Some random thoughts on seeing Paul and Ringo perform together last night on the Grammys - who would have thought that 50 years later, Paul and Ringo would still steal the show? The two former Beatles performed together for the first time since Radio City in 2009.

October 26th, 1970 - A wake is held in San Anselmo, California to celebrate the life of Janis Joplin who had died of an accidental overdose and had left $2,500 in her will to throw a party in the event of her demise. February 15th, 1968 - John Lennon and George Harrison, joined by their wives, flew to India to study meditation under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Ringo and Paul would later join them however

December 15th, 1956 - A phrase is born when Elvis Presley gave his final performance on a live radio program in Louisiana. At the end of the show, the DJ uttered the now legendary phrase "Elvis has left the building."  Presley had made 50 appearances on that particular radio show throughout his career.

October 13th 1965 - The Who record 'My Generation' at Pye studios in London. The single would almost be a chart topper when released, however it was held off of hitting the No.1 position by The Seekers' 'The Carnival Is Over'. As for the stuttering, singer Roger Daltrey would later say that he stuttered the lyrics to try and match them to the music...

August 18th 1962 - Ringo Starr makes his first appearance with The Beatles and with that, the Beatles as we know them are finally complete.  It was at the Horticultural Society dance in England after having a two-hour rehearsal in preparation.

June 17th 1971 - Carole King's 'Tapestry" album goes to No. 1 on the US album chart for the first of 15 weeks.

March 25th 1968 - The last episode of The Monkees television show airs. The idea of following the hi-jinks of a rock band's life was taken from the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night film.
