these places but Mark brings his own liquor because I think he's afraid of this but whenever we've been to we don't go to all-inclusives anymore because I don't know EJ the last time you went to one yeah long time ago it's a different kind of customer that's the only thing I can say different like changing demographics It's more yeah changing demographics because they keep making them cheaper and cheaper and cheaper and cheaper. Okay. So the people who can afford them sometimes are like young rowdy college kids or like bachelor parties and it's just like a little too much. Yeah. It's not like we stopped going to them when our kids grew up cuz for kids it's the cheapest vacation you could take. It's like Jersey Shore Snooky mayhem. Exactly. Yes. 10. So, have you ever gotten injured or sick on vacation? Let's guy can't leave and it cost him $15,000. Let's go to TJ. Judy TJ in Freehold on New Jersey 101.5. Hello, sir. Even though you let me smash that post and told me I didn't hit it. You did hit it. You didn't smash it. I know, but for you on your side, I I was listening to it, Judy, it sounded fine. I'm very upset right now, TJ. We're so sorry. We I I would like to apologize on behalf of the group. No, you can't speak for me. You cannot speak for me. Well, we Okay, I'm not TJ. Tell your story. All right. So about 25 years ago, my wife and I uh we were kind of newly wed and we went on vacation down to Cancun at some resort and um uh one day we're out on one of those buses taking us back to uh the resort and a downpour storm came like un unlike I've ever seen and there was probably about four to five inches of rainwater just on the sidewalk, you know, like it was coming down the sheets. So, I jump off the bus and my sneaker hydroplaned and and my butts up in the air, my feet are up in the air, and to prevent myself from smacking my head on the sidewalk, I put my, you know, arms back to brace myself from the fall. Well, in that process, I partially tore the rotator cuff on my shoulder. That's the worst. And and and I I didn't know it at first, right? I land. I'm like, "Oh, it's like trauma, you know." And then I get up and we run into the the uh the place where we were staying in the hotel. And then the next day I was in so much pain from my shoulder that I said, you know, to the people. I'm like, "What do I do? Do you have like a masseuse?" I said, "Oh yeah, we have this masseuse place out on this beautiful beach. It overlooks the water and I'm out there." Okay. I'm laying on the table. I'm getting a massage on my shoulder. A storm comes like 60 mph wind. So they're like, "Quick, get up." So, I get up from the seat and like they had like a bamboo framework around the area where they're massaging you with like drapes on it. Well, the drapes are working like a sail which causes the wind to blow and it makes the uh the whole bamboo thing snap. And what does it do? It smacks me in the skull. Oh my god. I got I got hit right on the forehead. I get this knot on my head. I'm knocked over like seeing stars. And I go back to the hotel and I'm like, I got a sore shoulder with a partially ripped rotator cuff. I've got a knot on my head from I feel like I feel like this could not have all happened to one person. So, it's like vacation wasn't that enjoyable. I can't It took me probably about 11 months for that partial tear to kind of heal up. Like every night I had to hug a pillow in a position. It was terrible. Okay, TJ, I've got to wrap you up because I had no idea that this was a uh full-fledged Hollywood movie, but um we've got more coming up on Judy and EJ. That's a great We'll be back. Thank you. I got to ask you about your pain. Imagine if today was the day your idea changed someone's life. EJ/Eric Johnson across from me. And of course, Kyle Forscini is here with us on buttons and knobs. Do you want to see how good he is at it? You're hearing it. Push a button. Push a button. People don't know that. Well, there you go. There you go. He's amazing. You know, he's got a smile today. I think he's in a good mood and I don't know why. Smile. I've been trying to figure this out. I actually don't know. I Well, it's funny that you should say that because Steve in Newark wrote, "Kyle is having such a good time. It's great." And I'm like, we notice the same thing. Like what is going on? Yeah, some days are are better than others. I don't know. You know, you wake up on the right side of the bed. It's Judy. It's you being back. It's clearly that. You may be right. So, I think I think that's what it is. You may be right. Oh, can I mention something? Can I You mind if I mention it's very important. You're asking me. All right. I'm doing it anyway. $10,000 Thursday in the at work payday. Your chance to win $10,000. Another cash code at 1120. What would you do with the money? $10,000. That really would come in handy. By the way, I don't think that I'm eligible. Am I correct? Well, you would be correct. Your kids probably are. No, I think it's like if you're a relative of town in the fine print. Yeah. Well, how about this? Your your in-laws would be uh eligible. Okay. Or maybe your in-laws family. Can dead people win? It's your in-laws family. They can dead people could win. They they vote. They collect social security. Okay. So, um, God, I'm so happy to be back here with you guys. Were you thinking about us as you were holidaying? No, not at all. Oh, jeez. But it's just so nice to see. We were thinking about you while you were holiday. We talked about you all day yesterday. It was so nice to No, you didn't even mention my name. Oh, all day. We Hey, it's a Judy and EJ show. It's Kyle EJ today. 1800 283. True. But I haven't seen Kyle smiling like this in a long time. I think we have to call Ally. I think Ellie, well, I need to get the smiles in now because the game hour is tomorrow when there will be none of that then. So, I have to It's a good game tomorrow. I'm calling it News Jersey Quizo and it's going to be a quiz about current events happening right now in mid-occtober. Why'd you have to ruin the moment, Kyle, by bringing up the game? The most tense hour of the entire week. All right. Speaking of tension, this is something that couples almost always argue about long-term couples and significant others, husbands, wives, etc., etc. I want to bring this up because I think I did the wrong thing beginning in this relationship with my husband. It's been a few years. Um, obviously we've been married a long time, but I never said to him, um, let's do the money this way or let's do the money that way. I just kind of, you know, came in with my own checking account. He came in with his own savings and checking and whatever. And never the twain shall meet. Now, we got into this like weird thing where like because our money is like se it's together. It's like we have signatures on all each other's things. I could go into his account, look at it, take money from it. He could to mine too, but they're separate. And that poses an issue sometimes because let's say his account is like low. He'll be like, "Hey, can you give me like money for the pool guy?" And I'm like, "Okay, but that's your thing." You know what I mean? Like, why is it my You guys have assigned tasks. Yeah. And so, I think that's the wrong way to do it. I think most couples that I know are like you and your wife and I think I don't know what um Kyle and Ally do. Like, do you guys now that you're sharing a household, do you have like one account for that? Uh, no. So, I pay the rent. Um, and then there's one thing that go that she has. I forget what it is. It might be utilities that like she just gets the bill for. We split everything, but like I'm the one that's putting the upfront cost for the rent and she'll do it. But you don't have one account. No. So, I think that that's the smart thing to do if you're going to be in a long-term relationship because there is sometimes some resentment when they're separate. Even if it's both of your money, it does become my money, your money. My paycheck goes into an account that has my name on it. His paycheck goes into account that has his name on it. So, you know what I'm saying? It shouldn't. I think most people do what you guys do and that's healthy. Yeah. From day one, our accounts have always been merged. We always had, you know, a joint checking account. Um, and but early in our marriage, I used to pay the bills. And, you know, early part of your marriage, you're really not doing that great financially. I I used to do a practice called and I think other people can relate to this selective bill paying. I only got so much money and then you you you pay the bills that might be a little overdue and then let another bill go overdue or whatever it might be. I was very but whatever happened it put me in a really really foul bad mood. My wife is used to me being sort of happy and a go-lucky, even killed and whatnot, but when I paid bills, I was a different person altogether. And since the early 90s, she's been doing the task of paying the bills because it makes me so angry. It should go along with personality. It really should. If one person gets annoyed for like I tell him all the time, please take it over cuz I am stressed and think about it all day long, you know? Um, and he's always like, "Okay, anytime you want, but that involves sitting down and discussing like how much this is and this much to the the and the condo and this much to your car and I I just I get lazy." So, here, let me ask you about this. You have two separate accounts. Um, and you have your cars and you have your utility bills. And so, do you have some of the bills come out of your account and he has some of the bills come out of his account? Yeah. Like he That's confusing. Oh, I know. And he that's why we never get together to put it in one, right? Because it's already too confusing. Like every single auto pay out of my account has been like that for a hundred years. Like the mortgage comes out of my account. All of the outdoor bills, landscaping and pool and all comes out of his account. Like how are we going to like put it together? So we just never did. Well, the autopay helps a lot because that takes the emotion out of it. It's like, okay, I got direct deposit. I got the auto pay. I don't even have to think about how much money I have or don't have. Before with the checking book, you know, the check checking account, the what they call that, the checkbook. You used to get so angry. Yes and no. Because like we had to put in a new pool liner last summer and it was like five grand. So he's like, "Do you want to go BIES for it?" I'm like, "Okay." That's how he says you want to go half. You want to go Bies? Like, "Okay, fine." Yeah. Bies. I don't know. It's like a Brooklyn thing. So I'm like, "Okay, fine." So he pays the guy, right? And I guess he's expecting bies from me. So like six months later, he's like, "Okay, you have the 2500." And I'm like, "No, I had He's chasing you down for money like Tony Soprano does." Exactly. And I'm like, "I had it 6 months ago. I don't have it now." And the next thing you know, he's like threatening to bring guys in to break my kneecap. No, that doesn't happen. But like I'm like, I I don't like this Bies thing. Like put everything in one container and you pay everything. Do you understand what I'm saying? Yes, I do. Yes. It's so frustrating. Anyway, Diane at Cinnamonson has it worked out like we do, but it doesn't work. No, no, no. You do it like I do. You're saying? Yes, I do. And how does that work? Is doesn't it get annoying? No. When we've been married 47 years, when we first got married, I did the bookkeeping and we were on a single family salary, so we did okay. And then my husband wanted fancy speakers and I didn't have the money so he got mad and we separated it. And