Halloween is not just about costumes; it's also a celebration of sweet treats that spark joy, nostalgia, and often, friendly debates. A recent discussion prompted by a candy survey from New Jersey's most favorite Halloween treats has unearthed some surprising favorites, raising eyebrows and spurring conversations among candy lovers. While traditional favorites like Snickers and M&M's always maintain strong footing, some peculiar contenders have made the list, marking a curious shift in what people consider "Halloween candy."

One standout was Oreos, which left many scratching their heads. Are they even candy? Sure, they might be a delicious treat for many, but when it comes to candies during Halloween, cookies tend to land outside the norm. Similarly, Lindor truffles made their way into the mix, although their refined taste suggests that they belong to the world of gourmet chocolates rather than classic Halloween fare.

Classic Candy Conversations

This got the hosts and callers reminiscing about their personal favorites, resulting in a lively exchange filled with opinions and judgments. Favorites like Haribo gummy bears and Charleston Chews were given a thumbs up, while old-school candy cigarettes, often nostalgic but rarely craved, sparked plenty of nostalgia.

As autumn settles in and Halloween approaches, it's time to revisit those memories of trick-or-treating joy. What does Halloween mean without sweet treats? It's a tradition that brings communities together and often draws laughter over candy preferences.

Bringing Back the Best (and Worst) Treats

Many people have a sweet spot for the colorful boxes of chewy candy, but the preference for certain candies often raises debate. For instance, while some cherish the crunchy joy of a Crunch Bar or the creamy indulgence of a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup, others might find themselves gravitating toward the lesser-loved treats.

This brings us to the ultimate question: What's your favorite Halloween candy? Do you side with the timeless classics, or do you harbor a love for the less typical choices? Are there specific candies that hold a place in your heart or that you can't stand? Is it possible to fall in love with the quirky combinations and peculiar assortments that surface during the Halloween season?

Join the Candy Debate!

As Halloween approaches, the call is out for candy lovers to weigh in on their favorite and least favorite candies. Whether it’s the reliable chocolate bars or the quirky, novelty candies—each holds a unique story. So what's on your sweet tooth this season? Call in and share your thoughts, and let the candy debates reign! Will something unexpected earn a smile, or will a classic favorite reign supreme?

Celebrate the sweet season by sharing those candies that fill you with joy and bring a bit of laughter to the conversations that surround Halloween. After all, candy isn't just sugar; it's a source of memories that bind us together in this whimsical celebration!

Who would have thought hell would really exist and that it would be in New Jersey. Screaming at people at gas stations is a New Jersey tradition. From Caucus New Jersey, it's everybody's favorite game show. There's nothing in the world like action park. The north calls this a sub while the south calls it a hogy. The north calls this Taylor ham and the south calls it pork roll. Hey, you talking about Jersey? Me and my friends are from Jersey. Oh crap, there's more of them. Hey, come on. There's people from Jersey all over. Who here is from Jersey? You know the party who needs a house to pack for [Music] walking home every day over a good bridge cuz down the shore everything's all right. The sun shines brightly on a Jersey afternoon. their weekends on the Jersey Shore. What do you hear? What do you say? Live from New Jersey. It's Dominsky and more on New Jersey 101.5. When do you guys agree that a weekend needs to be more like 4 weeks long? Just saying. Wouldn't you? Yeah. Wouldn't you agree with that? At least four days. I think I think that's universal. Hey, good afternoon. We are Daminsky and more. I'm Jeff Deinsky. I'm Kylie Moore. Ah, guess what we still have going on? Yes, we still have the $1,000 at work paydays happening. But this week, one of the days instead of $1,000, it's going to go all the way to $10,000. More about that later. But your next code coming up that you have to enter, it's easy. Just listen for it. It's a threedigit code. If you can't remember three numbers, then God help you. Uh but that is coming up in about it's going to be about 10 minutes or under. So don't go anywhere for that. Uh we will have that coming up for you. So our phone number is 1 800 283101.5. We have a lot to get to today. You know, I thought about you because I saw this national story and it never mentions New Jersey. We'll talk about this later, but it was about how many states and cities and even entire counties are starting to ban gas powered leaf blowers. And there has been a push in the New Jersey legislature to do exactly that statewide eventually. Uh but so far it's, you know, languishing in Trenton. But um I know that you're not a fan of them. I know that you're not a fan of the noise. You uh I think you're more against the noise than the pollution. Oh, I become the Grinch. Isn't that one of the lines in the animated cartoon? The the noise. The noise. All the noise noise. Right. For you, it's all about the noise. But uh yeah, for me it's the practicality of it. I would not be in favor of this. I feel like you probably still would be, but we'll talk about this later on. That's one of the uh Jersey things we're going to be talking about. Also, pork roll gate. Oh. Oh, we'll get into this later on. This was controversial. Yeah. Um for reasons you might not expect. Jack Cheddarelli is, we'll talk about it later, but Jack Chedarelli running for governor on the Republican side. He posted something trying to make an issue about his Democratic opponent, Mikey Cheryl. He's trying to say that she doesn't like pork roll. And it's not what she said. They used an edited version of the audio to make it appear as if she is just anti- pork roll. That's not at all what she said. But he posts this or his campaign, somebody did on social media basically saying, "Say that you're from New uh wait right. Say that you're not from New Jersey without saying that you're not from New Jersey and it posts only half the audio. We'll play you what she actually said. All this is is that she calls it Taylor Ham and not pork roll. That's all. It's not that she doesn't like it. She was asked in an interview what she calls it. That's all this was. And they know that. They saw it. Someone had to edit it. Yeah. Exactly. So, they selectively picked only half of the audio just trying to make her seem like more of an outsider. I mean, she is she was from, I believe, uh, Virginia. I'm not saying that, you know, that she was born and raised here. She was not. But, I mean, come on. Come on. Is this how silly we're getting now, but yeah, we're going to have a whole uh Pork Roll Taylor Ham debate later on in the show. All right. So, in the meantime, our phone number is 1800 283101.5. October 5th through October 11th, and today is the 6th, so we are uh in the middle of this week. It is fire prevention week and um there are articles out there about this. Um it's the kind of thing that you never think is really going to happen in your own home, but later in the hour we'll give you all kind of stats, all kind of statistics, all kinds of helpful advice, stuff that you probably learned at one point but you forget over the years because for most of us it never comes up. But if if it ever did come up, oh boy, I'm sure you don't forget it. So, we want to know, did you ever actually have a fire in your home? Even a small one. Even a fire that you were able to put out yourself. You didn't even have to call the fire department all the way to like a huge one where you absolutely had to call first responders. 1 800283101.5. I've never had one personally, but I've witnessed some around the town where I grew up. Excuse me. I just started smoking a cigarette apparently. There was a house down the street from my parents house. Yeah. That it was completely destroyed. I'm going to say how long ago I'm going to say I was in seventh grade, so early 2000s. Yeah. But I didn't witness it being on fire. My neighbors did and they said it was just absolutely terrifying. And I saw the aftermath of it and even like days later you could still smell it. Oh yeah. Yeah. Which is just I don't know sobering I guess where you're like this was this was real. You hear about house fires, you hear about stop, drop, and roll. You never think as a kid you're going to actually witness the aftermath. And it was terrifying. Well, you did right when you were a kid. They drilled that into your head so much. The whole here's what you do if there's a fire. Didn't you say once that you were amazed that you didn't have a house fire? At like age nine, I was like, "It's so weird that this house hasn't caught on fire yet." Right. Because because at school they have assemblies for this. They talk about it so much that you got to figure, well, this is bound to happen sooner or later. I thought I was the outlier, right? It's like that's strange. Like eventually this house is going to catch on fire. Yeah. Um and I don't make to make light of houses. No, of course not. No, of course not. But uh Right. That was my blame 9-year-old Kylie on that one. Right. Right. All right. But um we we would love to hear some stories about how bad it got. Um and you know what I always wonder too? If something breaks out, like you got a fire in your garage, you have a fire in your kitchen, something like that, at what point do you abandoned trying to put it out yourself and realize, "Yeah, I've got to call 911." Aren't you supposed to call 911 right away? You are. You are. But as somebody who had that oven fire that time, I mean, I didn't call 911. Oh, I just grabbed the fire extinguisher and I put it out. I think it would have been honestly I think had I called 911 in that particular case, it may have been too late. If I spent one extra minute calling 911, I think it was I I think maybe I would not have been able to get it put out with a fire extinguisher. Wow. So, I know that they say that you should, but I think it all depends on a case- by case basis, you know. Um, but yeah, like that point that you've got to admit to yourself, I'm not going to get this under control myself and you've got to call for the fire department to come. Oh, that's got to be a moment. So, who's actually had it happen? Did you ever have a fire in your home? 1 800 283101.5 219. Here's Fast Traffic. Fall means football. Starting a brand new week and uh this week marks fire prevention week. This is something that is completely ignored. Nobody ever thinks it's going to happen to them. But what's your nine-year-old Kylie? Well, I mean, okay. Yeah, except that. But all right, for example, um only 44% of people in the United States have even thought it through to think about what they would do if a fire broke out, like having like even the slightest escape plan. The majority have not. And only and this I don't blame people for but it says only 14% of those people have who have thought of what they would do like an escape plan have actually practiced it. Now I understand they say especially when you have kids that you ought to have these fire drills in your house. I get talking to the kids and I actually do understand that it would be safer if you actually did a drill. I've just never known anybody in real life that actually did that. I would love to hear if anyone listening has done that because that never even crossed my mind and I can't even think of a single friend who was like who did that? Right. I never had a friend who said that when they were a kid their parents did it. I never had a friend who now as parents said that they did it with their kids. I mean, it's something that happens in schools, you know, every couple of months or every month, whatever it is, they they will have a fire drill at school, but to have one in the house, I don't know anybody who's ever done that. If you have, yeah, I would love to hear about that, but uh I just I feel like even though they are not wrong, they're right. We would be better off if we did it, especially with our kids. I feel like it's a guaranteed way of having your young kids roll their eyes at you. If you were like, "Okay, kids, fire drill time. Everybody, there's a fire. What do we do?" I could completely see even sevenyear-olds rolling their eyes at you. But it saves lives. It does. I'm not saying they're wrong. I mean, if I could use an extreme, and I I forgive me, I cannot remember the name or the company, but there was the one person who died in 911 who had his entire company do practice drills of whether there was a fire or not. And he saved so many people that day and was last seen going up back into the building to see to save more. Oh my gosh. Wow. So, of course, while people while they were doing the drills were like, "Fine, I guess I'll walk down x amount of floors." Yeah. This is dumb. How many people? Yep. Yep. No, I get it. I get it. And then here's another stat. One in 10 people have purposely removed the batteries from their smoke alarms because they just like it's always going off when they're cooking, say, you know. Yeah. And they get annoyed by it. So one in 10 have actually on purpose removed the batteries. PSA. Don't do that. Right. Right. Yeah. watch uh watch a certain season of uh This Is Us and you'll see why you should not do that and then stop because it gets boring. And also they say almost 50% of Americans do not even own a carbon monoxide detector. Now that I can relate to that I had happen one time, but I never did have an actual fire. I mean I had an oven fire