Black lawmakers and advocacy groups are advocating for legislative leaders to hold hearings in March on a bill creating a New Jersey Reparations Task Force.
Proposal follows a 2020 task force report about rising incidents of youth bias. Bill also allows people to seek punitive damages through a civil lawsuit.
High school students would be taught about diversity and inclusion, under one bill. Another adds racial discrmination and social justice in middle schools.
JCP&L bore the brunt of the criticism as lawmakers summoned the power company leaders to a virtual hearing on the outages caused by Tropical Storm Isaias.
