There were a couple of stories from around New Jersey this week about unusual items being stolen. One being hundreds of pumpkins from a Wayne based pumpkin farm, as well as a Snoopy Halloween decoration robbery in Hillsdale. Hasn't Snoopy had a hard enough month? He was just fired from MetLife last week.

What is it about pumpkins that makes them so irresistible to thieves? Is it their obvious portability? I don’t think so, because I’ve had pumpkins stolen that were huge and decidedly NOT portable. They just wound up smashed in the street. Is it the inherent “prank” sensibility that comes with Halloween? Tell the farmer who had thousands of dollars worth of pumpkins stolen that it was a “prank.” I’ve also had a barbecue grill, decorative rocks and a gas cap stolen, because people are just that weird.

What is the strangest thing you've ever had stolen from you? Let us know @NJ1015 on Twitter or in the comments below.
