A southern New Jersey doctor has been sentenced to two years in federal prison for charging Medicare for house calls she claimed were longer than they actually were.
Governor Chris Christie’s Administration is urging consumers and health care providers to beware of unscrupulous or fraudulent activities during the annual Medicare open enrollment period, which runs from October 15 through December 7, 2012.
Medicare officials say competitive bidding for power wheelchairs, diabetic supplies and other personal medical equipment is clamping down big-time on waste and fraud. The savings last year -- some $200 million.
