Living on food stamps can be a daunting challenge, particularly in New Jersey, where the average benefit is around $193 a month or roughly $45 a week. With these limited resources, individuals must adopt strategic shopping habits and creative meal planning just to survive. The struggles of individuals relying on food assistance highlight the pressing issue of food insecurity, which has only intensified as government funding for assistance programs faces uncertainty.

The Reality of Limited Resources

Imagine being tasked with feeding yourself for a week on just over $40. What would that look like? For many, it involves making tough choices at the grocery store, focusing on items that provide the most nutritional value for the least amount of money. It's about buying in bulk and choosing products that can be used in multiple dishes.

Strategic Shopping Tips

Many listeners have shared valuable tips, revealing a community of support and understanding. Here are some practical strategies for making food stamps stretch further:

  • Buy in Bulk: Purchasing items like rice, beans, and pasta in bulk can significantly reduce costs and provide multiple meals.
  • Focus on Protein: Items like eggs, canned tuna, and legumes are often cheaper sources of protein that can keep you satiated.
  • Utilize Frozen Vegetables: These can be more affordable than fresh produce and have a longer shelf life, making them a practical choice.
  • Meal Planning: Planning meals around what's on sale or in season helps maximize the budget. Create dishes that use the same ingredients in different ways.
  • Creative Cooking: Experimenting with different spices, sauces, and cooking methods can make basic ingredients more enjoyable and appealing.

Community Support

The conversation around food stamps often reveals personal stories of resilience and creativity. Many individuals express feelings of isolation and shame when navigating the system, yet they also share moments of community and collaboration. Food banks, local organizations, and supportive networks play vital roles in helping those struggling to make ends meet.

Conclusion

In New Jersey, with rising food prices and limited SNAP benefits, understanding how to stretch grocery budgets is crucial for many families. The challenge of living on food stamps is not just about financial constraints; it's also about maintaining dignity and access to nutritious food. As discussions continue about food insecurity and government assistance, the importance of community, creative meal planning, and advocacy for better support systems cannot be overstated. Together, individuals can share their experiences and solutions to navigate these challenges while fostering a stronger community.

What the hell are you doing here? From the streets of Union City to your nighttime radio, Steve Treise keeps you in the Jersey know [Applause] from 7 till 11 local [Music] 101.5 week night Steve's loud golden Call at 1 800283101.5. [Music] Here we are Tuesday night in New Jersey. Steve Trevalis. Another great day in the great state of great night in New Jersey and we talk about it at 1800 283101.5. Tonight we'll talk about the movie memorabilia we'd all love to have. The traffic staple is making a comeback in New Jersey and how you feel about it. and uh we'll try to live on a government aotment of food stamps in New Jersey for one week. We did this a long time ago. We're going to try and do it again tonight. But first, the endorsements are coming for our gubanatorial candidates. The election is three weeks away and uh the presidents have weighed in. President Trump is endorsing Republican Jack Chidarelli. Former President Barack Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl. Have you ever been swayed by an endorsement? When you think about the uh the power that uh those endorsing think they have, especially the Hollywood celebrities who all came out for Kamla, right? Bruce was playing a concert. Bon Joy played a concert. Bruce played Bruce Bruce has played so many concerts for so many losing candidates going back to like John Kerry. But regardless of that, uh do the endorsements really matter? Uh, President Trump took to Truth so Truth Social uh, his account on Monday night to back Jack Chitterelli saying Jack Chidarelli is a winner for New Jersey. Mikey Cheryl is the exact opposite. Uh, a stone cold loser who will drive your energy cost through the roof just like the Democrats are doing all over the country. But even more so because she has no understanding of what she's doing, which was a lot nicer than some of the other things Trump has said about people who don't know what they're doing. They don't know what the they're doing, but she has no understanding of what she's doing. Don't get confused. Now, uh, former President Barack Obama coming to New Jersey. He's going to show up on November 1st to campaign with Mikey Cheryl. He's hit the campaign trail in four of his last five gubernatorial elections in New Jersey. Uh, he has a nationwide favorability rating of 59% per Gallup poll. Now, President Trump's approval rating in New Jersey uh is bigger than um than Phil Murphy's. Uh Emerson College poll of likely Garden State voter has Trump's approval rating at 41 while Murphy managed just a 35% approval rating. So, uh my question to you 1800283101.5, does any of this mean anything to you? Whose endorsement do you think carries more weight in the upcoming gubanatorial election? President Trump endorsing Republican Jack Chidarelli or former President Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl? And have you ever been swayed by an endorsement? We just had the uh the No Kings March this weekend. So, there are a lot of people took to the streets talking about how much they uh basically showing you how much they disapprove of President Trump. Uh, is that more or less the amount of people who stayed home and supported President Trump? Is there anybody whose endorsement would mean anything to you? I mean, for me, I just I pick who I want to pick and that's who I go with. Doesn't matter who tells me what to vote. Yet, by the same token, you know, there are we're more I think swayed by friends and relatives than we ever would be by celebrity. um who sways you like whose opinion do you trust? Who do you listen to? But in this situation, whose endorsement do you think would carry more weight? Barack Obama uh for Mikey Cheryl? How much do you trust Barack Obama? What's your opinion of Barack Obama since he's left office? the Barack Obama opinion uh in 2008 uh 2012 much different 2016 I'm sorry much different than the uh Barack Obama opinion now and as far as President Trump you know people is President Trump's endorsement of Jack Chidarelli going to help him or hurt him and uh should Donald Trump come to New Jersey as Bill Spy was saying to campaign for Jack Chidarella Would Trump being here put Chitterelli over the top? 1 800283101.5. You know, like I said, it really comes down to uh who you like. But this is the time now. We got three weeks left. You're going to see a lot of celebrities coming. You're going to see a lot of big names back in these candidates. Who are the ones that would sway you? And uh of these two, who do you put more stock in? Barack Obama or President Trump? Michelle is in Westfield. You Trump person, Michelle? Oh, I sure am, Steve. I I really I I listen to what President Trump does because he's doing such an excellent job of getting back to family values, religion, just normaly in America that I I haven't had to worry so much about what the heck is going on so much anymore except for these celebrities that are just really ripping them apart. like a Robert Dairo. I do not understand how he was able to say the things that he said without getting sued for a sound character. It it's it's a it's a sound bite. You know, he gets to say F Trump and the media picks it up and suddenly Robert Diero is back in the in the limelight. The whole job of these celebrities is to stay in front of people. It's to remain in the limelight and and that's basically how he does it. But I mean like you know Hollywood thought in the election that they were easily going to sway people's votes because everybody came out all of Hollywood all of celebrity came out and backed com and it meant nothing. Anything that they they supported in Kamala as we saw in the results it meant nothing. So I really even wish Barack Obama would just retire and um you know he had his time. He he served two four years, you know, terms and please just be done. Well, you know what this is? I'll tell you by the time you know we're going to get the statement. President Obama's uh coming to New Jersey now his statement. Hey New Jersey, it I'm going to read it because it would take him about a half hour to read it because he reads very slowly Obama. But I'm going to say I'm not going to imitate him. I'm just going to read it. Hey New Jersey, this is Barack Obama and I want to talk to you about my friend Mikey Cheryl. Mikey is a mom who will drive down the cost for New Jersey families. As a federal prosecutor and former Navy helicopter pilot, we know. We know she works to keep our community safe. Mikey's integrity, grit, and commitment to service is what we need right now in our leaders. Mikey Cheryl is the right choice for your next governor. So, go vote by November the 4th. Uh that was that was the Obama state. She's not the candidate, Steve. She's not the candidate for me. Jack's the candidate for me. And I'm disappointed by the fact that she didn't walk her graduation. Why didn't she walk her graduation? And how is she $7 million registered? Well, that's that that that's that's a different topic for other days which we've discussed. But Michelle, thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. Let's get uh Rich in Seville, a voice of reason. What are you thinking? Hey, what's up? Well, day two and we still don't have a king. The protests were Look at that. See that? They knew if we got those old gizers out there, something would happen. Oh yeah. They must have been protesting since since 1776. The over the hill. I mean, once a year. Yeah. I mean, once a year these people come out, nobody knows about it. We don't have a king. Mhm. There we go. And fantastic. And we won't have one tomorrow either. No. No. Hopefully not. I mean, you know, unless somebody takes over, you know, is is there any other kingdoms that, you know, is England going to try try it again? Well, there is Elvis. There is Elvis, but he's gone, too. What are you going to do? But, uh, the endorsements, I look at each individual by their own stats. Now, I I watch two of the debates. Jack at least has some answers. He, you know, he has thought behind it. He has a plan. The other one, she's like, "I'm going to fight Trump." And she tells you in in a in a way that she has a policy, but she doesn't tell you the policy. So, it's like, well, what are you actually going to do? You know, the the worst thing she could do is freeze the electric bills at the highest rates they've ever been and then instead of trying to lower them. I don't understand. You know what? You make a great point with that, Rich. Thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. I will freeze your electric. But wait a minute. Why don't we try to get it down instead of just freezing it there? But we can do that another time as well. But right now, Mike, my my question to you 180 to 283 101.5. Whose endorsement do you think carries more weight in the upcoming gubanatorial election? President Trump endorsing Jack Chidarelli or President Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl? I'm Steve Trevalis. This is New Jersey 101.5 Fast Travel on the night shift. Steve Trevol, you and me. It's 11:00 tonight. All right. Whose endorsement you think carries more weight in the gubanatorial election coming up? President Trump endorsing Jack Chidarelli. Former President Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl. And uh you've been swayed by an endorsement. There was once upon a time when Bruce tried to sway people with an endorsement. Uh, really it didn't work too much. It didn't work too well. But what are you going to do? Donald Trump is the most dangerous candidate for president in my lifetime. his disdain for the sanctity of our constitution, the sanctity of democracy, the sanctity of the rule of law, and the sanctity of the peaceful transfer of power should disqualify him from the office of president ever again. All right, there's the endorsement. He's not going to get another Christmas card. He won't be getting 1800 283101.5. You got You could always get us on the app chat, too, by the way. Tell us exactly what you think. I'll be taking apphats as well. Ryan and Freehold, I don't need a former president telling me how to vote. I'm voting based on what each candidate plans to do for property taxes. Good luck with that. Stephen Monroe uh thinks the endorsements are only good if they shock you. Give me a shocking endorsement, Steo. That that's the problem, you know, especially living in this state. In my lifetime, in 40some plus years, I haven't seen one yet. And it's no surprise. Nobody's surprised that Trump's, you know, endorsing red and Brock's endorsing blue. Like it that's not a shock. That's not like I I don't think that should sway anybody. And if it did, like and you're surprised by that. I I don't know. Like you're late to the party. It it's closing time, you know. Now, here's the thing, though. At the end of the day, I think what it comes down to, there's a there's a couple of variables. You're absolutely right in what you're saying. There's a couple of variables though in that Trump is endorsing Chidarelli. We just saw a whole bunch of people hit the streets talking about how much they don't like Trump. So, you know, they don't want to know Kings. So, basically, is Trump's endorsement of Chidarelli? Is this the right time for him to do that? Is he going to help or hurt Chitterelli? Uh, should he be here? Like, Obama's coming. So now now the other question too is at this point who cares about Obama? Uh or do they? Well, and that's the thing. Well, let's be honest. The the the no kings march that we had, we already know that overwhelmingly 95 plus more percent of what party they are and who they're voting for already in New Jersey for the ones that the rallies that took place in Jersey. That's like saying, "Oh, I'm surprised that number." No, no. My point is, is it going to help or hurt Jack? Like if if Jack's trying to run to distance himself, you think it's irrelevant? No. Yeah, because those parties they No, Jack didn't have any of those votes on those rallies regardless if Trump came out or not. They weren't on the fence. None of them are. All right. So, they're just going to blindly vote for Mikey, which sucks, but you're right. I I I think they're going to they're going to party Yeah. They're going to party vote. They're going to be, you know, just And but unfortunately, a lot of us in New Jersey, as much as we don't want to admit it, are doing it again. I mean, that's