As the gubernatorial election approaches in New Jersey, discussions are heating up around key issues like property taxes and energy costs. The Judy and EJ Show delves into the contrasting platforms of the two main candidates: Republican Jack Ciattarelli and Democrat Mikie Sherrill. With a mere 11% of voters still undecided about their choice, voter sentiment is a crucial topic.

Ciattarelli is making bold promises to tackle New Jersey's high property taxes, a recurring concern for many residents. In contrast, Sherrill emphasizes her commitment to renewable energy initiatives, aiming to address rising energy costs. Both candidates are facing a politically polarized landscape, drawing passionate responses from voters on either side.

Many callers to the show voiced their support for Ciattarelli, particularly highlighting concerns about school taxes and the power of teachers' unions. Others expressed a general disillusionment with the political process, reflecting a widespread frustration with the current state of governance in New Jersey.

The discussions have not only been informative but have also infused the air with humor and relatable anecdotes. This blend of serious topics and light-hearted interaction is what keeps listeners engaged—a hallmark of the show that aims to connect with everyday New Jerseyans.

As the election nears, the need for voters to educate themselves on candidates’ positions has never been more vital. Whether it's addressing the cost of living or making sense of political narratives, it's essential for citizens to make informed choices at the polls.

This election promises to be consequential, and with candidates raising eyebrows and delving into each other's pasts, it's easy to see why New Jersey residents are paying close attention. With the stakes high and opinions varied, one thing is clear: the outcome of this election will have lasting effects on the state's future.

New Jersey time 10:09. It's the Judy and EJ show. I'm Judy Franco. Thrilled to be here with my buddy, my partner EJ aka Eric Johnson. Good morning. Good buddy. Morning. Good morning everybody. Bonjouro everybody I should say. Bonjouro everybody. And the same to Kyle Forsini who without whom this show would not be possible. I'm so happy to have you here. Um, you know, you and I, um, always say when it snows, talk about the snow. When it rains, talk about the rain. Right. So, we need to discuss some aspects of this storm if it actually turned out to be what it was supposed to be. And I really do want to get through this with some people because I mean, I just got to tell you, for me, it was it was a panic. It was no a panic for no reason. Before we get to that, EJ, I just want to say because I posted this in my Instagram stories today and some people slid into my DMs saying, "Oh, I'm so glad that you're talking about this cuz I know you don't talk about it a lot on the air. I don't talk about Israel a lot on the air because well, it's a long story. I in the beginning Well, I think you should. I mean, you know, you have a direct connection. You have a lot of passion about it. It's it's something other people in our listening area care about. I mean Yeah. And it's such a big deal. I think you know that that this should be acknowledged and spoken about at least for a second before we talk about Jersey. Right. Right. So I just wanted to you know for those of you who have been living under Iraq you may not realize that the remaining 20 living hostages um were returned to Israel the early this morning. I was up pretty much most of the night of fighting sleep because they knew it was happening and I wanted to be able to watch it happen. and uh some some nice coverage of it. And then I watched the speech that Donald Trump made in the Knesset um lauding BB Netanyahu for his role in it and BB lauding Donald Trump for his role in it. And it was just so beautiful to watch those people reunite with their families. And you know what happened EJ to some of them cuz some of them I'm I know people who know them. Okay. the the families. I don't know them personally, but the what happens is when somebody's away, you get very invested in the fight and let and you kind of forget even what it's like to have them in close proximity, right? You could see some of those mothers when they were reuniting reuniting with their sons screaming because not realizing even the face like not even realizing what the reunion was going to be like and not they had to push out of their minds for 2 years that they weren't right there in their close proximity to touch and hug. So once they saw them they're screaming. It's almost like scary. Yeah. And I just was crying all morning. So I'm sure you were. But also, Judy, I I saw something on your um Instagram this morning. I I didn't know this. We never talked about it. I can't see your earrings through your hair. Um Oh, was it an earring? It was a necklace. Was it a necklace? Oh, I saw your hair. I I thought maybe it was a long earring. I couldn't tell. I was holding it up. Um but um but you had an a necklace on um I guess in honor. I don't know what the right word is for just so you could think about those hostages every single day. I never took it off for 738 days. And you took it off this morning. So, I took a picture of that and I put it on Instagram because I there were times wearing that necklace where I got to tell you like I didn't I was like gh it doesn't go with this or like I'm going to go in the ocean now and it's you know what EJ I felt like those people who wear P bracelets in during Vietnam like you can't take it off and I look like a dog tag like you know it's a dog tag and I was like trying to you know and I wouldn't take it off and so just today like I looked in the mirror when I woke up and I told Mark I go guess the necklace comes off and it was just like a really it was a moment that some of us thought was never going to arrive but but you needed to talk about that I think um and and knowing and I talked about it. No, no, it's good it's good that you brought it up on the air this morning and we brought it up briefly and I said that before and I know it's not the same as 1980 when the hostages were let go, but that was such a big worldwide story and so is this and yeah and you know there's a lot of things that people love and hate about Donald Trump. It's so divisive. But on this, this is something I think that well 80% of us can agree on. Even Hillary Clinton this morning was championing him, but championing him. But um what you know, in the Knesset, there were two people, two lefties, you know, they're uh certainly Israeli lefties who got up and they're in the parliament and and protested. They took them out really quickly. So, we're not all going to agree, but um the one thing we can all agree on, unless you really just, you know, want all Jews to die, is it's a beautiful thing to see mothers hugging their Well, God bless those people. And just Oh, and there are plenty of those, by the way, like who cares? I wish they were dead. You know, but the trauma, think about the trauma from the P. They're never going to leave that trauma behind. It's always going to be with them, and it's always going to be with their family. So, our heart, our heart goes out to those those hostages. Did you hear about the one that killed himself the day before? No, you wouldn't hear about this stuff because they don't they don't talk about it. You mean the day before the Friday? I was uh one of the guys I was on I didn't I was off the grid. Sorry. Okay. So, he was at the Nova Festival. Um he and his girlfriend friend played dead for several hours. Yeah, I know. That whole thing just in your mind it's like, "Oh my god." They shot both of them. She died. He lived and he couldn't take it anymore. And he killed himself Friday. So, put it this way, kids. Uh there's a lot to be thankful for. God is great. Now, speaking of God, um only God knows what the weather's going to be, right? As much as we try to predict, now I'm not I'm going to say that Danzero was the best and the closest to predicting this storm exactly correctly cuz I looked and I saw like my really Mammoth County was sort of in a zone where it ended. So, it's very possible that so many people got it worse than I did, but like we had nothing. We had some rain. So, I had some rain over the weekend. We had rain and but like I thought it was going to be a noraster nor easter where we like had to batten down the hatches. So, I was wondering what you had Kyle and what you had EJ. Well, EJ, you were out of I was in the mountains. Yeah. Yeah. Uh we got like some drizzle and a lot of heavy winds but no hard rain or anything. You certainly it was strong winds. I mean, you could hear it like kind of shaking. Yeah. Uh where I was, but it it's it was nothing like I had anticipated or expected it could be. It wasn't very bad. We got back yesterday afternoon and last night I could hear the winds overnight, but again, we we all have that standard of sandy at this point, right? I know. It's like a rain shower in spring. And especially because we've also been told a lot of times that it's going to be bad and then it turns out not to be so bad. So, where was it bad? That's the first thing I want to know. 1 8002831015. Anybody listening to me today? Because we want to get the full scoop and take the pulse of New Jersey post nor Easter. Um, I'm sure the people in Sebrite got flooding because people in Sebrite get flooding when there's, you know, a flake of snow. They just that area, the infrastructure there is not because it's between the ocean and the river. It's just there's no way to contain the wall. I don't know of a bigger seaw wall in New Jersey than there is in uh in Seabbrite. Right. I mean, that's a huge wall. True. But you know, we've seen it coming over the water plenty of time, the wall plenty of times. Um so that's the first place they go on the news. They're like, "We're in Sebrite, New Jersey, waiting for the flood." So I was like, "Okay, they're going to get it bad." So if you're anywhere in that neighborhood, Mammoth Beach, Seabbrite, going that way, Sandy Hook, how is it over there? Well, the big concern going forward though is the high tide at 2:00 this afternoon. Um that it's going to be higher than the previous high tide. So, while the rain will be dying down, the ocean's still going to be crazy. The high and not just on the ocean side, but uh on the bay side, I know they're concerned specifically like in Ocean County and Atlantic County. And there are some roads that go into Atlantic City that had been flooded over that will be flooded over again later today. So, but what's interesting is EJ and Kyle you can I'm sure can answer this too in your short history on this earth. How many times people planned for stuff that didn't happen? Um and so one of my big questions is were you battening down the hatches before this nor easter? Uh 1 800 2831015 is our phone number. Obviously, that was a big story over the weekend. But what's interesting to me is today is a holiday. Yeah, it's Columbus Day, right? What happens on the holiday, any holiday, especially when it falls on a Monday cuz Monday holidays, people do not call. Yeah, things are a little slower. So, we'll just talk. That's what we do. We'll just talk. But also, I would like to invite people to text in on our app chat. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. and our app chat is wide open for your comments. Uh, a couple questions going on here. A, did you plan for like something bigger than it was? Or maybe you did have something big in terms of water, flooding, damage, wind, and I'm just not aware of it cuz I don't want to make it like just cuz I was okay, everybody else was. I'm thinking there are people who did have some damage. So, you you're on I guess two side. I mean, there are two kinds of people in this world today. Those who were affected by this and those who thought it was going to be something and it turned out to be nothing. And I'm in the latter camp. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Meteorologists are not God. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. And EJ, yeah, what do you got? Uh, no. I have to get the codes. Okay. I'm working on that right now. I got $1,000 in just a second here. So excited. But first, let's take a quick look at New Jersey fasting goods. We have always believed sport.com. It's the Judy and A. Uh, you could tell it's a Monday. It's the Judy and EJ show. Thank you, Kyle. New Jersey 101.5 on Columbus Day. Some people are off from work today, Judy, but not us. There was a time when I believe that we more companies would get off for Columbus Day than they do now. Yeah, nobody cares. I mean, it's Italians care. Nobody cares. I cannot even tell you. Well, what are we talking? And by the way, EJ, you're getting compliments on your reading of the code. Uh Scott, who's a frequent app chatter, yeah, is a is a big critique of the app code and he said, "EJ stated the code this morning perfectly. I bet Judy can't do that. Lol." Well, I mean, last week I was accused of reading it too fast and too slow, so I, you know, I know. I'm just winging it now. Uh, and Paul and Tom's River says Tom's River was spared. Now, I'm not sure if to I mean, I don't know. I think they were saying it was more of like a really coastal store. Like, isn't that what a nor easter is? Well, I think the the they expected the effects to come in a little farther, maybe all the way out to the parkway and maybe a little be beyond. But all weekend I looked at the rain and it seemed like it was just sort of hugging, you know, kind of up and down the Parkway and along the immediate shore. And the flooding, that's the big issue, the the flooding from the ocean and the back bays, which they're still concerned about with high tide at 2:00 this afternoon. Okay. So, we're not out of the woods with this storm, but how did it affect you? Uh, did you go running around like you do before a snowstorm uh where you get the bread and the milk and whatever? Were you battening down the hatches? I actually saw in patch yesterday uh the Asbury Park patch there was an article about free sandbag filling in Asbury Park and I thought to myself I didn't even I mean it's two towns over from me like I didn't even consider that I needed sandbags and then I was like oh this must be for people who really like live on the ocean right but I thought of saying to Mark like should we go get some sand and then Mark's like dude we don't have to go to at like we have a right here. I don't think sandbags would make too much of a difference right on the ocean side, you know, but maybe on the bay sides. Uh you would they would be helpful because the water rises more slowly and not with