The head of U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee has called for hearings next month on the proposed merger between the DuPont Co. and Dow Chemical, as well as on broader issues of consolidation within the seed and chemical industry.
The merger would combine two companies that sell agricultural products to millions of farmers around the world, and make a variety of chemicals for consumer and industrial products ranging from electronics, automobiles, and household goods to building materials and safety equipment.
The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has fined DuPont $750,000 Protection for violations of safety and environmental standards at a facility just across the Delaware Memorial Bridge.
