The Summer of 2012 will be remembered as a hot one, filled with powerful thunderstorms and several power outages. Jersey Central Power and Light is urging all property owners and their customers to be mindful of potential problems on your property.

Its been a wild summer of storms in New Jersey, but utility companies say putting a price tag on the damage could take months.

President Barack Obama has declared Atlantic, Cumberland, and Salem counties as major disaster areas as a result of the severe thunderstorms of June 30.

Thousands of Atlantic County residents remain without power this morning ahead of another heat wave expected to extend throughout the weekend. The county is offering water, ice to those affected by the outages.

Thousands were without electricity, downed trees were blocking roadways, utility poles were destroyed and debris was scattered all over sections of South Jersey, the result of a severe thunderstorm.

Atlantic City Electric has apparently met its goal of having 90% of those who lost power during Saturday's storm  back on line by midnight Wednesday night.