those crazy waves. I saw some crazy photos out of uh Kate May County, Avalon, Ocean City, the beach in Ocean City is like not there anymore. It's like it's the boardwalk and then it might go down like 10 feet. Like it just was like Okay, so there is an area where this thing really hit home. Well, there were people with kayaks on the street in Avalon uh over yesterday. They they were kayaking and there was a there was a guy swimming in the flood waters. Isn't that disgusting? Oh, that sounds gross. Anything for social media, Judy. I know. I know. It's so true. But I mean, I'm looking outside my window here in the Mammoth County Bureau and it does look like a severe, you know, wind event. How's your How's your lawn furniture, Judy? Is it holding up? Oh, our lawn Why are you saying that? Cuz you ever see the meme that says with one plastic chair one plastic chair and it blew over. You know, this will be one of those. My husband is anal about the law. You don't even understand. Oh, so I hit a nerve with that with that question. You did. That's why I'm like, wait, how do you know that like our lawn furniture is like shrink wrapped and the cushions are stored in this perfect spot because he loves his cushions? And I mean, the minute he smells like rain in the air, he'll call me up. are the cushions off the furniture? And I'm like, dude, they're outdoor cushions. They're not gonna get destroyed in the rain. I'm right there with him, though. Whenever there's I look at the forecast when there's ever the threat of rain, I make sure those cushions come in because I don't want to have a damp ass on Friday night. I know. I know. I totally get it. But I just laugh like those cushions more than like his kids floating downream. He'll call me about the cushions. The cushions. How and the kids and how in the cushions. Al is in Surf City. He says where he is, all side streets are flooded. Yeah, Judy, before I get to that, you know, I you know, I like to talk about other things. Yeah. CNN and MSNBC are doing everything in their power to bend over backwards to not talk about Donald Trump and what's going on right now. I mean, the verbal gymnastics. I know. Absolutely amazing. By the way, I found that to be so entertaining that I actually utilized for the first time ever, there's a multi-creen option on my TV. So, and I've never used it, but like 4 in the morning, Mark and I are like up all night like waiting to see them come home. And Mark's like, "You we of course we're watching Fox News because we know they're going to show." And Mark goes, "You got to put on MSNBC and CNN." So, we start watching all of it. And these poor people are so uncomfort. I'm almost really I I have sympathy for them because they're so uncomfortable having to say anything good. So they're not just absurd. Well, in the real world, Al and Judy, I I see people I talk to that I I have some liberal friends, but but they're giving Trump high marks on this. It's like those channels have their head in the sand. Those channels are different than that. I have I've come to know and even on the other side because I watch Fox News and I was calling my kids like is everything okay on Colombia campus because my daughter-in-law had a works there and she's like I don't even know what you're talking about like you're watching too much Fox News. So both of them both of them you know anyway go on Al. So the side streets down here what you got to do is if you want to go anywhere I had to go a couple places look at some properties that I you know I take care of to see how it's going. You got to weed yourself in and out. Like you can't go down 10th, that's flooded. You can go up to 12th, come down this way, go down the boulevard, go around. And it's not letting up anytime soon. I mean, this is it's not crazy, but it's it's just relentless. It hasn't let up at all. How's the beach look, Al? Is it eroded? The beach is coming. There's, you know, how you get that that drop off? Yeah, that that chunk that chop. Yeah, the cliff. Yeah, the chop. And then it's and then some of the spots where it's a little low where it's all the way up to the back of the beachfront walkways where the dunes are. Um I took a walk up there real quick, but it's still howling down here. I mean, it's not, you know. So that must have been the sweet spot because so far your area is the area that's calling in and writing in to say it's horrible. Al, I have to let you go because they're going to kill me in the newsroom, but I love you for calling. I want a little more of a report from all over the state. 1 8002831015. what's going on out there uh in terms of the nor easter your calls next and it's 10:30 family farm is open for the fall 7 Kyle while I have your attention you seem relaxed today you're over last week no sports stress from the weekend I was thinking that's out of my life now yes no more stress so I'm sorry I'm kind of just chill now yeah it's funny uh I I feel good too I went up to the mountains over the weekend I relaxed I'm almost too relaxed Judy that's when you really I think so I don't know you think I sometimes think you need to take a little bit of a chill pill, but you know, I did something weird last night, guys, that I don't do a lot. And then we'll get to Harry cuz he has the uh storm info from Normandy Beach. But I went to a dinner party last night and I had a drink. I you know me, guys, I never drink, right? Um but I don't know, my friends had us over. They're making cosmos. You want a Cosmo? I don't even know what a Cosmo is, but okay. I took two sips of it. I thought I would vomit. You didn't like the Cosmo? I said, I don't. There's nothing sweet in here to dull the taste of the alcohol. It's a little dry. So, wait, there's some grapefruit juice in there. Well, here's what it is. He took a a mixer, a Cosmo mixer, right? Put it in and then put it in uh whatever the alcohol is. So, whatever was in that pink bottle of mixer, I don't know, but it was horrible. So, I'm like, "Can you please put some OJ in here?" He did, and then I could tolerate it. Okay. And I drank like almost the whole thing. I was smashed to the point where I had to force myself to stay. Well, I wanted to stay up anyway to see the hostage thing, but I had to force myself to stay up cuz I knew if I fell asleep like that, I would wake up with a headache. So, I'm like, "Keep me up. Keep me up. I'm on the phone. I'm drinking coffee." I cannot even tell you how drunk I were. I was insane. So, this is just like yesterday evening or Yeah. And you're not hung over at all? I mean, I stayed up most of the night, so probably if like I take a nap after work, then I will wake up overnight. Well, you probably drank a lot of water, too, overnight, right? I did. I did. That helps a lot. I kept drinking water. But anyway, so I know I was so proud of myself. I'm like, guys, I drank like a grown-up. I'm so proud of myself. Um, and I live to tell the tale. So, what do you guys speaking of telling the tale? What is the mo or I should say, what is the um situation with the weather out there? We have a noraster. It was supposed to be brutal. In some places, it actually was. Yeah. Where I live, it's I mean, it's windy, but nothing else. And the whole state is under a state of emergency. By the way, who instituted the state of emergency? Governor, he's away, right? Murphy's away. Nobody knows really where he is. And I forget the name of the lieutenant governor. What's her name? Oh god, I always forget her. I know. I'm not good with lieutenant governors. Shame on me. But anyway, the lieutenant governor shame on you because if if seriously, what the do we need a lieutenant governor? Like if if she did anything important, I would tell you to know her name. Well, do you remember like 30 years ago, 20 years ago, there there wasn't a lieutenant governor? That's that's a relatively new trend, isn't it? Exactly. Which is why I think there because they the governors want to take vacations all the time. Correct. But anyway, there's a state of emergency, believe it or not. Well, let me tell you something. That guy called the state of emergency anyway at every Forget it. We were brining we were brining streets in July. I mean, he's insane, right? All right. Harry in Normandy Beach has some advice for us regarding the storm. And by the way, if you want to chime in, tell us what's going on in your town. 1800 2831015 is our number. Hi, Harry. Hey, good morning, Judy. Uh, and EJ. Good morning, Harry. I just thought Good morning. Yeah, well, it's coming down horizontally here. I'm between the two highways at the firehouse across from Used to Bees and the rain is just in the parking lot on a on a like it's just being blown off the ocean and it horizontally coming in over the highway, not straight down across. So, and the and the water's up to the dunes that the state put in during after Sandy, but I was up at the Point Pleasant inlet and the waves are crashing. Now, there's a park. I don't know if you've ever been there. There's a parking lot about a three-foot ledge that you can walk down to get by the bulkhead for the fisherman. It's blowing up and o it's blowing up and over that onto the parking lot, bringing rocks, clamshells, seaweed, and everything and dumping it in the parking lot. So, you don't even want to park your car facing the water because you might get hit with something, you know, and break your windshield. No. But, uh, Harry, was that was it doing that on during Hurricane Sandy? Do you remember? Uh, well, during Hurricane Sandy, I was just, uh, let me see. That's Well, I don't know too much about the about the ocean. I stayed here. I stayed here out here on the barrier island with Sandy. That's the first time I've ever seen the ocean meet the bay on my street. The water is coming down coming down the street and coming up from the bay. But talking about the bay down around uh Chadwick Beach southbound 35 and just keep an eye open between uh Strickland and Kitty Wakeake between the two traffic lights because if it's the lowest point on Route 35 out here and it just comes up between the bay because the bay is right there and then it just you know with the high tide coming the water has nowhere to go except back up to storm. That's a good warning for for people who live in that area or who are going to travel to that area. Thank you, Harry. And that water's on its way in now high tide at 2:00, so it's only going to get worse. Yeah. So, he's going to see a lot more uh a lot more rocks and plants and birds and rocks and things. That's right. What song is that? There were plants and birds and rocks and things. America with no name. Thank you. Felt good to get out of the rain in the desert. You can't remember your name because there ain't no party. Good song. All right. Um 10:43. And by the way, we are looking forward to your phone call because I don't want to feel like we're talking about a storm that only affected one tiny pinpoint of the stakes. I know that's not true. if you had any anything any damage or any flooding or anything to report about the storm, I'd love to hear from you. Yeah. Um I know by me and I think that I was supposed to be the cut off, so I get it, but I was very surprised at how how much of a nothing burger. Dan did say or Dan or Yeah, I think it was Dan said that uh I guess we expected a little more rain, but the effects of the storm were still there from the ocean with the waves and the beach erosion and the flooding and we're not done yet. Right. Right. Right. Uh maybe we should talk to him. By the way, uh to Dan also um somebody said spot on with the CNN observation. That wasn't mine. It was Al's but and I agreed. just think I just think how painful it is for them to cover Trump. And today is, by the way, like the the most fun day to ever watch mainstream media, you know, the because it always leans that way is like the day after Trump was elected and like a day like today where there was like a huge victory that he was a huge part of, right? Um, so I love that. I did some of this studying uh when I was not working over and I'd go to the Planet Fitness and all the all the TVs all lined up in front of the treadmills and you'd you'd have Fox and CNN and all next to each other and there could be something huge going on on either side of the aisle and one would have it on, one wouldn't have it on and it's just so stupid. But I will say since uh right now since you're giving me the opportunity to talk about this, Benjamin Netanyahu will go down in history as one of the most consequential leaders of the 21st century. He is at the forefront of fighting Islamic terrorism, not only for his country, but also for the rest of the world. So God bless him. He should live a long healthy life. 10:45 we're going to be back with weather and traffic and your phone call next. Talking about that noraster, the great noraster of October of 2025 on New Jersey 101.5's Judy and EJ show. Um, I maintain that Dan Zarrow is the most accurate meteorologist in the entire Northeast. And he doesn't fall into the hype whatsoever. He never does. He keeps it real as the young people say, Judy. Yeah. Or is that middle-aged people that say that? As the young. Um, but he is because Tommy Freehold wrote in our app chat, he's the only meteorologist that didn't use the doom and gloom forecast. He really did not. He said that there's going to be some real bad stuff here and then right here it's probably not going to be that bad. And he just say, you know what it is? He's not looking for the sensational forecast, right? The all the effects were at the shore on the bay side, on the ocean side. Here's the thing that I find a colossal waste of money. And I know it's necessary for tourism and whatnot and to protect property, but when rebuilding these beaches and the millions and millions of dollars they spend on this and they bring all this sand in only for three months later, nature just takes it back. I know it seems so stupid, but you have to do it, I guess, right? 