The federal Transportation Security Administration has suspended an employee at Newark Liberty Airport for a security breach.

Officials say that last Thursday, a security worker failed to screen two bags before sending them to a staging area to be put on two international flights.

TSA spokeswoman Lisa Farbstein tells The Star-Ledger says the problem was discovered before the planes took off as scheduled. She says a suspension for a breach is rare. But she would not say how the breach was detected or identify the flights involved.
