I was at my friend Cat Cosentino’s CD release party this week in Asbury Park and while I was thrilled with Cat’s new CD “Box of Chocolates” and enjoyed her performance, I met a most unique individual that is truly making a difference not only here in New Jersey but across the country.

It's the holiday season, and for many New Jersey families, it's the most wonderful time of the year. For others, however, it is the greatest time of need.

Its been a double-whammy for foodbanks throughout the state -- first Hurricane Irene, followed by the October snowstorm.

The Food Bank of South Jersey says it's facing a financial shortfall as it serves more people and sees less federal money. Food bank CEO Val Traore says $265,000 shortfall could reach $300,000 by the end of the year. The food bank is hoping the Delaware River Port Authority will make good on its 2009 pledge for $2 million for it and two other food banks...
