Tuesday is the deadline to register to vote in the June 7 presidential primary. Unaffiliated voters have til the day of the vote if they'd like to join a party.

The Supreme Court argued Monday over whether states fighting voter fraud and illegal immigration can make people document their U.S. citizenship before allowing them to use a federal voter registration system that was designed to make it easier to vote.

Spurred by false Internet reports, emails are spreading like wildfire containing incorrect information about what New Jersey voters need to do in order to be eligible to vote in next month's national election. Voting rights advocates are now trying to set the record straight.

More than 30 states currently have laws in place that require voters to present identification at the polls before they cast their ballots this November. In some states, a voter ID law has been on the books for decades. New Jersey does not carry such a law.

On Election Day in 2008, according to the U.S. Census Bureau, 42% of the nation's youth was not registered to vote. A student group in New Jersey hopes to give that percentage a boost this year.