100%. What are you going to do? I know. It's it's it when I see that also, I think it's like the It's like when you build a sand castle and you're a little kid, ocean takes the sand castle away. It's the same thing. Exactly the same thing. Um, no, I know what you're saying, but really around me, um, our beaches look fine. Like we drove yesterday by the Mark likes to go before Sandy, too. Are you like this? No. Oh, you just like to go. Yeah, I like to go watch I remember going with Gloria. There was one called Gloria. That was the first one I ever went to check out and I remember from being a kid, you know. Uh and my buddy Wayne, who's a news man. Yeah. He was doing news back then and he he walked through the water with his cassette deck and he could hear the water slashing in the background while he was doing it was reported. It was brilliant. Oh, great. Cuz it's radio. You're not going to see the waves. Those are the days. But you're going to hear them. Yep. Yep. So true. And guess what? There was nobody surfing yesterday. Normally, you know, we take a ride to the ocean and in weather like that, it's perfect surfing weather. I couldn't It was too much for the surfers. You know what? I think the surfers now are like Kyle's age, right? Or maybe younger, right? They're scared. They're not like surfers of your where the best thing that could happen to you is that you'd find a 10-footer out there. You know, I think if you're a surfer and you go out there, I don't really know that you're afraid of the waves or anything. I think he got a little screw loose anyway and that might attract you. Yeah. I don't I don't think it has anything to do with the age. You don't think that the people today I was going to say kids today even if they're surfers they got a little bit of a different mentality like they're like but still it's a safety issue. Well, I mean I would have that but I'm not a surfer so I you know you know maybe the difference between the storm today and then over the summer we had the rip currents and told people stay out with lifeguards. We were talking about that a few months ago, but but maybe it was just like too rough with like they weren't smooth waves. They were like choppy waves and you wouldn't be able to stay up very long, you know? Maybe. I mean, I'm not a surfer, but I'm guessing that maybe it was a little even too rough for that. Not because you're afraid. No, you just wouldn't be able to stay up there for a while. It could be. It could be that it wasn't a great surfing day because I don't know the difference. Yeah. Um, so coming up in the next hour, I've been reading this book, I think I told you about it, John Height, about uh called The Anxious Generation, talking about how kids with smartphones in Gen Z, the fact that they had them while their brains were developing during puberty, blah blah blah blah blah, right? Um, is what turned this generation into a different kind of person. I can't wait to hear more about that. So, um, honestly, I really I find this stuff fascinating. Oh my god, it's amazing. But anyway, so since some New Jersey schools are saying, you know what? You're right. We're banning schools. Uh, we're banning schools. Let's ban schools. We're banning phones in schools. And guess what? I think they're right. Shouldn't be any phones in schools. What do you think? I think there should be. Okay, good. We'll talk about it later. Over there is EJ. Yeah. Already thinking about Friday cuz Friday I'm in love and that's when I had my martini. And you had one last night. I did. Or a Cosmo. And I'm so proud of myself. my sister who's like a a wino um she loves to drink. She calls me, she texted me and said, "Where did you drink last night? What are you talking about?" I said, "I'm trying to be you." So she's like, "Oh my god, a no hangover. I'm so proud of you." Wow. All that water. Yeah. By the way, Judy, can I plug our articles at nj1015.com? Absolutely. Do it. Thinking of moving to New Jersey? Here's the brutal truth. I wrote that one. The Jersey Sports Fans Guide to Heartbreak Recovery. I wrote that one. 10 things New Jerseyians should keep in their car. Who wrote that? Me. He did. He did. Kyle wrote that one. And delicious South Jersey Pizzeria. Tell us more about that. Yeah. Down in uh in Hannesport, New Jersey. You like tomato pie? You like regular pizza? You like simple Italian food? They got it all and it's all delicious. Matteos. All those articles went up this morning at nj1015.com. Give it till next week, Judy. He will no longer want to do that. I should I know. All right. Maybe give him a month. I like to write. What kind of a um What kind of a dog is this? I just Somebody I know got a dog. Maybe it's a Shih Tzu. And it looks like a mix between like a shepherd and a husky. And it is the cutest little thing. And I'm like not good at dog breeds. I just know the ugly ones. But this one's really cute. Do you know what this is? That looks like a German Shepherd puppy. It is a puppy, but it might be a mix of something else cuz it has a This looks with the blue eyes. That looks a little husky. You know, it could be a shushki. Aki a shubsky. I just made that up. It's a shepherd and a husky. A shupsky. Um, let me see. I think that this is a it's either a pure German Shepherd puppy at a very young age. No. Or um Yeah. A husky German mix. Yeah. I think it's a hus I think it's a German Shepherd actually cuz I I have a friend, my friend Linda, she's got two big German shepherds. Always had German Shepherds and Enzo, he was a puppy like 10 years ago. We got to be very close. So I I I'm familiar with German Shepherd puppies. Okay. GSPs they call them in the business. GSPs. Do they? I didn't know that. I always thought in in Jersey. No, GSD. GSD. I'm sorry. GSP though if they're a puppy or if they're the guard state park. Okay. A phone number here is 1 800 2831015. Why am I giving the number? Um I because people are anticipating this killer topic we're about to go into. So I do think a lot of people have really strong opinions about this. I the only reason I think it could at all be important for a kid to have a phone in school is if there's an emergency. And even then, you know, what did we do for hundreds of years when we were in our duck and cover under the desk hoping that we wouldn't get bombed by the uh Cubans or whoever was coming after us, the Russians, I guess it was then, right? um if if our school was bombed, our parents would find out. They had no way to call us. But now people say, "Oh, we need to have phones in schools." I just think it's enough. Um kids use them to cheat. They are on Snapchat during school. I always use Snapchat cuz I think nobody uses it anymore, but I mean they're on Instagram during class. I don't think there's any reason for a kid to have a phone at school. come in in the morning, put it uh in a cabinet or a locker, whatever they do, and then you can have it again at the end of the day, and then you can call your parents or send a picture of your boobs to your boyfriend, whatever it is you want to do. Um, New Jersey is implementing a phone free schools grant program. What that does is it adds a couple of bucks into the school's coffers in case they want to pay for storage solutions like lockers and stuff. Um, and I think it's time to We all know what social media does. It's horrible. There isn't even one good thing about it for kids. Not one. Not one. You know what's wacky about this story, though? These grants you're talking about. Yeah. They start at $500. I know. That That's laughable. Well, I think $500, you know, is probably what it costs to buy like the locker. Well, they said some kind of bag they put them in, you know. Oh. Oh, okay. Yeah, the bag. But what I'm saying is uh now that we've determined and we know from whistleblowers and just from the media and from watching documentaries and behind the scenes, now that we know that it wasn't enough for social media companies um to go for your child's brain, now they want to get to the brain stem. And I'm reading a really interesting book about it. Too late for my kids cuz they're grown. But if you are in the thick of this and obviously you don't want your kid to be left out of everything and so you can't be the only parent who doesn't allow it. But I'm just telling you right now if all the parents were allowing their kids to shoot up heroin, would you say, "Okay, I guess I have to let them shoot up heroin." There's got to be one mom or dad who stands up and says says, "No, no social media and no phones in schools. We don't need phones in schools." And I'm so happy that New Jerseyy's taking action on this. I don't believe in government intervention in too many things. Yes. But I believe in this. I'm surprised. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. Why does a kid need seriously EJ? Only cuz they're children. Well, if it were adults, I'd say, okay, you know, the thing is is destroying your brain. You know, you're sucked in and you know the company's worked hard to get you addicted and sucked in social media. But I can't say that an adult should have the government saying when he can and cannot use his phone. So we shouldn't adapt to techn technological changes. Not in that respect. No. Because again, what if you knew that like I'm sure there are parents out there who say that you can't go their kids shouldn't go on 4chan, right? They put specific regulations and filters on their kids' phones because they don't want them going on websites that say, you know, hateful things or encourage them to commit violence or whatever, right? So, if you know that's bad for your kids, so you would have put a filter, then why wouldn't you put a filter on all of it when you know it's all bad for your kid? And there is no evidence that there's anything good about it except that they won't feel left out. So we're talking about social media. That's the only thing the kids are doing right during the day on their phone. Well, in terms of usage of of school school time and you're on your phone during school time, you you don't think that they that they have it within them to regulate it or nor they and you don't think they should be able to regulate it like they don't. That's why they're doing this, right? Because as they just don't want to do it. They don't want to deal with it. Well, no. They they try to tell kids you can't use it during class, but of course kids use it during class and you know, they cheat on test with it or they're sending messages to their friend with it or they're texting with it. My kid wasn't allowed to use her phone. Neither of my kids were allowed. I'm saying that the two that had phones in high school, right? Um and they texted me all day. I'm like, "Aren't you in class?" Like, yeah, but I just want to say this one thing. You can't stop a kid from texting in class if they have the phone. Teacher can't watch every single kid. Yeah. I I think that when we were young and calculators came along, they told us, and I know it's two different things altogether, but still, they oh, you can't use calculators. You have to learn how to do the math. And then 10 years later, they allowed calculators, right? And then, right, and and with the phones, the phones have been have become such a part of us. And the way that's what I have to say way way we commu communicate with our our parents, our kids. Um there's a calculator on the phone. There could be programs on the phone that you could use to help you with school. Um if a parent signs a a plea that the phone will have nothing on it, but for instance, if kids only had flip phones, I would say thousand%. Right? It's the smartphone that's dangerous, right? You have a flip phone so you could text, calculate, do um my daughter has one that has GPS on it so she can get places. And before she had that, she used to call me up, I'm at Mama's Mall. How do I And I'm like, dude, get a GPS. Leave me alone. You know, can we get Kyle's word real quick before the break? Cuz he was just in school like yesterday. Yes. Uh yeah. I mean, I I think I go back and forth on this all the time. I I you know, you shouldn't be on the phone when you're in class. I'm not saying that you should do that when your teacher's explaining a lesson or whatever. Sitting there on your phone doesn't help anybody. I I think that teachers should either try to a have the phones be taken in the front of the class, like have them put them in a bin or something if you want to try and get rid of that because there I I don't see the need to ban them from school property or to ban the use of them while you're in school. I know that we don't like them and I know it's so easy to say let's just get rid of them. You're in the 20 you're in the 21st century. It's 2025. Phones aren't going anywhere. And there are advantages to being technologically literate. And if anything, use the phones to your advantage. When I was in school, we used to play this game called Cahoot where we would have our phones get synced up to something and it would be like a study review. There are ways around it to try and make it so that the phone either is helpful or the kids are just less likely to use them. Banning them in schools feels like a cop. I do agree with that. Collectively, don't go to school if you need to do something called Cahoot on your phone that teaches you stay home. It's like a uh it's like a study review. Collect it for the individual class. Like you go into the classroom, you put it there. But correct. But they're talking about bell to bell all day long. They have no I don't agree with that. No. I mean when you're walking in between classes, like I'm sorry. They're kids. It's what it's they're you're kids. I that's the best way I can describe it. Like you're just you're not going to be able to get rid of kids having a phone addiction or whatever. And and they're not going to be happy if you take them away. It's just going to cause even more of anger from the kids. Too bad. 1 800283101.5. Um, and the more you're talking, the more I'm realizing how we're giving in to kids by allowing them to have this thing all day. Like, you're strengthening my argument. You bought them this $1,000 phone. God bless you. You made that decision. You allowed them to go on whatever websites. You made that decision. But they're in school now. The school has rules. And the rule should be you're not allowed to use it from the beginning of the day till the end of the day. I had these kids today. Schools that do that, you know, don't get too much push back. I think parents are pretty happy about it. Anyway, we got to take a break. It's 11:20. Here's New Jersey Fast Franco. So, how's your back? All right. Remember, the machine knows if you're lying. First statement, Carvana will give you a real offer on your car all online. False. True. Actually, you can sell your car in minutes. False. That's got to be true again. Carvana will pick up your car from your door, or you can drop it off at one of their car vending machines. Sounds too good to be true. So true. Finally caught on. Nice job. Honesty isn't just their policy. It's their entire model. Sell your car today, too. Carvana. Pickup fees may apply. Five. The Judy and EJ show. New Jersey 101.5 talking about the proposed cell phone ban here in New Jersey. Governor Murphy pledges a sprint to the finish of his term with a push to ban cell phones in schools. They're talking bell-to bell all day long. Kyle and I seem to agree that maybe individual classes, take the phone when you go into class, get the phone back, have it between classes, have it at