that's how it is. We have two really bad choices. It is like neither candidate has brought anything to the table. One's going to declare a state of emergency. That's like a baseball player saying, "Yeah, I need to hit the ball." Great. What are you going to do to hit the ball? Don't tell me what you got to do. I know what you got to do. Yeah. What about day What about day two? On day one, I'm going to What about day two? And Chitarelli hasn't and Chidarelli hasn't even come out saying he's going to do anything about it. No, he actually said he actually has a plan. But what is it? Like it's and if you have a plan, even if you don't get elected in your political position where you are, help us out in New Jersey, just as a politician of the state to get this going. It shouldn't take getting winning governor. Push it. Now, if it's a good idea, everybody on both sides of the fence, listen, I know I know a lot of families, including myself, getting six, seven, $800 electric bills this summer. Like, that's insane. We got to fix it, Jack. Yeah. Go, brother. No, I got it, buddy. Thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5. I got to get Jack Chidarelli's plan. Robbie, I mean, uh, Rob, see if you could pull up Jack's plan when he was on talking about what do you do for your electricity. He would pull out a CEC. Uh, let's go to John in Warren County. Hey, John. Hey, Steve. How's it going, buddy? Good, buddy. How are you? I'm pretty good. All right. What are you thinking? Is it going to make a difference or not? No. for candidates like Jack Chidarelli and even Mikey Cheryl, you know, um they're both they have some pretty good name recognition within both parties. You know, the only one that I if if Trump would have came out early and uh endorsed someone like Bill Spadia, who I really wanted to uh win the primary, unfortunately, he didn't. I am going to stick uh and go down party lines and uh vote for Jack. Um, but someone like uh Bill Spadia, more of a populist candidate like that. Um, someone Trump endorsing someone like that, I think it would it would help him solely based on getting his name out there. Someone like Jack, it's not going to help. Okay. But so you're thinking if Trump endorsed Bill, it would have helped because he endorsed Jack, it's not going to help. Exactly. Um, now the endorsements I think are are going to help, Jack, are the ones that go against party lines. like some of these mayors that are endorsing Jack now. I think that could help Jack Terelli based on the number of Democrats that are in the state of New Jersey. Hopefully some of them will listen to what some of these mayors are saying and maybe we'll get some Democrats to vote for Jackson earlier this year. No, that's a great point. The presidents are not here, right? But the politicians who are here that switched parties, you know, who deal with this every day and made that decision. I think you're right, John. Carries a lot more weight. Thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5283 101.5. Whose endorsement do you think carries more weight? All right, we got we got President Trump endorsing Jack Chidarelli, right? No shock there. We got former President Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl. Same thing. So, uh, what do you think? And are you ever swayed by an endorsement? is uh Danny D who I endor walk anyway you have to but get ye over to vote and you got the mail in voting you got the uh that you know November the 4th is when we're going to find out is it going to be Jack Chidarelli is it going to be Mikey Cheryl John asked earlier uh what is Jack going to do about electricity and uh Jack came on the show and discussed just that as governor, I'll end offshore wind and diversify our energy sources in New Jersey to once again include natural gas and nuclear. I'll rewrite our master plan and deliver safe, clean, and sustainable energy to everyone in our state at a price you can afford. All right, President Trump is back in Jack. President Obama is back in Mikey. Do endorsements mean anything to you? Not so much for Dan in Somerville. Hi, Dan. Hello, Steve. How are you? I am good. you. Yeah, I'm doing very well. You know, I I saw you in a comedy um with uh uh Dennis and Judy in Bound Brook, and you were a very entertaining guy. We we enjoyed ourselves that evening. Thank you. You're very Dennis, we're coming back to Bound Brook on November the 8th. Uh yeah, you know, my wife and I saw Dennis and Judy on the Atlantic City boardwalk. We can't get a guys. Oh, this is going to be We're going to be there November the 8th. Dennis, myself, Eric Pototts, I'm sorry, Dennis, myself, Freddy Verbino, and Buddha the comedian. Got to be a funny show. Brook Arts.org. Okay. So, what do you think about the endorsements? Eric Pots. I think he just talks about how to make sandwiches, right? He's a very hungry dude. So, so tell me, what do you think? You got to excuse my wife in the back right here, but I got to ask you, you're talking about endorsements, right? If we're going to talk about endorsements in New Jersey and you're working on the biggest uh conservative bullhorn in New Jersey, 101.5, which I understand gets to a million people. What's the guy in the morning doing about endorsements? Uh heavy. But this is the thing though. Do you know something? I don't know what it is. But the fact is that his of Dan Dan's not Dan's not going to let me talk. So I have to cut Dan off. Like I want to let Dan talk. Dan Dan's got he rehearsed this. He wrote it all down and he figured that he would give me the the compliment about the Dennis show, which I like, right? He gets me warm and then he says, "Okay, now I want to ask you a question." And he asked a question, but then he doesn't want to have a conversation. And then at that point, he just keeps reading off the script. And the more I say, "Dan, let me talk. Let me, you know, let's have a conversation. Are you calling to talk to me or do you want to read a statement?" Now, if you want to read a statement, I can do that cuz I have we have some ace people here, sales department second to none, who will give you they'll sell you time. You can come on here and you can say whatever you want. I would really love to talk to you, Dan, and anybody, but it only works if we can have a dialogue. You talk, I talk, and we go back and forth, you know. And as far as uh being a conservative radio station, you know, once upon a time, we really were a conservative radio station. Not so much anymore. When you look at the different shows and the different views of the different shows, uh, each has their own opinion. We've never been told what to say. We've never been told to have an opinion or which way to lean. We just naturally are who we are. Having said that, uh, when it comes to people calling in, we want to hear what you have to say, but we also want to interact with what you have to say because that's what conversation's all about. If you, Dan, want to know what Bill thinks or why Bill does what Bill does, I got an idea. Why not call Bill? He'll take your call. He'll put you on. Bill talks to everybody and anybody. I've seen it. You know, you're not going to rattle Bill. So, he'll be happy to answer your question, but I can't speak for Bill just like Bill can't speak for me. He can't do this accent. It's very, very difficult. 1 800 283101.5. So basically, whose endorsement do you think carries more weight? The endorsements are coming in. This is the endorsement of uh uh this is basically Barack Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl. Hey New Jersey, this is Barack Obama and I want to talk to you about my friend Mikey Cheryl. Mikey is a mom who will drive down costs for New Jersey families. As a federal prosecutor and former Navy helicopter pilot, she worked to keep our communities safe. Mikey's integrity, grit, and commitment to service are what we need right now in our leaders. Mike Cheryl is the right choice for your next governor. So, go vote by November 4th. And as a produced ad that has been running, and that's President Obama who's going to be coming here November the 1st. There's going to be a rally in Newark and he's going to be back in Mikey Cheryl. Now, President Trump has endorsed uh Jack on Truth Social and to which he says here, "Jack Chitterelli is a winner for New Jersey. Mike Cheryl is the exact opposite. A stone cold loser who will drive your energy cost through the roof just like the Democrats are doing all over the country, but even more so because she has no understanding of what she is doing." Uh that's President Trump. So, what did President Trump have to say about Jack? Well, thank you very much, Jack. And hello, New Jersey. Special place. you know that I stay there all the time. I live there a lot and uh it's been a very very incredible uh place to be as far as I'm concerned. I'm asking you to get out and vote for a true champion for the people of your state, Jack Chidarelli. He's been a friend of mine and uh he's been a real success story. That was uh back during the primaries. Uh the only thing we've got from Trump on Jack here is uh you know what he read from Truth Social. So the question here is uh a couple of things now. First of all, celebrity endorsements. Do you care? It didn't look like it that you cared in the last election uh in the presidential election because every celebrity under the sun came out and endorsed Kamala uh Kamala and uh it was Trump that ended up getting 311 electoral votes. So there's that. The other thing is as far as the presidents are concerned, uh, is it a good thing, you know, based on New Jersey being a blue state, uh, basically more of a purple state now since Trump got within six in the presidential election, uh, points that, uh, to have Trump endorsement, especially coming off this weekend where we had an Kings protest, uh, could it have waited? Is it going to work for Jack or against Jack or does it really matter? 1 800283101.5 from the app chat. Uh Eric in Bayville, I like Chidarelli's ideas, but Trump's endorsement doesn't really factor in. I make my own decisions, not emotional ones. Sharon and Hoboken, if a candidate needs a former president to speak for them, are they really ready? I want to hear directly from Mikey and Jack. And we've had debates about that. So if you're going to make up, you know, if you're going to decide what you're going to decide, it's about the people who haven't decided yet. Can a former president in sway that decision in any way? Peter is in Lawrence. Endorsements mean nothing to Peter. Right, Peter? Endorsements mean nothing to me. I vote on the integrity of the person and what they can do for me and the state. Now, it might mean something for someone else who is undecided or is unsure, but for me, I made up my mind the last primary. That's why I voted for Jack then. I voted for Jack four years ago and I still think he is the best qualified person to lead and bring the state back in the black and not the red. All right, Peter, thanks for the call. The New Jersey 101.5 from the App Chad. Nick in Morristown. Endorsements don't pay the bill. Show me a plan to fix our roads and lower energy costs. That's what I care about. What do you care about? 1 800283101.5. Would it help if uh President Trump actually came to New Jersey to campaign for Jack or would it matter? You know, and again, I think all these rallies and all it's it's it's a fun day. It's a story to tell. You know, you came, you had a great time, maybe you met the candidate, maybe you got a picture. All well and good, but in the end, you walk into that booth and it's going to be you. uh and your thoughts and your convictions and does a celebrity, be it a former politician, be it a movie star, be it a singer, sway that in any way? Sharon is in Marlton and Sharon's an independent. Hi Sharon. Hi. How are you? All right. So, you're an independent. You've taken it all in. What are your thoughts so far? Well, um based on your question, I as independ as an independent um I really look at facts and um I would have to say at this point in time if I was going to go with an endorsement um from the two that you were listing, I would say that my choice would be a endorsement and endorsement for Barack Obama versus President Trump. and uh and that is just you know my independent position at this point in time. Okay. So, but with the presidents aren't running, would you would you vote for Mikey Cheryl simply because Obama endorsed her? President Obama endorsed her or would you say would you be able to vote for the better of the two candidates based on your research of the two candidates? I would then base that on my own research and um at this point in time um I would have to say um Jack hits more of the point of what we're looking for. All right. So I think what I'm looking for No, I get it. So even though Mikey is being endorsed by President Obama, whom you like better than President Trump, you like Jack better than Mikey based on what you see about the you know his his uh the research you've done on him versus Mikey. Thanks for the call. New Jersey 101.5. No, I get it. You know, all right. Well, the two presidents I like Obama better. The two candidates I like Jack better. And people are gonna vote with that are going to go like that. Uh but 1-800 283101.5 we got the app chat. You could always weigh in on the app chat. And uh also whose endorsement do you think carries more weight in the upcoming gubanatorial election? President Trump who's endorsing the Republican Jack Chitterelli or former President Barack Obama endorsing Mikey Cheryl? And have you ever been swayed by an endorsement? Is there someone who uh if they said it, you would do it? 1 800 283101.5. I'm Steve Treble. He's his New Jersey 101.5. Fast traffic. Who's carried a weight in this election? 1 800 283 101.5. Which uh endorsement holds more weight? the uh President Trump endorsement of Jack Chidarelli or the President Obama endorsement of Mikey Cheryl. 