we do good. He pays the big stuff, the taxes, the car payments, utilities, and I do the the visa, the little stuff, the CVS bills, my gas, you know. Okay. So, this is how it's supposed to work with with me and Mark. But then anytime, I don't understand this. Anytime I want to go buy something expensive, I got to go to him and say, "I'm taking it." Or you just take what you want. Like, how does that work? I don't buy anything really expensive. Okay. Even if he wanted fancy sneakers, you you said he wanted fancy sneakers. Okay. So, you go to fancy sneakers. He doesn't. Now, you look at the account. It's less $200, whatever it is. Now all of a sudden you could just spend whatever you want. No, you don't get it. We stay with the the visa bills paid off every month. If you don't have the money, you don't get it. Right. Right. Okay. All right. I'm still confused. We're fortunate. Yeah, we're fortunate. We have um pensions and we have our social security. So, you know, we're not really strapped for cash. What's What's a pension? Can you explain what that is? I I'm not quite sure. I don't have that. No, I understand. New York. You were smart. You You got the right job. It's just a foreign con. It's foreign to us in radio broadcasting. No pensions. All right. Thanks. Thank you, Diane. Although, I have to say though, EJ, when I uh one of my radio jobs, the one in New York City, Yeah. was a union job. Okay. Oh, yeah. They get a pension. The union people do. Yeah. I could have gotten a little pension from that, right? Yeah. I have some friends that are of a certain age and they're in the union and they they get a pension. They have to work and they get health care, too. Even if they work part-time. Oh my god. When I came to this station, I still had my union after uh healthcare, right? I mean, I was amazing. They pay for like powdering my private parts. They paid. Well, that's important. [Music] But you know what I'm saying? Yes, I do. It was ridicul that that union coverage. It's in. They would have bought me a horse. If I told them it's healthy, they would have bought me a horse. Endless powder. It's been endless powder from my private. All right. 1119. Who takes care of the bills in your couple? Uh, your calls coming up at 1800 2831015. And also, we'll get to the app chat messages soon, too. That's coming up next. It's 1119. Do you have separate accounts? And, uh, who handles the task of paying the bills? Our research says that wives more often handle the actual task of paying bills, like logging into the accounts and managing due dates. And isn't that funny, though? Setting up the online payments. I feel like it's the opposite of what used to happen in the olden days. Like, why are women always in charge of it? Yeah. for I because uh I don't know they have better organizational skills than dudes do. I don't know. True. But do you think that's emasculating in a way? Well, I'm okay with it because I hate paying bills. But but there's an official study. Have you ever heard of the Pew Research Center, Judy? Of course. This is a big deal. The Pew Research Center, Council on Contemporary Families, wives tend to take the lead on day-to-day financial management. Husbands are more likely to handle long-term financial planning. That's from the pew. And so that is not me being sexist or anything. That's from the pew and they spent a lot of money on research. So tell us about how you manage your money with your spouse or significant other. 1 800283101.5 who handles the bill paying at your house, Kyle. Goes back and forth a little bit. I mean I I mainly do most of them. She'll do I think it's like I said utilities and then I do the Expinity payment, rent, uh water bill, all that fun stuff. It doesn't make you angry. I don't love it, but I mean I just don't like seeing money come out of my account period. Now you're talking about having to balance a checkbook and all that stuff back in the day. I just like you said have it come out of my account. I watch the money get taken out. But I'm also I I check my account pretty religiously which isn't good, but I've had my card I've had my card get hacked before. That's a good question. So, I'm always afraid that it's going to happen again and I don't want to not look and then all of a sudden I'm I'm out 10 grand. Yeah. Well, that's true, too. But, I mean, I check my checking account. It's It's a sickness. It is. And I don't like it. I look at it 20 times a day. Why? I look at it only when I think it's okay. When I think it might be down, I I'm in denial and I don't want to look at it. Like I said before, I kind of do the same thing. Like I'll say, "Okay, I know I get paid on the 15th. I know she gets paid on the 15th. So, if I look at it on the 15th, it'll be okay. But if I look at it on like the last day before you get paid 29th, forget it. I'm not going to look at it. Yeah. And but then I go through periods too where I become obsessed with it and I look at all the different things that we used our card for and I see abbreviations on there that make no sense to me and I think, "Oh my god, I've been hacked." Oh, wait, no, I did that. Well, so I what I hate the most is when I'll have a subscription and I I don't even remember I'm subscribed to But I'm like, "Okay, I got paid today. I should be good cuz I haven't used my card in the last 3 days." But I check 3 days later thinking I've got the same amount of money. Next thing you know, 25's been taken out. I'm like, I've been hacked. And it's like, oh no, I have an Adobe I have an Adobe subscription that I forgot that I do use. How about just in general subscriptions or things that show up on your checking account that you really can't tell what they are? Oh, all the time. Yeah. I'm like, who what have I done in Florida? Nothing. What did I do in Fresno, California? You know, it's assuming abbreviations and and where their main office might be or something like that. They It's not helpful. I'll tell you that. I get stuff from I get stuff from the vending I get stuff from the vending machine here all the not all the time but frequently and it's like I've spent money in Canada. No I haven't. It's right there. It's not in Canada. And it's also weird cuz it's like you know how if somebody's trying to hack you or something they'll do like the little small purchases first and it's like $3.99 Ontario. I'm like huh? Oh my god. That's I'm like oh wait no I did get a drink bar you idiot. All right let's go to Brian uh the cheese guy in Howell. Brian, welcome to the show. Hey, Judy. How are you? Good. Glad to be back with my boys. Yeah, they I'll tell you, they do a fine job, though. That's what I hear. I hear it's even a better job. No, I wouldn't say that. They do they do they do a good job and everybody does their part and uh it's just nice to hear your voice again. Yeah, we do a good job, Judy. You do a great job. Shut up. Now, what do you got, Bri? So, I love this topic and thank God for my wife. So, my wife does all the bills, but we budget everything. So, we'll we'll talk about like what we're going to spend and then she makes sure that everything's taken care of. But she balances her checkbook to the penny every week. And if it's not balanced, it's like, you know, it's it's a big thing. Yeah. She's one of those like women that she's has her communion money under the mattress. That's amazing. If I was in charge of the finances, we we'd have one of those driveways where you see like three trucks, you know, I bought the first truck, but I need the other two trucks for the parts. Right. Right. Right. I'd be that guy like, well, but it's a great investment, you know, because when I'm finished with it, it'll be worth a lot of money. I'd be that guy. So, thank God for my wife. She's the yang to my yang. I think a lot of women are that in the household now. Brian, thank you so much for calling and I'm glad that you have one of those wives. But I do feel like in a way it can be emasculating. like you really I'm sorry but there's something about a man who brings home the bacon and I realize it can't really be this way anymore especially if you live in New Jersey but when I see a woman who's solely in charge of doing out the money I just feel like eventually there are going to be arguments about that well you know I I've always been the primary uh bread winner my wife was a stay-at-home mom when the kids were little and you now she works and she's had so many great jobs and she's so uh versatile and resourceful and she can do just about anything where I can just do one thing. But fortunately, you know, the these jobs have paid pretty well over the years. Um and I've never really looked the fact that she does the task of paying bills as No, not the task of paying bills, but because it's almost like, oh yeah, I had my assistant take care of that. Yeah. Okay, that's a that's a better I know she's not listening now because she's not on a lunch break, but so I can say things like that. That's a better way of looking at it, though. But I'm not kidding. That can be for a man and you got to be really secure under your masculinity to h have your wife be in that position to be controlling the money. Yeah, I have no problem. Good for you. Yeah. All right, it's 11:30. Who pays the bills in your house? Um, is it necessarily one or the other? Does it kind of go both ways? Separate accounts? You got one big joint account? Your phone call is coming up next. And we'll read some of your app chat messages too right after this. It's Judy and EJ. Stay with us. October is breast cancer awareness. It really truly is the Judy and EJ show today. Judy's back. It's Judy Kyle and me, EJ, and the Steve Miller band. 1-800 283101.5. We're talking about who pays the bills, who does the actual task of paying the bills in your home. And do you have separate accounts? How do you manage money? 1800 283101.5. Abby and Warren Township got a divorce because of all of this. And I told you it can be a recipe for disaster if you don't handle it correctly. So tell us your story, Abby. Hi Judy and team. I'm passionate about this financial subject because it ultimately severed my marriage after 19 years. For over a decade we were shouldertoshoulder and he always left me to pay all the bills and um so at least life in the financial subject was copathetic for all those years. Then after my spouse lost his uh job and he he took a step back for one too many years leaving all the financial heavy lifting to me until we ultimately drained our savings and him telling me you figure it out. You're the math genius. Well, you can't manage what you don't have. It took me a therapist to tell me that I was being taken advantage not only financially but in other areas which ultimately you know broke my heart in a million pieces. But I had to make the very difficult decision of filing for divorce. And let me tell you I am my only recommendation to the world is including my child and anybody getting married make your arrangements in writing at the onset when it comes to financial matters because then it becomes a real disaster and it could impact your emotional relationship. Honestly, I think this only matters if you have a lot of money. You must have It matters on both. It matters on both areas because if you're shoulderto-shoulder and then somebody loses their job, you can't literally pick up for somebody else forever if you've been working at everything together. But things happen. I mean, crap happens in relationships. And I can't imagine that it's solely financial reasons. There had to be weaknesses in the relationship to begin with. Oh, absolutely. But those weaknesses um are not so detrimental until the financial burden adds up and then you start disconnecting. Absolutely agree 100%. We're both been married. You know, life has a lot of, you