lunchroom, have it during your break time, have it during sports, maybe. But Judy says, "Not at all. All day long." All day long. And we got some people want to talk about this. Um, but some brilliant person on the app chat said, "Here's the real key. If the school had a signal jammer that disables social media apps and really all apps, like if you could just use it for texting, that would be good. Maybe some setting in their Wi-Fi that doesn't allow that'll cost you more than $500 for a bag. That's for sure. So, the best thing is leave it home. Okay. Or leave it in your locker. Uh Jim in North PL Oh, wait. We go to Linda, right? Linder. Jim, we'll talk to you in a second. I got the colors a little messed up. Should we um should more schools in New Jersey place a ban on cell phones? Linda, hi. And how? Hi. How are you? Good. Hello. Hi, Linda. Yeah. So, I'm I'm a parent who my kids don't have access to this stuff. Like, we're totally simple and I prefer it that way. They I have an iPad, but they don't know the password to use it. Um, you know, they're they can only use it when I say they can. And a About two years ago, my si my daughters are eight and seven. My sister wanted to get them Tamagotchis. And I went to visit her in California and I saw how obsessed her daughter was over making sure the thing was fed that it like reminded me of I'm 39. When I was younger, we had Tamagotchi. We had Gigapet. I feel like that's what started the addiction to things like that. And I'm so against it. My my daughter when she started kindergarten did terrible on the like on the assessments when they started school to see where what they knew, but they were using iPads. She had never used an iPad before. My eight-year-old wants her teacher to give her homework on paper instead of the iPad she brings home. So, she's like, "Why do I have to do this on an iPad? I'm so against Wait, the schools have iPads for homework?" I In third in third in third grade, we're in Howell in third grade. She's going to start bringing her iPad home. I had to pay $55 for a warranty on this iPad that hasn't actually come home yet. But my eight-year-old was like, "Can you just not do it because I don't want to do homework on an iPad." I don't know why your kids are in public school, Linda, because they certainly don't belong there. You're going to be in the minority of parents and your kids are going to feel left out. I know. We We did Montasauri for the for kindergarten for my oldest, but it was $15,000 a year, so it's not really in the budget. No, I know. I know. I mean, let me tell you something person. So, the p the Catholic schools, the Christian schools are not my cup of tea. You wouldn't ever be able to um homeschool, right? I I have to work and I don't school is unfortunately my kids. Yeah, it is for a lot of people. Anyone to watch them during the day? That's if if I could send my kids to the Walder School in Princeton for $40,000 a year, I'd be so happy. That's my That's my my stance. But I just Yeah, we are not They don't have phones. There's a like a campaign wait till 8th and they're going to be at least 8th grade before they have access. Like you said, I might get them a flip phone if they're out for sports or Yeah. with a friend and I want to have access to them, but they're not going to have smartphones. They will not have Instagram, Facebook, any of these ridiculous apps where you can send messages anonymously. Like I'm so against it. Yeah. You're going to you're going to you're doing your kids a favor. I can't even believe though that kids would have them at 8. Kids have phones at 8. Oh, yes. Yeah. Some of my daughter's friends, they're like they're they they play Roblox. They, you know, they're Yes. They have phones. They're texting. They have like It's And my daughter does not will not like and I'm I don't you know, I'm I'm okay with that. She cares so much. my seven-year-old Caris, but I wait years. I so appreciate your your comments. I have a quick question for Linda. Judy, Linda, so what about the the other parents that are around your age and your kids' friends? Are are they like-minded as you or do you find yourself in the minority with this type of management on on your kids and their phones and their inority? When we were when when we were at Montasauri for my oldest daughter's kindergarten year, I was not the myari. Every parent agrees in a public school. It is a completely different public school is a garbage a dumpster fire as they say. If I Yeah, Linda, if I didn't have to, I wouldn't. But thank you so much for calling. I appreciate it. Um, some app chat people are saying, and I don't know that this is true, Kyle. You were there more recently than I was. All students are given laptops now. Yeah. So, when I went, we had Chromebooks. Now, you couldn't bring them home, but like that was what and we didn't do all of our work on that, but there would be some times where you used the Chromebooks. So, why can't you use that in and for messaging instead of a phone? Well, a Chromebook isn't what do you mean like messaging what? Like, can you send messages? No, the Chromebook was all through the school. So, a Chromebook is just like a laptop. Now, what uh our last caller was just saying, I had never heard of having an iPad and you bring that home for home. Like, we did not do any of that. Now, again, this is what I was telling you off the air of I I want to know examples of like what is going on in schools now cuz we hear ban ban ban ban ban. I wasn't in school that long ago. We weren't crazy and I was in very similar spot as these kids. Kyle, it doesn't matter. You shouldn't have had them. Nobody should have them. They're a distraction. We have enough time uh of a problem educating our kids. Um they can't pay attention. Very few kids are doing as well as they could. And that's just because of the way the world is. So couple that with having a device in school, it's just a recipe for another issue. Now, I would never send my kids to public school anyway, and I went broke putting my kids in private school, but this is just the kind of thing that you're going to have to deal with if you're in public school. Your kid's going to be the only one if you refuse it. It's 11:31. Jim will talk to you in a minute. Stay with us on Attention construction. Well, hello there. It's the Judy and EJ show. Murphy pledges a sprint to the finish of his term with a push to ban cell phones in schools. A major goal during the lame duck period this fall is a bell-to-bell ban. I do like the name bell-to-bell ban of cell phones in schools. That would be at or near the top of his list. Um, don't you want to have a punk band named Lame Duck Period? I do. Yeah. Or or such a good name. Or Bell to Bell. That's a good name, too. Bel is another good name. But we disagree, Judy, on this, you know, and Kyle and I do agree that we think Beltoell is extreme. I think individual classes, teachers collect it. Class begins, you put it in a bag. Class ends, you take the phone out with Imagine the entire day is like we're wasting time on like walking up to the How long does it take to drop a phone in a bag? Oh, do me a favor. That's so dumb. So dumb. And why do they need to be between classes like texting people? Listen, it's 2025, Judy. Times change. I know. And 2025 sucks. So why can't we remove some of the suckiness of it? I'm just glad my kids are grown up. Me, too. Let's go to Jim North Plainfield. promised him we were going to talk to him. He says, "Parents need controls of the phone." I um I I would I was always that mean mommy, so it probably wouldn't be hard for me to say I I don't care if all the other kids have it. What about you, Jimmy? I would agree with that. Uh, but I I'm walking at watching my son and daughter-in-law um just give a a phone to his 12year-old grandson and it's completely controlled by the parent. It's not one of these fancy damn things and uh it's got limited phone address on it. Uh address book is limited to who he can talk to. How old is this kid, Jim? 12 years old. This is the first time he's got to take the bus to and from school. Um, so there's an app on there to to track him getting on the school bus when he gets off. And u that's all he can do with it. He can call his grandparents, his uh mother, and his father. That's it. That's what a 12-year-old needs. That that is all a 12-y old needs. Jim, thank you for calling uh New Jersey 101.5. Matter of fact, my grandkids have uh Apple Air Tags in their backpacks to track because they don't carry phones. So, I mean, they're young. They wouldn't The oldest is eight. He wouldn't have a phone. Do you Do you track Mark? Oh, yeah. Of course. Yeah. My wife and I track each other. Yeah. I don't track him, but I Well, I wonder if she left work yet. You know, I'll do that. Me, too. 100%. I don't know if he tracks me, though. I don't think he knows. Like I leave it um so that he can, but I don't think he knows how to like figure it out. Yeah. I tell you that air tag's amazing. Like for your luggage, like you know when you're landing. Oh, right. And you check the air tag and it's like, oh my god, my air my my suitcase is where it's supposed to be. So you can see it go from the plane and then through the tarmac and into the gate and then you can see it on its way to the what's it called? The conveyor belt. What's that thing called? The baggage claim. The baggage claim. The thing goes around and around. Yeah, that's I guess. Luggage carousel. Do you see the carousel? Do you see it going around and around in circles? No, you don't do that. But imagine if you lost it. You'd know exactly where it was. Sure. Oh, I had a phone stolen once and ended up in North Philly. I didn't go get it. No, I don't I don't blame you. But I can't believe you could track it cuz normally when people steal your phone or when you lose your phone, they know how to cut that thing immediately. Yeah. I saw where it was and then I just said, "I'm not going after it. Cut. Got to cut it off." That's amazing. Yeah. I'm not not going to town. I once lost my phone in like the the the worst part of uh Long Branch in the hood. There's no more hood now. Everything about Long Branch is getting You just leave it. Um No. The guy actually I called, he picked it up and he goes, "Is this your phone?" I go, "Yeah." He goes, "You want it back?" I'm like, "Yeah." He goes, "You know this story? We tell this. We used to tell a story on the air all the time. bring me $30 um to the Ronald McDonald in front of the McDonald's on Broadway. I forgot the story. And I'm like, "Okay." He's like, "Yeah, leave me $30 and I leave your phone under Ronald McDonald's foot." And that's what happened. Under Ronald McDonald's foot. Was it there? Did you do it? 100%. You paid 30 bucks to get it back. Yes. Wow. Yeah. I mean, it was 5 minutes away. I'm not going to go to North Jersey. You would have cut the phone off. I'd be worried about the violence. I was a little But it was a public place. The guy wanted 30 bucks. He deserves a reward. You know what I mean? Oh, he was saving your phone. He wasn't the one that stole it and then held it for ransom. Well, he probably did steal it cuz I wasn't at the McDonald's on Broadway. But then he was like, "Well, what can I use to buy drugs with this phone or 30 bucks?" Right? So, he chose the 30 bucks. It's a good way to make some quick cash. By the way, EJ, I don't suggest you do it, but if you're ever low on cash, either one of you guys, steal phone, hel it for ransom. Yeah, exactly. Janice is in Hamilton says phones should be banned. Yes, they should be banned. I mean, the problem we have with today's society is kids cannot read inonation because they're texting everything. If I say, "Oh, Judy, you're so crazy. What are you calling me crazy?" No, I'm going, "Haha, you're crazy." But you can't read the inonation. And that's why people get all put out by what they hear other people say because they can't read the intonation and lunchtime. That's what the emojis for. Oh, that anybody can put one of those things on. But I'm really happy and I think you'll be happy to hear this too. Thank you Janice for calling. Uh Lauren in New Hope, PA on our app chat says, "I think the pendulum is swinging back." This is what that woman Janice said that the new thing is like wait till 8th. Um, she says, "I have kids in elementary school. Most parents I talked to all agree we want to wait as long as possible to give our children phones. We see the fallout from the generation before us that gave their kids technology so early. We're trying hard to bring back the simple life of the 70s and ' 80s. And I just want to say this, if I can say this as a old granny who learned something the hard way, my son was the first in that generation to have uh social media at that tender age. And I think in the book that I'm reading, which everybody, every parent should read it, by the way, Jonathan, oh shoot, John John height, anxious generation, he says 2010 was the sweet spot. And that is when there was no turning back. And I, you know, I'm going to tell you, it's a problem and it cannot be reversed. You're right about that. There is no turning back. That's why we have to let them have phones at one point during the course of the day and not all day long. Uhoh. That has nothing to do with that. No. No. There's no turning back. So, you have to adapt. We're not adapting if we just say you can't have the phone all day. There's no turning back once you've already poisoned your kid. So, how about just don't poison the kids? Well, it's too late. They're poisoned. Deal with the phones. They're here. They're not going anywhere. Don't have any phones in schools. And then no kid will feel pressured to have one except between classes. No, you should never. You don't need it. All right. Your phone calls coming up 11:45. Uh weather and traffic and your call net is the perfect time to tackle those home. It's the New Jersey time. Big push to ban cell phones in schools. What do you think? 