1 800283101.5 Steve Trevalis. By the way, Thursday night we're going to have Mr. in here taking calls. He's got a cause he's promoting and it's very near and dear to our hearts and uh he's going to be in here Thursday night. So uh put that on your calendar. Uh tomorrow night we got Ken Wac coming in. He's going to be the uh he's gonna be on the phone. He's going to be the uh also we got Steve Edwards coming in, CEO of the New Jersey Hall of Fame and he'll be here from 8 to 9. Uh then 9:00, Ken Wac, the festival for all things Beatles at the Berkeley Oceanfront Hotel on November 6th through the 8th. But right now, the governor's race is heating up and the two big names have stepped into the ring. Former I'm sorry, former President Barack Obama is endorsing Mikey Cheryl and he's coming to town to a big rally in Newark on November the 1st. Uh, President Donald Trump is endorsing Jack Chidarelli. He's staying home, but he's called him a winner in New Jersey on Truth Social. So, uh, basically what I'm asking you at 1800283101.5, do these endorsements mean anything to you? Do endorsements still matter to you? Do you go by what somebody else is telling you to do or do you go by yourself? Is there someone that you trust enough? You know, cuz they're they're putting their integrity on the line when they're endorsing. And you know, naturally, the Democratic uh president is endorsing the Democratic candidate. The Republican president endorsing Republican candidate. But they wouldn't put their weight behind that person if they didn't believe in that person. I would I would think. I would hope. Uh, probably not, right? But where do endorsements play in your mind? If you're on the fence, is there someone who said to you, you know, uh, I think you should go this way that you would listen to them and go, you know, so many celebrities have tried in the last presidential election, you know, so many tried. Uh, as a matter of fact, so many took it for granted that if they just said it, it was going to happen. George Clooney, you know, uh, Bruce Bonjovi, they all played. Everybody, you know, tried to get on Camo's bandwagon. And in the end, she went $20 million over budget with celebrities. Oprah got a million dollars to endorse her. Uh, but in the meanwhile, allegedly a production company, whatever. But, uh, in the meanwhile, it was Trump that won. So, in this election, you know, the president is out, the former president is out, it's going to be big rallies. Does it mean anything to you? 1 800283101.5. Pretty much no matter what happens at this point, if you're registered to your party, would you ever change your party or you just staying within your party regardless of who endorses whom? You know, that's a funny question you could ask, too. Like if you're a diehard Springsteen fan, you know, would you vote for uh Mikey because you love Bruce because he would endorse her if he did? Could you ever break party because one of your favorite ball players or singers or actors endorse the other side? But in this situation, u what does the endorsement mean to you? And it's about the independence because those people staying within their parties, doesn't matter who's endorsing them, that's who they're voting for. uh like sheep on both sides. What do we We have an appshad, Rob. Yes, we do. We have Eli and Trenton. Honestly, it's kind of cool to see our state in the national spotlight. Oh, it is kind of cool. It's great to see our state in the national spotlight because uh you know, we got Virginia, too. And there's a lot of drama, you know, in both states. Uh but this is the one 800283101.5. We are 3 weeks away, November the 4th. I can't believe that, you know, we are that close. and and now you know now everybody puts pedal to the metal. Now the policies come full force. Uh so the question is as far as the two presidents which one would carry more weight in New Jersey? President Trump has a 41% approval rating. Governor Murphy has a 35% approval rating according to an Emerson College poll. This was out a few weeks ago. Uh let's get Jan in Rockaway. Hi Jan. Hey, how are you? Good. How are you? I'm okay. Steve, right? Yeah. Hi, Steve. Hello again. Hi. Um, I cannot believe. Can I speak? Of course you can speak. I cannot believe and I don't know what I'm permitted to say or not, but I honestly cannot believe that Obama. No, no, no. I promise. Okay. Um, I really don't I don't say much of that anyway. But anyway, I cannot believe Barack Obama has the audacity to come out in front of anyone after all that we're hearing and reading about what he had to do with keeping Trump trying to keep Trump out of office. That's the first thing. The second thing is, you know, he had an awful lot to do um with with just a lot of negative and um the way his wife is speaking about him. He eats wrong. He stands. But keep that. Wait a minute, Jen. Jen, this is a this is a podcast and and she's trying to get people she's trying to I mean, she she's been out of spotlight for a while now. She's trying to get people to kind of I don't know, be trying to be relevant. So So what do you do when you're relevant? You you crack on your husband, right? That's my wife. I'm kidding. Well, you know, I would do that, but that's not me. These people are all messed up. No, I got it. You get a little power and you're just the best. But J, I'm sorry. I have to cut you off because I got to hit the news. Danny is Danny is patiently waiting there. Joe, stick around. I got two more people calling in. Whose endorsement carries more weight? Barack Obama or President Trump? [Music] [Applause] All right. All right. All right. 1800283101.5. Steve Trevoliss on this beautiful Tuesday night. Coming up. I want you to think about this. Okay. I want you to think about this because uh the average person on food stamps in New Jersey uh gets about $193 per person per month, which is about $45 a week. If you had to feed yourself on $45 a week, right? And you're going to get it all from the grocery store, what would you buy? We're going to be talking about that later on. What I want to talk about now is the endorsements. Um, Barack Obama, the former president, he is endorsing Mikey, and this is him doing so. Hey, New Jersey, this is Barack Obama, and I want to talk to you about my friend Mikey Cheryl. So go vote by November 4th. He talks a lot slower than that. Uh President Trump on truth now. President Obama is coming to New Jersey. Uh there going to be a rally in New York. He's coming November the 1st. Uh President Trump took the truth social. Jack Chidarelli is a winner for New Jersey. Mikey Cheryl is the exact opposite. a stone cold loser who will drive your energy cost through through the roof just like the Democrats are doing all over the country. But even more so, she has no understanding of what she's doing. Could you explain that further? President, they don't know what the they're doing. Stop that, please. Please. 1 800283101.5. Uh, those sound bites are not related. Okay. So, do endorsements mean anything to you? Whose endorsement do you think carries more weight in New Jersey? former President Obama, current President Donald Trump. Let's start it with Joe in Milstone. What are you thinking, Joe? Steve, I'm a little bit more concerned the fact that you preferred Obama over Trump. I did. You you just said you said that you have the Obama endorsement. The reality is President Obama, I mean, Joe's a great orator and Trump's aator. Okay, Obama didn't really do anything. I mean, ACA was was great when it came out, but New Jersey already had most of those rules. Okay, no preact. But now the rules inside AC are coming to roost. That's why the government shut down because healthcare is getting so so expensive. All right, but Joe, my question is, so you're saying that Trump's endorsement holds more weight? I think it does, right? But but New Jersey being qualified purple right now, no different than Virginia, like he's not rolling on Virginia because he doesn't want to turn the the middle of the road away. Okay. So that's my question. And so who's So you're thinking that Trump's endorsement over Chidarelli holds more weight than Obama's endorsement of Mikey Cheryl. I do personally. I do. I mean I'm looking at the state. So all right. Well, Trump's here. I mean, you know, you know, Trump is in office right now and this is 2025. It's not 2020. And uh Obama doesn't have the power that he once had over the country. That was made known when uh Trump overwhelmingly beat Biden, who many thought Obama was running that election. But thanks for the call, the New Jersey 101.5. You know, uh it's basically, you know, like Bob Dylan once saying in a complete unknown. Right now, Andrew in Flemington is so happy to hear this. All right, 1800 283101.5. Christine's got a great endorsement story in Pennsylvania. Hi, Christine. Hey. Um, all right. So, there's this group right for Bucks and they're suing the um Republican party in um in Bucks County and the um judge that heard the case, right? The Republican party tried to get the case thrown out and the Democrat judge said, "Yeah, we'll I'll throw it out." So then on appeal to the um Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Supreme Court's like, "No, nuh-uh. This case has merit. You have to hear it." So in response, now the um Bucks GOP is endorsing the Democrat judge that tossed out their case. Wow. See that? How about that? Now that's unusual that the, you know, that the party would endorse the other party. That's good stuff. Christine, thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. Yeah, and that's about integrity. You know, that's about going with your beliefs. Marie is in Tom's River. Hi, Marie. Hey, Steve. Had a bit. Okay, I know where you been. I had a candle burning by the phone and everything. I've been hiding out. Ah, I get that. Okay. Couple thoughts for you. Okay. Uh I don't pick uh party. I don't pick uh person per se. Um, being an independent, I what I h what I vote on is issues. What is important to me? Okay. Now, being in New Jersey, we are butt up against New York. Okay. Right next to it. Right. So, we get all My issue has always been a big issue that I don't want all these illegal immigrants here. So, being that we're butt against New York and they're pouring into New Jersey, my thought is this, okay? If I were, and I'm not going to vote for her, but if I were to vote for her, she's got a line with old rabbit ears, same policy that's running our state now. I was running it into the ground. Um, I would love to see New Jersey turn red. Therefore, um, like I said, I'm not crazy about either one, but it's like the lesser of two evils because that is my stand in so far as what are you going to do? Are we going to go right back to the same policy all over again when we were trying to get this state cleaned up? I mean, I don't know about North Jersey and New York and that, but I know that uh the lower part of New Jersey uh this that's all Trump country and it's they're going red because people are really really sick of what's going on out there. And like I said, we get the overflow from there. And the last part which I think is very very important, you just use those words in your statement. Now listen very carefully, right? Use the word integrity. Integrity. Okay. It's not are you a thief. It's are you a thief when no one's watching or are you a thief? Well, that's the way I feel about Mikey show. I don't know exactly what she did when she was in the Navy, but I'm going to stand behind the US Navy and say whatever she did, it must have been pretty bad and her not in h having not having very much integrity not to allow her to walk. So myself, since I can't prove anything one way or another and they're not going to tell you, right? Uh why should I believe that she has integrity now? Well, you know, this is the thing. The simple solution to that and it's been 30 years and it's been enough time to come up with an explanation would be to just release it. I mean, if she were to say, "Okay, I'm giving my permission to release the uh you know, the transcripts, the records, whatever." and then somebody else says we're not. Now she say, "Hey, I tried." But the fact that she can do it and doesn't do it just uh it just, you know, raises suspicion and that's not what you want going in. But but having said that, the main thing like if we're going to examine people's past, no one's going to win anything. So it's not about what he did or what she did or what's in the P. It's about what are you going to do right now? What are you going to do to fix New Jersey? It's not about who loves Donald Trump. John Bramick once said that, you know, it's not about who loves Donald Trump. It's about who loves New Jersey because everybody seems like they're centered around Trump. You know, I'm going to fight Trump. I'm going to fight Trump. What about fix New Jersey. What are we going to do about that? And that's what we really need to hear. And that's what you got to make the decision on. Bringing the presidents in is a nice party. You know, it's a nice photo op, but it's not really going to do anything because they're going to go home and you're going to be left with the state and we're going to be left with the winner. So, it all comes down to Yeah. what they could do for us. But you but you that's what I just said, but you have to look at what are their policies as to what they're going to do for New Jersey because uh in retrospect, I mean, politicians are all liars, but that's beside the point. But which one lies least that you think that they could actually get the job done? And from what you saw, you're saying, Jack, and from what I saw and what I have listened to, and I'm on the computer an awful lot listening to both sides, uh, I think he we would be better served with him because we don't need any more Democratic policies in here. We've already got two senators that he's that whoever the governor is going to be is going to be going headbutt against him. And I'm hoping that it's going to be chitterelli because if we've got boom the governor, boom the senator, boom the senator, and they're all Democrat, oh, you might as well open up your wallet and just keep throwing the cash out to them because all the people that vote Democrat because they want all the freebies, they've got that lock. They've got that a tight lock on that vote or at least they think they do anyway. All right, Marie, thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. I mean, talk about endorsements. It's more about the endorsements of um local politicians who have uh flipped for Jack Chitterelli cuz they're here like Evan Garnto from Garfield is one 800 283 101.5 I'm Steve Trevalis here's New Jersey 101.5 fast traffic 1800 283 101.5 Steve Trevise so uh have you ever been on food stamps have you ever had to deal with the SNAP program or the wick program. Uh, New Jersey residents from NJ1015.com can access food assistance through October, though uncertainty looms for November. A New Jersey Department of Human Services warns that interruptions could affect over 965,000 residents relying on the nutrition programs. More than 5,000 SNAP accepting stores and community partners are monitoring potential changes in benefit distribution. And this is Jenner Solo's article at nj1015.com. Um, SNAP benefits are what most people call food stamps. Uh, just got a small update here in the state, but for many families, it's still not enough to keep up with the uh, rising prices at the grocery store. So, I did a little research, and here's what I want to know. Just kind of like a challenge. Uh, a challenge that many people in New Jersey deal with every day. Right now in New Jersey, the average SNAP benefit is $193 a month per person, which breaks down to about $6.50 a day. Now, I think it was 2012, 2013, Cy Booker went on the Senator Cy Booker went on the $4 a day food stamps challenge where he lived on $4 a day. I think it was for a week. Uh, so I'm going to throw this out there, right? $6.50 a day is uh the average New Jersey SNAP benefit. So, let that sink in. Could you walk into a grocery store with $6.50 and figure out all your meals for the day? Now, the food prices have gone up, the rent's gone up, if you're