ORANGE — Two people are dead, including a young boy, following a fatal shooting in Essex County on Thursday afternoon.

According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the incident took place on the 300-block of Cleveland Street in Orange. In a statement, authorities said they are in the "preliminary stages" of their investigation, which involves the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force and the township police.

Authorities say an adult male, believed to be in his 20s, and a male toddler were both killed in the shooting. The names and ages of the victims have not been released. Authorities have not yet announced an arrest in connection with the incident.