once. Uh it never escaped the oven. So I mean I was lucky in that regard. So, I mean, I guess you could say I had a small, tiny fire, but it was contained to the oven. But, have you ever had any kind of house fire, big or small? Tell us about it. How did you manage? How did you get through it? 1 800283101.5. When you had the oven fire, was any other part of the kitchen affected? Like even something as tall as a dish towel? No, just smoke. Just smoke. I mean, the smoke was heavy. Um, like did it fill the kitchen or did it just set off alarms? I mean, it was setting off the alarm. I mean, there was enough smoke to set off the alarm and you could see the smoke, but it wasn't like you were going to choke on the smoke. You know what I mean? You never had to like duck. No, no, no, no, no, no, no. It didn't fill the room with, you know, like 3 feet deep from the ceiling or anything like that. It wasn't that bad. But, um, yeah. The the stupid thing that happened was one of my older I I nobody would ever fess up, but it was one of my older two kids of my four. They clearly had cooked something in the oven. Something had slopped out of it down onto the bottom. Right. Mhm. And then they didn't clean it. They just left it and then they closed it. And so I was preheating the oven one night and it gets up to full 450 or whatever the preheat was, right? And all of a sudden I'm noticing, oh my god, there's smoke coming everywhere. And as soon as I noticed it, smoke alarm started going off. And uh yeah, I mean, long story short, the entire inside of the oven was on fire. And and I realized it was because somebody didn't clean some runoff that slopped all over the bottom of the oven floor. Okay. moratorium on the word slop. Oh, yeah. You don't like that? All right. Sorry. Uh but yeah, and uh Jack, my oldest, came running in. I don't know if it was him or Mina. I I I will never know. But I was like I'm like opening the oven to see what's going on. I see everything. Flame starts shooting out of it. I close the oven again. I was like, "Jack, fire extinguisher. Throw it to me." So he he does he gets it right to me. And I never used one before, but I mean it's pretty intuitive, you know. I just I I pulled the pin, I had the nozzle ready to go, I pull the I pull the oven door open, I start shooting it in, and it was like woof, within 3 seconds, it's out. But the mess, if you ever used a fire extinguisher, let us know. Have you ever had to use one? Because the mess left behind by a fire extinguisher is epic. Really? Oh my god. so much gushes out so fast that chemical and I think it was one of these uh like it's like for any type of fire. So I think it's like an A and a B and a C rating. I think that's what they go by. Um yeah, but it put it right out but then there was like massive cleaning to do uh inside that oven. But yeah, that was like really my only close call and it was a minor one, but have you ever had any kind of fire in your home? 1 800283101.5. Hey guys, Bill Spadia here. Maybe this would have helped you. Before we get to the calls, we have this coming in on the app from Kathy and Maple Shade. She says to tell Jeff to lay a piece of aluminum foil at the bottom of the stove, and that way when mess happens, you just peel it away and put on a fresh piece. She no longer has to clean her stove. Maybe the aluminum foil would have been easier to see a mess against rather than just the dark bottom of the stove. I don't know. Yeah. And maybe my kids would have just left the aluminum foil in there and it would have happened anyway. But you would have at least the light would have reflected off of it. You would have seen a dark something. No, I understand. I understand. But yeah. Yeah, it was one of their faults. That's all I really know. I have a guess as to who it is, but I'm not going to let her know. Yeah, between my son or my daughter. I'll just have to figure that one out then. So, who has dealt with a house fire? How bad was it and how did you handle it? Also, does anyone actually practice fire safety drills with them with their children? 1800283101.5. Also, also, I think you're right. All right, let's talk to Felicia in Delaware Township. Hey, Felicia. Hi. Hi. Um, so this is a number of years ago. It was New Year's Eve and I was coming home from work. Uh or I got home from work. It was late. I was living on Main Street in Flemington. It was a two family house. I lived there. Oh, I know it. Well, I used to live right around the corner from there. Do you? I loved living on Main Street. Um so the folks upstairs uh apparently fell asleep with a cigarette, set their place on fire. It burned down to mine. Oh no. Uh nobody called me. Nobody, you know, no notification. They had my phone number. My cat was in the house. My turtle was in the house. Um went, you know, I pulled in the driveway, went running down the, you know, to the door. The fireman grabbed me. He's like, "You can't go in there. My cat, my cat." He let me go in. He came with me because at that point, the fire was out. But they were still doing like what? Just like the mop up, the clean up. Exactly. Exactly. And at that point it was still like they called it condemned until they would know if it was fake. I'm surprised they let you go in. So your whole Well, I Well, it's my brother. Thank goodness uh was on the fire department and the rescue squad. So he wasn't there. He happened to be away. Yeah. But they as soon as they heard my last name, they're like, "Oh my god, it's Bob's sister." So we went in, we found the cat, put him in his carrier, brought him back out, and I'm standing there. I had my dog was at work with me, so she was with me. And how was all your stuff? Was your stuff all ruined? Um, a lot. Yes. I'll have to say travelers's insurance, renters's insurance was incredible. They took care of everything. They put me in a up in a hotel for until everything was cleaned and repaired. The house couldn't be repaired. I I did have to find a different apartment. If I could pause you right there, how long were you in a hotel? Uh, two, four months, six months, something like that. Yikes. And then, thank goodness because it was winter time, my turtle was in the refrigerator uh, hibernating. So, when I realized, oh my god, my turtle, we got to go back into the house. Grab Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Thank you. Because I also had that question. Wait a minute. Turtles Turtles hibernate in a refrigerator, right? When they're when they're human raised. Yes. Um, when they're what? Human raised. Oh, human raised. What a person. Right. I only heard human. Well, they're the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Yes, that's what I goes into is in the fridge. Yeah. Um Oh, no kidding. In nature. Yeah. In nature, they dig down below the frost wine and go to sleep for about four to five months. Okay. That's why they replicate it with the fridge. Exactly. No kidding. Yeah. It's so cool. Okay. Now, if if you were known to some of the first responders, why didn't anybody give you a call? Well, it was a rental. I thought I didn't know. I didn't own the house, you know. Oh, so they were Oh, so they weren't connecting it to you. Correct. I understand. All right. Connecting it to me. And so they said to when I got there and they said, "Well, who are you?" I'm you know, I live here and Okay, we need your last name. Sh. Oh my god. And then I understand now. Right. Oh man, what a nightmare. That makes sense. But you know, the people who like all my stuff and a lot of water damage. The water damage was crazy. Oh, I can only Oh, I bet it was awful. I'm glad everybody made it out okay, though. Yeah, Felicia, I have a thousand more questions about turtles, but that's not the point, so I'll save it for another day. Thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Jackie from Pennsylvania, you're in New Jersey 101.5. Hi. How are you guys? Hi. You had a fire once? Yes, it's been several years, but I came home late from a shift work. Um, everyone's asleep. I fell asleep and next thing I hear, I thought it was my husband's alarm clock, but it turned out was the smoke detector going off. Oh boy. And I do back off. But fortunately, my husband got up and I hear him yelling, "Get the kids, get out of the house." And a fish tank caught on fire downstairs. Oh, and clothing on fire. Yes. Fish 55gallon fish tank. And then it spread. It spread to the walls. It spread to the whole room. No, we were fortunate. Um, we had moved it into the laundry room cuz we were having carpeting laid. And when the heater from the fish tank started on fire, it set the clothing on fire that was hanging up in the laundry room. And then in turn, the lid kind of stuck to the um fish tank. My husband had to punch that out. He got it into the laundry tub. And as he's opening up the garage door, the firemen were there. Mhm. And he's saying, "I need a Budweiser." This sounds like a movie. I need a It does. Or or it sounds like a Budweiser commercial where like the garage door opens up. It's the firefighters. They toss him a bud. Really? Really? But how damaged was the home? Uh we were Well, it went into our heating system or Yes. So, it went throughout the duct. So, they did come in. It took about a week to clean out all the um Not too bad then. Oil and all, but no, we were very fortunate. Yeah. contained to the laundry room and into and into the duct with some duct system. Nice. All right. Well, not too bad. Thank god. Almost best case scenario, right, Jackie? Wow. I'm glad everything was okay. Thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. All right. If you have any other stories, we will absolutely take them. This is fire prevention week. And uh also coming up, we will give you these top five fire hazards that most of us end up overlooking. Right now it is fire prevention week. Who has ever had a fire in your home? 1 800283101.5. And real quick before we go back to the phones, the top five fire hazards that many people overlook. All right. Sleeping with the bedroom door open. I never even thought about this, but they say that is a bad thing to do. And 37% of us do it. Oh, no. Cuz you're supposed to feel the heat against the door. Right. Right. That smoke might be pouring in and render you unconscious when you're already unconscious. I never sleep with the door open. Yeah, sleeping with the bedroom door open. 37% of us do that. Using too many extension cords, 32%. I'm just flashing on uh Christmas Vacation with Chvy Chase. Uh leaving the stove unattended, 28%. Letting candles burn unsupervised, 19%. and leaving a space heater on overnight. 16%. Nothing about dryers. You always hear about drier fires though with the lint buildup. Yeah. All right, let's talk to Will in Weartown. Hey Will, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey Jeff and Kylie, how are you? Hi Will. We're good. What happened with you? All right, so I do have two stories. I'll start off uh they're a little light on the light-hearted side. So I'll start off with the first one. I was 12 and my younger cousin was 10. And one summer we got real into model rockets. Oh no. Oh god. Gee, where is this story going? Really? It's not going to end well. We could already tell. No. Yeah. I mean, we can laugh about it now. Right. Right. Right. Nobody bottle rockets, you have the launch pad or the launch uh button, and it usually has a light bulb on it. So, when you put the key in, the light goes on. You know it's armed, right? Well, this one, the light bulb was not going on. So, me as a 12-year-old, I told my cousin, "Oh, let's just connect the wires to the engine and see if the light goes on." So, my cousin's holding this 2-in rocket engine in his fingers. Mhm. As soon as we connect the wires, it ignites. Now, we are maybe a foot from each other, right? He he he disappeared. I could not see him through the smoke. The fire smoke detectors are going off in the house. We were in the living room like instantly. It was just like instant huge smoke. Okay. Yes. Didn't press the launch button. Nothing. Just connected the wires and it ignited. Once the smoke cleared, my cousin's sweatshirt was on fire and it was like the sweatshirt uh hoodie pouch. Yeah. So, it burned through the first pouch, burned through the sweatshirt, and then to his shirt that he was wearing. My older sister, speaking of fire safety, she goes, "Oh my god, stop dropping rolls. Stop dropping rolls." She didn't know what else to do because the whole house is just smoke. Entirely smoke, right? So, he was okay. Well, hey, real quick. You only have like a minute. So, like what was the other what was the other story? So the other story is uh about my uncle who uh was born blind. So in the 1960s he used to just listen to the police scanner. And one day my grandfather smelt gas in the basement. So he lights a match to help figure out where the gas is coming from. Oh my god. Starts a small fire in the basement. Yeah. So then my uncle's listening to the police scanner and here's I forget the address. 123 Main Street house fire. And my uncle's like 1 123 Main Street. That's where we house. No one told me the house is on fire. No. And that's how we found out uh the house is on fire. Everybody was okay though, right? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Everyone All right. Yeah. So, speaking of nj1015.com, you know, we all write these articles and everything, right? Willingly. Right. Right. Oh, yeah. Yeah. There's no hostage situation here. So, Kylie had this idea. I hope you don't mind me setting this up by just blatant honesty. No. Okay, good. Why start now? Kylie had this idea. I feel like this would be fun, but they might be tough to think of, but your idea could make it into an article on mj1015.com because Kylie was thinking about now that it is October and you we're only a few weeks away from Halloween, what would be either ironic or funny or sarcastic, whatever, totally Jersey costumes. for Halloween. And it doesn't necessarily have to be scary, but it could be not at all. I mean, it could be, but but right, not at all. It could just be sarcastic. It could be like, let me just give you like a crazy example of one I thought. I'm not saying Kylie liked this one. I'm saying it's one of the first ones I thought. Okay, just to sort of like get your mind rolling because if you would call in your own idea for a totally jersey costume for Halloween, Kylie might just include it in this article. You might be famous. Whoa. At 1800283101.5. So, I heard last night that she was that she was thinking about doing this and I was like, "Ooh, maybe dumb, but you dress all you dress all in green. Green pants, green shirt, the same shade of green, if you can find it as those highway signs, right? You dress in green, but then in white block lettering you put on your shirt." Exit 13A. exit 13A. And then you have in your pocket for when any for whenever anybody approaches you, they have this novelty spray that smells like, you know, poop or skunk or something. It's like a stink spray, right? Whenever anybody gets near you, you just spray them full of the noxious odor, which is exit 13. My only my only edit on this Well, yeah, you'll get punched in the face perhaps, but you should spray yourself with it at the start of the night. You shouldn't ruin No, I want to spray them. I don't want to smell like that all night. No, that way when people pass you, they're like, "What's Oh." Oh, exit 13A. Well, I mean, I guess you could do a little of that, too. But if they're not ruining everyone else's night just by being like, "Oh, hey, Tinkerbell. Hey, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey. Hey, hey, you need an article. I had an idea. Okay. And I'm I'm not saying And I'm saying that there can be some punch-ups. It's almost as if there's a reason there are editors. I'm not I'm not saying it's I'm not saying I'm really going to do it, but I think it would be very funny to go dressed as Exit 13A and in however you want to work it out. Just the smell is atrocious because that's what exit 13A is known for. I think it'd be very funny. You dress in green, white block lettering, a little little stank spray. Okay, how about this? And exit 13A. I think it'd be hysterical. How about this for a couple's uh costume? I almost said concert. Coup's costume. Someone goes at Do you remember in the You need to calm down music video from Taylor Swift, how in the end she's one's a burger, one's fries. So someone goes as the bag of French fries. Mhm. The other person in the couple goes as a seagull. Oh. Oh, because you're going to steal. Yeah. Okay. Okay. And then if it's a couple's costume with a kid, the kid is the one holding up a French fry about to throw it at the seagull. Possibly. Yeah, that could work. That could work. I'm not selling you on this. No, no, no, no, no. It's just not. Did you just hear how your voice? No, I didn't. No, I just I Well, I cuz I was thinking of Taylor as the hamburger and the other one as the French fries and that's what I had in my head. So, when you said when you said seagull, but obviously the it has to be something with Jersey. So, that makes sense, right? I think that's a I think that's a perfect couple's costume. Okay. If you can think of any of these, I don't care how like only halfformed your idea is, it's fine. As you can hear, we'll workshop it. Right. Right. Right. This is just for fun. I mean, we're like pulling apart our own ideas here. All right. But what would be a costume that would have something to do with Jersey? A totally Jersey costume for Halloween. What would it be? 1 800283101.5. It is 3:18. Here's Fast Traffic. Maple Leaf Farms in Manalpa, New Jersey. Come 3:24 with Jeff and Kylie getting into the Halloween mood. He's giving us an update on the radioactive shrimp. Ah, hear me out. Oh. Uh-huh. Pink shirt, pink pants. Mhm. You somehow manufacture a tail, and then you put glow sticks all over you. Radioactive shrimp. Yes. Ripped from the headlines. Hey, what are you? I'm a radioactive shrimp. Perhaps you've heard of it. Read the news. No, that's actually good. That actually might be what my costume is this year. I have pink pants and a pink shirt. Yeah. Like like And I have glow sticks. Like you might have to you might have to tell them, but it's still funny once you tell them what it is. Yeah. It's like, "Hey, what are you?" I'm radioactive shrimp. It's been in the news. Okay. It'll be pink shirt, pink pants, tail, a bunch of glow sticks, and then just a print out of the New Jersey 101.5 article. There you go. Done. There you go. I'm set. It is October 6th and I am set. It doesn't have to be a couple's costume. And then the And then the egg and the uh Right. And then the egg and the cheese. They've got to like decide who they're going to side with. And for pictures, they have to be in the middle. That's right. Oh, Annette, this is perfect. I wish I was in college right now, right? Cuz I'm not going to any Halloween parties this year. I don't know if you've ever seen him when he's out broadcasting live, but there's usually a sign that says, "Do not feed Big Joe." So, you would need to have a sign around your neck saying that. I'll make like a cage around them with a sign, you know, like you need a microphone. Right. Right. Right. Have a microphone there. And then you would have a uh boom box playing Brandy and maybe and maybe a t-shirt screen printed that says uh here's fast traffic. Guys, this is Stop digging. We struck oil. Uh you you find a smashed headlight, you glue that onto your torso. You find somebody's speeding ticket, you make a Xerox copy of it, you glue that onto your shirt and maybe a couple other things and you go with 78. That could work. Sure. And then uh my second one was um Chris Christiey's lap band. Oh my god. Well, would you have it like broken open or I think you kind of got to wear like like pinks or something to make you look like the stomach. And then maybe like you could wear a neck brace and the neck brace would be like the lat band. Oh my god, that's too fun. Okay, John, I think I found a way that you can troll people with the subhogi thing. Yeah. You dress up as a sandwich and you have someone guess like what do you think I am? And whatever they say subh her hogy, you go no. And then say whichever one they didn't say. Oh. Oh. Just to have the subhero. Yeah. Like for instance, sub argument. For instance, Jeff, what am I dressed as? Uh yeah, you're a you're a sub. Jeff, obviously I'm a hogy. Sorry. Fine. Hogy. You don't know anything. I'm a hogy. You don't know. He's a hogy. What happened? Guess where it is. Uh, okay. I don't know if you're setting up a joke or you're being serious. Oh, I'm setting up a joke. The answer is not in New Jersey. Oh, you know, see, I was going to guess a certain brewery, but I think that's smarter. So, so did you really? But out of out of state. Yeah, it was a third of the price and everything's included. Wow. No kidding. Good for you. Oh, good for you. That hour really helped out a lot actually. Like like a lot a lot. So, thank you very much for doing something like that. Absolutely, man. Yeah. And I hope to help out others as well. Thank you. Because you guys aren't the only ones struggling with this. Yeah. Really? Yeah. So, I I'm Me and Christy, we go as a couple's costume every year. Um I never actually get to pick what we go as, but um that's okay. Um one year we went as Miss Fri She was Miss Frile and I had to dress up as the dinosaur. The little Wizard. No way. Yeah, it was a bad year. Um I had to dress up wear green face paint and sweat by a bonfire outside. Great. Um, so what would your jersey couples be? Well, there I think if you wanted to put like right South Jersey on your butt and put North Jersey on your hat and put Central Jersey in your armpit because they always say Central Jersey is the armpit of the state. But I think it'd be cool like if you have a baby like the mom could be South Jersey, the dad could be North Jersey, and the baby could be Central Jersey because you can't hate Central Jersey. You can't hate a baby. It's a Wait a minute. Are you trying Are you trying to announce something? No. No, no, we're not spending time. Is this like a Taylor Swift Easter egg we're hearing here? Are you dropping clues, Jeff? If I'm going to have a baby, no offense, but do you think I'm going to drop it on the afternoon drive show on my way home from work? I think you would actually. Yeah, I think you would. We would be honored. I I'm sure you guys would be, but I don't know. I I'll let you guys know when we get another dog. No, he's going to announce on Spadia show. Whatever. So, uh, I think, um, you know, you would a guy would dress up with a suit on and everything and somehow you you structure a little little house above his head with a little lady in there like yabbing away and, you know, uh, it's it would be Phil Murphy and his illegal uh, immigrants above his garage. Oh my god. Great call back. That's funny. Oh man. Like, you know, you could say keep it there, Consuelo. You know, but then occasionally you have to like take her out of there because she was never actually there and then you'd be like, "What do you mean? I never actually said there was someone in there." You get somebody to go with Tom Holman walking next to you, you know. Yeah. I was going to Right. I was right. I was going to say if somebody else comes to the party dressed as Ice Yeah. Hey, you got to get her the hell out of there then, man. You got to hide her somewhere. Put her back in later. I forgot about that story. What a what a misstep. Oh, he was just he was just blowing so much smoke trying to look like some hero. Yeah, he was so full. So, guys, hey, thank you. Thank you. We appreciate you calling New Jersey 101.5. Happy early Halloween to you in case we don't talk until then. Mark in Bound Brook, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. Hi. How you guys doing today? Hey Mark, what's up? What? Can you think of a totally jersey costume? Oh, yeah. You got one. Okay. I got one. Tell me what you think of this. All right. Ready? You go all over the diners. You get menus. You go over the diner menu. Here's the thing, Mark. You would have had to start that costume in June because diner menus are so long. Oh, they're so big. I know. And what you do is you can go online and you can actually get copies of the menu and you cut them out and you put them and you can go with Captain Diner. Oh my god. New Jersey superhero. I'm voting for Captain Diner for governor. Exactly. Joe's uh Joe Jeff is thinking about something. No, I'm just I'm just thinking about a little punchup. Like not just the menus, but maybe like you have to have a ketchup stain on it. Yeah. Well, no, no, no, no. Not just that, but maybe like get a like get like an 8x10 black and white photo of Frank Sinatra that every diner whenever they have a celebrity, they always put that special person that comes by. Right. Right. Glue that on. You also get one of those maybe. Oh yes. Yes. The weird mints. You glue some of those on like the community mint bowl. And then also the toothpicks. Toothpick. The toothpicks. And also the paper. Sorry, I just got very excited. the paper place mats that have all the ads. Just swipe one. Go to a diner, swipe one, like a funeral home, a lawyer, right? And a bail bondsman. And you just glue all of that to you and you go as a whole Jersey diner. Could not have picked a better one to end on. I love it. Love it, Mark. Perfect. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey 101.5. Never give in to a meltdown. New Jersey chime time. It is 4:09. It's a Monday and we are Daminsky and more. I'm Jeff Daminsky and I'm Kylie Moore. Um, Kylie, later on we still have to talk about uh the the crazy political thing happening. Uh the there is I mean this this is how silly an election year gets. It has now come down to pork roll. We will Is that silly or is that very very important in New Jersey? Ladies and gentlemen, continuing coverage of Pork Gate. It's how Pork Gate didn't happen under under the Chrissy administration. We'll never know. Yeah. Really? Uh we'll explain all of this later on, but but Jack Chedarelli on on social media. Um perhaps part in justest perhaps actually trying to sway some people. I don't know. But he was trying to make he was trying to make it appear that his Democratic uh rival Mikey Cheryl, Congresswoman Mikey Cheryl, uh hated uh pork roll, but he did it by only taking an edited version of what she actually said and put it out there. And we'll we'll explain the whole thing later on. And we've got what she really said with the full audio that that that we will play for you later on. But I mean, seriously, it's like it was it was an attempt to try to say, "Well, yeah, she's not one of us. She's not from around here, you know?" And he's right. She's not. She's from Virginia. But but yeah, when you hear what he says she said versus the full thing that she said, you'll see it was really just a difference of well, do you call it Taylor Ham or do you call it pork roll? Not that she hates the product, but we'll get to that later on. Also, it is another thousand at work payday. Your shot at a,000 bucks coming up on Thursday. That goes all the way to $10,000 for that day. Cha-ching. Yep. Uh but you got to you got to enter those codes any hour that you hear one. They change every hour. We have another one coming up in under 10 minutes. So, uh stand by for that. So, I was thinking about you. Um, oh, thank you. I was thinking about you because of this uh leaf blower thing. Yeah. Yeah. A leaf blower made me think about you. Okay. Uh, there was a USA Today story and this was uh this was a national story of course and it was all about how bans on leaf blowers have been spreading across the United States. I don't think this article, and it's a long one. I don't think I remember them