working full-time, affording food can still be a struggle, right? But it's not just about the statistics. It's about you. Real stories, and I want to hear them. Back in 2012, Senator Cy Booker took the food stab challenge, living on four hours a day for one week. He said it was exhausting, humbling, opening his eyes to what so many people quietly live through every day. So, here's what I want to do know from you. 1 800283101.5. Have you ever been on food stamps? Uh how hard is it? What's the wick program like? You know, we hear about uh corruption in the program where people are selling the stamps or people are uh using it to buy other things. I if that's going on, I want to hear about it. But here's what I'm really interested in. Right? The average person living on food stamps in New Jersey gets $193 per person per month, which comes out to about $45 a week. If you did all your weekly food shopping at the grocery store, what would you buy to feed yourself for 7 days with a budget of $45 for the week? I put it on my social media and I know you got to think about this. Now, it's time you can immediately pick up the phone and you can get me on the app chat as well. Uh, at 1 800 283101.5 is the phone number. Now, think about this. You got to feed yourself for a week and you've got $45. Now, if you do the food shopping, right, Rob Brown, come in here. Uh, I'm thinking now the first day and I I remember doing this 10 years ago with the $4 a day challenge that Cory Booker was doing. Uh, now Rob, do you you live with your parents, right? So, you don't buy the food. No, I do not. All right. But if you had to buy the food, here's what I'm thinking. You got a $45 budget. You got to feed yourself for seven days. So, the first thing I would think about, I'd buy a loaf of bread. Yes. A loaf of bread is what? Uh you you got you I'm going to call it out. You give me the prices. Okay. Okay. Uh what is a loaf of supermarket bread? Store store brand bread. Let's say I don't know what's a bowl and basket bread. I'll use you shop because I know that brand. So, standard loaves usually go for $3. $3. Okay. Okay. So, a loaf of bread. How many slices in the loaf? Did they tell you? Uh, no. All right. Loaf of bread. Let's say $3. I'm going to say that's enough sandwiches for a week. I could make seven sandwiches. I'm going to say there's 14 slices in that loaf of bread. So, now the question is, what do we put between the bread? Uh, what's a dozen eggs? Let's say a dozen eggs. We're going to say, what was that? $5. Yeah, it's $5. Okay. So now I'm at $8. Uh, now I got my choice with my dozen eggs. I could have eggs and toast in the morning. I could have egg sandwich, right? I could do that. So and and I still got $37 to play with, right? Okay. All right. 1800283101.5. Let me hear your shopping list. You got $45 to spend and you've got to feed yourself for seven days. What have you got for me? I got I got that. Now go down. Now, give me a jar, a large jar of peanut butter. What does that go for? [Music] All right. And we can say it with store brand. We don't want to go too crazy. Yeah. No, I don't I'm not I'm not looking up anything of gifs or cheap cheap peanut butter. It goes around for like $4. $4. Okay. So, now I got $34. I spent $11. And for $11 I got my choice of eggs and toast, eggs sandwich, peanut butter sandwich. So, I conceivably got breakfast and lunch covered and I got $34 to still play with to come up with food. We We're gonna continue this. Okay. But I want you to think about it. 1 800283101.5. This is it. Now, Danny, you know, you don't buy the food in your house, right? Well, I'm going to have to, Steve, when I get out of here. And you need to listen to this because San Francisco is even more expensive than New Jersey. I'm so proud of you, dude. I'm I'm so happy. I appreciate it. Thank you. All right. We'll talk more about this. So, meanwhile, $45 a week, you got to feed yourself for 7 days. Let's hear it. 8. All right. 1800283 101.5 Steve Trevalis. All right. Working on the food stamps challenge. The average person on a SNAP program with program in New Jersey food stamps uh gets $193. I'm Danny De. Oh, sorry. $193 per person. Uh, and that comes out to about $45 a day. So, if you had to shop for yourself in a grocery store using $45 a day to feed yourself for a week, could you do it? Amory has a list. Amarie, how are you? I'm good. How are you tonight? You got right on this. I love it. All right, let me hear what you got. Okay, so first of all, are you on footsteps? No, I'm not. No, but I would do I would do bread. All right. And now what kind of bread? Uh just, you know, regular American bread. No frrills. You know, store brand. All right. Loaf of bread $3, right? Loaf of bread is $3. Um peanut butters probably what? $4. $4. $4. All right. Now you're at seven. Um jelly. And what's jelly? I would say probably $4 off. I got I got Rob the cashier here. Rob, give me a a jar of bowl. Give us the amounts. Yeah. Come on. Come on. Rob. Jar of jelly. What's a jar of jelly? Jar of jelly. Uhhuh. A grape jelly, right? Or any kind of jelly. Yeah. I guess if you get like put in for grape jelly. Welches grape jelly or whatnot. Oh, Welches. What are you lie dah cheap? We want cheapo grape. What? Shop right grape jelly. I was thinking more great value. What do you think? 33 3.99 3.49 for one. It's 24.46. 46. 246. All right. So, now where are we? So, we got we got three. We got the We got the bread at three. We got the peanut butter at 4. Now, you're at 7. 24.49. Now, let's say you're at 10. Yes. Okay. What else? Um, now you got So, we could do for lunch, we could do ramen noodles. Usually five for a dollar, four for a dollar these days. Oh, god. Ramen noodles. We're going to live on. Oh boy. Okay. The kids like that, right? My son eats My sons eat ramen noodles without cooking and they eat them like chips. Like they bite them hard. I know. I don't know where I went wrong. All right. You know, we all have our things, right? So now what what's ramen noodles go for? I think they're like four for a dollar, three for a dollar. You can get 24 for $7. 24 packs of ramen noodle. The whole month is taking right there. Right. There you go. We're going beyond a week. Oh, really? All right. So, we got 24 ramen noodles. That covers lunch and possibly snacks, right? And that's $7. So, now we're at $17. And you got $18 left. Oh, I've got $18 left. Okay, then we're going to go with a pack of hot dogs. A pack. Now, what's a pack of hot dogs go for? If you get them on sale, I would say $3.99. $3.99. Yeah, I know. How much? Expensive. Oh, I'm going over now cuz I had $7. So, four Oh, no. I guess usually goes for like three bucks. All right. Hot dog. A pack of hot dogs is $3. How many hot dogs? You're getting around two, four, six, eight. 10 hot dogs. 10 hot dogs. $3. All right. So, now we're we were at $13. And so we got we got bread, peanut butter, jelly, hot dogs. So we're $13. And you know what? This isn't pretty. This isn't hard at all now. You think about it, right? So what else are we getting? Uh we could do pasta because if you get pasta or macar, you know, like spaghetti, macaroni, pasta. All right. Wait, hold on. Hold on. We got the ramen noodles, which brought us up to $20. So now you're going to get you got $20 and you want to add macaroni to the ramen noodles. Well, then we'll scratch the ramen and get regular macaroni and then mom make, you know, regular pasta. There you go. You know, you know, you can make uh butter noodles. I I have a grandkid that likes butter noodles. See, that's very good. That's very good. Now you're $20. And what's the butter cost like? Five. Now you got 25 and you still got 20 bucks left. And Oh, look at that then. Well, then if we want to do a more wholesome approach, we could do a pot of soup. We got to do it. You get Well, you get some carrots, some celery, some chicken. No, chicken's a little expensive. Chicken is gone. Chicken has gone up. All right. So, I mean, you know what? We can actually We're just doing vegetable soup. Yeah, vegetable soup. We're doing whatever. Whatever we could steal from the neighbor's yard soup. That's what we're doing. Okay. Uh All right. And then uh dozen eggs. The eggs would be good. A dozen eggs. Yes. Always need eggs because then you can have, you know, scrambled eggs in the morning like you said or the egg sandwich. Um or you can make egg salad. Eggs. You got to get mayonnaise. Mayonnaise. Mayonnaise is like $10. That's expensive. Mayonnaise is expensive. That did go up. And you got to get They got to get coffee. Oh, you got to have the coffee. Got to have the coffee. So now I think right about there we're at $45. We are. And it's funny though because I actually I have a little coffee pot. I brew my coffee instead of buying those K cups because they're like I think when when oh 10 bucks for for one of the like a name if you're getting a name brand. If you're getting a not name brand or on sale maybe you get them for 5.99 $4.99 depending on the brand. I I'm in this supermarket every week, sometimes more than once a week, so I see a lot of the es and flows of the p uh es and flows of the prices. All right. So, you So, but you know what? That's not bad. The only thing So, we're going to have we're going to have breakfast. We're going to have sandwiches. We got peanut butter and jelly. We got eggs. We got uh we got macaroni, right? We got buttered noodles and uh vegetable soup. Mhm. And some hot dogs. And some hot dogs. All right. That's not bad. That's not bad. Now, when you go to the market, try to buy all that stuff. And we're doing the food stamp diet, kids. See where that goes at home. And we're skip we're we're we're cutting back here, kids. Yeah. Next next week, we get the fresh mutz and we start from scratch. Call the New Jersey 101.5. All right. So, that's not bad. That's a good one. Uh 1-800283101.5. Anybody else? Come on. You got $45 a week. You got to feed yourself for 7 days. That is the New Jersey food stamp challenge. If anyone's ever been on food stamps, give me a call. What was the experience like? How hard was it? How hard was it to manage food stamps? Uh how long have you been on food stamps? How long did you stay on food stamps? And of course, please hit us up on the app chat. We definitely we definitely take calls from the app chat. I've got here uh Georgie. First off, you'd be very thin. Secondly, you could survive no more than eight months eating Spaghettiio O's and peaches out of a can. That's the only supplement you're supposed to keep working if you're not disabled. Uh something to help you along. Let's see. Uh Butch, go to the Apple store. Uh Robbo, pasta, it's filling, it's cheap, and it tastes good. Tina, $26 a month. Spaghetti and maybe oatmeal for breakfast. Now, that's very filling. Mhm. Right. Oatmeal is not expensive at all. No, it's not. That's a good one. The hard thing it sounds like you can do breakfast and lunch without a problem. Can you, you know, dinner would be where the problems would come in. Dinner and the snacking. Like the ramen noodles. You'd have to live on it, right? Uh, let's see. I would head to Dollar Tree, says Hope. Stock up on rice, soup, peanut butter, and bread. You know what? Everything's a$125. It is. So that's not bad. That's not bad. You got 45. You get 45 items. Uh then go to BB's dented food outlet and load up on their best deals. Okay. Okay. All right. Here we go. Joseph, uh $45 a week is less than $7 a day. I would eat cereal with milk or peanut butter and bread for breakfast. Pasta would be my second meal each day, skipping lunch. Uh we got a lot of this. Pasta, meat, loaf of bread, eggs, chicken. How many blinces is that? Uh, okay. Here we go. Lindy, with a $45 budget at Aldi, you can purchase a variety of ingredients to create multiple family meals like tacos, spaghetti, or a large roast that can be stretched across several days. Uh, the roast is interesting now because with the roast, you can go seven days. Uh, just keep slicing it. That's not bad. That's not bad at all. Uh, let me see what I got here. Okay. Key, budget friendly items. Packs of chicken thighs or pork loin, pasta, rice, beans, seasonal or frozen vegetables, staples like eggs and bread. I get ground turkey instead of beef. It's healthier and cheaper. All right. So, 18283101.5. Have you ever been on food stamps? Have you ever been able to survive on food stamps? the average person in New Jersey who's on a, you know, on the food stamp program, $193 a month. So, if you had to make that work for you, what would you buy? And also, again, you know, have you ever I want to hear your experiences. Have you ever been on food stamps? Let's talk to uh uh Peter, you've been on food stamps. You own a restaurant. I was for a while until I got my money from my sale of my mother's house. Right. I got 23 from the county and 72 from the state. Okay. So, how did you stretch that out? Well, basically depending on what you bought at the store where you bought, right, what the prices that would last you one to two weeks. So, you got $45 a week uh to spend. Basically, it was uh it was a oneshot deal. Mhm. $95 for the month, right? But uh All right. And that and you made it work. I made it work. All right. For two weeks, and then whatever money I got from social security. Mhm. and from uh um working I would take care of the rest of it. And also there is Mercer Streets and there is arm and arm who give food to people who will get social security and have no additional income. No, that's good stuff. Peter, thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. Okay, Fred, I want to give you more time. Hang out. What would you do? You got $45 a week to feed yourself. What would you buy at the grocery store? 1 800 283 101.5. I'm Steve Trevalis. Here's New Jersey 101.5 fast. All right. 