Leonia police tell The Record that 40-year-old Brian Ambrose beat a cabbie and stole his cab in Manhattan early Monday. He then drove it into Palisades Park.

Ambrose eventually ended up driving on a sidewalk in Leonia for about a block before the cab became wedged. He then tried to flee on foot but was soon captured.

Authorities say two Palisades Park officers were injured, including one whose face was cut by the cab's door. And a Leonia officer was hurt when Ambrose allegedly head-butted him.