ever mentioning New Jersey in here, but they they talk about how this is the time of year obviously that you start busting those out of the garage and it's it's an assault on gas powered leaf blowers. More than 200 cities, counties, and local jurisdictions along with a number of states statewide have either ban the use of gas powered leaf blowers or somehow restricted them. And they mention uh for example um Arlington County, Virginia is considering a yearround ban on gas powered leaf blowers in New York State. that legislature. They've got a bill creating a rebate program for the purchase of electric lawn equipment passed by uh uh the Senate. Um and it just goes on and on. We've had legislation here in New Jersey. It never went anywhere. But it was a difference between a two-stroke and a four-stroke engine. It gets into kind of the weeds, you know, with that. But the Yeah, no pun intended. But but it does uh but it hasn't actually uh it hasn't actually taken a hold. It's still kind of being debated. But there are many in our own state capital that would like to see eventually gas powered leaf blowers just go away and and that you would be forced to use an electric leaf blower. landscapers in New Jersey have freaked out about it and they have pushed back. And we have a lot of people who maybe they're not rich, you know, maybe they're just middle class, but they're using a lawn company because everybody's working second jobs, everybody's got side hustles. It's so expensive here. Um, and you know, a lot of people are not necessarily doing their own leaf blowing, but they're hiring it out. And and it's a big thing in a very suburban place like New Jersey. Many of us have lawns. This is not like a big thing in New York City, but upstate New York, it will be a big thing. It's a big thing in New Jersey because we have a lot of people that have a lawn that they want to keep nice, but they don't necessarily have the time to do it themselves. If they do, they don't want to be out there all day. If they don't, the landscape company that is going to come and blow the leaves off, they are going to have to raise how much they charge you. They're going to have to because if they would be forced, if this all goes through like it's happening across the country, they will be forced to hike their rates a lot because electric versus gas powered, it's not nearly as efficient. You're going to have to have so many backup battery packs. You might even have to. I'm not sure how they would even do it. If you work in that, if you work in an industry, you could let me know, but I could even see a scenario where they would have to actually drag around their own generator just to keep powering up the battery packs. Wow. And then that's going to be just more fuel wasted there. For a lot of people, it's the noise. For others, it's the pollution. For a lot of people, it's both. But do you think that gas powered leaf blowers are a problem? Do you think that they ought to be banned or even restricted in New Jersey? 1 800283101.5. This is my admittedly selfish um standpoint as of now. I am more than willing to be corrected on this. For me, it's like 75 noise, 25 pollution. I just I just mostly the noise the noise like the Grinch. Right. Exactly right. I am up on that mountain staring down at the uh at the leaf blower just like came without packages, boxes or bags. But I but I also I understand both sides and that's what's frustrating. Although again, if I had to do the completely selfish take on this, it would be at least get rid of a few of them. Legislative. I hate I hate the task. I hate the task of leaf blowing. I hate it. And the faster that task can get done, the better. I would much prefer a gas powered. I owned I owned an electric. Dumbest move I ever made. Really should have bought gas powered. Yeah. Oh, yeah. And it was not for environmental reasons. It was because it was cheaper. So, I bought the cheaper one. It was just I guess now you know why. Well, yeah. It was dumb of me. And you know, and I very quickly learned like how quick those battery packs die out on you. I had several electric uh you know, uh lawn tools, and they just suck. They truly suck. How quickly do they burn out on you? Oh, I don't know. I mean, I had one that was like uh like a weed whacker. Uh could kind of work like as an edger. I don't know. I just remember even fully charged that thing would go after like 30 minutes. Oh, wow. I think it was a bad one. I think I think a better one would have gone longer, but I just don't think I bought like the highest end one. I was trying to save money. Dumbest thing I did cuz I was trying to save money, then I wasted time by doing it. But um yeah, in this USA Today story, they talk about how public officials and communities may initially oppose gas powered leaf blowers uh due to the noise they make. Um, it's fall. Leaves are falling from the trees. There's this in in there's this incessant worring of the leaf blower. You're trying to keep your windows open. You could smell the gas and the smoke. Oh, please. If you're bothered by a leaf blower, just my opinion, not trying to offend anybody, but you really need to get a life. If you're really bothered by the gas or the noise of a leaf blower once a week, come on. Some of us are sensitive to noises. Oh, please. I love the sound of lawn work. Never bothers me at all. Must be nice. It never bothers me at all. Makes me think of summertime. And I know it's fall time, but it just makes me think of summer. I used to I you I I grew up right next to the Rawway uh middle school, and they had those guys out there constantly. It was a huge huge field, a lot of property, and they were always out there mowing the lawns and lots of noise and like not just once a week, but maybe like two or three times a week. I love the sound of it. I thought you would be more sensitive to people who are over stimulated. Why? Because of your sons. Oh, because of their autism. Mhm. Yeah. They can put their headphones on. It's not going to bother me. All right. So, we want Okay. Just Just saying it, man. A asked and answered. Should gas powered leaf blowers somehow be banned or restricted in the garden state? 1 800 283 101.5 419. Here's fast traffic. Franco this October bel New Jersey 101.5. So yeah, in New Jersey there was actually a a bill in the legislature. It's it's never gone all the way, but it was uh on the Senate side. It was Senate Bill 217. And um that bill would prohibit the sale of gas powered leaf blowers with two-stroke engines within 2 years of uh of it passing. And uh and then it would uh completely make illegal even the use of them. Forget about the sale of them within 4 years of it passing. And then there would also be restrictions later on for four- stroke engines. I mean, they're gunning for gas powered leaf blowers, and it's going on all across the country. It's going on in cities. Montlair has some laws about it. They've gotten challenged, though. Maplewood passed something. Uh, West Orange on their own did. Uh, Morristown did. A lot of towns on their own are taking aim at gas powered leaf blowers. And I'm sure that lawn crews, they hate this. So, if you're in that industry, let us know what you think about it. If you're just a homeowner, you're just trying to, you know, not spend 18 hours blowing the leaves with some crappy uh electric leaf blower. Let us know how you feel about it. 1800 283101.5. Mike and Jackson, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, how are you? Hey, Mike. Yeah, it's ridiculous. I've I've seen them trying to do this for a long time. Anybody that thinks that they can get the best electric blower on the market is equivalent to the worst gasoline blower on the market. I could see it. Do you work in the indust? Yeah, I do. Okay. Yeah, cuz you sound very knowledgeable. So, I'm sorry to interrupt. Go on. No, it's it's it's terrible and they're like three times the money. You get rained on, the battery doesn't work, it'll short out. They're And it goes for most of the tools, too. It's it's it's sad. Plus, you know, they what what's the what's the motivation? They got somebody in the industry. They're invested in, you know, lithium batteries and slave mines in the Congo that they want to be able to put this stuff out. It's ridiculous. It's, you know, you know, I have a backpack blower. I use a um a Red Max and it's the most powerful one I've ever had. And quite honestly, it works better than most of those ones you can roll along the ground. And if you're going to do an acre or two blowing sticker more leaves or anything along that line, right, it's just not it's not going to work. But more importantly, it goes into a philosophical thing, doesn't it? It's like a fascist thing where you're having government tell people what they can and can't buy in order to do normal tasks around their house only on a small scale. Well, and and and to that end, it's a completely different thing, but I think there are some similarities. Uh this uh this edict under Murphy about forcing everybody to I mean, of course, it's not going to happen hopefully. Uh but this edict about forcing everybody into an, you know, an electric vehicle, and people didn't want it. I mean, car dealers will tell you they hit a certain level and the appetite just was no longer there. Certain people did, but not enough pe the the demand was not there for the supply. And yet the government is trying to force you to have that demand. It's like you can't you can't tell consumers this. That's the definition of fascism. Economic fascism anyway. It really is. Look it up. I mean, economic fascism is letting businesses do what they want as long as they can be completely regulated and limited to whatever the government wants. That's crazy. Wow. Yeah. I I I I agree. I think they're going after wrong things here. Mike, thank you for calling New Jersey 101 1.5. If they could just be quiet, would you mind the gas powered? I would still a little mind the pollution, but I also understand that that's kind of like we're way too far past actually solving anything with pollution. I right with everything else. I mean, we're so congested in New Jersey, the traffic that we've got and not just New Jersey, not just the United States, everywhere. Right. Yeah, the planet in general, right? I think we're uh off that off that deep end. Mary in Pennington, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Uh yes. What I agree with the previous caller and the other thing I keep thinking about is number one, it's just not the homeowners and it's not just the lawn care companies. What about the municipalities, the public works departments? They're keeping our parks clean. They're mowing the lawns in the parks. they're uh doing the schools, the you know town halls and public property. Um so they're we're going to be paying for them to get all new equipment number one and take twice as long to do the work. And if they're worried about pollution, what about lawnmowers, the riding ones, particularly the big ones that public works and the lawn companies use and the snowblowers? Nobody uses a little electric one. And how's that supposed to work? Because they start going after one, they're going to go after the other. Oh, I was I was just about to say that. You know, that would be next up. I'm sure it would be. Hey, Mary, thanks for your thoughts. Thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5. Tell us what you think about that. I mean, it's that time of year. Leaf blowers are going to be uh, you know, firing up. Should gas powered leaf blowers be banned or restricted here in New Jersey? 1 800283101.5. Wow. New Jersey today. It's 4:37. Uh if you missed this hour's cash code, we have one more. It's another $1,000 at work payday. And we got one more opportunity for you to register to win that money. Uh that'll be coming up about 520. So make sure that you hang out with us. Uh we've got more news, of course, top of the hour. Uh that cash code, by the way, on Thursday, that at work payday goes all the way to $10,000 for that day only. So, make sure you listen all week. That's spicy. Yeah. All right. So, um you know, nobody loves to go out and rake leaves. That's why we invented the leaf blower. And then there's your uh electric leaf blowers, which uh I found out painfully suck. Gas powered leaf blowers are the most powerful. They're going to get the job done the best. This is why lawn companies like them the most. But New Jersey along with a lot of other places would like to ban them. Where do you stand on that? 1-800283 101.5. Deanna and Hlet, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. Um, so my first point is uh lithium ion batteries. Certain insurance companies won't even let you park an ebike inside because of the batteries being a fire hazard. Mhm. So, I'm not sure what they're going to do about that. Yeah. Um yeah. Yeah. When one of those does catch fire, man, they really burn a long time, right? And that's strain on EMS and we can So if they're going to do this, then everybody has to charge their devices. So we can barely maintain a regular flow on a grid in the summertime. So we have brownouts constantly. I just the logic is kind of erratic here. Yeah. I wonder if they have studied that. I wonder if they've studied how much more strain that would put on the electric grid because I mean it's it's clearly going to add to it, right? Even before electric vehicles, we had notices for people to turn down like turn up the temperature and reduce the strain on the grids. So, I wonder what they're going to do about that. Like I wonder if there's going to be like a tax incentive. So, I feel like that maybe that would have been like a better baby step because it can kind of like nudge you in the direction of maybe doing some solar if you're able to. Yeah. Wean people into areas where you can't. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. I wish I had an answer, but I I wish there was a solution. Yeah. I mean, I wouldn't worry because I mean, Murphy is still in for a few months and he's always had a plan for nothing. So, yeah. You know, I'm sure I'm sure he won't figure it out. Thank you for calling New Jersey a 1.5. Hey. Hey. He knew how to oversalt the roads. Oh man. The over brining of the roads early in his first administration after he botched the first major. So don't you dare look me in the eyes and say he didn't know how to get something done. I will never forget uh the old show Bill's with me and we get and we get a phone call. It was the last call of the night and it was former Governor Chris Christie calling in. Not even on the hotline calling in just just as Chris. We had no idea it was Christy until we heard his voice. It was just calling in his It was just Chris on the screen and all of a sudden we hear his voice. We knew immediately. Mhm. Oh my god. This is Chris Christie. And he went off. He because he was one of the many. He was stuck for hours trying to get home. And oh was he livid cuz he dealt with us so many times. He was rightfully pissed. And boy would I not want to mess with a pissed-off Chris Christie. Right. Right. And I've seen that man in action. And then after that we all experienced it. Right. Murphy's plan then was just brine if it's 70° out. Just brine. So yeah wild plan for nothing. Anyway, Robert, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Robert, sorry for the tangent. I just had to bring that up. Hey Robert. No, don't worry about it. You guys are good. Oh, thanks. Honestly, I'm I'm just as much of a tangent about these leaf blowers as you guys are. I mean, it's absolutely ridiculous. My dad has been doing this job for almost 40 years now. I've been helping on and off for about 10 years. So, I saw what it was like when we had leaf blowers, and I'm working in towns where they do just a flatout ban on it for the fall time, and it's it's it's horrible. Well, what have you I mean, what what's been the difference? If you've if you've seen where they have a ban on it, what uh so you either you either have small landscaping companies or ones with a bunch of guys, right? And the bigger ones that have a bunch of guys, they'll burn through the batteries and they don't care like those batteries like the electric batteries in them will get burned out because they have to cover such huge properties, right? And for me and for me and my old man, what we have to do is between every house, just grab a charger, two extra sets of batteries and swap out as they're charging from house to house because they die off so fast. You can't even use them on the highest power because you won't be able to get a house done in time if you want it done right and it looking clean. You have to set it on the lowest battery setting and you have to take your time and it just it just kills a day away. You can get three times the amount of houses done with gas blower. That's these electric. Right. Right. And I'm sorry, you and your dad, when you're charging them, when you're charging one battery pack while you're using another, what what's the source that you're charging them with? Well, we have to take on the good graces of the clients. Like, the people of the houses that we work at are nice enough and they understand because they've had us with gas blower and they like how clean their lawns are. Yes. But they know it's not your fault that the township passed it, right? At least they're good sports about it. These these these leaf blowers are not for commercial use. These aren't made for landscaping companies. They're made for individual households, right? So, when you have these these companies and you have these organizations that go around and take care of people's houses, it's it's not heavy duty. It's not meant for them, right? It's Yeah, that's insane. Hey, so frustrating, right? Hey, thank you so much for uh for shedding light on that. We appreciate your call. And yeah, USA Today ran this big story about how this is becoming more and more of a thing across the country that states, if not uh counties or municipalities, uh more often starting to ban gas powered leaf blowers. What do you think of that? 1800 283101.5. And it's Monday, so we need to catch up. How's your back? So where I live now, Madawan, uh one day they're doing the uh the lawn out front, you know, cuz they they they have people to do it. And so, uh, I'm walking out and the guy had his back turned and he had one of those backpack ones. Really loud and and I thought about you because he's got hearing protection. I don't. And it's just like I mean I mean it's enormously loud, right? And I just walk right by him. I was like within 5t of him and then when he saw me then he felt bad and he turned it off and I just went, "That's okay. Fire it up. I don't care. But then I was thinking about you because you just hate it. Drives me up a wall. Even if you're awake. It's not just when you're trying to sleep. Even if you're awake, it it unnerves you, doesn't it? Oh gosh. When uh and and bless the people who do work outside the building here. Right. Right. They work hard. They're good guys. But when you're in the producer room and you're trying to screen phone calls and all you can hear is and you're already trying to be like, "Sir, can you please take me off of Bluetooth?" through through two doors. Yeah. Yeah. Well, they're loud, but hey, man, they do great work. You want it to look You want it to look pretty, don't you? For radio. All right, we're If you're just joining us, what we're talking about is how many places are starting to ban gas powered leaf blowers. They want you to go to electric ones, which just suck, frankly. Art in Edison, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, good afternoon. How you doing? Hey, Art. Thanks for calling. What do you think? Well, I think right now a lot of this is just a lot of political pandering, let's call it. Doesn't this didn't they try to bring this to the uh to the house like about 8 months or a year ago and it just kind of got pushed off? Uh now, do you mean uh in the state? In the state at the state level. Oh, yes. Sorry. Yep. Yep. Yep. They did. Yep. Senate Bill uh 217, I think it was, right? Or 271. Here it is. Yeah. 217. Right. So, here it is. Right. Here it is. Obviously, the fall season, which is prime time to get people's attention, and they're bringing it back, and lo and behold, we have an election. You know, it's Yep. Yep. Gee, it makes you think twice. What are the odds? But the thing, too, is that, you know, one thing is, you know, the battery technology is just not there yet. You know, it's it's still a ways away. It's getting better, but it's just not there. But they obviously didn't think about that. They just want it done because they want it done. But what they never thought about in my opinion was why don't they go to these manufacturers and ask them to make a better machine, make it more efficient, make it quieter. Yeah. And if they have, I'm not aware of it, but maybe right now they are doing their best, the manufacturers, and they just can't. But Right. But you know, I I'm agreeing with what you're saying. You know how government is. They don't care. Just like um just like the infrastructure was never there to accommodate how many electric vehicles Governor Murphy wanted, but yet they were pushing for more electric vehicles. They'll be gung-ho about it. Even though we couldn't possibly have enough for the grid to charge them all. Hey Art, we appreciate your calling. Thanks for calling. New Jersey 101.5. On the table, Rob Dansy of Remax. New Jersey chime time is 510 on this Monday evening. It's the Dinsky and Moore Show. I am Kylie Moore. And I'm Jeff Daminsky. 1 800283101.5. Could you use $1,000? Yes. Yeah. Yeah. How do I do it? How do I get it? Give me Are you willing to give me 10 minutes? I suppose because all you got to do Oh, hold on. Oh, do I have to like do something difficult? No. All you No. A close day on. Right. Hey, thank you. I thought you were going to go somewhere worse. No, all you've got to do, all anybody has to do is give us about 10 minutes and there's going to be a code, a three-digit code that will be read by one of us, and you simply have to enter that on the uh best way to do it is the uh New Jersey 101.5 app, and you will be in the running for 1,000. The code happens 8:00 a.m. right through 5:00 p.m. Mondays through Fridays. It's a different code every hour. Enter often. Greatly increases your chances of winning. No problem with that. And your last one for today is coming up in about 10 minutes, maybe a little under. So, uh, make sure you're listening. And then it's all going to start back up again tomorrow morning with Bill with Bill Spadia in the 8:00 hour and later in the week on Thursday. My god, we're riddled with codes. that at work payday that day it goes to $10,000. Yeah. So, uh yeah, keep keep on listening. All right. Now, politics is getting so stupid and uh getting Yeah. Well, yeah. Well, I guess it's always been. You're right. But, you know, this time of year, we're about a month away from an election. Uh we one way or another are going to have a new governor. It's either going to be Governor Mikey Cheryl or uh Governor Jack Chedarelli. Chedarelli is on the Republican side, Cheryl is on the Democrat side. And um Cheddarelli tried to make an issue of something that involves pork roll. This would uh if you want to say that it's a pork roll scandal, if you want to call this pork gate, I guess you could. Here's what happens. There's a clip out there that he took, but not in its entirety. He took this clip, he puts it on social media, and the clip has her saying these words. She's in an interview. All you hear her saying is, "Who eats pork roll? I think that's gross. I've had this fight multiple times. Nobody wants pork roll." But that's all you're allowed to hear, right? And what Cheddarelli wrote was, "Hey, Mikey, tell me you're not from Jersey without telling me you're not from Jersey." So, he's trying to make an issue of pretending like she doesn't like pork roll. Mhm. That's not at all what she was actually saying. And he's got to know that. So, he cleverly, and it was clever, I'll give you that. He only used that part, right? He cut off the beginning of it. He cuts off the end of it. And you just hear that. Who eats pork roll? I think that's gross. I've had this fight multiple times. Nobody wants pork roll. So, he's trying to lean into, well, I'm from Jersey. She's not. Vote for me. Right. And uh and you know, I like Cheddarelli, but I got to call him as I see him. I mean, this is just getting silly now. Right. She writes back in response on social media, "Play the full tape," I'm Taylor Ham all the way. All she was doing, she was on the uh Zack Zang show and she was answering a question about whether she calls it Taylor Ham or pork roll. If he allowed the entire audio to be played, this is what was actually said. Taylor ham or pork pork roll. What do you call it? Come on. You're from Wayne. I call it Taylor. Taylor ham. Yeah. Thank you. Who eats pork roll? Not me. I think that's gross. Oh, you know what it is. I've had this fight multiple times. Nobody wants pork roll. Yeah. She's Taylor ham. She's Taylor ham. That part conveniently left out. Exactly. So, she wasn't saying that she doesn't eat it. She was just saying that she calls it Taylor ham. I mean, this is how silly we're getting with politics that this is going to be divisive now that like, oh, well, she doesn't like pork roll. I mean, come on. This is I mean, this is getting kind of silly. I will say, as you said, a very clever job from the Cheddar Alelli campaign because very few would actually check that. They just see that and be like, pork roll, right? Back in my day, we all ate pork roll. Cuz I'll be honest, I I saw that on his inset and I was like, "Okay, well done." Yeah. Mhm. But you knew the full story. Um, what do you mean even before you knew the full story? Before I knew the whole story. Oh, even before later on I saw it on Twitter, but I first saw it on his Insta and I was like, "Oo, that's a that's a big gotcha." And then I saw her response on Twitter. I was like, "Oh, that's an even better gotcha." Right. Right. Yeah. The gotcha got got. Yeah, exactly. Got Yeah. Just what? You know what? It's so quick. One more time for anybody who again, this is what she was actually saying. Let's play this. Taylor hammer pork roll. What do you call it? Come on. You're from Wayne. I call it Taylor. Taylor ham. Yeah. Thank you. Who eats pork roll? Not me. I think that's gross. I don't even know what it is. I've had this fight multiple times. Nobody wants pork roll. And she even had the knowledge of pointing out like you're from here obviously, right? You're from Wayne. That's this part of the state that says this, right? Right. Like that that does show a knowledge of the state. Of course. Yeah. Yeah, it does. Yep. Yep. It does. And and so she's Yeah. And actually in her response again, she said, "Play the full tape. I'm Taylor Ham all the way." And this would just be silliness except I mean they're like actually I don't know how playful it was versus really trying to sway people. I don't know. But I mean, clearly, tell me you're not from Jersey without telling me you're not from Jersey. I mean, come on. It's just it's it it's a little it's raw. It's a little pork roll, egg, and cheesy. It's a little pork roll, egg, and cheesy to do such a thing. That was worse. But I will give you this. I will give you this. Cheddarelli, I believe, does call it pork roll. I believe you asked him that one time. I believe so as well. So now you do have a choice. It's not that she doesn't eat it. It's that she's team Taylor Ham. And if memory serves, I believe Jack is team pork roll. So uh yeah, I guess you do have a choice to make this election year. Oh, what? Live from the newsroom right