1 800 283 101.5 Steve Trevalis. I want to know. I want to know if you could buy groceries to feed yourself with $45 a day, could you do it? 1 800283101.5. Have you ever done it before? Now, it's not going to be easy to do, but I want to know if you can do it. And Fred in Brick says he can do it. Hi, Fred. Hey, Steve. How you doing? Good. How are you? Good. Good. All right. So, now, how are we going to do it? So, what I would do is I would go to Costco and I would stock up on rotisserie chickens and a big bag of white rice and, you know, whatever money I have left over, I'll get a big thing of coffee there as well. So, Wayne, you're going to get a bag of chickens at Costco. How much is a bag of chickens? I think I think the chickens are only like $67 each, right? So each now you got $45. How many you going to do? So probably do like four chicken, three, four chickens for the week and then you know you get the big bag of rice that's probably like $20, something like that. But that'll last you even more than a week. Those things will last you like like probably a month. um and you get the big thing of coffee. I think that's like $134, something like that. So, that's more than enough to get you through the week. I mean, I know that it's not very um flavorful, but you know, if you're just going for substance, it's a great option. Yeah. But you want you want flavorful. Like, you want to be able to live comfortably, right? I mean, here's the thing. If you take from what I if you take a can of beans like you buy the chicken, you buy the rice, you throw in a can of red beans, that's called a rosio, I think, and that is all of the amino acids. That is the that is the perfect nutrition for your body. I had a Puerto Rican friend who told me that rice and beans has everything you need vitamin- wise to sustain you. I also like throw some garlic or some other seasonings in there too. You know, butter and garlic always goes well with that kind of stuff. Uhhuh. But now, how much are you spending? Um I mean the gar like a clove of garlic that's what like $2 something like that. Uhhuh. Butter maybe like a couple sticks of butter is probably like5 $6 something like that. So, say you get three chickens, you're at like $18, $20. Um, you could probably get maybe a smaller bag of rice, then you're at like $15. So, say you're at $35. Then you get the butter, get the garlic, you get the beans, then you're you're at about 45. I mean, you might have to skip the coffee then at that point, but All right. All right. I'm telling I I think that you got to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And like if you do it, if you do like the bread, the peanut butter, uh you know, stuff like that, the eggs are good. But you know what? I'll take the chickens. I'll make it work. I like that. Uh let's go to uh Tracy is in Princeton. All right, Tracy, what are we eating? Oh, I've done this multiple times before. Um, I had I went through a bad time in life and I had to budget. Uh, you can live very comfortably with this. So, first off, you get yourself rice and some form of beans, right? That's like that staple and it's going to last more than a a week. And then you have your bread and your eggs. Bread you buy the storebought is like a uh like a $2, three hours. Yeah. It won't be three. Yeah. And then you get your simple butter or peanut butter and that's your cost. And then you get eggs. you get onions and tomatoes, you know, a nice bag of onions and tomatoes don't cost you more than like two bucks, three bucks depending upon how much that bag is costing you, right? And you buy yourself some chicken and good some kind of a rub that you can kind of either bake it, roast it, make a curry, whatever you want to do. Depending upon how much money is left, you can throw in some tortillas as well, which you can, you know, kind of make a quesadilla out of it, whatever. You can get a bag of uh cheese. Wow. You have done this before. Storebought. I have done this. And you buy the storebought shredded cheese or whatever that is on the sale. It's like a dollar, $2 depending upon the week that you're picking it up on. And then you can actually throw in the ice cream. Again, buy a storebought that's on sale. It will be three bucks or two $259. So, and you can buy yourself milk and coffee and live comfortably. You just have to think how you're going to do it and just buy the kind of right spices here and there like a nice good rub and those spices or those oils don't cost you much. It's like a a buck two buck depending upon what you're doing and they will last you more than the week. I'm taking here's what I'm going to do. I'm going to find you and I'm going to take you with me when I go food shopping cuz I think you got it down. Oh, take me. But you Yeah. And you know another thing that and this is without going to Costco. If I go to Costco like Fred was talking, I will save even more money. But what you can do is you can go to farmers market. You can go to Asian markets. You can go to Caribbean market. They have things and vegetables on sale and they have different types of cuisine which are flavorful and cheap. I love it. Tracy, thanks for the call. Rang out. I want to give you more time. 1 800283101.5. If you were doing food stamps, $193 a month, you had to live on $45 a week. That's your grocery budget. What are you buying? Here's Danny D. It's 9. Whatever you All right. The Fest for all things Beatles coming up November 6th through the 8th at the Berkeley Hotel in Asbury Park. Mar Ken Wack will be in here talking about it. We give it out three day passes. Uh Max Weinberg is going to be there. Jay Clemens is going to be there. The Weaklings are going to be there. You could be there. Uh we'll do that tomorrow night. We'll do that Thursday night. Freddy Rabbino will be in studio tomorrow night for Trevia along with Jeffrey Paul. Uh a good time shall be had by all. In the meantime, uh we're talking about food stamps. The uh the the subsidies right now. But we got it covered through October. Not so much for November. Not sure about November. But the average person living on food stamps in New Jersey gets $193 per person per month, which comes out to about $45 a week. If you did your weekly food shopping at the grocery store and your budget was $45 a week, what would you buy to feed yourself for 7 days? 1 800 283101.5. We got the app chat. You could always get us there. It's taking a little time. This isn't easy. You got to do some thinking here. Ro is in Orange. R, what are we buying? How are you, my friend? You're doing a great job listening to you. I appreciate. Uh, yeah. Yeah. A couple things come to mind. Uh, right off the bat, seasonally speaking, sometimes in the produce department, you can get like apples, lots of apples. Good move. Good price and nutritious fiber and all the good stuff that comes with it. Uhhuh. And uh frozen peas have a lot of protein in there. Good one. Something to think about. You could put the peas with mashed potatoes. The peas with pasta. Pasta peas. Mash. Yeah. You put the peas in with You get some potatoes. You mash them up. You put the peas in there. Mhm. I love that. Pretty good. Yeah. You put a little butter on there, a little basil or whatever you want to put on there. When I was a kid, we used to do that, right? You get you get the hot lunch and you mix the peas with the mashed potatoes and you eat them together. Yeah. And then uh this uh mini steaks is the steakum sandwiches. You get like a whole bunch of those in a box. Okay. Be able to pull that off. All right. You know it's on sale. All right. And you got the of course you got the tuna fish, the hard-boiled eggs, the peanut butter and jelly, the cashew. You can go with cashew butter and jelly. It's much nicer. Peanut butter is you know cashew butter. I never had cashew butter. I got to try it. Is it smooth like and creamy like peanut butter or is it just kind of ground together? Well, it's it's less likely to go bad on you, too. It's like the the oil is more stable. Really? It tastes good when the the you open it, the first scoop is good. You come back a week later, it's the same taste. I got to try it. Disintegrating. How about almond butter? I never had that either. I like it. Almond. Try it. You'll never go back to peanut butter. I promise. All right. All right. So now you got $45, right? You got you got your breakfast, you got your lunch, and for dinner, you're going to have the steakums. Or what are you going to eat for dinner? I might have stums. I might I might also go with a a spaghetti and clam sauce. The heck with the tomato sauce. Oh, can of clams? Clam sauce. Not bad. And you got a lot of protein with that. Yeah, I like they don't have protein in the tomatoes. I didn't You know what? When I was planning this, I never thought the protein route. you come up with some really good protein dishes and that mean and that won't put weight on you as well. That'll keep you satisfied. That'll keep you full and uh you know and that won't make you fat. I like that. Good stuff. Everybody, you know, everybody forget about the corn flakes. It's not that you get a big box. It's not that much. And you can buy like the probiotic yogurt. Put like one scoop on there and it becomes alive. Not bad. Yeah. So, for breakfast, you got the corn flakes, you got the uh probiotic yogurt, the probiotic yogurt, and and and you got the cashew butter. And you can do this all for 45 a week. I think so. You play it right. You know, the apples and the the seasonal fruits are a really good one to fill in between the meals. I like that. A little hungry, grab an apple. You see, that's it. You got your snack sometimes, too. Yeah. You factored in the snack. That's a good thing because I'm a snack guy especially like I go home at night I got to eat and that and that that screws me up because you know that's when you supposedly put the weight on but depending on how you do it you know but the protein roll man good stuff good stuff. All right, what do we got? We got an app chat. Yes. Yes, we do. Adam from Tom's River believes you can pull it off with two cases of ramen, right? Two loaves of bread. Two cases of ramen. Yeah, that's a it's a lot. That's a lot of ramen. It's a lot of ramen. But a jar of peanut butter, canned veggies, eggs, milk, and hot dogs conceivably. Yeah. I mean, if you're doing the item itemizing, a loaf of bread being $3. Mhm. Peanut butter is $4. That's seven. Say jelly is $3. So now you're at $10. You got peanut, you got you can have an entire week of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Or and you buy a dozen eggs, now you're at $15. Mhm. Now you got a entire week of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, egg sandwiches and you've still got uh 30 bucks left. So let's say you buy a pound of coffee. It's $10. Now you got breakfast. You got to have caffeine. I do. So now you have $25. $25 or so a pack of hot dogs would be, you know, I like like now the bag of apples, which is brilliant because you get the snack as well as the nutrition. Yes. And that will, you know, apple a day keeps the doctor away. That's what, but really that you you want to be able to get your vitamins. You want to be able to you don't just want to eat junk that's going to make you sick. That is true. You know, so you got the apples. And what's a bag of apples go for? Bag of apples. Like $3 maybe. Should be like that. So now you got you're down to 20 B. You got 30 bucks, right? You're down to uh No, I'm sorry. 20 bucks. Um, now you can go and get like a bag of like when I would do I go to Sam's, get a bag of chicken, you know, chicken tenders. Uh, because I don't, it's easy to buy the the bag stuff because the beef, the meat is so expensive that if you get the bag, you know, you know, for me, I would buy chicken thighs. Then I go home and I make them. I put them in the olive oil. I bread them, do the whole thing, put them in the oven. But then again, I go, you know, it's so much cheaper. You buy a bag of chicken tenders that are already breaded, you throw them in the air fryer, you're done. And they taste great. That's my college uh diet right there. Of course, we had something about on the AB chat as well about hot food with food stamps. Will from Roxbury came up with this one. You can't buy hot food with with food stamps. Rotisserie chicken is under the hot food category. They won't let you buy rotisserie. the the Sam's Club rotisserie chickens are only five bucks and they're big and they're delicious and they won't let you buy that. Yeah, let me I want to look up hot foods that you can't buy with food stamps. So, you make your own rotisserie chicken. I mean, you can buy an uncooked rotisserie chicken, but like I said, I mean, rather than do that, I buy a big bag of the chicken bites, no bones, and and and you got another option that you could have for breakfast or lunch. But like uh like Ra was saying, you get the peas, like you could do like the protein, like a great Italian dish, Julia Scotty loves this, you take uh they call pasta peas, and you take macaroni, butter, and peas and mix them together. They It's It's fantastic. Uh when my sons were young when they were little babies, peas was their favorite snack and that has been replaced by many other things. Uh but pasta peas, they put a little, you know, spices on it, you know, salt, pepper, oregano, bows, stuff like that. Tastes terrific. I never liked peas. No, no, I couldn't do it. So if if I was bunking with you and you're like, "Hey man, we got peas tonight." I'm like, "You got peas tonight. You got peas tonight. I'm eating something else. All right, let's get Lauren in Old Bridge. Lauren, what are we eating? Lauren, what are we eating? Oh my god, everybody is talking about ramen noodles and peanut butter and jelly. Do they not realize that the public schools don't allow peanut butter? Well, you're not sending them to school. You're eating at home. It's you. Oh, it's just a single person, not a family of four. You want to do a family of four on $45 a week? Well, I know that most of the people that I know, unfortunately, right, get about $300 a month in in food stamps for a family of four. It's utterly disgusting. 300? That's That's 150 a week. No, 300 is No, you're right. 75 a week. Oh my god, that is disgusting. So, I cannot believe when somebody says something about peanut butter and jelly because kids can't bring that to school. They bring jelly sandwiches to school, right? But they can't bring peanut butter and jelly. They can't bring any nut butter at all, right? School. Yeah. Today's all about the allergies, right? And and unfortunately, no disrespect, ramen noodles with a gram of sodium per packet was insane. A box of spaghetti or pasta is okay about a dollar a box, right? Or $150, right? And that's supposedly eight servings, but most people in this on this conversation knows it may go three ways or four ways, right? Right. Cuz most people would have two servings of of of of it, you know, and people are talking about it as though chicken tenders with the olive oil. The gentleman before said something about olive oil. A a quart of olive oil could cost. What I said was when I would buy chicken thighs, I would make them with olive oil. I'm not saying I was putting that into the food. Oh, absolutely. Chicken thighs. I absolutely agree. A dollar a$1.29 or$130 a pound when they're on sale, right? But it's gone up to about $2 a pound. That's why the chicken bites are easier. You just buy them, throw them in the microwave, you know, throw them in the, you know, in the air fryer and they're cheaper if you get a big bag. Then you don't have Okay. But how many people have an air fryer at at $200? You're talking about people who have have a limited budget. Microwave or an oven. You could do it. You cook it anyway. Well, microwave is horrible, but yes, an oven. Yes. Microwave or frying it. Okay. Faying. But I don't I think that people Okay. I I should talk from my perspective. Well, I tell you what, Lauren Lauren, listen to me. Can you hold on? I'm actually Nina. Yeah. Oh, Nina. Okay. Nina. Uh, can I call you? Can I use my name? Let me start with Can I listen? I got I got to I got to take a traffic break. Can I put you on hold and we'll pick it up after the break? Absolutely, sir. All right. Hold on. Call me Steve. All right. 18283101.5. Uh, here's Lauren Nina with Fast Traffic. All right. 