know, marriage is very complex and it's beautiful when it's great and even at its best, it has its challenges. I really do believe, you know, it's funny. My husband uh volunteers at a social services company where people um who have a hard time paying the bills come in for advice and he says they come in about money couples and it ends up to be never about money. Like yeah they need money but the issues are so much deeper than that and a lot of these marriages could be saved if people would get to the root of the problem. So I know what you're saying Abby definitely it's complicated. There's so there are so many complications in marriage. But then again, I know people who can't stand each other and they stay because there's a lot of money, right? You know, right? And I agree with all the I 100% agree with you, Judy. And I also agree with the part that it financial aspect may not be what triggered it, but if you if two people are not willing to come to the table with their differences and work it out together, it can be one-sided. One person alone cannot sustain a a lifetime relationship. Yes. And Abby, thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. Judy, that's super interesting to me, you know, that that the money is like, you know, an iceberg is like above the surface and you just see a little bit of that and then underneath is all this stuff and that the money represents it's just an excuse to I don't know, as you put it, it was like the the head of something that but there's a root way underneath it and you're not dealing with that. And it's so true and you're using the money as an excuse to fight, but there's things you need to get to. So I feel like that is what makes marriages strong. And that's why I always say uh people say, you know, money can't buy happiness. It can't. It just is a good band-aid for a lot of stuff cuz so many relationships where people have tons and tons of money. Their relationship sucks, right? And if you use money struggles as a way to strengthen your relationship, um, practice communication skills and be able to come to the table like she said, and be to grown-ups, you have a better marriage board. And then other people use spending money for trips or gifts or home improvements as as sort of a band-aid for things that are going on underneath. Right. I do too sometimes. Like if I'm in a bad mood Yeah. And I I literally could Target could put me in a good mood. If I go to seriously if I go and spend my, you know, 75 or 100 bucks in Target on stupid stuff that like, you know, I needed a little organizer for my mail, right? Shopping therapy, right? Is that what they call that? Yeah. I don't know why it works for a lot of people, but it does. Um Kevin in Lakewood is lucky cuz his wife's an accountant, so she does everything, Kevin. Uh, she does everything. I'm retired. on a fixed income. She's still working. She's uh 10 years younger than I am. And we've been getting along fine for years. It's just everything goes into one big pot and you just turn around and it's it's fine. She she does a great job. Uh like I said, she has an accounting degree. She's very good with numbers. She's been that way almost all her life. And for for a perfect example, yesterday the car broke down and she came up with $1,200. Yeah. You know what? The more he's talking about this, the more I see what a mess we are. We're lucky that we're still happy. We are a mess. Oh, we've been together for quite some time and I'm very, very happy. Uh Kevin, thank you so much for calling. That's a great story. Um, you know, I when it comes to like spending, she wants to get some something on Amazon or whatever. And you know, the Amazon is therapy in itself. Like I got home yesterday, got in the driveway, I walked up to the house, there was a box sitting there. Oh, a box. It was only pet food, but still Amazon, but you have stuff that So, when she buys stuff on Amazon, you know, we don't even she gets what she gets. I get what I want to get. But we just recently bought a couch and a love seat. We discussed that. We went shopping together. You know, larger expenditures are discussed together. smaller everyday things. We just do our own thing. Well, somebody wrote on the app chat, EJ, um Abby was just reading her divorce court speech. It was very It kind of sounded like it. Um it was very convincing. And then a lot of people do have different ways of doing this, but I have a feeling when he brought this up um our last caller and said we needed a repair and my wife like came up with $1,200, no problem. And I'm just realizing like if I die, god forbid, tomorrow, like Mark has no idea where I have like $1,200 in this investment account and then I opened an Erade account like 10 years ago. There's like 12,000 in there. Like how am I going to show him where all this money is? Like he's never going to find my money. And you got that cash staff stashed in the mattress somewhere. And I have Yeah, I have this old pocket book has $600. I don't know. You know, I really want to give Dave Allen Hurst his time because he's going to explain why what I'm doing is so wrong. And I hope he can hang on because we do have to take a break. Dave, stay with us. I I do believe that what I'm doing and if you guys are listening and you have all separate accounts, it isn't good for you. Dave's going to tell us why right after this 11:44 weather, traffic, and your call. And Dave next you guys about my friends overall. It's the New Jersey time. Marital money management. That sounds like the name of a financial seminar we should have. That's what we're talking about this hour. 1800 283101.5 on the Judy and EJ show. It's funny. I just am reading this WhatsApp, I mean apphat message that says, "Sounds like no one has gone to an estate planning attorney for advice. Please let them tell you which plan is best for your household. Please let them write wills and trusts to protect each of you. I paid $12,000. I thought that was exorbitant, but that's apparently what it costs. or wow will trust um and the I forget what else they I don't know I don't have any of that set stuff set up yet I have no so I set this I set this all up and I'm so proud of myself right they give me a book this fat and I this guy's this what beneficiary and this is what the how that we put the house in the trust and an irrevocable trust don't even ask I don't understand one bit of it I'm still asking who pays the grocery bill. I mean, that's like So when when Maryanne and Yuing is like, "You didn't go to a trusted." Oh, yeah, I did. Does it tell me who pays the freaking grocery bill, right? They don't tell you who pays the grocery. It's not more immediate. It's something that's out there and you're going to be gone anyway. Let them worry. So, they protected I'm imagining they protect me when it comes to all those little accounts I have online, like when I decided to invest in this or that. But how's he going to get to them? He doesn't even know they exist. Yeah. You're going to have to leave a list behind or something. I know. All right. So Dave is going to tell us why we need to have everything all together in one spot. Why is that Dave? Hey Judy EJ. Hey Dave. Well because then you can focus on the marriage and the relationship and money doesn't become the focus of everything. Um, and the other thing which is really important is if when you're starting out, if you can bank one of the incomes and live off the other, it's going to set you up for success way down the line. Oh, yeah. I know. So many people I see going out to dinner. What? Why, you know, why spend $1, $150 for mediocre food that you can make what you like at home? So, I think also really living, I don't want to say below your means, but being practical. Don't buy a new car. buy a pre-owned vehicle, you get so much better value. And when you eliminate that discussion about money, like EJ said, anything we spend over $500 is a discussion and we plan it. Anything under 500, we can kind of do what we want. But if you know somebody's getting a lot of Amazon packages, it says, "Hey, you know, what are you getting from Amazon?" Or if I get, you know, some stereo speakers, hey, you know, how much do they cost? Um, you know, so there is that sounds like it would bring more arguments to the table like butt out. Well, my wife will order ahead of time and then she'll just tell me, "Oh, by the way, I'm getting an order from Amazon today. I got some earrings or whatever it might be." I mean, we do touch base on that, but it's not like she's asking for permission. But I think that if I got a lot of packages, cuz sometimes I do get a lot in a lot of days and he'll be like, "Wow, you're really going uh" And it's just like the most innocent comment like, "Wow, you're really having a good time." And I'm like, "Yeah, why? Who wants to know? Why do you care? It's my money. You know what I mean? Well, I think what you what you have to do is become an influencer because my daughter gets tons of packages every day and doesn't pay for any of them. So, you know, that's Okay, tell me her name. I'm going to follow her. Uh, her name is Vika Vids on Instagram. What is it? But, um, Vikica Vids. Vika Vids. Like video vids. Okay. Yeah. She's not one of those uh Only Fans girls, is she? Stop. No, no, no. She's she's graduated with her masters and she's working for a really good tech company. Uh she just does this for fun on the side now. Good girl. With respect to pay with respect to paying the bills, I pay the bills, but remove the stress. Have them autopay, you know, review them, make sure it's good, but do the autopay and then audit and then, you know, pop in a spreadsheet or something so you can just track how things are going and that relieves the stress. I mean every every month I move a certain amount into Fidelity to pay the visa bill which is automatic. And then the other thing is sit down with a financial advisor. You know discuss your plans and then you know I'm 61 and right now I'm unemployed and you I'm looking for something but if I were to stop working we have a plan and and we'd be fine. And that just alleviates a lot of that stress. Oh yeah. a $1,200 car payment or a car repair or something like that, but you've got to plan for it. Well, Dave, it sounds like you have planned. You say you're unemploy unemployed, but you you know, you're so wise sounding here on on this call that I I think you're doing just fine and that that job will come along. Yeah, thank you for that. And you know, I'm not worried. Did you say maybe not, Judy? Yeah. In other words, it doesn't matter because he set himself up to where if it doesn't come along, he's good. Right. You're right. that cusp of retirement, right? So, I mean, you know, if you want to keep working, yeah, keep working. If not, you'll find a way. Exactly. And you know, the biggest thing like a lot of my friends, you know, they got laid off and then after 6 months, they said, "Well, I guess I'm retired now." And, you know, they go to start collecting social security or they just start living off their their wages. But, you know, I've got a lot more to contribute and, you know, for the right company, it's it's going to be great for both of us. Dave, are you are you in radio? I know. No, I'm not. But uh you know, I'm available for voiceover. Yeah, but it's happening to our business. The thing you're talking about, you could be talking about our industry. So, we appreciate you, Dave. Thanks. It's everywhere. Yeah. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. Uh somebody said next of kinbox, N box. Uh look into that. Comes with everything you need. Your phone calls coming up next on Judy and EJ. We'll be right back. Pain. Any kind of pain. New Jersey chime. Time is 12:09. It's Judy and EJ. I'm Judy Franco. Across from me is EJ. Love to have him here. Aka Eric Johnson. And then Kyle Forsini's here just being annoying in general. I don't know why. Judy, I got to say it's a not only a spectacular day here on the Judy and EJ show, it's a spectacular day outside. My goodness, it is. Maybe that's why we're all smiling. Okay, read out loud what my t-shirt says. Okay. It says, "Hooray sports do the things win the points." No. No. It's I read it wrong. Yes. Isn't that cute? Hooray sports. Do the things. Win the points. Win the points. Yay sports. It's so It's such a good t-shirt for me because because you're not a sports person whatsoever. But yay. Do the thing. Yay team. Do that thing with the ball that you bounce and move around and put in the thing and Exactly. people get up and cheer and yay. Yeah, exactly. We're not doing any of that. Well, maybe I'm doing some of that with the Eagles. They've lost two games in a row, so you know, we're not as hyped on them as we used to. However, the Giants beat the Eagles last week. So, let me tell you something. I have been enjoying the fact that I give you guys your two minutes to talk sports or whatever. I feel like, you know, one of the boys, one of the guys sometimes. One week ago at this time, we were a bit more excited because we're going into Thursday night. The Phillies were playing uh the Dodgers. Uh we were going to get the tattoos if they won, but they didn't win. And then the Eagles play the Giants. And the Eagles fans were sad. But Giants fans are happy. So you know that I was praying for them to lose, right? You wanted us to get those tattoos. No, you didn't want us to get the tattoos. I was very very against that. If you were listening a week ago, we said in the unlikely event that the Phillies would have won out, which they didn't. that in order for this to happen, we thought maybe the odds would work better if Kyle and I would make the commitment to getting our very first ever tattoos. It didn't happen. You would have had to have gotten the tattoos before the game cuz that type of commitment is doing your part. Yeah, I doing it after the win. They know that you're not committed to them. Going into that though, I thought, well, I never said that it would be a permanent tattoo, so I probably would. Oh, you see, and I was going to say, well, I can't get in unless they win the World Series, cuz I can't look back on it and say, "I got a tattoo for them winning the NLDS." That would be We had excuses ready to go. Of course. Okay. Okay. So, don't you think your team knew that? That these were halfass commitments? It's our fault. It's our fault. They may have. Yeah, it is. I wouldn't have went into the karma world that way and the good things didn't come back. Just so you know, everybody hates you right now. Not that you Well, I hate them for the way, not not everybody, but the Phillies for the way that they made me be sad for the But they're bringing the manager back. Yeah, I've got an end of season press conference I need to listen to after this. And the top three horrible batters are going to be back then. Everybody's going to be back. Yeah. Yeah. So, we're talking about Trey and Schwarber and and Harper. Well, we'll see about Schwarber. Yeah. Well, because he's going to be a free agent, right? But but uh Harper, though, so disappointing. Yeah, he wasn't good. I'm depressed now. So, so Bryce Harper, look what you did, EJ. You know how I make my analogies. Bryce Harper is the Carson Wentz of the Phillies. Oh, in what way? Explain this to me. You think they're bad in the locker room? Unfulfilled expectations. Wow. Okay. Wow. Wow. I mean, look, I can't even argue it. They haven't won a World Series. Is that a hot take? Like you sports guys say? Yeah, I would consider it a hot take. Yeah. I mean, he he he's got us going. We didn't want to talk about sports at all this hour. I was so excited for you and your hot take EJ. I thought next stop WFAN, you know. Yeah. All right. It's embarrassing. It's embarrassing. All right. So, here we are. It's 1212. We're just doing our really good Craig Carton invitation. Um, and you actually brought this up, EJ, to me, and I thought it was such a good one. We men have lost their imagination for dates. And I know I'm putting it all on men, blah blah blah. I'm sorry, but even if you match on Tinder and even if you meet a girl in a bar, she's expecting you to come up with the idea for the date. So, we thought, wouldn't it be interesting? It's a beautiful place. New Jersey, there are so many gorgeous venues to have romantic dates in the fall. What is the best fall date in New Jersey? A great idea for a fall date in New Jersey. You could talk about a restaurant. You could talk about a particular beach. You could talk about a walk you like, a hike you like. Why does my light keep going out? But Kyle has a contribution. Read that last commercial you just read. We'll give him a free one here. But this sounds like a great fall date to me. It was the Lorita Winery one. Yeah. You can celebrate Oktoberfest this weekend at Lorita Winery. You can enjoy a fun-filled day with mold wine specialties, homegrown pumpkin and flower picking, vineyard wagon tours, and more. All while enjoying live music. So, Kylie tells me, Kylie Moore from the afternoon show, she said you've got to go to Lorita Winery. It's awesome. So, that's the first one on this hour. That would be a great fall date. Have you not been? I have not been, but it's But you want to do things you haven't done before. It sounds like a great solution to maybe, you know, our anniversary weekend coming up. I think everybody that I know has been there and has fallen in love with it. So, if I'm going to make a post about this and let's see if people come up with good ideas, maybe I can post something about this. Or did you already do that? No. Uh, no. That's somebody else's post. Oh, come up with that came from 943 the point. So you could do one for New Jersey 101.5. Who is that? I'm kidding. It's a station. It's a big big station at the shore. We love them. All right. 1 800 2831015 is our phone number. You're funny. And our app chat um is wide open because we know a lot of people can't necessarily call in. You're at work. You're afraid. You don't know how to use the phone. All different things. Um, I don't like the sound of my voice. You don't like the sound of your voice? You got scared to call radio stations, whatever it is. Judy's mean to me. It's so damn true. Um, Kylie Moore says, "That's literally what I was about to text you. She's their number one fan." Yeah. What does Kylie Moore have like? I don't know. Is she Does she endorse them? Does she have like stock in that company? No, but she just did. It is a cool place. And she's a wine girl, so kind of checks out. I'm glad you said wine girl. I thought you were going to say wineo. She is kind of a wineo, but she doesn't like people to know. That's that's Kylie Moore's personal issue, and I really don't think we should bring it up here on the air. Um, we could help her we could help her overcome it. We could have If you want more of Kylie intervention with Kylie, just DM me. I'll tell you all of Kylie Moore's personal issues. Okay. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. Um, yeah. So, that's the perfect date. Lorita Winery, I have another one. Okay, go. This is great. And I've done this before, and I'm probably not being very creative. My wife probably wouldn't think I was being so creative because we've done it before, but yeah, I love going to Kate May. Um, I, you know, I I I'm good even saying those motel that smell like mold. I mean, I'm good with it. Not the one with champagne. They don't have that in Kate May. But I mean, you could obviously enjoy time on the beach, but I love riding a bike in Kate May County because it's flat down there. You I love riding bikes, but I hate riding my bike up and down hills. But Kate May, great place to ride a bike. You have uh you know, like the Bayside Beach you can check out. There's uh beer uh craft breweries and wineries down there. And then just walking around the town itself with the Victorian and the nice manicured lawn. It's it's it shouldn't even be New Jersey. I agree with you. And I have to say, Kyle, do you have you been to Kate May? Not for a very long time. Okay. I have been there, but not for a while. Can I ask you a personal question? Why does your girlfriend stay with you? You don't take her anywhere. Why? Cuz I haven't been to Kate May. I asked you before. Have you been to the Champagne? Uh, wow. Jacuzzi's with her. Let me ask him this. When was the last non shopping trip sports event oriented date you were on with Ally? I don't know that we've ever done one. Your date is going shopping. Um, and were you f He saw a dog by the way, Judy. He went to Target and and there was an 80 lb dog in a shopping cart at Target. Are you kidding? That's a By the way, you can turn you It's against health laws. You can actually turn them in. Well, I told DJ and you're going to hate me for this that my first reaction when I saw the dog wasn't, "Oh my god, a dog." I was like, "Oh, there's a dog." I don't hate you for it. It's just wrong. So, that's another date. So, we have Lorita Winery, we have Kate May, and we have uh Target. That's three. What do you got? 1800283101.5. Okay. I Sandra has a really good one. But before she does, I just want to say, you know what? I'll save mine because Sandra has one that is the perfect date bot. It is extremely romantic, but I want to give her her time. So Sandra, hang on with us. Let me mention this though. I have $10,000. They got the cash code coming up right after New Jersey Fast Traffic graphs haunt your home this fall. I'm John 1 800 283101.5 talking about your awesome fall dates here in the great garden state. Sometimes Judy, I get my ideas by watching the Bachelor or or Golden Bachelor last night. I think I want to go to an amusement park and I haven't been on a ride in a long time. Uh and the slide, they went down the slide. That was pretty cool. And they're like 65 years old and they're doing all these young people things. What amusement parks are open now? Do we have Six Flags is still open, right? Great adventure. They're open into the fall. Do they open on They have the Fright Fest. Oh, like on the weekends? Yeah. Yeah, on the weekends. And I guess the shore ones, the one ones on the beach are probably all closed. Are they doing Frightfest this year? Ah, that's Well, it's a yearly tradition that's happened my whole life. I'd hate to see that it's not happening anymore and just mention it all. Let's go to Yeah. And I And I don't want to misspeak and people are going to really kill me. Yeah. Right. We want to make sure before you Six Flags Great Adventure doing Frightfest in 2025. Why wouldn't they be, right? They always do it. All right, we'll get They are indeed. It's from September 12th through November 2nd. Now, see, there's a date. So, that's part of it. And then find And when do they open? Like weekends through then. Is that what they do? Yeah, it says select nights. I'll double check for you. It's definitely not every day. So EJ, you got to take Linda on like a date night to Great Adventure. We haven't I haven't been there. That was like our first like in eighth grade. I think we went to eighth grade. That was such a big deal to go to Great Adventure, but before it was Six Flags, right? But then and then from watching the Golden Bachelor, go see uh Casey in the Sunshine Band concert. Oh god, Casey doesn't look too good. He looks like he passed away like eight years ago and they just propped him up on the stage. All right, Sandra and Monroe. This is something that every New Jerseyian has to do. Any self-respecting New Jerseyian must do it. It's beautiful. It's romantic. It's centrally located. Tell us what it is, Sandra. Yes. It's the sculpture garden. Oh, this is absolutely phenomenal. Yes. You You know, I don't I don't remember how much it is to get in there, but it's quite reasonable. There's a walk around of of unbelievable, outrageous, huge things. And they have this wonderful restaurant called Rats, which you can go to the bar and and have orurves and appetizers or whatever. But I think that's the most amazing place. This is a great time of year to go there. If you've never been there, go. Andre there. Were you ever there for a date night? It's been a very long time. Yes, I've been there for a date night. For a date night because it was you you can kind of get frisky there over at the bar, you know. Does that is that what you did? I know. It's very wild. It's very wild. And I'm one of you wild girls, but it's just it's just an amazing place. And the code number is is it 42? I think I should win the 10. Yes, it is 420. 