now, Aaron Vote is pointing out what that Jack has admitted that he will change his answer depending on where he is. And that does sound familiar. That does sound familiar, Aaron. Thank you very much. What? Wait, what? Are you serious? This completely rings a bell now that she said it. Wait, that he said it? Yes, that he himself said it. Yes, he said depends on where I am. Oh, that's interesting. A great job. This is why you're in news, but I'm not. Oh, I did. You know what? That is ringing a bell now. So, if he's campaigning in the north, he'll say Taylor Ham. And you can read all about this in Erin's article on nj1015.com. It's called NJ Governor's race has quote beef over Taylor Ham versus Corporal. She's got the story up. Oh, that's great. Yeah, I I encourage everybody to go and read that. That's funny as heck, man. Yeah, I think I think I think I do remember him saying that. And it's like, okay, I mean, I think saying Taylor Ham is a little weird. I would call it pork roll. I'm a pork roll girly. Right. Right. I would be a pork roll guy. I think saying Taylor Ham is odd. Uh but I mean, hey, you know, it's like at least I got to respect her for her conviction. If she's going to go with Taylor Ham, that she's going to stick with it. She's not going to change it depending on where she's campaigning. There you go. All right. We want to do something just for fun here. Forget politics. Please. Let's forget the politics. You're not asking who you're voting for. Yeah. We Yeah, we Yeah. Yeah. Not not today. But when it comes to that classic Jersey debate, which was all the question was really about to begin with, are you team Taylor Ham or are you team pork roll? And does anybody know where the dividing line is? Is it extreme northern counties where they call it Taylor Ham or is it as low as like like I think even in Union County I think they're calling it pork roll I believe. I'm not sure. So, do you call it Taylor ham? Do you call it pork roll? Where is the dividing line? And we may reserve the right to get into some other classic New Jersey debates this hour as well. 1 800283101.5. Here's Fast Traffic. Family Farm is open for the fall sever. Thank you, Mr. President, for giving the cash code. We appreciate it. Have a great rest of your day. That was so kind of him to come in. Yeah, wasn't it, man? I can't wait until uh tomorrow to see who gives the next cash code. I mean, the first one's going to be Bill Spadia, but who knows? Who who knows from there? It could go anywhere. All right, so our phone number is 1-800 283101.5. We already told you the weird political story about, you know, the Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. Uh, again, Mikey Cheryl never said she does not like pork roll. She was simply answering a question if you play the full tape. Uh, she was asked what does she call it, Taylor ham or pork roll? and she's uh she's Taylor Ham camp. Now, we want to know at 1800283101.5, what do you refer to it as and where do you live? Because she Oh, go ahead. What? No, no, no. You finish your thought. I I have the app message up. I won't I won't forget. Oh, okay. Real quick, I was just going to point out she lives in Montlair. Montlair is in what? I believe Essex County. I would count that as north. Yeah. Yes. I think once you're into Essex County that I believe to be North Jersey. So to me it would make sense that she's calling it Taylor Ham. I mean as much sense as it can make. I I I I don't believe in anybody calling it Taylor Ham. I'm just saying by rules of tradition that would make sense if you're in Monontlair that you might call it that. Um you know there was even a there was even a lawsuit about it. the the government said you can't call it ham, whatever. Um, it it will even say Taylor pork roll right on it. Blah blah blah. We all know the story about that. But I have always called it pork roll. What do you call it and where are you from? Like where is that dividing line in your opinion where it goes from Taylor ham to being called pork roll. 1800 283101.5. Okay. So a few app messages coming up. We are blowing up the app right now. And as always, if you cannot call us at 1800283101.5, you can write us on the app. It's super easy. So Annie in North Jersey, well, you can already guess what she's going to say. Yeah, if it's North Jersey, how far north maybe? But yeah, but she does say when I'm in South Jersey, it is pork roll. And North Jersey, it's Taylor Ham. So she can she can go with the vibes. Oh, she's doing a Jack Cheddarelli. Good for her. She goes with the flow. Okay. NJ Nanette in Middle Sex says Taylor Ham. My parents were Wait, wait, wait. I'm sorry. In Middle Sex. In Middle in Middle Sex now. But she's saying or yeah, she my parents were from North Jersey. Oh, that's why. But she also thinks that it sounds more appetizing than pork roll. So, it's not even just a how she grew up. It's just Oh. Oh, she's got a problem with the whole pork sound. Taylor Ham has the better PR team than pork roll. Tell her ham sounds a little more sounds a little more sophisticated than pork roll. And then this is the one that I was shocked by. What's up? Odd mom too is the username from Brick. They grew up in South Jersey. Mhm. Their mother used to call it Taylor Pork Roll. That's the worst answer of all. Okay. I know we're supposed No, I know we're supposed to compromise. I know we're supposed to see both sides. That's not my But Taylor pork roll. No. Pick a side. Pick a lane. No, no, no. I see this differently. Oh, how? Because Okay. Because Taylor is a brand name. Yes. And if you actually look at the label, that's actually what is on the label. It will say Taylor pork roll. Because the government said, "Hey, you can't call this ham. That's not what this is." And uh and they made them switch it. And it will now say Taylor pork roll. So, I don't think that she's like trying to be, you know, consiliatory. I I think she's being factual. It has this It makes sense. I know that you're right about it being on the label. However, it has the same energy as I love all my kids equally. I can't pick a favorite. It's Taylor Pork. I don't know though because But Taylor is the brand. Pork Roll is the food. So, then it's pork roll. That's I don't say Kleenex tissues. I don't say Kleenex, facial tissues. I say either Kleenex or a tissue. I don't say band-aid, adhesive, bandage. I say band-aid or a bandage. Right. I pick a lane. You pick a lane. Right. Odd mom, too. I don't mean to lash out at your mother. She was probably a very sweet woman. Pick a lane, Mom. That said, pick a lane. All right. We want to know what your lane is on this. Politics be damned. Put the political part of this aside. And by the way, again, Erin Votes got a great story about this whole Cheddarelli uh Cheryl thing about Yeah. It's up on nj1015.com. But just you personally, you your family, your friends, your co-workers, whatever. Are you calling it pork roll or are you calling it Taylor Ham? And where is that dividing line anyway? Like what counties does it switch to being called pork roll? 1 800283101.5. So here inviting you to discover the f New Jersey 101.5. It's 537. It's Jeff and Kylie with you. And we're talking about this crazy governor's race story about the Taylor Ham versus Pork Roll. But that's not really what Chedarelli was saying. Cheddarelli was trying to make it sound like uh oh well, you're not from Jersey because you hate pork roll. But that's not what Mikey Shar was saying. She was asked in an interview, does she call it Taylor Ham or pork roll? If you play the full tape as we did, that's what she was actually answering. So, what do you guys call it? Do you call it Taylor? Do you call it pork roll? Where is that dividing line? 1 800283101.5. Chris in Port Reading, you're on New Jersey. 101.5. Hey JK, what's going on? Hey Chris or excuse me, hey C. Yeah, that's good. Listen, very, very simple. Very simple. Carol's the company. Poor girl is the product. If you don't know it's pork roll, then get the hell out of Jersey. [Music] I mean, you're right. Taylor is the Right. Right. Right. It's not Taylor Ham, it's Taylor pork roll. And you're right. Right. I mean, and and Kylie said it herself. It's like band-aid versus adhesive bandage. One is a product, one is the name. Right. I don't I just don't know what her confusion is for the last 50 years. But, you know, that's Jersey for you. Isn't it weird? It's like looking at the same It's like talking to a colorblind person where you're like, "This is blue." And they're like, "It looks gray." And you're like, "But it's blue." And they're like, "It's gray." It's like, "No, it's it's pork roll." Okay. Chris, in your opinion, in your opinion, where in New Jersey geographically, like what counties do they start calling it Taylor Ham? I I would say from where I'm at, from Middle Sex down, North B like North Jersey, all them, they're not with Jersey. They don't know. They don't know what's going on. See, I feel like it's um Bergen County, Essex County, Payic County, those in particular. I feel like they're Taylor Ham. And the thing is too, like if it was called, you know, Smith, would it this company was Smith? Would it be Smith's Taylor Ham? Exactly. Smith would be the company and Pork Roll would be the product, right? So, it's pork roll. Hands down. Done. All right. I'm with you, Chris. Pork roll all the way. Thank you for calling New Jersey 10 a 1.5. Okay, I have something else I'm going to throw out here as we're talking about this. Do you say tailor ham or do you say pork roll? But also, do you say sub or do you say hogy? Well, hold on. And where is that dividing line? It would be hogi. Well, hogy, right? A coke and a hogi. But where is that dividing line? How far south do you have to travel before you're going to call it a hogy? A hei and not a sub. The stuff you put onto your ice cream. Oh, this one I find very controversial. Sprinkles. But how far south do you have to travel before you start calling them jimmies? Why do you find that controversial? Just why would you call it a Jimmy? I don't think it was until I started working here that I had heard that. And I had gone I had grown up going to Wildwood in Kate May. It's not like I hadn't been to South Jersey. I had been to Philadelphia. I just I had never heard Jimmy's. They're sprinkles. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, well, I'm with you. I'm with you. 1 800283101.5. Mel in Somerset. You're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. Good afternoon. Hey, Mel. So, I grew up in summer um Hunter County and we called it pork roll, but I think it was because my mom bought the Shopright brand and not the Taylor brand, not the Taylor brand. Yes. Right. And my kids grew up in Somerset County and they call it Taylor Ham. Oh. Oh. The house divided. Now that's weird. Go ahead. The reason for that is because the delies here when they advertise it. So if you go get an egg sandwich, it says Taylor Ham. Mhm. So that's why they call it Taylor Ham because they would go get an egg sandwich at a deli and it's up on the board and it says Taylor Ham. Well, yeah. Well, the deli was wrong. The diner was wrong. The restaurants are wrong. They're all wrong. Everybody's wrong. Okay, Mel. Now, two wrongs don't make a right. Now, I have to ask about what Jeff brought up. When you order ice cream, if you were to get a certain topping on it, would it be sprinkles or jimmies? It's sprinkles. And it's a hogy. Wait a minute. A hogy. But you grew up in Hunter. That's right. We called it a hogy. How are you calling it a hogy all the way up in Hunter County? I don't know. Go figure. Right. Oh, now it's cats living with dogs. This is This is up is down, down is up. I don't mean to make fun of this, Mel, but you might be Jersey bipolar. I am Jersey 100%. For generations and generations. Yeah. No, I believe it. But yeah, I'm not. It's hot takes all around. I think you're not sure which part of Jersey you're from. Mel, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5 and being a good sport. I feel like her left leg is from South Jersey and her three other limbs are from North. I don't get it. Uh let's talk to uh Flo in Union. You're on New Jersey one.5. Yes. Hi. I was just getting back to you on the Union County. I think it's Taylor Ham. That's the way I always knew it. I was Taylor Ham. Egg and cheese all the way. Wait a minute. What part of Union County? Right in Union. I'm sorry. Right in Union. Oh, in Union. Okay. That's more northern Union County, isn't it? I don't know. I think it is. Do you do you code switch flow? If you go to somewhere in central and south Jersey, do you switch to saying pork roll? Or if even if it's on the menu, do you say tailor ham? No. If it's on the menu pork roll, I do it because I want to make sure I get it what I want. Smart. But I know it's Taylor ham. Does it Does it make you a little like it gives you a little pause? You're like, "Oh, can I have a pork roll?" Yes. Yes. For sure. And uh is it is it Sub for you or Hogy? I grew up with Sub. That makes sense. So I'm guessing you also grew up with Sprinkles as opposed to Jimmy's. Believe it or not, that I'm torn. Yes, I say sprinkles, but my husband says Jimmy's and we grew up, you know, pretty we're all in Union County. Oh, what is going on? We say so. I'm like, no, it's not a Jimmy when you go outside. And I looked and I looked it up on a map, by the way, while Kylie was talking to you. And yeah, Union is fair fairly close to the Essex County line. So I think you're I think you're getting unduly influenced. I don't mean to get personal flow, but do you have kids? I do have kids. Do they say sprinkles or jimmies? Whose side do they take? They say they say sprinkles. Oh, yeah. You're raising them right. You're raising them right. You've done a good flow. Yeah. Thank you so much for calling New Jersey one a 1.5. We're having a bit of What were you going to say? I was just going to say, uh, if the mother is sprinkles, you raise them sprinkles. That's how it goes. Like Judaism. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Jewish people. Yeah. Got it. Got it. So, we're doing a bit of a classic Jersey debate here. Not only the pork roll vailor ham based on the Mikey, Cheryl, and Jack Cherelli, you know, wedding match over the weekend. But also, sprinkles, jimmies. I'll throw in is there a central jersey? Is it a sub or is it a hogi? 1800283 101.5. It's Jeff Deinsky now. When you want a roof, come. 552. Jeff and Kylie hanging out with you. Soon it's going to be Danny giving you all your New Jersey news updates. That's less than 8 minutes away. Right now, we're doing a bit of a a Jersey battle. We're doing battle right now based on the Jack Cherelli, Mikey, Cheryl, Pork Roll, Taylor Ham Kurfuffle that was on social media over the weekend. So, help us settle some Jersey debates. 1800283 101.5. Lauren in Franklin, you're in New Jersey 101.5. Hi. Um, so I grew up in Ocean County and it's uh pork roll, sprinkles, and subs. Although I have to say I think the school menu used to say hogies. Oh, boo. Someone should be fired for that blunder. Was it southern Ocean County or you not even really quite sure? Uh, it it was it was Bayville, so towards the south. Mhm. Does it always give you pause, Lauren, when someone says Jimmy's? That's the one I can get behind the least. Yeah, but I, you know, I worked with uh I I used to work in Mercer County and so there were a lot of those folks out there who um would say Jimmy's and also they pronounce crayon like crown. Oh. Oh god. Or the people who say crane or who say draw like draw. Yeah. went to school with a kid like that in my neighborhood when I was a kid. Draw. Shut up with draw. My mom's aunt Linda. I remember growing up being like, "What did she just say?" Yeah. Be like, "I I know I'm the, you know, six-year-old here, but I think the elder is incorrect." Yeah. You're you're kind of giving me a verb here. Lauren, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Linda in Hillsboro, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Not the affforementioned Aunt Linda. Hi. Um, so I've lived in Somerset County my whole life. It is pork roll sub. Um, if they're multicolored, it's sprinkles. If it's if they're brown, it's a jimmy. And no, it's brown sprinkle. It's brown sprinkles. No. If you go shopping and buy them, it says chocolate jimmies. Boo. Wait, someone actually wrote it. Okay. I've heard this theory before. I don't buy it. Linda, someone is backing you up on the New Jersey 101.5 app. Tina in Burlington is saying Rainbow Sprinkles Chocolate Jimmies. Yeah, we got to get rid of that app. We have to get We've got to shut that app down. Are you happy? And it's it's Waw Wa all day. As opposed to QuickJack for me. Yeah. Better better food at Waw Wa. I love a Waw Wa. Although I will say Quick Check gas station attendance. Yeah, that's the one thing you love about QuickJack. Always incredibly polite. I love their subs as well, but the quick the attendance. Linda, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. Squeeze in one more. Uh yeah, Kesha in Lynon. Hey Kesha, we got about half a minute if you can make it quick. Okay. All right. So it is t I grew up in the Texas Union County area. So it is Taylor subs and sprinkles. And I worked in a ice cream parlor. I've never heard anyone refer to them as jimmies. However, on the school menu, it did say hogy. Oh, really? Oh, bad. Bad. But you got two out of the three right. But you're wrong about Taylor Ham. Hey, two out of three ain't bad. Yeah, thank you for keeping it quick. We appreciate you calling New Jersey 101.5. Stay with us for Danny's news right now. An alarming number of people in New New Jersey time. It is 610. It's a Monday evening and we are Dinsky and more. I'm Jeff Deinsky. I'm Kylie Moore. Uh you could call in at 1800 283101.5. Um I saw your article from a couple of days ago. I was a little late to the table with this one, but I agree with you. This candy article, this survey that was done, there are some weird choices in this. I I have thoughts, right? Right. Uh yeah, it doesn't really make any sense. Uh, somebody somebody took on the task of coming up with the the favorite Halloween candy in every state. And some of what is listed here, and I know this is I mean you're you you're reporting on the study. This is not your opinion. Like like I get that. But some of what's in here, first of all, it's either not even candy or it's not what I would call Halloween candy. Mhm. Right. Do you agree? Yes. Like one of them, and you could read this for yourself, it's on Kylie's page or the DNM page, nj115.com. One of them was listed as Oreos. That's not candy. That's a cookie. A cookie is not candy. And as I as I put in the article, don't get me wrong, I love me a double stuff. I'll dip it in peanut butter and I will be the happiest you've ever seen me. Actually, however, yeah, go ahead. Is it a candy? It's not. That's not a candy. And then some of the other ones. Um, a Lindor. You know those? Oh, those I can mess with. I would love to get those for Halloween. Right. But Lindor truffles, those are like too high fallutin. Those It would have to be a really bougie neighborhood. Right. Exactly. Exactly. Like it would have to be like I don't know, like you're walking around Princeton or something. Maybe even maybe even above Princeton. You think you're winning big getting a king-size candy bar? Imagine getting Lindor chocolate. Oh, the hazelnut. That's just not That's just not what people give out for uh almost one of the only normal ones here is a Hershey's chocolate bar. Okay, that's fine. But a lot of the other ones, all right, a Fifth Avenue, that's fine. But but there there are others in that what they say are the favorite Halloween candy. They're either not really what you would think of as Halloween candy or it's not candy at all. It's a weird weird study, but you can check that out on nj1015.com. But I would like to do something before we get out of here. It's Monday. I kind of want to start the week a little bit, you know, more fun, more light, right? Do you remember um do you remember how we have those uh effects to uh to judge? Give either a thumbs up or a thumbs down type thing. If I didn't remember, that would give me a Yeah, that would be a thumbs down. But thankfully, I do remember that we have those. That would be a right. That would be the thumbs up. Exactly. Okay. So, here's what I would like to do. It is absolutely getting to be the time of year that people are going to start doing their Halloween candy shopping. Okay. Now, think back either when you were a kid or what you like to, you know, uh, steal out of your kids trick-or- treat bag as an adult. You know, give us your favorite Halloween candy and we'll give it either a thumbs up or a thumbs down. We just want to Yes. We want to be judgy. We want to be judgy McJudge here at 1800283101.5. Just for fun, what is one of your favorite Halloween candies? 1800283101.5. I always got really excited to see nerds. Almost. You are a big nerds fan. Almost anything Wonka outside of Laffy Taffy. Mhm. Especially O. Banana Laffy Taffy gets a Right. Well, but no, anytime there's like that little box of nerds that Yeah. I know everyone else would just do it like a shot. Like the little box all in one go. Oh, that's how to do it. Yes. It's too much. How do you do it? like one or two at a time. Okay, that that gets a that what? That gets it. Not the nerds. The way you're eating them gets that. The nerds themselves, they get a they get a Yeah. Yeah. But the way you're eating them, that gets a thumbs down. You don't do They're so tiny. They're so tiny. It's like eating a flea for God's sakes. One or two at a time. To that I say, now go home and get your shine box. Okay, now we're just getting carried away here. All right. Now, wait. I don't I don't I I think this is safe. I think I'm not going to steal anybody's thunder by saying this one cuz I I would I would assume that this is nobody's favorite Halloween candy. What would you judge? Neco wafers. Oh, same. Same. That's a double thumbs down. Why don't I just eat chalk? Right. The nec wafers. I don't know. I want to say that they're made in New Jersey somewhere, but I'm not really sure of that. Um, but the thing of Neco wafers is it's that thing. It almost looks like if anybody remembers like an oldfashioned roll of quarters when you used to take money to the bank and like like you would have to like put them in in like coin wrappers. It almost like looks like that sort of shape. and it was like a waxy paper and you would open it up and these things tasted like they were manufactured before World War II. They were stale. They were chalky. They were they were brittle. And somehow they're trying to sell us that these are brand new. These were just made. I I can never buy it. They were awful, man. There's nar flavor. Oh, yeah. There's no favor. Yes. They have different colors. Right. Right. But it almost looks like it was what was left over at the bottom of the food dye bottle. Yeah. Yeah. They were never vibrant colors. They were very washed out, pale neco wafers among the worst Halloween candy. It was like not only were these made, as you said, before World War II, but they were left out in the sun. Yeah, exactly. Right. Not a flavor, not a color to be found. Right. All right. So, just for fun, give us give us one of your give us one of your favorite Halloween candies. 1800283101.5. Karen in Flemington, you're on New Jersey. 101.5. Hi. How are Hey, Karen. What's up? How you doing? Good. Good. So, my favorite is always Harbo gummy bears and Twix and Reese's Pizzas. Reese's peanut butter cups, I should say. Reese's Pizza. Oh, you said you said Haribo gummy bears, right? They have to be. They're the best. Yes. So, hold on. Gummy bears. They are the absolute best. Twix. And you said Reese's. Okay. Reese's. Yeah. Peanut butter cups. Jeeoff, if there are three on this one, do we want to do a friend Mary kill or stick with the thumbs up, thumbs down? Um, well, I would absolutely kill, no offense, the Haribou gummy bears. Those are the worst gummies ever. And and and I'm not and I'm not even judging them against THC gummies. I'm saying like actual gummies for kids. Oh, I and and you know who loves them? My son Jack loves them. He's in his third year in college. Loves Haribo. I don't understand people who like them really. So that would be the Yeah. Well, do you like them, Kylie? Do you know what those are? No, I do. I I they're they're fine. I just I can't I wouldn't I wasn't expecting a 1920-year-old to love them. Twix. I would um Twix I would friend the Reese's. I would marry. What about you, Ka? Oh, see, as much as they have their place, I am also killing the gummies. I'm going to marry the Twix. You're with me. I'm going to marry the Twix and I'm going to friend the Reese's. I used to love Reese's. And I think the Reese's eggs are superior to regular Reese's, but they've just fallen out of favor with me. I don't know. Really? Huh? You had them too much? I don't know. You know what? Actually, Karen, that might be it. I loved Reese's growing up. We are up against traffic, Karen, but thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. We appreciate it. All right, call it call us up and just give us give us one of your favorite Halloween candies and uh we'll uh we'll see if we have a meeting of the minds. We'll give it a thumbs up or a thumbs down. 1 800283 101.5 619. Here's fast traffic. Zombies Shark New Jersey 101.5. Oh man. Um Judy and EJ today. They were doing a whole I mean speaking of like Halloween C. They they were doing a whole hour on how much they both hate Halloween. Staunchly anti-h Halloween. Who hates Halloween? Uh Judy and EJ. But I hate other than that. Yes. And a little bit. Kyle. He wasn't fully committing. Oh no. You're right. You're right. I remember that. I remember that. But he was saying he's not dressing up. He will get candy in case kids come around. But he was like, I don't. Yeah. I mean, but when we're a kid, didn't we all love it? At least when we were kids. Free candy. Just bang on a door, yell, and you get free candy. I mean, at least when you're a kid, you got to love it. Not if you're Charlie Brown. Well, true. But we want to know at 1800 283101.5. This is because of an article that Kylie had up a couple days ago. Uh there was some study that was done that uh gave like the top five most favorite candies in uh in New Jersey and yeah both of us think that it was kind of way off but what what is one of your favorite Halloween candies? 