NJ Transit Offers Bundle Packages To Shore Visitors [AUDIO]

Rather than slog through summer traffic, the New Jersey Transit system wants beach goers to take advantage of packages that bundle transportation and passes to five of the shore's top shore spots.

Riders departing from either New York or North Jersey stations will be able to purchase discounted fare and beach badge bundles for Long Branch, Ocean Grove, Asbury Park, Bradley Beach, and Belmar.

Packages from New York Penn State or any station on the Main, Bergen County, Pascack Valley Lines (except Metro-North) can be purchased for $31.50, and Hoboken Terminal or Newark Penn Station riders pay $23.50.

The packages will be available on Friday June 7th, 14th, and 21st as well as each weekend. They will be sold daily starting Monday June 24th and continuing until Labor Day.

Additionally, NJ Transit Public Information Officer Nancy Snyder says visitors to Long Branch and Asbury Park stations will have free access to Shore EZ Ride Jitneys which take riders to the water as well as restaurants, shopping, and nightlife destinations.

With the parkway and route 35 often resembling a parking lot, Snyder says the program will give motorists and beach goers some relief.

"Basically taking people off the roads and out of traffic and giving them a nice smooth ride to shore destinations."

In addition to bundling shore passes and fares together, Snyder says NJ Transit is also offering discounts for Six Flags Great Adventure, Monmouth Park, Mountain Creek Waterpark, Field Station: Dinosaurs, and Newark Bears as well as Camden River Sharks baseball games.

Snyder says the new North Jersey Coast Line schedule will begin Sunday, June 2nd and will include Summer Shore service on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. During which, hourly trains will run between Bay Head and Long Branch from 7 a.m till 10 p.m. There will also be express trains from New York Penn Station and Long Branch.

For busy families dreading the trip to their summer destination, Snyder says mass transit is a good option to consider.

"It really gives them exclusive time together as they travel to the shore destination or perhaps Great Adventure."