1 800283101.5. Yeah. Um I think it's a great idea. I think it should be done everywhere across the whole country. What What am I going to tell you? All day. Tell the bell like your boy Murphy once. The distraction. He's my boy. He's your boy. I know that. Tell my dad now. Why do you love him so much? I love it. Uh he's done a nice job with his hair since I left. Remember I was gone for like Dennis or No, no, the the Murphy. We think that he might have stopped in Turkey to get that, you know, cuz he looked one way and then I leave the station for seven years. I come back and then he's got like uh got the broccoli hair. I think he had a little bit of a um what do you call that? What do you call that? Plugs. Yeah. Well, they don't really call it plugs now. Hair transplant. Um, also I have an important message from traffic man extraordinaire Bob Williams. Okay. Um, I think this is an important announcement. The Route 71 Shark River Bridge will be closed starting tomorrow morning until February for repairs. The 35 bridge will remain open. But oh my god, that's a pain in the neck. That's horrible. I hate it when they close bridges. And I know they do it for a reason, infrastructure and all that, but so it's so inconvenient. That sucks. So that's the Route 71 Shark River Bridge closed starting tomorrow morning until February for repairs. I mean, we want to repair it, but pain in the neck, but the 35 bridge will remain open. Thank you, Bobby. Love that man. Rich is in Peton. Oh, he was a security officer in a school. So, how does that affect your opinion on this? All right. So, as you know, I was at a high school uh here in Burlington County, and so there's different issues that can justify getting rid of the phones the entire day. One, a simple one was just they would text each other. Usually, it's this stuff involves mostly the girls, but you know, like so you're in a class and all of a sudden you send a text out to five of your friends who are in different classes and saying, "Everybody meet in the bathroom." So they, you know, so all of a sudden I got five girls in the bathroom um from all these different classes because they would coordinate with each other during these times. Then the another thing was the um say a little bit more like concerning would be if we had like a a fight that would break out in the cafeteria, they would immediately go to like spam everybody that there was a fight and these people would come running from all these different places in the school to the fight which made it harder for us to control the situation when we got everybody's friends coming to join the fight. That was the second part. The third one was um bad behavior when it's on video seems to like uh encourage the bad behavior. So if again we had a lot of this with the girls when you were going to go fight with a girl they would video it which made the fights much more brutal because I was getting my moment on you know this going to go viral. And then the last one, which was really disturbing, was you had teenage girls that would photograph or video other girls getting changed in the locker rooms either to body shame them or like you took my boyfriend. Now I'm going to show everybody you in your panties or your underwear or in the shower. This is a really good reason. You know what, EJ? I agree with you. Now you're right. These kids should have the phones cuz they're really It's important. It's very important. Rich, I I I am appalled. Thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5 cuz I didn't even think of that part of it. I was just thinking of them wasting time being distracted with their mind on this BS, right? But I forgot about the bullying, the bullying and the the crap that they're getting ideas about and just it's filth. Sorry. Well, they shouldn't have it in the locker room then. Collect it before and after the class. They shouldn't have it in the hallway either. Hall to hall. That's it. How much stuff can happen in the hallway? What do you mean? Meet me in the bathroom. Meet me in the hallway. There's no reason for it. Yeah. Well, I don't see it being I don't see the bell thing happening. I don't see it happening. It's Well, it's happened in many schools in New Jersey. Well, I don't think Murphy's going to get his wish. Cherry Hill did it. Individual districts will do it along the way. Um, do we have to break? I think we do. Okay. I was wondering if you liked my idea for noon. Oh, yeah. Crappy jobs. Yeah, but I feel like you've always been in the same bit. Like, can you even relate to this? No. Okay, it doesn't matter. Everybody Everybody's had a crappy job along had a job that they didn't like. I'm going to give you some very interesting statistics about New Jerseyians. What percentage of New Jerseyians have ever had a crappy job or think the job they're in now is crappy? I'm going to tell you that answer coming up after this. It's Judy Franco. Your New Jersey time 1210. We're having a great day today on the Judy and EJ show. I'm Judy Franco. EJ's over there. Hi. Kyle's there. We're celebrating uh Columbus Day and the hostages having come home today. That's a that's probably I'll reverse that. hostages than Columbus Day. Than Columbus. Yeah. Thank you to President Trump and to BB Netanyahu. Um just couldn't be happier today. I mean, it's not like I think we're out of the woods or we're it's the end of war. We know that's forever because it's in their blood. Uh the jihadists. But the most important thing is those people are home with their families. Yay. Yeah. It's a nice nice a nice victory and good for many many well-beings out there, right? Absolut freakingutely. But I promised you I was going to give you some interesting stats. So here I'm going to give you. How many people in New Jersey think that they are not too or not at all satisfied with their job? 20%. Believe it or not, it's much lower than that. What do you think, Kyle? How many people are not satisfied? They're not too or not at all%. It's only 12%. Which I am I am gobsmacked. I I thought like everybody in the world was like, "My job sucks. This is the worst place. My boss is mean. Doesn't everybody hate their job?" In light of what stuff we've gone through since 2020, maybe people are just happy to have a job. And then with all these layoffs going on, there was this story about like with all these layoffs in New Jersey the past couple of months. Well, I think it's really interesting that they're that that seems like most people would be happy with their jobs. So, we thought we would ask and I'm not even sure where this came from. EJ, why did I ask this question? Well, Judy, it was about seasonal jobs. They might be running scarce. 2025 could bring the lowest holiday hiring uh levels since 2009. And a lot of those holiday temporary jobs sometimes are the most challenging, right? Oh my god. You're wrapping presents in the mall. Oh, so I never had to do that, but I did work in retail. And I always say, God bless anybody who works in retail because to me that's like the wor I'd rather work in a factory. Retail was the worst. Working with the customers was the worst. But I did a couple of years do that during holiday time. Now, you're lucky, EJ. You stayed in like the same freaking career forever. Yeah. Um, and I've only been in I came late to the radio industry. I didn't get involved in the radio industry until I was already a mom. But um That's pretty cool though, right? To start something like that when you're a mom. That's great. Yeah. And look how well you've done. A Thank you. You were on in New York, but not Philadelphia. Well, the truth of the matter is I do feel very blessed, but I've had some really crappy jobs along the way. We want to talk to people. Kyle, you're in this, too. a time that you maybe the job wasn't so bad, but the company sucked, your boss sucked, the people around you sucked, your co-workers sucked, the actual job you had to do was horrible. So, when did you have a job that just you just didn't like? Maybe you worked with somebody that was smelly and you were afraid to tell them about it, but then you had no choice because they were so smelly. Can we talk about it or no? Sure, why not? I mean, that or the things that make your job crappy. You think I've got this great job, but my boss is a jerk and my co-workers are smelly. Okay, so my my dad used to say, he used to rest in peace, but he always had such good wisdom. He would say they pay you for the body a job that you don't like. He's absolutely right. I've said that myself. That's crazy. The part you like, you would do for free, right? I used to say that the part of the job that you you hate gives you the opportunity to do the part of the job that you love. So, I've said that same thing. He's right about that. And it's and it's very, very true. So that's why you'll stick it out in a job where, let's say, the boss is cheap or somebody around you smells because maybe your job is not so bad or maybe you've just had a horrible job that you want to share with us. 1 8002831015 is our phone number. So they're saying that seasonal hiring is projected to hit its lowest level since 2009. This is because of a million things, inflation, tariffs, uh government shutdown, etc., etc. you know, all all the things that Donald Trump caused cuz he's very bad person. Um, as I wrote recently, by the way, if Donald Trump or Israel cured cancer, what would people say? Uh, he didn't cure it good enough. How dare they cure cancer without asking maybe they want cancer, right? How do we know those people didn't want cancer? You're just going to take over the medical problems and like you're a king. You're gonna come up with this whole recipe to cure a disease that some people might not even be maybe some people have a death wish and they want to die of cancer. Yeah. How dare you cure cancer, right? If you're Israel or Donald Trump, anybody else would get like the Nobel. What's the prize for science? I don't know. Anyway, the peace No, that's not the science prize. What is it? There's all kinds of prizes. There's the Nobel Peace Prize. What are the prizes? The Pulitzer. That's for writing. That's for writing. Yeah. Then there's the Nobel Peace Prize. Then there's the presidential phys physical fitness award which I have. They're bringing that back, aren't they? Didn't they do away with that for a while? They're bringing it back. Yeah. I mean, for a while kids didn't have to climb ropes. Did you have to climb a rope? Oh my god. I I had to climb a rope. I had to do 10 pull-ups. I couldn't do one and run a mile in under what? Five minutes. Was that four minutes? I think it was four minutes. You had to run a mile. Can you do Can you do 10 pull-ups? I mean, I was only I used to be able to Oh my I could do three, but you couldn't get the the award unless you could do 10. Yeah. So, I did do 10 back in the day. So, I worked on it. Well, you guys are I might be able to do 10 now. We should try that. Is there a bar around here? I don't think so. I do pull-ups every week, by the way. Just got 11 last week. Very happy about that. I swear to God. Really? Why? 11 is like a a high amount. Yeah. Yeah. Well, I I I weigh more now than I used to. Like I used to be 6'2 and weigh like 160 lbs and I could do a ton of pull-ups cuz I was strong relative to my body weight. But now I weigh 195 lbs. So it's a little bit harder. Oh, is that why I was able to do it when I was in eighth grade? Could be. If you're strong, pull-ups are are just strength relative to how much you weigh. So Okay. So yeah, I was small and I was um very strong. There you go. So that's today I wouldn't even if I looked at the bar, I would get my palpitations. No way. Anyway, okay. So, uh let me tell you about my bad job. Mhm. I had to work in retail. Any of those were bad, but especially the part where you have to take the clothes that people just like throw on another rack or try on and throw on the chair that you have to go find out where it is and put it back. Oh, you have to find it, put it back on the hanger and found out find where they got it from out in the store. I mean, if you don't want to kill yourself and to this day, if I pull something off a rack in a store and then I change my mind, I go running back to find out that guy that's 100% cuz I feel so it's like people who were ever waitresses give like the biggest tips, right? Because I remember the torture of that job. So, I really will I'll try to find where I got it from. Also, my mother rings in my ear because she should rest in peace, but she had a very strong um rule. You never leave a dressing room messy. You hang up everything you brought in there. Oh, I know you guys do that. I mean, you take it out, right? And then you put it in the thing that the cart that's right out the room, I I would I wouldn't put it back on the rack out in the store, but I would I I never leave things in the dressing room. No, no, I didn't leave I didn't put them back in the in the rack in the store. I'm saying if I walked around the store with an item and then I changed my mind or something, some people just throw it on the closest rack, right? But the dressing room, some dressing rooms, you're allowed to leave the stuff in the dressing room. But even so, I would have to hang them because my mother would say, "You can't leave it lying here on a chair." Just having consideration for other people, right? But, you know, there was plenty of people walk out of that dressing, just leave crap on the floor. It's disgusting. I always think it's funny when you're in the supermarket and you see an item like, you know, peanut butter with the the vegetables. Yeah. Somebody decided they didn't eat it anymore and said, "Oh, let me put it here." Inconsiderate. I know. I know. Well, I'll have to tell you, at the checkout counter, sometimes if I decide I don't want the peanut butter. Sometimes I'll say to the checker to the whatever cashier, I'll be like, "Hi, would you mind putting this back? I change my mind." But sometimes I'm just like they're busy and I feel bad, so I just kind of like leave it there. There was a situation with bananas at Aldi last week. I went to go check out the lady. I said, "You forgot the bananas." And then and then and the banana situation, right? And so I said, "Oh, they're not mine." So then when I was done, the lady behind me said, "Oh, you forgot your banana." And on and on it went. And by the way, I think you should just be removed from this show and do your own show called the Aldi show. The Aldi because you have more awesome stories from Aldi. I mean, it is your life. Dogs and bananas. All right, we got to take a break. Lupine's on with us next 1219. Here's F. So, get this. my friend hit a talking about seasonal temporary jobs uh like wrapping packages or maybe you're the one that had to put the clothes away uh when people tried them on or you know maybe you had to clean the bathroom uh that would be the worst possible job. I only do that at home. 1800 283 101.5 that would probably be the worst job cleaning the bathroom. But when it comes to our professional jobs I I've always had I think I've had great jobs along the way. I've only had bad workers and maybe a few smelly co-workers. Oh, and the other thing that I didn't like about my job, Judy, you know, I love my job. I love radio, but the least favorite part of it is if there were like people that worked in my department that weren't getting along with each other. That really made me sad and it was hard for me to deal with that. But sometimes as a manager, you kind of have to uh, you