420. Okay. Then I think I should win the $10,000 because I'm like a major senior citizen. I could use it. Yeah. 420. Yep. All right, hang on. Put it in. There's a spot to enter it on our app. Yeah. I also think this would be good for major weed smokers. It should go without saying, but I think a major weed smoker could probably win what big Hitler fans. That was his birthday. Oh, I didn't know that. You didn't know that? I actually thought that's where it came from. Really? I don't know why. What else does 420 mean? It's a It's I know there's a route 420 somewhere. [Music] I don't know. I had no idea it was Hitler's birthday. See, now I wouldn't like I would not like that number if I knew that that that the we thing was associated with Hitler. Yeah. I don't know that it is associated with it, but it just happens to also be Hitler's birthday. So, I don't know where it came from. I think a little bit bit differently about that number now. I take it back. Somebody will tell it. You know what? But either way, it's a code. Hold on a minute. Let's ask Chad GBT. Why Why is 420 on 420? And that's our current code number. Y420. that number is associated with weed. And does it have anything to do with Hitler's birthday? Oh my god. I mean, she'll answer. She's good that way, you know. And uh yeah, that question comes up a lot. And it's one of those things where fact and folklore kind of blend together. Actually, the real number 420 started with a group of high school kids in San Rafale, California. Uh my own my old neighborhood back in 71. The story goes they used to meet after school at 4:20 p.m. to go search for an abandoned marijuana crop someone had told him about. They'd say 420 Lewis. Lewis was a statue on campus as a code to remind each other where uh when to meet. And eventually 420 just became their shorthand for smoking weed. Okay. Nothing to do with Hitler. Hold on. Oh, here we go. There's more. April 20th also happens to be Adolf Hitler's birthday, but that's pure coincidence. The number 420 did not come from that at all. The Waldos, who came up with the 420 number, have confirmed the story many times, and journalists have traced it back to their high school in San Rafll. How cool though, that like your high school little cute thing you did with your friends became a worldwide phenomenon, right? Even more so every year. It seems like it gets a a bigger acknowledgement. It's so cool. And it's just started with your hanging out with your buds, literally. All right, Ria is uh Oh, you've got a great romantic place, Mattisan Reservoir. Tell us what we do there and what goes on. Hello. Hello. Hi. Hi. I'm at Banana right now walking and you're missing the fall foliage. It's breathtaking. So now if you had a significant other or spouse or significant and you wanted a romantic moment, this would be a great place to do it, right? Yes. I've seen many people get engaged here. A great photo opportunity, I'm sure. Okay. Great photo opportunity. I even just had a snake walk uh slither by me. That's beautiful. That sounds so romantic. Well, it was more frightening than me. All right. Sounds like you're having a really nice day out there under the uh blue skies and sunshine and the res. We'll try to send a hot guy out there for you, Ria. Sounds like you need one. I have a hot one. Oh, okay. Well, congratulations. Good luck with that. Maybe send him my way then. Maybe I need one. Ria, thank you for calling. New Jersey 101.5. Oh. Oh my gosh. Angel in Roosevelt has a really cool idea. I've actually never done this as a romantic date, but I know people who have. I've never done this either. Yeah. So, if you're waiting for a really cool and different idea, don't get out of your car or Angel is going to clue you in. We're going to take a quick break for the news. Judy and EJ will be back after this. If you want to call in 1 8002831015 is our number. Great fall romantic dates. That's play at Resorts World C. See? Oh, a little Daryl Hall and John Oats. New Jersey 101.5. It's a Judy and EJ show with Kyle hanging out and we're talking about your fall dates. Uh maybe a weekend getaway. 1800283101.5. I've I've planned one out, Judy, during the commercial break. I've planned a date out and I will share it when you're ready for me to share it. I am very excited about it. I want to hear it. But first, let's go to Angel. I promised you that Angel and Roosevelt was going to give us a really good, unique idea for a romantic fall outing in New Jersey. So, talk to me, Angel. What do we do? Hi, Judy. Um, I was at an event yesterday at a place called Knob Hill on Route 33 in Manalapin. It's a development and they had a financial meeting about, you know, what to do with your retirement. But what I noticed is that they're having a murder mystery event. And I thought that would be something fun to do on a date. Oh, you know what? I It is fun. I don't know that I would consider it romantic. What do you guys think? Because somebody said here that it's only women calling in cuz no dude is just like, "Yeah, this is so romantic." But I think that men can be very romantic depending on the guy. Sure. It seems like a lot of work trying to figure something out. I know when I'm away, I just want to sort of like hang out and walk or hike or eat or drink, you know? Me, too. But um I know people love the murder mysteries. I I think I'd prefer that over a uh when they lock people in that room and you have to figure out how to get out. I don't think I'd like that too much. Oh my god. Do you ever do that? I don't want to do it. I've done I've done one. I was horrible at it. Yeah. I would rather like get a colonoscopy. like call me you on Thursday. What's that? I think she's talking to someone else. Oh, she left. I guess she didn't like the fact that we didn't like her murder mystery idea. I think we she left offended. Seriously, if you called me, if Mark called me, cuz he would be like planning a romantic date and he's like, "Honey, I have such a great thing for escape. I love you so much. Let's go get Let's go to an escape house." I'd be like, "Can we do a colonoscopy?" Like if he said, "I'm going to take you for a romantic colonoscopy." I'd be psyched compared to the state. Well, because at least with the colonoscopy, they gave you drugs and Yeah. Exactly. And then you're in that Twilight Zone when you're coming out of it. So that that's much better than being locked in a room with strangers trying to figure out how the hell to get out. Oh, it's with strangers. Don't you do it as a team or do you go as a group or sometimes? Yeah, I mean, if you go as a group, you can do it that way. Sometimes you're in there with strangers. I guess you could if you went as one or two people. Who would want to do that? I never even realized that. I thought, but I guess yeah, you're right. Like, if you go with your friends, you do it with your friends. You don't have to be with strangers. Correct. Do it with a group. All I could tell you is we had a boss once who we could, nobody could stand him, but he wanted to do a team building exercise. And I'll never forget thinking a like I like everybody I work with, but like I don't need to like go hang out with them and play a game to get to know them. You see him 40 hours Monday through Friday. You actually see your co-workers more than you see your significant other. Yeah. So why did we go need to need to go and play laser tag? It was just like the most annoying thing. We did that here. We did laser tag somewhere, didn't we? Talking about you. Oh, no. No. I I You're talking about my boss. You had to do it with us with our that boss that we both hated. Yeah. Yeah. He sp he spread incorrect rumors about me. He did. He said I hated digital. I love digital. Oh my god. Here we go again. Right. Yeah. And he said that I'm a black widow. Yeah. Right. You know, but um but anyway, they they made us do this thing and I always thought that's not a romantic thing, but plenty of people take dates to go do like laser tag or that room escape thing. And I'm like, why would you go with somebody on a date like that? It's like work. Maybe it's like to get to know somebody in the beginning, somebody you don't know well. So, it's an activity you have that I get, but I don't call those things romantic at all. Did you say somebody hit a text with you and that we had an assignment, right? Yeah. So, that's So, this is what I wanted to ask you guys. Somebody wrote um and I think I just read this, but all the women are calling in cuz no dude is just like, "Yeah, this is so romantic." Now, my argument was I know plenty of guys who could be romantic, especially when you're first dating somebody. Dude, they all pretend like they're romantic. You don't realize well because you know we have the reward on our mind so we put our best foot forward and we we plan it all out hoping that it leads to the thing 100%. I would say though that like it's a it's a personality thing like I think Mark is pretty romantic. He may be more romantic than I am. Yeah, I'm romantic now. I mean so what is your romantic? We heard yours EJ was Kate May which I think is a very romantic city by and I've done that before but during the break during that commercial break that was just on I planned out a date. I will share it but I want to hear Kyle's first. Did you plan Did you plan one out? Just off the top of my head. I mean Jim Thorp I think is a really pretty area going for a bike ride up there. Especially now with the fall foliage. Uh Leehigh Gorge is gorgeous. Yeah. And there's good restaurants there. It's a cute little downtown. a cute little area that I think uh I mean the truth be told I mean Ally and I just both work on the weekends a lot so to drive two and a half hours up to Jim Thorp and stay overnight like she works Saturday so do I. It's hard to Jim Thorp is great. It's like a little Switzerland. The mountains surround the town in the winter time. The snow's up there. Wayne Wayne Kat owns a house there. Okay. Wait, where do you stay though? There's no there are like little ins. Yeah, I'm sure there's little ins and stuff there. Yeah, I I don't know for a fact, but I would have find it hard to believe that there wouldn't be. I I don't know much in the way of chains being there, but there are ins and Airbnbs. We've stayed at an Airbnb in Chim before. Yeah, there's definitely not like any big hotels or anything, but I feel like that Kyle just proved that a guy could be romantic. EJ, what's yours? So, here's mine. I've never been to High Point State Park before. You know, there my bucket list. I posted it at actually nj1015.com, which is a great suggestion for others thinking of ideas of things to do here in the great garden state. So, yeah, Kate May, been there, been to the Jersey Shore, but I've never been to High Point. So, I thought a day at High Point. My wife and I both like hiking, which yeah, it's probably work, but this time of year, hiking's got to be gorgeous. And I even just looked up a hotel. There's the the Hampton Inn in Madam Morris, which is right on the Delaware River up there in New York, right on the other side, in Texas. Metamorris is in is in New York. The Hampton Inn, 219 a night this weekend. And then there's the place called the Scottish Inn in Milford, which is also across the Delaware, but right there by High Point, New Jersey. 