A study of the top 20 New York State community colleges lists two from the Southern Tier. Even better, these two community colleges landed in the top 5.
Certain credential, certificate and degree programs will be offered at Hudson County Community College, New Jersey Institute of Technology, and Camden County College.
It is much too soon for either New Jersey's higher education institutions or Gov. Phil Murphy to be able to issue any definitive decisions or guidance, but the Garden State's 18 community colleges are expecting many students will lean on them in the fall.
Community college students have until Sept. 15 to apply for financial aid and – if their incomes are $65,000 or less – have a tuition-free school year.
The program's first semester cost around $20M for grants to students. Murphy sought $58.5M for two semesters. Lawmakers OK'd $25M – and expanded eligibility.