18283101.5. Steve Trevile. The average person in New Jersey on the food stamp program gets $193 a month. So that comes out to about $45 a week, right? So, if you were going to feed yourself on $45 a week, that's your budget at the grocery store. What would you buy? Now, before I went into the traffic, I was talking to uh uh for the sake of argument, Lauren in Oldbridge. All right. Now, the what I'm looking at here says the average cost is 193 per person, and you're saying families are living on 300. Unfortunately, that's the the case. A lot of families are getting about $300 a month. I just I messaged a friend of mine who I know is on stamps for a family of four, right, to confirm, and I'm still waiting on that. But regardless, I think that um it's great that people have these ideas and thoughts about it. I I appreciate that even the senator attempted to work live a week on Well, that was 10 years ago. Estimated. That was actually 2012. That was 13 years ago. And at now 13 years ago at $4 a day. So now like what I'm working with here is only $650 a day. But when I don't understand how it can only be 300 a month. In fact, you know what? You got to ask the state of New Jersey or the federal government why they how they come up with these numbers. That I can't tell you. I've got here for neither. The average is there's what I'm looking at. that the SNAP program benefit in New Jersey 194 per person per month based on 2022 data. However, this amount varies significantly based on a household's income size and expenses. Uh New Jersey also has rob the phone. New Jersey also has a minimum monthly benefit of $95 for eligible households. So, it looks like here it's more. I'm not I mean I'm not arguing you you know. Uh but what I'm I'm actually waiting for that that family the family to make it back. Um I just looked up and it says $994 per month and I can tell you that for a a fact unfortunately. The families that I know are making one quarter that you know about. How are they getting by? Well that's a funny conversation. Um a lot of them go to get paid to have it. They go where? They go to food banks. Um people like myself who um work with different organizations or or businesses who will provide some food out um that they're they're they're unable to sell. Um and I give this out to families that I know that are in need. Right. But um a lot of I I I can tell you that it's it's it's very very you as you know it's it's really hard to live on a few hundred. Of course it's hard to that's what that's what's so amazing about this. Yeah. And I I'm wait I'm still waiting back from the the No, I I believe you. You don't have to I you don't have to prove it to me. I totally believe you. No, no, no, no. I'm I'm actually personally I'm I'm trying to make sure that I I have the numbers correct, but I know it's nowhere near $1,000 a month that a family of four would get. Um but but this is I think that it's a very interesting conversation that you're having, sir. Um about food and and and food, Steve, sorry, Steve, about food and food and food needs of families. And I well a lot of us we're we're lucky enough that we can afford to buy a you know full a full refrigerator to stock you start to break down. You know what it's like we're not when you really look at the cost of food when how often do you get to go out and buy a full refrigerator? You know, you go out and you buy a couple bags of groceries and you realize you spent a couple hundred hours and you don't even know where it went, right? And you're looking at this going, "What the hell's in this bag that cost me $50?" Yeah. So, you know, there's that. And then when you get this and the way, you know, just to have to budget your food, uh, it's, you know, it's absurd. And, you know, you need Go ahead. Oh, I'm sorry, Steve. I apologize. I I had a bad habit. Um, my friends will tell you that about me. But I was going to say and then what one of the things people are talking about or not remembering is that you have to be fidious about looking at every single vendor, right? Whether it's Shopr, right, AMP or or um, you know, some local vendors that are, you know, food food um, like the vegetable stands and food stands. A bag of apples is a three pound bag of apples is is $1.99 typically about, you know, a Walmart's a little bit more about 250 275. Um, bananas are 54 cents a pound by the way at at at Walmart. Um, we we can we it's to have a healthy meal, a healthy a healthy meal that your family is going to eat. It's not just what you're gonna buy, but they're what they're going to eat. Right. Right. With no waste. And most of us can't cook every night, you know? So, you want to cook two a two two night meal, right? Right. Um, so you have to think about the entire thing. And, uh, it it's it's it's it's crazy to think of how little money people are getting. And and granted, you know, the the federal government is or the state government is was not created in one sense to feed the families of this these families for an at infant item. However, that's what we are doing and we are going to continue to need to do this until uh the state and the federal government raise the minimum wage to a living wage. Right now, we just got to find a way to get them to eat. Lauren, thanks for the call to New Jersey 101.5. I am late for the news. I want 1823 101.5 Steve Trevalis. The uh average person living on food stamps gets $193 a month. So if you had to make that if you had to spend come out about $45 a week. If you had to spend $45 a week at the grocery store to feed yourself for seven days, what would you buy? 1 800 2830 101.5. We have Steve in Tom's River. Steo, what's up there, man? What's up? How you doing? I'm still I'm I'm still freaking homeless. Oh god. Are you ready for this? Yeah. $128 in food stamps for three grown adults. How do you do three grown adults? $128. How are you doing that? Why that's it? They Well, because they have a guideline, right? They go by your what you bring in the money. You see people on tell I make $358 social security, right? Uh am I allowed am I allowed to say the name of the stupid hotel that they stuck us in? Don't say that. Okay. Well, anyway, and you and your wife sleeps you sleep outside, right, with the dog? Well, it gets worse. My wife got very ill. She spent 16 days in a bone infection in her shoulder at community. Then they had to ship her to a rehab in Tom's in Bricktown. Oh god. Well, lo and be lo and behold, they found out that my development disabled son was upstairs sleeping by himself. Well, the state stepped in and they took him away. They put they put him where he is. Lucky by the grace of God, he's coming back tomorrow. Thank God. So, I'm sitting I'm sitting and talking to you in the parking lot of the hotel with my dog in the back seat because they don't allow pets. You told me that. Now, remember the woman woman who called up wanted to reach you? Did you ever get in touch with her? Yeah, she helped me just that one time. Yeah. Well, good. Good. At least somebody Yeah. But let me tell you something to you. You know, when it was cold recently, I had to burn the gasoline to keep us everybody warm in this car. I went to gas like it's water. Now when they when they when they say they uh like it they take I have to pay this stupid motel $1,087 for our share. That's oneird of my that's onethird of my income a month. Now in the beginning in the beginning they were they were bringing you food pre-made meals because there's only a microwave downstairs. Well, they supposedly ran out of a food budget, so that ended that. Wow. And now you got my son who's coming back tomorrow. He goes to a program 5 days a week, right? He has to have a lunch 5 days a week. He's home on weekends and he's got to have breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And my wife is still in the rehab till the 31st of this month. And lo and behold, I have no money to my name until the social security money hits on the 31st of the month. So, example, my breakfast is a small cup of coffee that the Waha treats me to and a cheese Danish for 259. Oh my god. My lunch is another cup of coffee and maybe, you know, some kind of donut. And you're making and they can't go and they can't f they can't find a damn place. These people are crazy. Even the real estate agents that I've talked to say, "Steve, listen. We try to convince them to work with people. They don't want to know nothing. They want you to make three times what the rent is. So if your rent is 2,000, right? Unless you're making $6,000 a month, you ain't moving in my place." No. And they tried to talk to him till they're blue in the face and no good. Steve, the only the only way I'm getting my son back tomorrow, not that I want to do this, is I have to leave my dog locked in his car with the windows cracked so he's not upstairs sleeping. Otherwise, they wouldn't give him back. You couldn't get your wife to watch. Your wife's sick. Yeah. You couldn't get somebody to watch him? No. No. There is nobody. Nobody. I I I You know what they tell me? Put the dog down. You put the dog down. No, that's their answer. No, you don't want to put the dog down, Stephen. I know. I mean, my my son has had this dog since it's been 8 weeks old. He said to me the other day, I'm not going to put the dog down. You're not You're not going to put No, I'm not. I got I got to move on. I've had you on for five minutes already, but I understand and I feel for I'd rather die than put him down. No. And don't die either. Ashley is in South Jersey. Ashley, you're living on $45 a week roughly. Yeah. How do you do it? Very, very, very carefully, right? Um, I try to buy things in bulk that I can kind of mix and match with other stuff just to make it last. And really, I try to stay away from carbs because believe it or not, carbs don't fill you up. It's like you're wasting money on something that's going to leave you hungry, you know, and all the cheap stuff is the carbs, right? Well, yeah. It's why you stay away from the cereals, you know. I try to buy, like I said, the value packs of like, you know, um, uh, like a bulk thing of of chicken or a bulk thing of pork chops or a bulk thing of sausages, right? And just try to mix and match. Maybe put some pasta with it or, you know, everybody know if we use rice, you know, throw some rice with it. So, rice will fill you up. Mix and match. Huh? Rice will fill you up. It will. Yes. Yeah, it definitely will. But that's that's kind of how I've been just making, you know, making that, you know, money last every month. And it's just temporary. I mean, I'm just going through a hard time right now. This is all kind of, you know, new and unexpected, but I'm just trying to do the best I can. So, my heart definitely goes out to people that have been going through this for quite a long time and trying to get themselves out. Yeah. You hear these stories, you know, it's so sad. like $45. We were trying to figure it out. Like if you were going to do $45, you started itemizing the grocery list, like a dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, a jar of peanut butter. Uh then you can't bring that into the schools. But it's it's really hard. My friend Keith just texted me, I spend $45 a day. Uh you know, uh I spend 45 on the road. I'll spend $45 in a day. You know, then he has stories like Steve who's like heartbreaking. You pray for Steve. his wife, you know, his wife is sick and the dog he's got to get his kid and he can't have no one to take care of the dog and he's not eating and he's 78 years old. I mean, I was listening. That's that's Yeah, I felt really bad for him and I hope he doesn't put his dog down. No, he's not. In fact, that's terrible. But yeah, it's just it's tough for a lot of people out there. I guess the best thing we could do is just try to, you know, help each other out, you know? I mean, what else can you really do? You know, if your neighbor's suffering, if you can help them, help them. Absolutely. All right, kiddo. Good stuff. Thanks for calling New Jersey 101.5 on the app. Chad, what do we got? We got Tina from Hamilton. It's tough but doable if you plan every meal. The key things to have rice, pasta, eggs, frozen veggies. Nothing fancy. Rice, pasta, eggs, frozen veggies. You know, again with see like the veggies if you have the protein, see like the bag of apples would be good because you know you're not going to go hungry because you're not going to feel hungry because you're getting the nutrients that you need. Uh protein the same thing, you know, like um the the idea of like the eggs like the thing about when you eat eggs in the morning, you're not hungry. You don't as hungry the rest of the day. They'll hold you. They'll keep you full. You know, eggs get a bad name. You can do like uh I know I know people on Weight Watchers, they'll do like a three egg omelet and it fills you up. So, and it's the protein and it's not going to it's not going to put weight on you. See, you see a lot of people who are overweight and because they're buying all the carbs, you know, like Ashley said, you know, they buy all the cereals, they buy all and they just blow up, but yet they're killing themselves because they're not getting the nutrition that they need. Anything else? Yes, we got one actually good for protein. Cara from Trenton says, "If you stick to beans, lentils, and rice, you can make the meals last. It's just not very exciting." Well, you know what? Like I said, the the mac rice and beans has all the amino acid your body needs. Yes, that's a like one of the most nutritional meals you can eat. Throw some chicken in there and you know that works out as well. 1 800 283101.5. Have you ever been on food stamps? Uh, and if you ever had to make the food stamp money last, what do you buy? How do you make it work? 1 800283101.5. Hit us up on the app chat as well. I'm Steve Trevalis. Here's New Jersey 101.5 Fast Traffic 3101.5. Steve Treval, have you ever been on food stamps? The uh food stamp program, they got it covered through October. They're not sure about November. Check out General Solo's column at nj1015.com. Uh New Jersey Department of Human Services warns that interruptions could affect over 965,000 residents relying on nutrition programs. More than 5,000 SNAP accepting stores and community partners are monitoring potential changes in the benefit distribution. So the average person gets $193 a month on SNAP. If you had to live on $193 a month just for one person, you had to feed yourself, that comes out to about $49 a week, right? $45 a week. 4545 901 180. So you still got 13 to play with in there. Uh one guy that came up with a good one, Rob, is um I saw this uh All right, Stephen uh says you could get two Costco pizzas for 20 bucks. probably get three, four days out of that. Uh case of hot dogs or$150 and maybe some dollar store stuff like pasta or rice at Walmart. So I mean you got to think about this. You're feeding yourself it's it's the $45 is seven days. So if a pizza has eight slices in it, what's what's the cost of pizza? 