know, mediate those situations. But I I didn't like that. We got to talk about the smelly thing, too. Yeah. Um, Lupine is in Ocean County. His worst job or a job that he didn't dig was at a fire hose testing company. How does that work? Hi. uh first. So, basically, we have this like weird uh pump setup where you hook all the lines up to the pump, get pressure off a hydrant or a uh tanker truck, and then you fill with water, pressurize the hose, then walk up and down the lines to see if there's any holes in the lines. And if there are, uh you just mark it up as a fail, and then we retag it. We have to check for uh holes uh what we call slipping the metal pieces of the hose slipping off the hose so no one gets their head taken off by that thing. And uh age, believe it or not, I've seen hose tested. That's from uh what was the year? 1974 was the oldest hose I saw get tested. And the cutoff year is 1987 according to uh the fire safety administration or whatever it's called. Um, why was that so bad? I don't get it. The the job like the job itself was good. It was technically seasonal even though we worked almost through January, but it was terrible because the company owner didn't really look out for everyone as best as he could. Mostly he kept hiring but he kept hiring people that were incarcerated at some point and they had the whole, "Oh, I'm better than you" attitude. It got to the point at one point I had to start bringing my cooler full of uh sugar drinks cuz I'm a type 1 diabetic and they kept stealing all my drinks while we're at the job site. So, let me get this straight. Let me get this straight. He He hires guys who come out of jail and then have an attitude like, "I'm better than you and then steal your drinks." Yeah. And I rep I reported this to him for about two seasons and nothing was really done besides like, "Oh, you can't do this, sir. That's not nice." I had to put a padlock on my freaking cooler. And put it this way, my blood sugar was so low, the ambulance should have been called, but it was a miracle I was conscious. My blood sugar was 12 and I was still walking around doing all my normal activities. That's very And when I sat Yeah. And when I sat down, they yell at me like, "Oh, Lupar is being lazy. He's not working." Oh, I'm sorry. I'm This is the job you Wait, Lup. This is the job that you had when we became acquainted with you. Well, I've been calling since I used to do landscaping for my father. I've been calling you guys for about 10 years or so, maybe more. I know. I know. But this is a job I This is a job I took up after my dad uh got rid of the landscaping business and now I'm working for my local township. So, right, that's even better. Oh, good for you. Well, I'm so glad to hear that you're happier now, Lupine. Thank you for calling. Somebody actually wrote in. Anybody that calls in this hour and complains that they have a bad job, but the pay is great is BS. If the pay is good, it's not a bad job in my opinion. I mean, I kind of understand that point. If the pay is good, you can overlook a lot of things. You can overlook a lot of things, right? And that's that is true. But um I don't know anybody who except for like really really well-paid billionaire million-doll bonuses a year CEOs who are under so much pressure like public companies um to make things happen. I guess that's one of the jobs you can make be making millions but it sucks, you know, but you're still not going to leave it. Yeah. Yeah, when they have those um those quarterly calls and you have to and you've had a down quarter. Imagine what that's like and then you have to spin it to make it sound like well but next time we're properly positioned to leverage our assets to maximize revenue. That's why EJ like you know we have ratings like a couple of times a year or whatever but this station has never been big on no boss that we've ever had has been big on like the ratings are down you know panicking and which is great because then they didn't make the biggest deal about when ratings were up either you know they understand we're humans and there's the human factor right and there's a lot of external factors that of course that that affect us too I mean obviously if if there was this huge news story if this storm that we had over the weekend would have been another Sandy you know, numbers are up, you know, in a slow news cycle, they might be down, but you know, but in New York City was a completely different story. Like every day you're watching the ratings because there's a thousand here. We have no competition. Nobody can touch us. You know what I mean? Um, we do something nobody else does and we do it better than everybody else, blah blah blah. But in New York, you know, that pie has a zillion little slices taken out of it. So you go down, you know, a quarter of a point. They're like, "What are you doing?" I'm like, "All I'm doing is pushing buttons and saying, "Here comes another 10 of your favorite song." Right. Yeah. Like I was saying before, it wasn't never that, you know, you always wanted to perform well, but again, employees not getting along with each other that you need to work with or if the lawyer ever sent us a letter. Oh my god. Oh, I I would lose sleep over that. So So coming up, EJ's going to tell us about the smelly employee that he had to with 12:30. Now your worst jobs are the worst part of your job. Coming up after those are harmless. Think again. They could be quietly. Bunch of things to celebrate today, right? Free the hostage Monday. We have the um Columbus Day and we also have a noraster which I don't know if we should celebrate that, but that's what's happening today on the Judy and EJ show. And we're talking about your crappy jobs at 1800283101.5. Yeah. Let's go to uh Oh, apphat. Let's go to the apphat. Our app chat. Um, well, this is not really true. If there were no illegal immigrants, there would be plenty of jobs for New Jersey citizens. I I will never believe that. I'm, you know, and I'm one of these people who's like very strong about having a strong border. Feel very strong about that. Yes. Um, but I know they're forget about even Gen Z who would never do any of those jobs, right? In general, most people don't want to work. Yeah. the jobs that the illegal immigrants have are the jobs that white people don't want to do. Yeah, exactly. No, you're 100% right. Um, but everybody has an issue. Not everybody, but a lot of people have issues with their jobs. I just want to read you a little bit more of those statistics where I don't know what happened to them, but anyway, um, it turns out that people are pretty satisfied with their jobs here in New Jersey. Only 12% of New Jerseyians say that there's anything wrong with the job they have, people are fairly happy with the job. But even if you think your job is great, there are things about it that are annoying. Like your dad said, you have to do the crappy part of your job to enjoy the parts of your job that you love. Right. Well, no, that was your love. But your dad didn't say it that way. But we agreed that what% tell me what your dad said. Well, same thing. Yeah. Right. Basically, he said he said you get you get the opportunity to do the part of the job that you love for doing the part of your job that you hate basically. Right. Right. Exactly. And I've had a few of that over the years like I when people don't get along that bothers me if there's legal issues that pop up. Budgeting. I always hated budgeting but you know I love working with the talk do that. Yeah. Yeah. But I love talk working you know with the talk show host. I love scheduling the music on the weekends and just coming up with the sound of a station. I love that part of it. But sometimes you have to talk to an employee about not behaving properly or not smelling the right way, you know. Okay. So now when I I'm not going to say whether or not I was there for this part of your what you're about to talk about. You weren't here. I don't think you were here, but I I don't know if you experienced the stuff. I was not affected by it. Yeah. Well, now you're going to narrow it down, so don't be too specific. I'm not. Okay. Tell us what happened. Um, there were a few employees in the building that talked about this other employee that might have had an unpleasant odor about them. Did you know it, too? I hadn't picked up on it because we worked different hours. So, the people working during those hours brought it up to me and put it back on me as the department head to speak with that employee about the foul odor, the smell. So, you know, that's in a weird conversation. Like, I could talk to you about Judy, you're talking too much. Let Dennis talk more or whatever it might be. You know what I mean? That stuff is fine. Um, you never told me I smelled all those years. You would ask me if you smelled though. You were always, "Do I smell? Do I smell?" No, Judy, you do not smell. But this, this person did. So, brought them in to my office and I said, um, I have to talk to you about this very delicate situation that there are people in the building that have noticed that when they're around you that there is a smell. And if there was one person that told told me about it, I we wouldn't be having this conversation. But multiple people told me about this and I was still wasn't picking up on the smell. Well, that person told me that they were dealing with a problem, you know. So, so they knew. Get the They knew, but maybe they thought that they had hid it in a way where the smell wasn't emanating, right? But it was emanating. And so, I had to have that conversation. This person said that they would put some they're going to get an operation for this thing and Oh, wow. and and we'll work in the meantime on masking have their anus removed maybe masking a smell. So again, that's one part of my job that I I didn't like. So I cannot even I mean I know that Did you ever talk to anybody about smelling? Like when your kids before they wore deodorant, do you have to talk to them about it? Yeah. Yeah, but that's your kid. I could be like, "Oh my god." I'd get I pick up a bunch of boys after school. Oh. And I'd be like, "You guys I turn around, you guys all stink." But I think in this day and age, yeah, you might not be able to do that. But I told my kids, my boy, I mean, you know, Yeah. my boys, like every other boy, they were sweaty. Yeah. It's funny with middle school kids, too, because they probably won't shower. Like in high school, they probably shower after gym class, but middle school, maybe they run around a little bit, play a little basketball, they don't shower. And then you always have to feel bad for that those teachers in the afternoon after the uh after gym class. We had to shower. We had Did you shower in gym class, Kyle? No. Okay. Is this not a thing? In high school we did but okay seventh grade, sixth grade and seventh grade. Crocker Junior High School, William H. Crocker Junior High middle school it turned into I had to shower in a public shower with a bunch of girls and it was like no walls or stalls or anything like that. It was Yeah, that's how it was at our school. It was just one big room and a bunch of naked people in there showering. Was more and I went home and I told my mother and even my mother was like what? But I guess that's what public schools did back then. I don't think any of them do this anymore, right? No, we did not do that. And and okay, by the way, re realize that in sixth and seventh grade is when a lot of girls look differently from each other. Oh, right. Some girls look like little girls and some girls look like women. And I was not one of those. I was one of those that looked like a little girl. And it was the most horrible experience of my entire life. Yeah. I used to do anything I could to get out of gym. My mother would write me a note, whatever. And that here's the worst part. They would check to make sure your hair was wet cuz if you weren't wet, you didn't go in. How scary is that? That is pretty scary. Yeah, it's weird. Very, very weird. Yeah. I in high school they had the one common shower room but there was a gym I went to in the late 80s in Balakinwood Pennsylvania and I and it was just one big open shower room and I went in a shower after I worked out. Guess who was in there showering? Who? Charles Barkley. You liar. I saw Charles Barkley naked. I can't believe it. Is that funny? That it's hysterical. I had so many questions. We'll wait until All I know there's nothing to say. All I did was shower and leave. But Charles Barkley happened to be there naked taking a shower and I didn't you know don't ask me the obvious question cuz I don't have the answer. I wasn't I was not looking there. I don't believe it. This is upsetting. You get one chance to see him naked and I'm not going to look at that. You Well, I'm not I don't look at those things. I can't believe it. That's so funny. All right. 1 80028310. You mean Charles Barkley, not Narles Barkley, right? Oh, that's two dudes. Narles Barkley's two guys, right? 1 800283101.5. Judy and EJ show will continue and your phone calls next. Judy Franco. So, how's your back? It's the New Jersey time. The Judy and EJ show from New Jersey 101.5. It's Columbus Day, Judy. Uh, what were the name of Columbus's three ships? Are you asking me that? Yeah. What were Columbus's three ships? Do you remember that from school? I believe they were called the Kyle, do you know this? The Santa Maria. That's one of them. The Nina. That's two. That's who the pins that Yes, that's right. Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. Here's what's interesting. I'm shocked that they even taught that to Kyle. Like I I thought that was like Oh, yeah. He was there during when it changed over. Some people call today the indigenous day, right? Um and then but it says Columbus Day on my calendar here. Mine says both. Mine says uh Yeah. Okay. I went to school like just slightly before that, you know, like I I before they might have maybe not taught you about it before things got crazy. They may still teach you about it. I don't know. But when I was in school, it was just like slightly before whatever people perceive today as, you know, he was a great Italian explorer. And in this house, we always uh celebrate. He was a brave Italian explorer. Yeah. Even though Dennis swears he was not Italian. He was a Spartic Jew. Well, my my wife says that. My wife said that he's Jewish. I think he's Italian. I mean, it really it makes sense. I mean, there were so many people who were Jewish who then weren't allowed to be Jewish anymore back then. So, it would be hard to even say you had to hide it, I guess, for your safety. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Anyway, let's go to Dawn. And you guys, you know, Dawn, believe it or not, has had many bad jobs from two days to two years. What's up, Don? Hello, Don. Good morning. I you know, so I do I had one for two days. Um, it was a waitress and the boss was a very like very slimy Stevie guy who like immediately the second day I was working was like, "That shirt's not tight enough." I was like, "All right, I'm I'm done. Like, I need to just go somewhere else. I'm not doing that." Um, and then I had one that I just stayed at just because I, you know, could not admit defeat or could not admit that, you know, I was going to quit it. But I always joke with people because they say, "Well, what is your longest running job that you had? like what's your most rewarding? What's your most one that you question? And I said it would probably be being a wife and being a mother. Those two rewarding plus I question my insanity every day with that. And my kids are always like, "We're the, you know, we're the best thing that ever happened to you." And I said, "All right, today you are. Tomorrow that could be a whole different story." So that's I always run with people and say that's my longest job that I've had is being a wife and being a mother. And it's a lot of fun. Like I said, there are some jobs where um like I said the to the one I just wouldn't quit and then the other it was a you know like I literally I said to the guy I said I'm done. And he's like you can't just walk out. I said yes I can. I said you are sexually harassing at this point. He goes well you know he goes that's how you're going to get tips. And I said that's not what I'm going to do. I'm not going to compromise my morals and my values for tips. Like as a we I would probably would wear a tighter shirt for tips. I'm not going to say it. I was going to say something that would have been wrong. I'm not going to say it. Here's the thing. I pro Okay, maybe not a tighter shirt, but if you're going to get more tips because you look more attractive, wouldn't you put on like makeup to get better tips or no? So, I will tell you I did work as a waitress for six years because it allowed me to work while my kids were in school and it allowed me to do other things. And I will tell you, it's not always about wearing makeup. It's not always about the tight shirt. It's if you can get the orders right, if you are friendly, if you're fast, if you know your stuff, that's what people want. Because I'll tell you, I tell people all the time, if I sit down and the waitress is honest with me and say, "You don't want that. It's not that good." Great. you're getting an even bigger tip because you were honest with me and didn't let me eat something that I was going to regret. So, all right. Thank you, Donna. We so appreciate your calling the show. I'm just saying I do think the prettier you are sometimes the better tips you can get. That's all I'm saying. And my wife worked at a bar and I remember they would have all the cocktail waiters to wear shorts. I mean, obviously it's not because it's hot in there cuz it's January. Yeah. If that's part of it and you bring home a few extra dollars, what's the big deal? No big deal. 12:55 on the Judy and EJ show. Uh, coming up we do have an interesting question for you. Should I ask it? Go right ahead. Judy, do you know who you're vote who you are going to vote for for governor? No. Kyle, do you? No. I'm in that one third in the middle. It's like you're on the in the middle of the seessaw and you're going back and forth and you know some things I hear is why I shouldn't vote for that guy and then I think why shouldn't I vote for that lady? And I see them all being mean to each other, talking about killing people, and oh, it's it's outrageous, Judy. All right. You're going to you're not going to believe the statistic about how many people are still undecided about the governor's race, but we want to hear from you. Do you know what you're doing yet? Are you still in that percentage that doesn't know yet? 1 800 2831015. It's coming up after 1:00. Judy and EJ, stay with us. Ready to turn your idle equipment into cash? Hey, Jersey Time is 1. It's the Judy and EJ show. I'm Judy Franco. EJ's over there, Eric Johnson. Kyle Forscini's on the Buttons and Knobs. We were just talking about something off the air that I just have to mention really quickly and then we're going to get into our topic, which is, believe it or not, there are still people who are undecided in the gubanatorial election. And I'm going to give you some statistics on that in a minute. Okay? But first, I have to just tell you one day we got to do a topic about this. You ready? Yep. Okay. There's somebody very few people that I dislike in this whole entire world. Very, very few. But there's one person you and I were just talking about who was like for no reason at all, just randomly like mean to me, did not like me. And even if you don't like me, you don't have to like me, but you don't have to be like very cruel in public, embarrass me, and purposely just abuse me. Yeah. Okay. So, this person did that. And this same person also did it to servers in restaurants, which is horrible. So, I would never wish anything bad on anybody because I always feel like karma's, you know, God, karma, whatever. God is go these people going to have to all answer to God, right? But so I never said, "Oh, God, I wish that guy would get nothing. God forbid. I would never wish anything bad on somebody." But if the bad thing happened to happen to the person, I'm not sad about it situation. So you told me off the air that this person now maybe had run into some bad luck. And I feel like a horrible person, but I wasn't sad about it. So, one day, EJ, we have to do just desserts. When somebody did something to you, right, and then karma came around for them. Are you a bad person? Cuz you were kind of happy about it. Yeah. Well, listen, it's always going to happen because insta karma is going to get you. I have heard that. It's going to knock you where? It's going to knock you flat on your What? Wait, I'm trying to remember. What is it? But pretty soon you're gonna be dead. That's a John Lennin song, right? I think Kyle's looking for it. Ah, here we go. This goes out to that aforementioned person. [Music] Oh, that we work with. Oh, wait. This is not good. Better get it together because Oh, uhoh. This is a great song. But it's true cuz we are going to be dead. Yeah. So, you know, be nice to people. Come on, people. Live the golden rule. Treat others the way you want to be treated. Do unto others as they would do unto you. It's up to you. Yeah. Yeah. You come on. Somebody just wrote somebody that we work with just wrote, "Who doesn't like you?" Four question marks. It's a secret. That's very um flattering because this person thinks, "How is it possible somebody could not like me?" But now I just texted back who it is. Okay. And I'm waiting for her to answer because I know she's going to say, "Oh." Anyway, um, but that's not the topic. The topic, we want to talk about the governor's race. For some reason, we don't want to. No, listen. We've been put we've been putting it off, but one of the u foundation pillars of this radio station is talking about the governor's race and we're less than a month away. It's like two or three weeks away. Okay. Who's the pill? Uh, one of the pillars, one of the pillars of this radio station is talking about Jersey politics and and the governor's race. I don't think that there are very many people listening to us now who don't know what they're doing, right? But I would love to speak to undecided people. I would also like to speak to people who are decided. What is the percentage in your opinion of people in New Jersey likely voters who are still undecided? Yeah. I you know what I would like to do is have people call to convince us just tell us if I know you're decided, I'm undecided, let's say, and if you needed to to sway me to vote in either direction, what would you say? Uh would you would have anything to do with the issues, which we haven't heard too much about, right, Judy? I mean, uh, uh, Mikey said that she would cap the energy bills, and, uh, the Republican candidate said that he would cap property taxes based on a percentage of the value of your home. But beyond that, how are they going to do that? All I know is that one is saying one didn't walk in their graduation ceremony, and the other is saying that you created an app that got people addicted to heroin. I mean, and now Yeah. And now, I mean, the truth is it's very very it's a very slippery slope to call somebody a killer or say somebody killed somebody. And I've seen this a few times now on Instagram where, you know, people sit there and listen to somebody else cyberbully them or talk about them and then all of a sudden they'll say something like, "He doesn't care that he killed people, whatever." And I'm like, "Dude, that is like a really scary accusation to make. like you're going to get sued for defamation, right? Um unless that person was convicted of stabbing somebody, you know what I mean? So, I don't know how people are still so stupid that they say that publicly. I think we were expecting the Chidarelli camp to uh launch that lawsuit today. Um I I haven't seen any story about that, but that was the uh intelligence that we had received last week that he was going to sue her uh for saying that an app that he created led to people being addicted to heroin. We didn't get that. We didn't get that. I mean, I I I don't think Or we just heard that it was. No, no. I heard last week that by early this week that they were going to launch this lawsuit, which had I haven't heard it happen yet today, but then again, today's kind of a holiday, so maybe it's not. What's today? It's Columbus Day. Oh, true. Okay. Because I don't know why I could have sworn they launched it, but maybe I'm just thinking of Hold on. Social media Molly the border collie. This No, no, I don't think it's happened yet. I think that it was talked it was threatened to happen. Are you positive they didn't do it yet? I've seen no story where that that it it says it says Chidarelli to sue over defam uh defamatory debate comment. Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Chitterelli says that he will file a lawsuit against Democratic opponent Mikey Cheryl over her defamatory debate comments that he killed tens of thousands of people including children because of a medical publishing company that he once owned. I have not seen that's been done yet, though. No. And you can't say that. I mean, come on. You can't say that somebody killed people anyway. But then his response in that was, "Well, at least I walked at my graduation." He could have had a much better response. Yeah. And he could have said, "Well, no, I didn't do that, you know, or or something." I maybe he was just so shocked by the accusation that he didn't know how to respond. Well, I'm watching commercials now where they go, she's being interviewed on a radio show and they're like, "Well, it says you won, you made $7 million in this investment. Is that true?" And she's like, "Um, well, we made I know we made some money." And then Chitterelli cuts in. He goes, "Come on, you made $7 million. You know you did, right? You can't help." And I was like, she's not good at thinking on the fly at all. Anyway, um, what percentage of New Jerseyians are still undecided? What say you, Kyle? Uh, a small percentage. I'll go 12 12%. How much? 12. Well, you're you're saying the PE you're asking for the percentage of people that are still undecided. Yeah. I will say you said 12% undecided. I'll say 33 and a third. It's actually 11%. Really? It's only 11% undecided. I thought it was a third of the vote was undecided. Think, well, I guess things have closed now. I'm shocked that anybody in New Jersey is undecided. New Jersey is the most dedicated to its platform and to its to its candidate and to its uh party I've ever state I've ever seen in my life. Right. We are dieh hard whatever we are. Yeah. How could there be anybody wishy-washy at this point? But there are. Well, and then there's that Fox poll that came out last week that had uh Mikey Sher leading by like eight points. And but then we heard a story too about how uh registrations for new Democratic Democrat voters is way down, new registrations. So, but there's still many more Democrats registered than Republicans, right? So, well, it also says there was a Quinnipic poll. First poll was I mean you know you choose which poll you trust. Another poll from Quinnipiac or as I have heard recently Quinnip Quinnipiac Quinnipiac um 4% were undecided or did not give a response in the same rate. That's what I really think is more I think that that is more logical for New Jersey. Um so what do you think? 1 8002831015 is our phone number. Um, do you know anybody who's still undecided? Are you undecided? Or we want to just take a general Judy and EJ poll to see who's winning? Yeah. And I know we usually do fun light kind of stuff, but I just wanted to take an hour and take the temperature and I want to hear people's responses. Like who if you had to convince me who to vote for, what would you say? 1800 283101.51 120. Uh-oh. Here's Fastrack. Detective, I've solved many mysteries, but Tom Judy and EJ show New Jersey 101.5 for Columbus Day. uh big issues in this election has hasn't changed too much except maybe energy energy costs much higher on the list than it has been in previous gubernatorial elections, but property taxes uh energy costs. Mikey Sher says she's going to cap energy bills on day one. Jack says he's going to cap property taxes based on a percentage of the value of your home. Who are you voting for? 1800 283101.5. And if you believe either one of those people, then I have a bridge to sell you. Let's go to Marie in Somerdale. Hi. Uh, talk to us, Marie. We're trying to take a little poll here. Hi. Yes. How are you guys? We're good. Good. I believe Chidarelli is going to win only because Cheryl is saying the same exact thing on her commercials that Murphy said for years, and that is they want everything to be solar. And if you do the right thing, you'll pay more, but if you're a decent person, you'll do more. That's exactly what Murphy's commercial was and that's exactly what Cheryl's running on. Nobody wants to have mandated go solar because you got to pay a lot of money. It's not free for everybody to be installed anymore. That's her way of bringing the cost of energy down. Right. Well, I I have to tell you, and I think it's really important for people to realize, nothing that they say is actually going to happen, right? So, I don't even listen to what she says she's going to do day one and what he's going to do because they can only do what the party allows them to do, right? And does the governor really have the power on their own to make that change as a single entity? Right? I mean can he say okay taxes are this energy bills are that and but that's got to go through the whole thing right that is why you know as much as Chris Christie started out as having really having the right idea as a moderate Republican in New Jersey by the end of it when he couldn't accomplish anything because his hands were so tied by the Democratic legislature he basically said to us I don't have a magic wand I can't make things happen on my own So Marie, thank you so much for calling. I hope people really really understand neither of these people can lower property taxes. Um because they would need to do something that they're not willing to do and it has to do with education in the state and I'm tired of saying it. So whatever. Um certainly not a Democrat because she's, you know, the all the whole union is going to tell everybody the teachers union is going to tell all of their members uh to only vote for her. So, she can't lower the cost of our property taxes because it's all tied in with the education funding formula. By the way, I just found out I used to say Asbury Park High School, which is a former AVID district, right, has the highest cost per educating of people in the state. I think Newark might be one ahead of them. And then Asbury Park, Asbury Park just raised their taxes. Oh, wow. And now the cost for educating a pupil is 30 grand. 