165 a night. So, I've taken it a step further, Judy, and quoted you prices. I love it. Thank you so much. And by the way, uh, Linda is saying, "I think you're confused. Murder mystery or dinner where you watch a show, not an escape room." Yeah, we know that. We I We were calling them two separate. We were thinking of things we didn't want to do. All due respect to the previous caller who left the fend. Yeah. So, the murder mystery with the dinner, not romantic. Also, escape room, not romantic. All right. 1 80028310115 is our phone number. Uh we want good romantic fall dates in New Jersey. I'm actually taking a poll. I want to do a little post about it. So, please contribute. Your phone calls coming up next. Weather and traffic on the way. Stay with Judy and EJ. We'll be back and fall is the time to make sure your home it's the New Jersey. 1800 283101.5 talking about your awesome fall dates. Want to hear your ideas at 1 800283101.5. Judy, would it be God bless you? Would it be safe to call John Bramnik a politician? Of course he's just ran for governor. He's just a good dude though, right? I mean, he's Oh, I love John. He's probably our favorite politician. One other than Bill Spedia. He's one of our favorite politicians, but he's got a This is a date idea. I'm not going off topic here. John Bramnik, the funniest lawyer in New Jersey with Eric Pots, special guest, Steve Trevalis, and Dr. Danny Broad on Friday. There's also going to be a show on Saturday at Catch a Rising Star in Princeton. So that there's a show on Saturday. Well, the 17th is the show with Trev and then the 18th is a show with John, Eric, and and Danny. Oh, that's so funny cuz Senator Ramnik sent me an invitation to a show. The 17th is Friday, right? Yeah, that's right. And the 18th is Saturday. Got it. Okay. Sorry, Judy. No, I just I thought for sure that I wasn't going to be able to go, but I think I can go. Yeah, this ad says uh it's sat it's two days. See the ad? Ah, okay. So, maybe I will go. That's awesome. Plus, it has New Jersey 101.5's own Steve Trevol. Oh, no, that's only Friday. Friday. Just Friday. Wow. Maybe if if if How about if Trev can't show up on Saturday, they should call Dennis? Dennis should host Trev should host that show Friday. Dennis or Judy on Saturday. You should host it Saturday. Give Trev a call. No, I He was here yesterday. He finally stopped. And I love him to death, but like you know, Dennis and I used to do it and he finally stopped asking me to do it because I just can't. I My stage fright is too bad. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Trev would book you for um comedy events. He would book me for DJ events. Trev is the booker. Trev is He's amazing. Yeah. All right, let's go. Let me tell you, I got a great idea. I got You've been radio a long time. You could be a consultant. All right, Bob is in Bolair's Town. He's got a great idea and it is romantic. Talk to me, Bob. Yes. How are you? Good. Right across the street from the Hampton Inn, there's the Best Western Hotel. They've got an unbelievable seafood dinner, seafood buffet actually. And uh they'll have all the bells and whistles there for you. You're talking about Madam Morris? Yeah, right. Madam Morris. Oh, cool. I I'll have to check it out. Thank you. Right across the street from where you're going. That's I just heard you say. Yeah. Yeah. That's our Been there several times. It's It's unbelievable. That's a cool area, you know, between Madam Morris, Milford, and uh and High Point. Just such a And it's where Pennsylvania, New York, and Jersey all come together up there, especially right now, right, with the peak leaves. Oh, yeah. Well, another week will be peaked, but right now into another week, yes, absolutely, 100%. Yeah. I tell you, I don't know what it is about the colors that are romantic. Somebody has to explain it to me, but it is. It is. Yeah. And it's like, it's like an aphrodesiac. Bob, thank you so much for calling New Jersey. You probably associate it with your wedding and your anniversary. Maybe that's why it's an Even Kyle said it's romantic. Yeah, I don't know what it is. We we see the color orange and we're like, "Oh, do you see that?" A Why don't we Why don't we look at dead trees like that? Nobody fixes the Garden State Park. The winter we see brown, we're like, "Uh, yeah, you're right. I mean, the the beautiful leaves are a sign of death, aren't they?" I mean, I guess technically see it and we're like, "Oh, the parkway north, the northern part of the parkway this time of year. Gorgeous with all the leaves." Yeah, absolutely. Like sometimes you just want to pull over in the car and start making out with your spouse. Right on the shoulder of the park. You were going to say the leaves. Okay. Don in Medford. A this is a good one. Go sailing. It's freezing though now, isn't it? Well, I wouldn't pick today to go sailing. Yeah, it's a little cold, but you know, on a nice fall day, maybe take a ride through the Pine Barons and see, well, not the Pine Barons, but on the outskirts right on 206 between Hamington and Medford, it's a it's it's one of the scenic drives in New Jersey. And in the fall, it's beautiful. You don't get the mountains, but it's a beautiful display of colors. So, then you then you head down to the shore, right? Yeah. And either I I sail, but it would be really great if my wife or uh if I was single, some beautiful woman would another beautiful woman, in case my wife's listening, okay? Right. That they rent a boat and we go sailing all day and then we go out to a fine seafood restaurant, maybe Cape May or Sebrite, Seagar. Let me tell you, this guy is quite the romantic. Don, thank you so much for calling. You put us all in the mood. quite romantic until he started mentioning other women. It's like my wife, we could go sailing or another hot blonde if I could find one of those. We have two women on that sailboat. I also was wondering how that fit in. It just got slipped in. My wife, we always go sailing, but man, the blonde from the other boat. I wish she was on mine. Very funny. [Music] So damn. Oh my god, Kyle, remember when I said you should use some of that humor on the show? You decided to do it. You just did it. That was very, very good. Yeah. All right, we have more coming up. Fun and frivolity and more laughter on Judy and EJ. Stay with us. My name's Judy Franco. But you know, time is 109. It's Judy and EJ. Love this show. I'm Judy Franco. There's EJ. That's what we call them because there are way too many freaking Erics around this place. We're We're having some fun. Having some fun with Kyle Forscini at the buttons and dials and knobs which he so smoothly executes and the occasional funny line. And the occasional funny line. He would be funny all the time if he freaking wanted to be on. It's not like he's got a damn microphone in front of him. You know what it is? When you're on, he's on. When I'm here, he's like, "Gh, that lady." You know, telling you. He's like, "Oh, that lady." He hates me. It's terrible. Pretty accurate. Oh, I know, man. Every time I'm on, he's just thinking of the other hot blonde lady in the other room. In the other boat. Whenever she's here, I don't get to talk as much. That's right. I'm sorry. What's the problem? What? Not I'm not talking about me. I'm talking about him, Kyle. What's going through Kyle's mind? I'm fine. Yeah, but that's ridiculous. You guys, you could be It should be 30 30 33 33 33. That's not what our boss says. So, if he's listening, I'm kidding, Sam. But between the three of us, it should be 33 33 33. It's more like uh 4949 0.0000. That's bad math on my part. Not like that. No, that was bad math on my part. So damn untrue. Just three friends hanging out, having a good time. Exactly. And so we need to talk about this cuz it's one of those topics that it comes up every once in a while and then we forget about it. But I'm not going to let this die. Okay. American Dream Mall was voted the best mall in New Jersey. It's no it's I mean there is no comparison and it's unfortunate because in the olden days you could really have a contest what was the best mall in New Jersey, right? There were great malls. Now there's like eight malls. Well, there's another bucket light list for I haven't been there yet. I haven't either. Don't they have like a snow thing there? Nickelodeon's got a thing there. By the way, my kids have been to American Dream a thousand times because when you have young kids, it's like a a day trip. It's a destination. Yeah. I know people from South Jersey that go up there for that destination trip. They make a day out of it and they stay up there at a hotel. Oh, it's amazing. It's so I mean, again, I I'm not speaking from personal experience, but every time I send my kids up there, they're like, "Oh my god, this is amazing. Next time you're coming with us." But that's more than like it's not even fair to call that. It's like an amusement park in a way, right? It really is. And you remember how long it was there before it was finished? It was just It was sitting there vacant all those years. 50 bucks for every name. If you could name every name it had. Oh wow. I can't remember that now. It was called like um Xanadoo. Xanadoo. That's the one. Yeah. But then there was one after Xanadu or before Xanadoo. Do you remember? I know. But Xanadu would have been the worst name in the world. I don't know why. Who came up with that? Horrible. But hold on. We're gonna ask this lady. We have that song. Do you know what the other names of American dream were? There was Xanadu and then there was something else. Um, the Are you talking about the Olivia Newton John song? Oh my god. Hello. There it is. It's It's Olivia Newton John and ELO from the movie Xanadoo in 1980. Xanadoo for quite a long time and I think a lot of Jersey folks still remember that name. There was also this brief period where they were calling it Meadowan Sanadoo just to tie it into the area. And yeah, you're totally not talking about Olivia Newton John, but it's a funny mixup. No, it was something else besides metal energy. She was polite and that was sort of a passive aggressive response. Judy, I know. Didn't you think so? Yeah. Chad GPT. That's Chad GPT, right? Yeah. Developing a bit of a [ __ ] attitude there. I agree with you. And you know what? I think I'm starting to give her that power because when we first start talking, she was like, "Oh, don't anytime you need any help at all, don't forget, just reach out to me." Now she's passive aggressive. She is okay. But she did confirm your uh your Xanadu um guess. No, no, she didn't. She was very snippy. She didn't give me the correct answer because it was something else besides Zanadoo. She goes, "For a brief time, it was actually called Zanadoo Meadowlands." Okay, here's the answer. Okay, it was called Meadowlands Mills. That was the first I don't remember that at all. The initial proposal, it's funny because it ended right when I started working here and I'm looking at the the years and yeah, um the initial proposal for a mall on this site was called Melands Mills, but the project was canceled due to environmental concerns. Then it was Meand Zatanadoo. Then it was American Dream Meadowlands and then just American Dream. But why I say it's not fair to compare that to any other mall is obviously as as EJ mentioned, it's