New Jersey's Health Department says patients who qualify for medical marijuana will be able to sign up at a second legal dispensary beginning next week.

The announcement is a sign that Compassionate Care Foundation in Egg Harbor Township is getting close to its planned opening in September.

The dispensary was granted a state license in June to grow marijuana.

Registered patients can switch dispensaries at any time, but they need to register the change with the state.

The only dispensary that has operated since the state passed a law to allow pot for patients with certain conditions has been closed since late June because of limited inventory. It's not clear when Greenleaf Compassion Center in Montclair may reopen.
