Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band opened their show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn with a tribute to Prince. The stage was lit purple as they played Purple Rain to honor the iconic musician who passed away this week.

As Bruce Springsteen starts his new River Tour throughout the country, it reminded me of the first River Tour that Bruce made back in 1980 and 1981. The concert tour was least remembered by those who never attended it.

July 25th, 1970 - The Carpenters start a four week run at No.1 on the singles chart with 'Close To You'. It's the first of three No.1's and 17 other Top 40 hits.

July 18th,1992 - Whitney Houston marries Bobby Brown at her estate right here in New Jersey. Those in attendance included Stevie Wonder, Gloria Estefan, and Patti LaBelle.

July 19th 1975 - Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band has a marathon rehearsal session the day before kicking off their Born To Run tour. They practiced for a full 19 hours at The Record Plant in New York City to get ready.

April 19th, 1974 – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band appear at the State Theatre in New Brunswick. Tickets are just $4.50 and the promoter of the event takes a gamble that word-of-mouth will be enough to fill the 550 seats, however, only 250 attend.