more than a mall. It's 15 different amusement parks in there. But I say, does anybody even go to the mall anymore? And I realized I would love to go to the mall. I would still go to the mall. And I know that my mall, which is now the Freehold Raceway Mall, is still vibrant, right? But it's so far from me. I had the Mammoth Mall for many years. It was 5 minutes up the road. I loved it. Now we don't have that cuz they're turning it into this other things. Kushner and that group bought it and it's going to be like one of those, you know, like Pure Villages with like Oh, like an open air type thing where it's not a mall anymore, right? It's like it's like it's like a fancy strip shopping center. Yeah, kind of like that. And then there's also uh residential and like parks. Yeah, they have apartments living there. Would Would you want to live next to like an Acme or No, but you know what? People are living on the Why would you want to have an apartment in a parking lot? What's the appeal of that? I tell you what. I tell you what though. I've seen some of them in like upscale malls. Like they did one near us in Ocean Township and like those condos, they're not just apartments, right? Are magnificent. So you might like forget about the It's separated by trees, right? Yeah. So you might forget that you're like in a mall parking lot. But here's the thing. We also had the um shoot View Square Mall. It was the second mall. You could like smoke crack in that mall. It was so disgusting. I remember that mall. But it was on 66, right? Yes. And that's where the point was for a long time, our sister radio station. Um, but the point I'm trying to make is they've made there are so few malls that like people can't get there even if they wanted to. I can't. I would love the mall. I just can't get to it. Right. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. So if you live near a mall, do you still go to one? And is there one near you that's still thriving and vibrant? 1 8002831015. I know in South Jersey the Cherry Hill Mall is still vibrant. It still has a lot of car uh cars in the parking lot right here that I used to Quaker Bridge. Quaker Bridge is still vibrant. Yeah, I still see cars there. There's still stores in there. Um the Hamilton Mall down by me in Maze Landing, that's like a dead mall. The Burlington Center Burlington Center had better had better days. I'm closest to Cherry Hill, Judy. Cherry Hill is still huge. Freehold still good. I haven't been to Quaker Bridge in a very long time, but the last time that I had been there, it was kind of sad. So, Oh, yeah. I think that one's more on the way out than it is on the way up. It seems like the deadest malls in New Jersey include Burlington Center Mall being renovated, so may come back. Echelon Mall demolished, Livingston Mall, nearly vacant, and Morstown Mall experiencing decline. And the Hamilton Mall in Maze Landing, big- time decline there as well. Okay, so here's the question. Do you ever go to the mall anymore? or when was the last time you were at the mall and why? I did have to go to the mall. See, I have to go to the mall for an Apple store, right? Freehold Raceway has an Apple store. So, if you have an iPhone, sometimes you just have to go to Apple store is a big draw. It is. And also, they have um what's the store that they only have there and not near me? Is Zara. I don't have a Zara near. So, you got to go to I don't think Zara's in any place that's not a mall, right? Oh, I actually saw them in Greece and it was just out on the street. But in in the US, I think it may be maybe only Mos. So it was actually a Spanish company. So when you go to Zara in Spain, it's amazing cuz everything is onetenth of the price. I bought a bag in Zara in Spain for $23 that was $99 here. And I'm like, it's amazing because of course they don't have to pay the imports. Plus leather is so much cheaper in Europe. But I don't have that store. I got to go to either Menllo, which is like 40 minutes from me, or Freehold, which is When was the last time you were Freehold though, Kyle? Is it still bustling? Yeah, not long ago. I mean, I I that's where I got my linen outfits from is Oh, the linen outfits. But Freehold has like new stores that are either already opened or opening at some point in 2025. So, that one still is doing well as far as I know. Is doing well. Yeah. It's just funny to me that how there's some walls are just so dead and then the others that rem remain are just so vibrant. I mean, there's no middle ground anymore. It's funny to me that we let Kyle get away with the linen outfits and didn't even call him gay and sometimes we do that. Um, and he's not gay. Not that there's anything wrong with Not that we know of. Although the the like two gay guys that work here both think you're gay, so I don't understand how I don't know. Maybe I do have a rainbow phone case. But nobody thinks you're gay, EJ. Even though you like to talk about male parts all the time. 1 800283. I backed off on that. Come on. I backed off on that. I backed off on the penises. Stop. All right. Your phone calls coming up. Joe and Patricia want to tell us about the malls. Can't wait to hear from you. 119. Here's New Jersey. Looking for our fright with your shine. Talking about malls. 1800 283101.5. Yes, there are malls on the decline here in New Jersey, but there are some that are just doing great. Like Judy, one of my favorites is the Quarter at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. I love that. I love My favorite restaurant, Carmines, is there. They've got some great high-end shops, and you you really do feel like you're in another world when you're there. It really is. It's like being on vacation, but yet, you know, the shopping is just so much fun. I buy things there that I would never buy I if that store were just in the mall. Do you know what I'm saying? It's just such a fun shopping experience. Yeah. You just want to go there. Um I feel the same way. That's so funny, EJ. Uh so does anybody still go to the mall? If so, where do you have to travel far to go to one or do you only go if it's like really close to your home? Patricia's in East Brunswick and she still goes to Quaker Bridge. Why Patricia? What do you do there? Hi. Um, actually the mall is in Lawrenville and um just go for like a 15inute massage therapy chair massage. So they have those set up in the most of the malls have it. Oh my god, that's hysterical. So like you really don't even go there to shop. That's right. So, I think that that that's pretty much what they found about malls is that people stopped going as much to shop because they were shopping more online. So, they needed to have it be a destination, an entertainment destination. So, um you know those they put those massage chairs, they put those stupid stuffed little motorized animal things for kids to ride around on. And then the Freehold's got a carousel. I think they may have had that from the beginning, but it's like almost like it's sad when you see those things coming in, those massage chairs and stuff like that. But well, these are real massage these are real massage therapists. They do have some wolves have the chair massages that are um you know without people doing them. But um yeah, I don't go to I don't use those. So the there's a male and a female massage therapist that um it used to be a dollar a minute. Now it's like more like a $1.75 a minute, but you know, it's um they're always there, so you don't have to make an appointment. It's a walk-in type thing. And you guys, we have to talk about massages when did you guys ever get massages, either one of you? I years ago. It's been a long time. It seems an expense I don't need right now. I know. Me, too. But you know what? Mark got one the other day. Yeah. And he goes like, "Why don't I do this once a week?" It's like life changing. Does he care if a man or a woman does it? He doesn't care. Okay. Yeah, he has a woman who does it. Uh, thank you, Patricia, for calling New Jersey 101 1.5. I can't have a man do it. I'm not comfortable. But Mark doesn't care. But, um, I mean, I guess if there was like some really hot, gorgeous girl doing it, it might be different, but yeah, I I've I've only had women massuses. I feel like I'd be too ticklish. There are places where it's ticklish, but I just go like, can you not do that place? But, um, it is. I mean really when you do it you always make a commitment like I'm going to do this on a regular basis and then you never do it. We spent a weekend at the White Sands in Point Pleasant Beach one year and they had a masseuse there. My wife and I got his and hers massages. It was great. What that was a great weekend at White. You talk about date weekends. That was great. I loved staying there. You know what the best thing too when you go on vacation, get a massage at like go for dinner early, get a massage after and then go right to sleep. You'll never have a better sleep in your entire life. It's insane. As a matter of fact, you know what? I really want to do that. Time for a massage. I slept two hours last night. All right. Linda in Punksatonyi. Oh, she never goes to the mall probably. Right, Linda? We go to the mall like once a month because it's an hour and a half away. Oh god. Did you ever have one closer to you? Um, not since we've been in Punksatonyi. Like you can go to the Dub Boy Mall, but that's like going to C view Mall in the end days. Oh, if you want to go to like if you want to go to a big mall that's like Woodbridge or Jersey Gardens, you have to do like an hour and a half and go to Greensburg. I love that. And they have a really nice mall with a ton of shopping around it. But Linda is one of the few people that I can talk to um who understands what the end days of C view mall was. And the reason that I said before you could smoke crack there is that some um you it was one of the last malls you could smoke cigarettes in. So we used to go there shop smoke you know while walking down and while looking at the you know the uh the the windows or whatever sit down for lunch smoke and somebody said you can smoke in the in the C view square mall and somebody goes you can smoke crack in that mall. It was such a dump it was just Disgusting. You used to be able to smoke anything anywhere. Actually, you know, more people were smoking weed everywhere now than they were then. But yeah, in those days you could smoke crack at the CV square, but really in CV Square Mall, it was like Linda, would that have even made a dent in how gross that place was? No. I mean, I remember I met uh my husband and we went on our first date was at that mall, but that was like back in 1984, you know? But then like that was when it was like a nice mall and people actually went shopping there and stuff. But then like the end days it was just, you know, there wasn't anything in there. And so yeah, we we drive cuz I like to try on clothes. I hate to buy clothes online. You don't know if they're going to fit and then you got to send them back. And the clothes are still the thing. And then my grandson loves those uh strollers that are the actual race cars that make the noises and all that stuff. So yeah, you got to get them off. Worth it for that. just for that for your grandkids. Linda, thanks for calling you. One question real quick, Judy. What's on that site now at where CB was it? It's a different kind of one of those outdoor malls. They repurpose the space. Correct. Target strip malls, blah blah blah. All right, Jessica has a lot to say about one mall that is really, really underrated. Can't wait to hear about that coming up on Judy and EJ. Stay with us. New Jersey means Chris football 1-800 283101.5 talking about malls. Malls used to be one of those things when you would talk about New Jersey, right? It would be pizza, pork