NJ Transit Brings Back Another Rail Line

More help is on the way for New Jersey rail commuters hamstrung by Superstorm Sandy.

NJ Transit says it's returning another commuter rail line suspended by the storm. And Amtrak says it's due to complete work on a key substation by Friday.

On Wednesday morning, service on NJ Transit's Montclair-Boonton Line will resume from Hackettstown to Hoboken and New York.

The agency says eastbound trains will operate once an hour until noon. In the afternoon, limited service will operate to New York only. After 1 p.m., westbound service will run every 60 to 90 minutes.

Amtrak said Tuesday that repairs on the Kearny substation should be done by Friday. The substation suffered heavy flood damage and has restricted the number of trains NJ Transit can run into New York.