20 bucks. Around 20 bucks. All right. So they're saying Costco pizzas for 20 bucks. Let's say you get let's say you get a good pizza. You go you get a real life pizza. Okay. An honest to god pizza. You get a beats and it cost you say let's say $18 for a good pizza. Um I don't know what's what's a pizza cost. What's it I would probably say it's a regular a regular pizza. I got to say it's about $15. Regular pizza price it's going for around $18. All right. Uh, King's Pizza in Euing. Mhm. Those guys are great. Home of the greatest colock knots ever. What do they charge for a pizza? Say $18. So, let's say $18 and it's eight slices in the pizza. So, eight slices in the pizza, you got seven days in the week. So, if you add a slice of pizza a day, so maybe you have like, you know, you're say what do you do? You have two slices of pizza. That would be a meal, right? So, let's say you could have uh wait, get the phone. You could have two days of pizza, right? 2 4 6 8 Yeah. So, four days. You could have four days of pizza and have have pizza for dinner. Uh Andrew is in Flemington. Andrew, you were on food stamps. Yes. And I used to be uh more so when I was a kid. Uh my thank you for taking my call my friend. Sure. My mom and dad and me were on food stamps. And this is back when I'm so old. This is when food stamps was actually money. It would come in units of 1, 5, 10, and 20, right? Before they ever had families first. And my dad um h I shouldn't say that on the air about my dad, but because this is like a really bad thing he did with Well, I'll tell you anyway. I heard he used to take the dollar food stand to get 35 cents cash so he could go buy beer. So a lot of things he did I wish I never do and most of them I never did. Uh so anyway when you mentioned pizza I my mouth started watering me. Uh if you want to go to the place they used to call Jacks on Main Street, right? Main Street Pizza and Tacos is small, right? I always get it with toppings, but if you get it without toppings, a small pie, six slices is $10.95. A medium is $12.95. Mhm. Yeah. So, you were about right. Yeah. So, you figure So, let's say you get Say you get a pizza for $15. There's eight slices to the pizza. So, that's four days that you can have pizza for dinner. You wouldn't do it every week. I got a couple I Cool. I had a couple ideas. I don't know if anybody's mentioned. Go ahead. Uh chunky soup or progresso soup. really good. That's got expensive, too. Yeah. $34 a can now. Tuna fish. What's that go for? About two a can. Yeah. So, uh also, um if you're going to buy pasta, you might as well go get the whole grain pasta cuz that's got a good amount of fiber like the bowl raisin brand. Mhm. Then I had another idea and I can't remember what it was. Um I'll be here when you Oh, granola mix. granola mix or a trail mix or protein bars on sale, they could be really beneficial. Yeah. But if you're going to buy if you're going to buy a protein bar, make sure it doesn't have too much sugar cuz a lot of times they load it up with sugar. Yeah. No, that that's a good point, Andrew. Thanks for the call. The New Jersey 101.5. Sugar is the root of all evil. Nothing good about sugar. Uh yeah, totally legal. Uh okay, here we go. Uh oh, look at this. Uh Barb, this is a fairly typical weekly grocery shop for me. Uh all bought at Walmart. Uh so here we go. Total price 449. Total cost 44. Wait a minute. Wow. Total cost $44.93. Flour tortillas. Wheat bread. Part skim mozzarell slices 8 ounces. Vanilla Greek yogurt 32 ounces. Dozen eggs. Eight oouncez block cheddar cheese, one cucumber, three Roma tomatoes, three pound bagela apples, four bananas, package of celery, one onion, 15 oz mayo, 12 oz frozen broccoli furrettes, 12 oz frozen mixed vegetables, one lb ground turkey, chilled rotisserie chicken, 15 riata cheese, hunch pasta sauce, 16 box ziti, 15 canned black beans, 5 ounce canned tuna, Taco seasoning packet, 32 ounce chicken broth, bag of rice. Total cost uh d $44.93. Now, partridge in a fan in a pit. How about that? With that, I can make six servings of chicken veggie rice soup, two tuna salad sandwiches, two egg salad sandwiches, six soft tacos or quesadillas with chopped tomatoes and cheddar cheese, two cheese omelettes, eight servings baked ziti with raotta, broccoli and mozzel. Four servings of rice and beans with a teaspoon of taco seasoning and chopped tomatoes. Five servings yogurt with chopped banana. The celery and onion can be used in the soup and tuna and egg salad. There is bread left to make toast and go with the omelets or yogurt. I add slices of cucumber to my lunches. Apples for snacks on a breakfast side. This assumes you have salt, pepper, oil, and vinegar. I am lucky enough to be able to splurge on coffee, milk, baking supplies, herbs, spices, condiments, cleaning supplies. Wow. Uh that's amazing. And the total cost $44.93. That is truly amazing. It is 10. Get it almost every night. And when that moon gets so big and bright, it's super natural delight. Every dancing in the moonlight because that's what we do. All right. 1 800 283 101.5. Steve Treble's dancing in the moonlight until 11:00 tonight. All right. But we're talking about trying to survive on the money that you're allotted if you were collecting food stamps. $193 a month, $45 a week. Can you do grocery shopping on $45 a week? We've heard some heartbreaking stories of guys of people who are living in food stamps and just getting screwed over by various programs in New Jersey. Steve lives in a parking lot in Tom's River, sleeps there with his dog cuz the dog can't get into the apartment that they've allotted for his wife who's ill. uh tomorrow he gets his son back. Uh it's it it breaks your heart to hear the story and what people are spending their money on trying to survive on food in New Jersey. The food stamp program, they got it covered through October, but with the shutdown and the funding cuts and everything, they don't know what's going to happen in November. So, New Jersey residents can access food assistance through October. uh more than 5,000 SNAPs accepting stores and community partners are monitoring potential changes in the benefit distribution. More and more people are relying on uh food banks. Uh we have the app chat and you can always get us on the app chat. I put it up in my social media too. if you had to survive on uh $45 a week. And we just had a really good itemized list here of someone who knows how to do it, spent $44.93 and came up with meals, really good meals for the seven days. So, what do you got in the app chat? We were talking about pizza before. Steve from Ben Salem comes up with a great idea. You have it cut into 16 slices. So then the slices are already down to smaller pieces so that you can map it out even better. We do that when the kids were little and they would have pizza parties. Yeah, you do that and then you cut them up and then you do it like that. Sure. You do it like that. Uh yeah, it's all right. Here we go. Pasta, lunch meat, loaf of bread. See, like I said, the egg, you would want to get eggs and eggs aren't that expensive. Uh the loaf of bread isn't that expensive. You know, they talk about peanut butter, that's protein, bread, peanut butter, jelly, soup, cereal, and eggs. Uh, then we got here rice and hamburger with hot sauce. I mean, that's like one meal, but just the idea, you know, the idea that we got, uh, I think would take the cake. And that's Barb, you know, just basically the way she did it and the way she mapped it out and like how many meals she was able to create out of what she was doing uh really made it work. Uh 1 800283101.5. Like I said, you know, we got the app chat. You could always get us on the app chat. But $45, you know, I go to the supermarket and I come home with not a lot and I realize that I spent a lot. Mhm. And that's the thing that really gets me right now in New Jersey. The average SNAP benefit, 193 a month per person, breaks down to about 650 a day. Now, let that sink in. Could you walk into a grocery store with six bucks and figure out all your meals for that day? Right? That's what we're talking about. Now, in 2012, Senator Cory Booker took the food stamp challenge and he was living on $4 a day for a week. said it was exhausting, humbling, opened his eyes to what so many people quietly live through every day. So, uh 1 800283101.5. Have you ever had to go on food stamps or thought about it? We had Ashley earlier, you know, uh who had gone on food stamps, but it's temporary arrangement. She's going to get off the food stamps. What are your best tricks to stress a tight food stamp budget? And what would you eat if you had 650 a day to survive? And that's what we've been getting on. Uh you could also get us through the app chat. Uh what was the moment that made you apply for food stamps and what did that feel like? You know, you get to the point where I got to eat and and the thing is if the subsidy is available for you, why not take it? You know, you're struggling to make ends meet. You got to do what you got to do. And if it's available, especially all these like, you know, these food pantries, I know people that work in the food pantries and, you know, the the there's nothing more rewarding than doing it because you go and you see families coming and and not the ones who are mooching, but the ones who really need it, the ones who are hungry, you know. Uh, and also like some of the things like what's your cheapest meal hack, you know, and that would be I guess I think for me that would be eggs. The biggest one that I've seen out of the app chats is eggs. That's the big one that you have to have, I believe, because loaf of bread is a close second, but eggs, you could put eggs in anything. That's the big thing. And plus, like they fill you up. Like the bread won't fill you up. The egg will like an egg sandwich. Janelle in Lakewood, I was on Snap after my divorce. I can make rotisserie chicken last four meals. You learn to get creative real fast. You know what the thing with the rotisserie chicken they are? I mean, Sam's Club rotisserie chicken's five bucks. Mhm. It's incredible. It's del and it's big. A lot of other places between seven and 10, but if you go to Sam's and get the rotisserie chicken and Yeah, you can make that last four days. Um, what else? Mike and Tom's River had to use food stamps for about a year after I lost my job. The shame I felt first was at first was real, but it fed my kids and that's what mattered, you know. And that's a very good story, you know. That's a that's a very good point, Rita. If you shop smart, you can make it stretch. Eggs, rice, frozen vegetables, and sales flyers are your best friends. You got to pay attention to the coupons. Like there are Did you have a coupon shop? My parents did for a little bit. They used to cut out the coupons that they needed, put it into a Ziploc bag, keep it on the fridge, and then when you go, you got to bring the Ziploc bag just in case. Yeah. But you make some incredible deals. Like they I've seen news stories where people do the coupons and they actually like make money on the deal cuz they've spent, you know, they they've lo they've spent so much money. Did you ever watch that show of the people who would like who were obsessed with coupons? Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Yeah. Like it was a TV show, but I've seen like things where you know a girl named Donna who just had the coupon bag and she she saves so much money. She actually comes home with money that you know they'll make rebates and stuff. Uh let's see. Kevin, I've never used food stamps, but I think 650 a day is doable. Just uh don't expect steak every night. It is doable. You just have to be real creative. Spend a lot of time on food because I mean I mean thinking about Yeah. I mean that's the thing. You're spend a lot of time thinking about food. On the one hand, you're thinking about what to eat. On the other hand, you think about how hungry you are because you want the food. Yes. I relate to this person, uh, Milo from Trenton. I tried something like this during college. Pasta and canned sauce became my best friends. Has to Well, the can like you get the jar of gravy like the red gravy. Well, if you do like if you do the brown No, this that would be disco fries, right? Potato. You do French fries with brown gravy and some hell over the top. That's disco fries. But um yeah. Well, what's a can of what's like a jar of ragu or a jar a a jar of Yeah. jar of ragu is about what? $2. So, you get a $2 jar of macaroni. So, of gravy and then you buy a box of macaroni, which is like maybe a dollar and a half, $2. And you got spaghetti. You are right on that. It was $3 for uh No, $2 for a jar of ragu. Yeah. $2 for I I do the shopping in my house. You sure you don't want to go on prices, right? You're nailing these prices pretty. Yeah. Really? Right. That'll be where I'll mess it up. You ever gone to the game show? You ever try out for a game show? Uh, no. But I've hosted many and I was I participated in many in schools. Yeah. Yes. Did you ever win? Uh, so technically I did win, but it was during COVID. So during the spelling bee, I cheated. Okay. Cuz like they would tell me, you know, oh, you have to spell this. And I would be on mute and I'd be like faking that I'm coming up with it. My mom would be writing out what the word was and then put it somewhere where it looked like I was looking at something. So, what did you win? Ah, it was just stuff for Well, it was for Greek life. Like, come on. Like, Greek life. Yes. Oh, the frat stuff. Yeah, exactly. You deserve to be the Greek god. They deserve to be cheated on. All right. 18023 101.5. Have you ever been on food stamps? And um what you know, what was it like? You know, did you ever see anybody game the system? You know, we heard Andrew talking about his father would sell the dollars for 35 cents to go buy beer, which is disgusting. Uh, but if you go to nj1015.com, you'll get the full story about the residents who were relying on food stamps being in trouble because of the federal funding uncertainty. Now, we got the, you know, you got the shutdowns. They don't know what's going on. Uh, programs being cut. So, if you're on food stamps and the average person makes $193 a gets $193 a month per person on food stamps, how do you stretch that? How do you make that work? Is New Jersey 101.5 fast traffic? All right. One don 283 101.5 $6.50 a day is what people are living on who are collecting food stamps. If you had to do it, what would you be buying? 1800 283 101.5 $45 a week. If you had to do it, what would you be buying? We're not even talking about like uh the family rate. Some people living on 300 a month and feeding a family of four. You ever heard of such a thing? And now they're not even sure if they're going to be able to keep the food stamp program going. Uh they know they got October sold down, but with the uh federal funding and with the government shutdown, uh they're not sure they have November covered. So, go to nj1015.com, read generous post and find out. Uh, let's get Dawn in Cliffwood Beach. Hi, Dawn. You on New Jersey 101.5? Hi, how you doing? My name is Dawn. I'm from Cliffwood Beach. Uhhuh. And um Okay, I would definitely do this. Okay, I can do this. Okay, let me Now, I'm shopping at ShopRight, right? And the dollar store. Okay, does that matter? Not at all. Okay. All right. So then $3 I'm going to do eggs, right? $4 for potatoes. Okay. A$1.50 for onions. Okay. $3 for bread. All right. That's the Shopright bread. That's $150. I'm going to do two two sauces with um so $1.79 at Shopright each. All right. 