State officials on Friday released video that shows the deadly school bus crash in May that killed an 10-year-old student and a teacher and injured dozens more.
The legislation was passed in response to the fatal school bus crash in May that killed elementary school teacher Jennifer Williamson and 10-year-old student Miranda Vargas.
A letter from David Fried, the attorney for the family of Miranda Vargas, the student killed in the crash, was included with the rejection explaining it would be "cruel and unusual" to release the files and urged they not be released.
Even though the driver has not been accused of wrongdoing by authorities, the owners of the dump truck involved in the fatal crash of a school bus on Route 80 on May 17 are being hit with a lawsuit.
