Drugmaker Merck says it plans to reduce its global workforce by another 8,500 jobs as part of a plan to cut its annual costs by about $2.5 billion by the end of 2015.
American Express says it will slash roughly 5,400 jobs, mainly in its travel business, as it seeks to cut costs and transform its operations as more of its customers shift to online portals for booking travel plans and other needs.