1150. Hold on. I'll give you We'll make that $3. All right. 1150 at 13. 12. Four. We'll make that $15. We're going to round that to $15. Okay. I'm going to get um let me see. Four boxes of pasta. And it's usually a dollar, but that's you know. All right. Four. Incredible sale. So, all right. We're going to do can can $19. Okay. Um let me see. $4 peanut peanut butter jelly. Both of them. 23 and 26. Okay. Milk. Milk's like 31 because that's $5, right? Pay half gallon. No, four. $4. All right. We'll take that to It's actually $379 to be honest with you, but okay. I'll take four. That's fine. We'll go to 30. Okay. Now, you got $15 left. Okay. Okay. So, then I would do um let me see. Chopped meat. I would go $10 on that. That's a lot of chop. All right. $10. That's That's That's expensive. All right. Well, you're going to make hamburgers or you're going to make take half of it and make um put it in their sauce, you know. No, I get it. Meat for Okay, you got five hours left. Let me see. Okay. Can of coffee. A can of coffee for $5. Oh, yeah. Don't you like the Don't you want to like the taste of the coffee you drink? I mean, what you're getting chalk full of nuts. We ought to we ought to put together take this guy put together a scene and then play, you know what I mean? Like uh and play it over one of her scenes that that would get attractions to that would get hits on our YouTube channel. Absolutely. We would only be helping the company if we did that. We owe it to them. Not bad. Not bad. Okay. Uh but she also did say in this that she wants to have sex in space. Don't we all? Would that be kind of difficult? Well, you know, because it's weightless. Absolutely. You're just constantly like tumbling. How would you be able to do that? I heard after she said this, Jeff Bezos sent his business card to her 60 seconds later. Not really. Okay. Okay. Uh I I thought Jeff Bezos sent a rocket ship to it 60 seconds later. Uh how can you I don't know, man. Has anyone ever There's there's a trivia question one day. Anyone ever had sex in space? That's someone asked Buzz Aldrin. You know, he wants to learn about all of his I met Buzz Aldrin. He's like a 100 years old. He was inducted into the Jersey Hall of Fame. He was Well, I mean, I can understand why. He was in space, but yeah, that kind of gets you into the But like, you know, I'm one of those people who would ask this question. Well, you see now if she likes 99year-old David Atenboro, maybe she'd want to have sex with 100-year-old Buzz Aldrin. I don't know. I mean I mean right now if I'm an old guy, my my uh you know, my curiosity has been peaked among other things. Do you think Morgan Freeman's disappointed that he wasn't picked? Uh I think he's in he's with Andy Duffrain over at Shank Redemption. All right, what else we got? Okay, so Reddit has tons and tons of side uh like areas that you can find and this woman was on a such as such as relationship advice forum. So she was on the relationship advice forum and she found that her her friend's husband was on a specific point are we dating the same guy group. Ah, that one. As she's looking for advice, she finds her friend spouse who is a 35year-old man with warnings. Anyone considering a date, watch out? Really? Yes. Photos and all, too. It's him. So, what happened? Did she Did she uh keep his secret or did she I mean, she ratted him out or something paper, right? The cat is definitely out of the bag in this one. I absolutely do plan on telling her, but the cat is in divorce court. The cat is the cat is fighting for for custody right now. Okay. So, uh so so what happened? So, she was unsure how she was going to do it because it's how she's going to do what? Exposing how her husband has been lying to her for years. Does she watch cheaters? They could have had the van show up, right? That would have been so good. Well, you're famous in another way. Um because he is because like come on, it's got to be impossible today. I mean, it's got to be impossible uh to fool around the sheet because there are cameras everywhere. They bring up you cannot be you you cannot be anonymous. So, one influencer was caught with her boyfriend. So, she caught her boyfriend because they were using her skin care products via her Ring camera. So, she caught her boyfriend cheating on her because the girlfriend was putting makeup on in the Ring camera. There was hers. Yes. Oh, man. See, that's what I mean. I mean, there's just too much. There's We are We are filmed everywhere we go. Oh, yeah. So, it's not hard. You ever watch like you watched uh crime shows today? What do they do? They go as pull pull the security cameras from like the entire city till we find this guy. I was watching Law and Order last week. The new ones are back and and it was like that. It was a crime. And what did they do? They found the guy cuz they pulled security camera from like a bank across the street for But you never know what you're going to see. Uh so it's it's got to be impossible. Plus the other thing is you don't want somebody, you know, filming you. uh and sending that around. Yeah. Imagine uh that's how you get caught. You're redoing your lipstick in a Ring camera and then that's you and then you realize somebody else Oh, you don't live here alone. How about that? Cuz the ring camera, you can also answer back to it. Cuz my mom, she does that to people when they try to do doortodoor stuff. She's kind of like, you know, the wizard of the door is talking to me. Get away. You know, that's the whole thing because now leave the pizza. Get away. Because that's what I imagine, you know. That's my lipstick. What do you think you're doing? Who said that? I guess that the door identifies as female. That's my lipstick. The door went to a New Jersey middle school and couldn't tell the teacher that it was really that it identified as a as a Dorette. Is Is that what you get with the contractor? Now, look, I know that you wanted a specific door, but this one, it doesn't identify as oak. It actually identifies itself from pinewood. So, I apologize as that. That could be it. You know, that that could be it. But then like the door's reply would be something like this if I could find it. There we go. The door's reply would pretty much be [Music] strange. Knock knock knock alone seem wicked and they identify as doors in New Jersey which is the only state that'll let that happen. All right, what else we got? Okay, speaking of music, yes, MTV will be shutting their following channels in United Kingdom. MTV Music, MTV80s, MTV90s, Club MTV, and MTV Live. Why would they disappear? Why would they do that? Like, why would they shut down? Uh, well, actually, I do know why. I you know I thought I was going to do that as a topic and I realized that it was um not America but are they still operating in America MTV videos? No. So it's the best way to really get MTV now is through Paramount Plus. They even explain this in the article how everything you can still get everything the reality TV shows that are you know the insaness of like Teen Mom or anything like that, right? But you're not going to get the music videos. You're not going to Well, you know what killed the music videos? It's got to be YouTube. Exactly. Uh I mean, are you I remember when MTV came out. As a matter of fact, the very first song played on MTV was this one. Oh, I know. Right. Yeah. I love this song. I always thought that was the cool thing. 1981, the Bugles. And uh guy used to be in Yes. formed The Bugles. And this was the first song ever played. I heard you [Music] and it was such a cool time. 1981. All anybody wanted to do is party. The whole Imagine the whole world like this. You go to clubs, everybody's just having a good time. We used to play this at my fraternity house. Of course you did. Every fraternity house played it. Look, Rob's dancing here. Rob's doing choreography to this. I know. And you know what happened with this? What was revolutionary about it was that like in up until that point like in the 70s uh up until that point rockers were rockers, you know? They got out on stage, they got behind their mic, they played their songs, and every video you ever saw was what? concert footage. There's the guy on the mic singing, right? And they would go, the drummer would be drumming and then go back to the keyboard player. But suddenly they had to become actors and they had to become and you know, you couldn't be ugly anymore. You know, you had to you had to be quafted. You had to be good. You had to, you know, you had to get out there and, you know, because a lot of the videos uh wait, we'll talk more about this. Let me take this. Let me take this quick break. Here's Fastrack. You're talking about MTV. and uh it's going away uh at the end of the year, right? Yes. So, what we're saying is basically uh rockers in the 80s had to not only produce great music but learn how to act and these elaborate videos that became like mini movies. Um I had John Wade on. Uh you ever heard of John Wade? I think so. Hold on. Sang a song called Missing You. played with a band called The Babies. Had a great song called Change. Uh John Weight was living in a Manhattan flat with nothing but a little black and white television and a mattress. He was living on canned beans. And he was starving. And while this was happening, he had the number eight video on MTV. What? And he never got to see it because he didn't have MTV. Uh but he he was saying that you know like when they first came when they first open when they first opened up um there were they only had there's so few videos they would just keep playing these videos in heavy rotation and John Wait went over there and basically he had experience he had produced he was with the babies is in a time was one of their songs uh but he had produced videos with the babies so he understood the idea of making in a video. So he went over there with his video and they had so few that he's his song was in heavy rotation and he goes into I got to get him back on. I got he's going to be at the Mayo Performing Arts Center. What a great guy. What a great guy with a great interview and uh great music on him. But um yeah, but he said that when he made it uh like when he was starving, when he was poor, he you know, he lived in a very poor part of New York. And he said when he made it, he went back to the coffee shop that he always, you know, that's where he had his party. Where he could be around all his friends who knew him when he was nothing and supported him when he was nothing. Uh yeah, but uh but you know, but there he is living on a ma, you know, living on a mattress in a black and white TV in a little, you know, cold water flat and uh he's got the number eight video on MTV. God, when it hit it, but you look, if you think of some of those old videos, if you ever seen them like the video like the Billy Joel songs, the video for Uptown Girl had Christy Brinkley in it. Uh the videos that Springsteen would make with Dancing in the Dark, the videos that Michael Jackson were like the thriller video was a movie. It was 17 minutes. It was a movie. Yeah. Uh but when you go back and Pat Benitar, Shadows of the Night, you know, like when I do the weekends here and I play music, uh a lot of those songs I'll play them and in my mind I'm remembering the video and they were really well done. And the guy, of course, now you could tell how much the record company believed in the artist by the video because, you know, if you saw four guys standing behind microphones, they had a good shot. When you saw monsters being brought in in planes and, you know, uh then you say, "All right, this is these guys. They really believe these guys are going to do something." Well, that was like with the music video that Madonna would come out with. All the all the music videos that Madonna would Well, she had money. She was, you know, she was big budget. Like we did in uh my class that I took for senior, I think it was a senior seminar class, a like a virgin was played so many times that it was like and it was so just very scandalous and not used to something on TV. What college kid doesn't want to see Madonna riding around the floor in a wedding dress? Yes. Really? Of course, it got a lot of play. Uh Oh, yeah. But um my f one of my favorite videos was the aha video take on me with the cartoon and he becomes a cartoon. Yeah, that there was but there was so many you know we one of these nights we could do like we'll do that as a topic. Your favorite MTV video. Uh but then when YouTube came in, you know, it just became a lot easier uh to put them on YouTube and YouTube basically wiped out MTV. I had a very stern conversation with my parents back when YouTube just came out and we're watching music videos and we're watching Katy Perry. We're watching all the ones from like early 2000s. And I remember saying to my mom, "This is just so much easier. How did you guys watch music videos?" And my mom was like, it was like a stab to the heart. Oh, you'd have no idea. MTV. And then just the whole thing came out. MTV wasn't bad. It was just there were commercials which you didn't have. The the difference between MTV and YouTube was that YouTube you could pull it up whenever you wanted it. Oh yeah. Whereas MTV you had to wait for them to play it. So like you I remember the VJs. I was at a party with Mark Goodman once. Uh really cool guy. But the VJs you had there were like there was um they're on the 80s channel and serious now. Nita Blackwood. Uh Martha Quinn. Mark Goodman, Alan Hunter, and Jimmy Johnson and they would just or Jimmy Jackson, Jimmy Johnson's the coach. They would just rotate all day and they would, you know, prefilm them, but it would just be like, you know, they play the intro and they would tell you, right, coming up in 20 minutes going to be like we do with radio. Yes, you're going to get the Billy Joel, but you waited because you just love the way the videos were done. And then at the end of each one, they would put the little in print in the corner, they'd put like the title, the artist, the record company, and all that. Yeah. But man, what a it it was really a good time. It it pretty much is the end of an era. Although the video hasn't died, just the guys giving it to you. I'm no longer around. Yes. And it's the same question you bring up with anything else, you know, like late night TV, you know, just the the way the business have changed. And maybe we'll talk about that tomorrow night when when the boys come in. Uh just, you know, what would you do in an MTV? How can you have a music television that's not playing music? But we'll play music right now. Great job by you. [Music]
