Jet Star roller coaster removal

Earlier this week, the Jet Star roller coaster was taken down in Seaside Heights.

On the same day workers began removing the Jet Star roller coaster from the Atlantic Ocean, Casino Pier officials in Seaside Heights announced a new amusement for summer 2013.

The symbol of Superstorm Sandy's wrath on New Jersey is on its way out.

It's demolition day for the Jet Star Roller Coaster in Seaside Heights, NJ. The roller coaster became a symbol of Sandy's destruction at the Jersey Shore when it fell into the Atlantic Ocean following the Casino Pier collapse.

A barge is working to begin the removal of the Jet Star roller coaster from the water off Seaside Heights.

Tomorrow, work will begin to remove the beloved Jet Star roller coaster from the Atlantic Ocean.  It's become a symbol of the destruction and devastation caused by Sandy.  The cherished ride plummeted into the water when Casino Pier was dismantled by the storm.

Remarkably, a great deal of progress has been made to Restore NJ and to rebuild Seaside Heights' popular boardwalk.
