UPDATE: The roadway has since been cleared.

A jackknifed tractor trailer brought the morning commute to a crawl on Route 295 in Mercer County on Thursday morning.

New Jersey State Police said the jackknifed tractor trailer blocked all the lanes at Route 1 in Lawrence Township with traffic getting by only on the right shoulder. The driver was trapped in the cab but was extricated and not injured, according to police, who said no other vehicle was involved.

The Mercer County Hazardous Material team arrived around 8:30 a.m. to help with fuel leaking from the truck according to police.

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Jill Myra said the lanes were still blocked as of 10:30 a.m. Roads leading to Route 295 including Route 195, Route 33 and Sloan Avenue were also backed up by the big delays created by the incident.

It was the second jackknifed tractor trailer of the morning in that area. A pick up truck hauling a trailer hit a tractor trailer on the northbound New Jersey Turnpike truck lanes early in the morning commute on Thursday temporarily closing the truck lanes.
