BERNARDS — A truck that ran off Route 287 on Wednesday afternoon overturned and started a brush fire snarling  traffic on Route 287 in Somerset County on Wednesday afternoon.

State Police said the truck, pulling a flatbed with a 30,000-pound empty dumpster went into the woods and started a small brush fire on the southbound side near Exit 26 for Mt. Airy Road in Bernards, closing the roadway for the cleanup and investigation.

Police said the truck was the only vehicle involved in the accident. It was not known what caused the driver to lose control.. The driver' condition was not known by police

New Jersey Fast Traffic's Bob Williams suggests using Route 202 as an alternate route around the delay. "It's slower but you won't be sitting in the delay."