30,000. And you know how many of those kids actually graduate? You know how many of those kids can read? You know how many go look at some of the statistics. So if you think throwing money at a problem, especially at our education system, is any in any way, shape, or form helping kids learn, you're wrong. But nobody has the balls to do what they need to do to lower property taxes. And that is get the education system out of your property taxes. Period. Give everybody a check for their school. Let them spend it where they want to. Can you remember a time when Jersey property taxes were ever reduced? I mean, no. I mean, they all promised it. They send you We did a silly game a couple of weeks ago and we asked about the governors and I know there was a fact about Tom Kaine and he was governor like in the 80s or 90s or something like that. He he, you know, he he was able to do it to a certain extent, but then after Florio came in, the wheels were off. You can't Yeah. And also, even if you're not a Democrat and the New Jersey Education Association did not actually put you in office, you can't go against them. They're like the mob. Yeah. All right, let's go to um Jan and Rockaway. She's voting for Jack. Also, you don't You're also saying not many people are undecided. Do you know anybody who's undecided? Um, I don't. I I honestly don't, but I'm from Mars County. We're all Republican. It's big Republican area up here. Sussex County, Mars County. Um, but I like him because I think he's polished. I I believe he has a CPA. He's gone to um finished school with a a CPA. Um, I like the fact that he he is in politics. He's been in politics for 10 years, so he's not going to get that many surprises. And I would never ever vote um for a Democrat after all that Trump has gone through and what we see now. I would I I just wouldn't even vote. Um so I he I think he might win. I hope he wins. Um I like the fact that he doesn't walk around angry and confused and you know, I just like everything about him and All right. Glad to hear that. You know, we'll see. We'll see what happens. Good luck. Thank you. I I am not that impressed by him, but obviously I have to vote for him. He looks good in that white shirt, though. He looks good in the white shirt. He's handsome. I'll give him that. Got a nice haircut. Nice haircut. Selling your car shouldn't be a hassle. So, Jack Chidurelli upset about the defamatory statement made by Mikey Shur last week and he keeps bringing up that she didn't walk at her graduation. I don't think any of these things are going to affect the election at all. Do you think? cares, right? I don't think it's but I don't even think you know people were saying it was such a big deal that whole controversy about she didn't tell on her co- comrades whatever co what did we call them is that what they call coid shipment cadetses I don't know but um yeah that was like such a nothing burger and his thing could be a big deal if it were true that's why you just can't call somebody a killer don't people know that are you insane well you know desperation I suppose I guess so. 1 8002831015 is our number. Um, so we know that there is a small percentage of New Jerseyians who still are not sure about who they want to vote for. So, as EJ said, if he were undecided right now, yes, tell us who to vote for. Talk us into it. John in East Brunswick is voting for Jack. Tell us why. Why? What's happening, guys? How are you today? Hey, John. Good. We're good. We're good. All right. So, yeah, I although I am a Republican and I've thought about it a little bit going on, I want to see what both side brought to the table. Um the one thing that the reason I'm going to vote for Jack Cerelli, he's the only one out of out of two of them who say, "I'm going to reduce your taxes. I'm going to reduce taxes." Okay, great. Everybody always says that and then you know it doesn't happen. You know that. But he was the out of the two of them, he was the one that said, "Look at your school. look at your your taxes. What's happening here? I'm going to speak to the school people because um I live in a town where 64% of my taxes go to the schools, you know, and people complain is like the township runs on 35%. Here, he was he's been the only one that said, "This is how I'm going to do it. I I I need to go speak to the New Jersey teachers like we need to figure out what it is and reduce these school taxes." Um I'm I'm in that zone where I took advantage of the schools in my area. Uh but you know at this point in time the kids are well out of school and so on to be paying that amount of taxes is it probably if you're going to stay in that town it probably should be reduced after you use the system. He's the only one that said that. Uh I think there's well listen if there were anybody that could do something about it would be him because as I mentioned before the Democrats are too beholden to the teachers union to be able to do anything about it. But um Exactly. He doesn't he nobody really knows how to do it. First of all, without getting really into the weeds, 613 or 616 school districts we have, there's no other state in the union that does that. And there are some school districts that have no schools, right? But they administration. I grew up in a town and then every one of those districts has like five assistant principles. I mean, it's insane. Yeah, I grew up in a town in California, pretty big town in San Francisco, and it was the San Mateo County School District. One district had maybe 50 schools. Here you have a district, one school maybe, as you mentioned, EJ, no schools, and we're still giving them money. It's crazy. John, thank you so much for calling New Jersey. What I want schools should take the tips that business do. business have might have, you know, one person responsible for five different plants where it used to be five managers for five plants. That's right. Right. So, if if the private sector can do it, why can't education? They can be a lean mean education machine. Don't make me pay 30 grand in Asbury Park to 12 assistant principles, 14 uh what do they call those people tell you what to do about college? guidance counselor, right? Give me a break. Nobody's guiding those kids. I think the uh the Mammoth County School District has a nice ring to it. Absolutely. Absolutely. Rich is in Union County and he's doing the Jack thing. Hi. Yeah. Well, yeah, because obviously the school taxes are a big issue. You know, uh Murphy was no charm to the Republican districts. He gutted complete Tom's River uh funding. Uh Christy was no charm either. He was actually Christy, believe it or not, Governor Christie was the one that took the budgets out of the people's hands. I don't know if you remember in 201213, you were still able to vote on school budgets. He got rid of that. So I I don't I don't know. If I remember though, Rich, he did that as a concession because he was trying because he was taking the pension and and messing with it. Yes. But then he put a 2% cap on school boards. But the the 2% cap it falls on pencils. Everything else is open, too. So, long story short, uh the the school funding is is a big issue. Murphy gives everything to the Abbott school districts and the then and the pet Abbott school districts. Meanwhile, gutting the communities uh to my Tom's River taxes in in three years went up over $3,000. Wow. Specifically specifically for the schools. So, I I listen I it's it's absolutely insane. No children in a school system, never used it. I don't know what the answer is. They just gave the superintendent a raise. Now he's going to be making $300. I mean, you just said what the answer is. That is the answer. The answer is you you give everybody who wants to put kids in school a check. You won't get the check, Rich, because you didn't put kids in school. I'll get the check for the years I need it. Then when I'm done, no more check. And guess what? immediately take $8,700 a year out of my property taxes. You think that's ever going to happen? No, of course it's not going to happen in this state. You just said, "What's the answer?" I'll tell you what the answer is. It's never going to happen here. Of course not. So, ba So, basically, you convince me I'm not going to be voting uh in November. So, I mean, honestly, it's I would like to not vote also, Rich. Except, you know, there's just one is a tiny bit worse than the other. Rich, thank you for calling 1.5. There is one problem with having a paid off home. You you truly realize and you feel the pain of how high your property taxes because if it's in your mortgage, you're like de not conditioned. You're conditioned because it's all getting spread out. Then the house is paid off. You get this $8,000 bill. Woo! Right. Oh my god. All right. Um, Bob and Jeremiah both have interesting comments for me. And Jeremiah, who's 34, you're going to want to hear this. He's not a bullfrog. I think a lot He's not, but I think a lot of people have this opinion. Maybe he is a bullfrog. We don't know. We haven't spoken to him. Okay, we'll find out. Jeremiah will find out that next coming up after this. 144. What am I saying? I don't know. Ladies, October is 151 Columbus Day on the Judy and EJ Show. New Jersey 101.5. Who you voting for? Let us know. 1800283101.5. Uh, let's go to Bob in Yuwing. Has to vote for Mikey Cheryl. Not that there was any doubt in my mind that you were going to do that, Bob, but I think you told us why last week. Why is it again? Uh, I am not a fan of your boy Donald Trump. And right, I am quite sure that if he put a Republican governor in charge at 2028, he would do anything in his power, legally or illegally, like he just did. He just did something illegal to Mikey Cheryl to put Donald Trump back in office. And to me, that's just, you know, what did he do? Wait, who who was it that did something illegal to Mikey? I missed it. um the uh recent incident where she was exposed her naval record for not walking with her class, right? The Trump administration handed him that. They went into her records. Oh, he did that. That illegally. Yeah. They were not supposed to. Yes, he did that. Okay. Um he went they they went right up the top of the ladder. They said, "We want to see your naval records. We'll try to get anything we can on her." It wasn't legal, but he should be being caught up. I mean, I Bob, if you have any time and and I'm not going to argue with this because this is not what I want to do with you, but let I can give you a list of papers um that Democrats obtained illegally um to try to mess with other people. Okay. And they should be brought up on charges, too. 100%. First and foremost, your girl uh Hillary Clinton going back a couple of years. Um but you know, Bob, I have to tell you, I understand like I would never vote for Mikey Cheryl just cuz I can't. It's not in me to vote for a Democrat, but um I understand people's lack of enthusiasm for either party. So, I can't even say uh how could you not vote for Chidarella because I have no enthusiasm for him or for the other lady. They're both to me horrible choices. What are you going to do? Yeah, myself also. I don't know if there is a good choice. They're all tied in these two parties and is what it is. Thanks, Bob. All right. Thank you so much. Um, what they they went through Donald Trump's garage because they thought that, hey, that he uh had papers he shouldn't have had from the White House. Um, and they illegally obtained a search warrant for that because, you know, there are lots of hoops you have to jump through to get a search warrant. Yes. If you just go to somebody and say, "We want to get this guy, so can you give us a search warrant?" That's illegal. But the same thing happened with Biden, too, when they went after papers he had. Of course. and Hillary. I mean, don't even start with uh illegal papers that that not only that she shredded that emails that were that were gone and disappeared. I mean, you don't know there's not a politician in this entire world in the past. I shouldn't say in the in this entire world, there's probably not a presidential election in the past since I have been voting where there were not papers obtained illegally. Do we have time for Jeremiah? We're running out of time. I don't know. Is he a bullfrog? Go Jeremiah. Jeremiah, are you are you a bullfrog? I used to be. I'll be very fast since you're since you're running low on time. I'm just listening that uh you guys you're talking about like the corruption of all these people, which is like from the highest levels all the way to, you know, the two running for the governor. That's politics. Yeah. Somebody was mentioning before like how many people promise to bring your taxes down and then it never does. Like why are we still voting? What's the like we we keep being fooled by this process two-party system uh you know like the FBI director is now uh or James Comey is now charged with you know what whatever he's going with. You're talking about Hillary Clinton. You're talking about all these people like the corruption is so deep like withdraw from this. So you're talking about like a voter who doesn't know who they're voting for. They haven't been paying attention but uh or they're listen I'm disenchanted also Jeremiah but this is all we got Judy life is all a show system we got life is all a show.