roll, the shore and malls. And then back in the day, not that long ago, maybe 10, 20 years ago, all these kids would overrun the malls on Friday nights. You remember that, Judy? And that was a problem. Oh, yeah. Not a problem anymore. That's what they used to do. They used to live at that mall. Um, but I am very very surprised if you guys go to the mall. There must be one near you cuz it's hard to justify drive. And I know this cuz I'm a good half hour from the mall now. It's hard to justify driving a half an hour to go to a mall store. Um, Jessica's in Tom's River. She's going to tell us that there is an underrated mall out there. Jess, tell everybody what it is. Um, Ocean County Mall. So, I grew up with Oh, shoot. I hate when that happens. No, no, no, no, no. This woman Let's hang with her. Let's hang. Jessica, you still there? Yes. Can you hear me? Yeah. You dropped out for a second. We hear you great now. Okay. Um, I just called in to talk about Ocean City Mall. So, I feel like the last five years or so, there's so many new things in there. There's a Honey restaurant. There's a wonderful Japanese restaurant in there. Now they just opened like a anime store. Um there's new stuff in there all the time and it's always busy. So we keep hearing about how malls are declining in New Jersey, but Ocean County Mall is popping. There's a Planet Fitness or something others. Like it's it's a busy good mall. Has everything you need. Um my husband has something at work and shoot runs the mall. the guy there. He measured him, sitting him, you know. I'm sorry. You're breaking up a little, Jessica. And it's hard for us to hear. She may be in the mall right now. Are you in the mall? Because are you parking lot? Oh, Shop. Which shop right are you at? Palm River. Oh, okay. Cool. Yeah. You know what? It makes sense though that the Ocean County Mall would have to be popping because look at those Speaking of hot zips, EJ, look at those zip codes. They are packed with people. They are so I mean Tom River is one of the most uh populous areas in Ocean County. It's huge and all of the surrounding towns are just it's bustling and it became even during the pandemic believe it or not brick was one of those upand cominging towns where you could still afford a house. I think brick had a huge increase in population. Do you notice that Jessica? I I do. I'm actually a realtor in the area. So that is 100% true. Yeah, it's it's crazy. I got to You know what? I got to get my butt to the Ocean County Mall. How far is it from Lakewood? 20 minutes. About 20 minutes. Yeah. So, actually, I'm in Lakewood a lot, but so is the um Freehold Mall closer to Lakewood than where I live. Yeah, Freehold Mall is always crazy. Ocean County Mall is busy, but not crazy. Yeah, Freehold Mall gets crazy. She's right. But that almost makes me feel good. Especially I try to go to the Freehold Mall. I always make it my business to go around Christmas time because it reminds me of the holiday season being the way it used to be where everybody was like flooding the mall and it's such a good feeling. Yeah. The music's playing, Santa's in there and that that whole holiday vibe that you see in the mall. Yeah. Jessica, thank you so much for calling today. How's business by the way? It's slow right now, but it'll pick up. It's seasonal. Everybody's house everyone's pool is closed. the grass is brown, no one's moving. That's so damn true. What's the um what's your hot zip right now? Like where are you what do you find has the most action in real estate? Probably the like the adult communities. So I'm in Tom's River. So um you know, Holiday City, Holiday City West, Holiday City Berkeley, all of those are always always busy. The that is not seasonal there, but everywhere else is, you know, period. People drop dead all seasons of the year. That's why. Yep. Jessica, I love you. Thanks so much for calling New Jersey. What a 1.5. Recession proof. Have you ever been to the mall at Short Hills? Oh, yeah. I've been there. That's got a good review here. It says upscale mall with great people watching. Lots of places to grab a bite to eat, some wonderful desserts, a popie of upscale stores. You can't buy anything there Beverly Hills style. It's like King of Prussia but like plus times 10. Okay. you know, and I haven't been to King of Persia, but people I know in that area have that have been to both malls say like Short Hills is worse. And when I say worse, I mean in terms of pricing, yeah, more unaffordable stores. Um, but I think King of Prussia is bigger. So that's why they can also have two malls back to back, the court, the plaza, and all these things that surround like the IMAX theater. That whole area is crazy. So what in King of Prussia is like their anchor store. Do you know? I don't know. Somebody will tell me. Yeah. Anyway, um 1 8002831015 is our phone number. Somebody wrote in on our app chat, "I used to be a mall rat at C View Square uh back in the day. Also dated a girl for professional hair designers." That's what every mall has to have, professional hair designers. But what was scary about C View when they were closing, and this is really an old reference, but I don't care. I have to say it because it was such a short-lived fad. They had EJ a Pog store. Do you remember? I remember the Pogs. They were those like little cardboard things the kids had, right? They were like that was around the a time of Pokemon cards and beanie possibly, right? I do not. It was like a cardboard disc, right? It was like Yeah, it was like a Pokemon card, but they made it. It's was like a round cardboard disc that people traded. It was insane. It was like opening a store just to trade Monopoly money. Like that's how stupid it was. And people and they opened one in this store. That's when we in the mall. That's when we knew. I think that was after the Pokemon cards because the Pokemon cards that was a big deal too. Some of the cards were more expensive than the others. And Oh, yeah. Those are still a thing, too. Are they? Oh, yeah. Oh, we bought my son a Charizard. People thought we were crazy. It was $50 and they were like, "$50. Are you crazy?" But it was Charizard, whatever that And then there was a Pokemon thing with a a phone app and Pokemon Go. They would go like on your property looking for a Pokemon. That was just a couple years ago. Ran into some issues with that. Yeah. Not me, but I know that they had an issue with that. That was 2020 though. That was co Somebody would just be on your front lawn looking for a Pokemon. What? I love that though. It was so cute. It wasn't like it was Charles Manson looking for it. It was just like and you're not finding a physical thing. You're just clicking that you're on that location on the scavenger hunt. Exactly. Yeah. It was so much fun. All right, the malls. Are you still going to the mall? Which malls are still worth it? 1 8002831015 on Judine EJ. Back with weather, traffic, and your phone call after this you guys about town appliance. New Jersey 101. So, growing up in Maze Landing, oh, Bry's playing blah blah blah blah blah. We didn't have the Hamilton Mall. We have the Shore Mall and I love going to uh Arman Sound Odyssey to buy 45s just like this one from Looking Glass. Uh yeah, Shalo Arman Sound Odyssey. You met them and then there Oh, you met uh wait you met uh looking glass. Their wives couple of the guys that the wives are still friends cuz you know they were Jersey guys. They went to Rutgers and they rehearsed in a barn in Glenn Gardner. Okay. So, their wives are friends. So, they came by our remote in Atlantic City. They have a house in uh some nice beach house cuz I guess they made a few bucks on the song. Sure. And they're like, "We listen to you guys all the time." And they gave us autographs from each of the guys. That's pretty cool. Yeah. And boy, for years we played that song. I mean, I know it's been out since like 72, but it was like a staple. You put on 1015 on the weekend, you know, you're going to hear Brandy. Oh my god. 100%. Because it's such a Jersey song, you know? That's what we did. We play the Jersey songs. always play Springsteen Bonjovy and looking glass Brandy and and Deborah Harry. She's she's calling the ganganger Jersey. Now, what I find interesting about the Deborah Harry thing and also same thing for Cindy Looper, they always call them Jersey people, but they don't appear to be and like where do they live? Who said they're Jersey people? Well, Blondie started off in in Manhattan, New York City, but she's living her life uh in Mammoth County somewhere. She's from Hawthorne originally. I think she was born in Hawthorne and then grew the blondie career in New York mostly as their base, but she lives in Mammoth County now somewhere. Maybe somebody said that she lives in Red Bank, but I don't know why. I just I feel like I would know that. It's like the next town from me kind of. You know what I mean? I don't know. You should go looking for me wrong. Um somebody said I saw a story that somebody ran into her like a shop right over there that she just happened to be shopping and she was around. That's so funny. Yeah. And would you even like recognize her now? You know what I mean? Yeah. You see people out of context. You don't recognize them. And and and we've all gotten a little older. Well, let me read you some uh app chat comments before we have to close. Mike the me man writes in. You ready for this? I have no idea what he's talking about. I still have all my pog slammers. What the hell is a pog slammer? I don't know if I remember that. He's going to tell you what they were. These were the thicker plastic discs, sometimes made of metal pogs. You would stack your pogs into a tower, and the person you were playing with would stack theirs into a tower, and you would use the slammers to try to knock down the towers of pogs. Any pogs that you knocked off of the towers, you get to keep, and vice versa. Late 90s, early millennium, good times, good times. I had no idea that was a thing. I thought they were just collectibles. Also, King of Prussia's anchor I I asked what the anchor store of King of Prussia is and they said Cheesecake Factory and I'm like that can't be the anchor. After you eat there, you feel like an anchor. Yeah, I would believe. And the other thing, unfortunately for us, we didn't keep our $50 Charizard card. Yeah. But somebody wrote in, Judy, that original Charizard card is worth about 250,000 today. I will never forget. We bought it for $50 and people thought we were crazy cuz every other Pokemon card came in a package of I don't know they were a dollar for like 20 of them and this was like 50 bucks and people were like are you kidding me? You know what I you know my son's Kyle I think I've shown you my son's collection basement. Yeah. It's worth a couple bucks. I bet it is. Yeah. I wonder if he actually has that card. I have to ask him. I So, I liked Pokemon growing up and I still like it now. I never got the cards though. Like, I know that the Charizard card is worth a ton of money, but at the end of the day, it's a card. Who's going to pay $250,000 to stare at this card? It's not going to do anything for you. It doesn't do tricks. It's a piece of paper. Oh, it doesn't do tricks. Contrary to popular belief, no, it does not. I guess they only they only published, you know, so many of a certain card and that's what makes it more valuable. I don't know. I don't know. But for all your Pog trivia, this is the place to get it. The Judy and EJ program. Thanks so much for being here. You guys are awesome. I love you both of you. So good to be back. And guess what listeners? You're very lucky. You got Deinsky and more to take you through the afternoon. They good people. We'll see you tomorrow right here on New Jersey 101.5. New Jersey 1.5.