1 800283101.5 and forgive us but we'll go to the judging table once you tell us your candy. Alexa, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. How are you? Hey. Hey. What's up, Alexa? Um, I say sugar babies. Uh, wait, I think I remember. Could you describe them to make sure I'm judging this the right way? It's the same coloring packaging as milk does. Um, it's the same caramel center, but it's a tiny package with little round like almost jelly bean shape with a candy coating around the caramel. Yeah, I remember this. Mhm. Yeah. Well, um I mean I don't know what Kylie's going to judge this as, but as far as I'm concerned, you know what? Sugar babies. cuz that's kind of whack. I'm looking at pictures of them now. I can't remember the last time I had them, but I do like I do like a caramel and I don't mind a candy coating. So, I'm going to I'm going to say what? Oh, it's a split decision. And it's a split decision, Alexa. If I have them this Halloween and I decide that I don't like them and you hear me like a month from now being like, "H, sugar babies are disgusting." This isn't fake news at time present right now. I think I agree with you. Say that. Yeah. Yeah. She reserves the right to change her mind as we all should. But no, you know what? They're based on the Google images that I'm looking at, they're looking kind of good. So, no, wait a minute, Alexa. So, you're saying like you got your you got your trick-or- treat bag. You're a kid, right? You got sugar babies and next to it, you've got a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. You're going to go for the sugar babies. I am. Wow. Wow. Yeah. I'm Wow. I'm like a big Sweet Tart girl. The chewy sweet tart. But a sweet But a sweet tart's nothing like a sugar baby, is it? Well, look, you know. No, it's not. It's But it's chewy. But what you probably remember are the sugar daddies. The big taffy of caramel. I don't know. Babies, daddies, sugar mamas. I don't know. I don't know what I'm thinking of. I'll be honest. When you first said it, Alexa, I was picturing sugar daddies, and that's why I I looked it up. Oh, no. Are you Wait, are you changing your vote? No. I mean, when she first brought it up, that's why I gave like the Oh, no. I got you. I got you. And then it's that that's when I looked it up that I said like, "Oh, okay. I can get behind." Yeah, cuz sugar daddies kind of they look overwhelming. They look intimidating. I'm intimidated by a sugar daddy. Isolate that audio. Wait. He said, she said. Make that. Ah, I finally have one. I'm intimidated by a sugar daddy. Put that in Put that in your notes. That is going down. We got to do that this Friday. We have to do a hea. Finally, I have one. I have so many for you. I am intimidated by a sugar daddy. That is perfect. Alexa, thank you for the inspiration and thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. That's great. I am intimidated. Oh, you talk to Chance while I write that down. Chance in Cold Snack. You're on New Jersey 101.5. Hey, Chance. What's up, man? Hello. Not much, sir. How you doing tonight? Happy uh preh Halloween. Uh, happy preh Halloween to you. I'm excited. Okay. Um, so you think that would either the stuff you'll steal from your kid if you if you've got a kid or that you wanted to see in your trick-or- treat bag. What? I'm going with what I wanted to see in my trick-or- treat bag. Remember the big flat Jolly Ranchers that you could suck on and make a retainer in the top of your mouth and they turn into razor blades? Yes. Yeah. Oh, the perfect description. Why? But you like those things. Those things were the ultimate. That was like, hell yeah. How in God's name was that the ultimate? Because it just was. It was better than a ring pop. It was better than freaking I don't know. Freaking Hey, we're glad that he said that. It was better than a lot of things. Okay. As someone who has a ring pop in her bag right now, I resent that. Oh, yeah. He's calling you out. Is it a watermelon? It is the watermelon. Oh my god, that's fantastic. I can't believe you called that. That was incredible. Wait, Jeff, you've seen it. You know that that's what that is, I guess. Yeah, I never really paid attention to the flavor, but those are those are delicious. Okay, Chance. Yes, sir. I'm so Wait. Well, are you going over for your Are you trying to get it out? Keep talking. Just know and curse. You're actually getting out your ring pup. What about it? Um, I don't have one. Yeah. So, uh, I'm sorry. I'm in a car, though. I could go get one, man. I'm I'm just saying, man. Jolly Ranchers. No. No. I'm sorry. I I'm sorry. No. Flat Jolly Ranchers. Not Jolly Ranchers. The flat ones. Still. Still. Boom. Yeah, I see it. Watermelon ring popup, baby. I see it. I see it. But yeah, Chance, I'm sorry. I being recorded. I got to give you Okay. Yeah, I'm sorry. I think I think Kylie's with you, though. I think she's Yeah, another split decision. Another split decision. Chance, thanks for calling New Jersey. One more thing. One more thing real quick. Up against New York. The pork roll teller ham debate. Yeah. It's not It's not a um like a longitude or latitude line. It's not a location. It's low IQ. If you if you got a low IQ, it's Teller Ham. Oh. Oh, shots fired. Oh, shots fired at Mikey Cheryl. Look at that. Wow. All right. Hey, Chance. Thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5. And thanks for reminding me that I had this ring pop. All right. So, give us your uh give us one of your favorite Halloween candies. And uh we'll uh we'll uh we'll run it before the judges here. 1 800283101.5. Somebody painted one of our service profins and Kylie Moore. It's spooky season, which means we're talking about Halloween candy because I put up a post on the DNM page last week about what is apparently New Jersey's most popular candy for Halloween 2025 according to a study, but Jeff and I are questioning the study. So, we want to know what's actually the New Jersey area's favorite candy. 1800283101.5. Yeah, too many of these studies today, they just go by like data from Google searches. How do they know that? Okay, maybe somebody's doing a Google search. Maybe maybe they're actually thinking like, "Hey, what was that awful candy that we hated as kids? Let's Google that." I mean, like, how do they really know that that means it's your favorite? So, we would rather just ask you. Hey, Jeff. What? Don't question these studies. I need posts. Be cool, man. Be cool. 18 I'll be cool like Samuel L. 1 800283101.5. What are some of your favorite Halloween candies? Linda in Punksatonyi, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Hi. I love Charleston shoes. Charleston. Oh, Linda. Yeah. Marshmallow covered in chocolate. I love this. If you freeze them, they're awesome. Pretend you're on uh pretend you're on uh what what is that show called? The Shark Not Shark Tank. Shark. Oh, it is Shark Tank. Yeah. Pretend you're on that show, Shark Tank, and and you're and you're pitching Charleston shoes to us. Give Give us your best selling points about Charleston shoes. Well, they come in three different flavors: strawberry, chocolate, chocolate, or vanilla covered in chocolate. You can freeze them, and if you snap them, they crack into a million pieces and they're great over ice cream. And they're just an allaround really good candy, but I don't want to eat it. Okay. So far, Linda, the only selling point there was ice cream, and you're just selling me on having ice cream. Yeah. Really? Right. Which isn't even Charleston. I just always love these candies. They've been They're very like a um a candy from my childhood. So, and and face it. When I was a kid, like back in the 70s, candy was not good. So, these things were amazing. Wait, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Candy was not good. What? No, they they gave us those stupid bottles with the battery acid Kool-Aid in them that you used to bite the top of. Oh, wait. I have to tell you about waxy like crap. The bottle caps that you would like eat like chalk. Guess who liked those little waxy bottles that you would suck the battery acid juice out of? Guess who liked those? Kylie. Kylie did. Kylie actually kind of fun. What does that mean, Linda? I will agree. I mean, we didn't have choices, but for people your age, it's kind of like a niche. Try this cool thing. But when we were kids, we didn't have different options. There was like that and like, I don't know, six other candies, and none of them were amazing or anything. No, I think there were plenty. I mean, there were bad ones, too, but I think there were good. All right. I'm candy lipsticks. Come on now. Yeah. You know what? Were those even candies? What were those waxy lip things? Those I can't get. Waxy listings were literally just wax. They were like regular wax like you could burn in a candle. Yeah. Literally they would use it to it was food grade because like you could melt wax and put it on top of a jelly to preserve it and it was that kind of thing. It was it was a food grade wax. So you were so so you could eat it but you weren't supposed to eat it. Like what? You were supposed to chew it and spit it out cuz it was like a gumlike product that they talked us into eating when we were children. Oh my. I never knew what you were supposed to do with those lips. Speaking of candy/gum, Linda, how do you feel about razles? They were big in the 80s. I like I like razles. Razles actually have a decent flavor and they turn into a piece of gum. Real gum. Okay. Thank you. Because I love razles and there's this um They're awful. There's this treat truck that comes by occasionally for station events called my treat truck and they have vintage candy and they have razles and every time I have to get them and anytime I've been like I'll share my candy with you co-workers who I consider my friends, everyone calls them trash. I love a razle. You can share them with me and my kids. We actually really like them. But I think that's what people try some of these candies cuz they're a vint nichy thing. But when we were kids, we were stuck with them. There wasn't like all the options there are now. Okay, first of all, and so for your Charleston shoes, this is my Oh, it gets a I gotta be honest, that's a double. Also, for your ra for your razles, it gets nay nigh neigh. Razles get a lease had a good flavor. True. Linda, thank you for calling New Jersey 101.5. I appreciate it. If they had gum. See, I'm not a big fan of gum because gum loses its flavor so quickly. I don't know why people enjoy gum. If they had gum that turned into a good candy, now you got something. That's just a bad piece of gum that doesn't say chewy. Razles. Razles does the opposite. It starts off with a tease and then all of a sudden it's like bait and switch. It tricks you and all of a sudden now all you got is a wad of tasteless gum in your mouth 2 minutes later. That's not a good candy. I don't know. I don't understand anybody that likes razles. Okay, I just had a weird uh synapse fire off. Speaking of my tree truck and the nostalgic candy, I literally had a dream last night where I was having candy cigarettes and I don't remember the context, but I know that that happened. Yeah. Why? Why was I thinking of those? I don't know. I didn't have candy before bed. I don't smoke cigarettes. I have no idea. I can't. But I I distinctly remember I had a dream where I was opening up a box of candy cigarettes and someone was just like, "Oh, we don't make those anymore." And I was like, "We have them right now. Let's go." By the way, candy cigarettes. That's a That's a Oh, candy cigarettes are the bomb. Oh, yeah. Those have less flavor than razles. How dare you? Oh, please. They do not. They're far better. They're far far better. Okay, that's just like your opinion, man. All right, we're talking about your favorite Halloween candy. Give us an example of uh a really good Halloween candy, please. 1800 283101. Gold prices are at an alter. New Jersey 101.5. Halloween on its way. And uh we're talking about Halloween candy. Again, if you want to see this crazy report that both Kylie and I doubt as far as what the top favorite Halloween candies are for New Jersey, I think you'll find it pretty silly, too. But, uh, she's got that up on mj1015.com. But, give us one of your favorite Halloween candies, and we'll see what our judges think. Rick in Brick, you're on New Jersey 101.5. Us being the judges. Hey. Hey, Rick. How are you? Okay. I was calling about Sweet Tarts. Okay. Yes. Your opinion. You love them? I love them. They're addicting. You know what I mean? You can eat the whole roll of them if you want. Okay. Jeff is going to judge me on this one, but I'm going to ask you, Rick. Do you eat them one at a time or do you do multiple? Multiple. Yeah, you got to go. I will never have someone on my side on this one. You got to go multiples, Kylie. You haven't lived until you've had multiples. What if they're different colors? Doesn't matter. You just eat them and end up eating the whole roll of them. Okay, Rick, this is this is my score. Kylie, what about you? I'm going to make that a double. Oh, okay. But but but yet she's going one at a time like a lameo. Guys, maybe I like to savor my sweethearts. I don't want to get rid of the roll right away. Come on, live a little. They go quick. Yeah, not the way I do it. All right. Hey, hey, Rick. We appreciate your call and thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5. All right. All right, Kylie, I've got a speed round for you. Okay. Now, this this will just be you judging. Just you. So, no thinking music. Just pass fail. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Just Yeah. Just pass fail. This is Kylie's opinion. I'm just going to do this. It's going to be a speed round. Tootsie Rolls. The big ones or the smaller ones? The average size ones. Like Okay. I don't know. The tiny ones. Yeah, the tiny ones. Yeah, they're awful. Uh, Almond Joy or Almond Mounds? Dots. Do you know what dots are? I do. Yeah. How about those dots? They're like They're like inferior gummies. They're like stale gummy. They're like gummies that got ran over by a truck and left in a warehouse for 5 years. Wait, dots? Aren't those the ones that are on the piece of paper? No, no, no, no, no. These guys. Oh. Oh, God. Those those dots. Mhm. What am I thinking of? What are those called? I don't know, but I know what you're talking about. I never knew what the name of those was, but Right. It's like you peel them off and there's always a little piece of the paper backing on the back of the little dot. Yeah. I mean, like it's it it's like the dots on paper, but these are like just the dots that are the gummies. Okay. Uh, good and plenty. Runs. Oh, they're so good. Right. Love runs, right? Okay. Smarties. Oh, Smarties. Yeah. Milk duds. Oh, Lord. All right, we're going to leave it with We're going to leave it with two. Junior Mints. Mint is a business flavor. Should not be involved with pleasure. Agreed. And finally, candy corn. Miss me? I can't believe we're ending on candy corn. What a sour way to go out. I know. Okay. Well, well, I go get mad and seam on the way home. Steve Trevol is coming up after Danny Dresensenos on New Jersey. What a 1.5. We'll talk to you tomorrow.
