WEST LONG BRANCH — That wasn't the commander in chief who made an appearance on the Monmouth University grounds on Tuesday. It was his comedic dead ringer.

Alec Baldwin, who has featured prominently on NBC's "Saturday Night Live" portraying President Donald Trump, appeared to have brought the character across the Hudson River for what school spokesman Mark Blackmon called a "private event."

Pictures of the actor in his Trump attire were taken by George Germek, an associate professor and head of Special Collections at the school. Germek said on Facebook that has since been deleted that he first noticed Baldwin when he was leaving the library on his lunch break. Images previously published here have also been removed at the Germek's request.

"He was standing in front of the library to get a White House look," he said. "And, he had a bucket of KFC chicken in his hand."

While Germek guessed Baldwin was in town to film a skit for the sketch comedy show, Blackmon said while he was unsure why he was on campus, if it was for SNL he likely would have been made aware. The show also wrapped its 42nd season last month with no word on when the new season might start.
