WOODBINE — A Camden County man who police say uploaded pictures and videos of child pornography in his New Jersey home is also wanted in South Carolina on charges of trying to to have sex with a 13-year-old girl.

Attorney General Christopher Porrino said a search warrant was issued for the home of Shawn Patrick Rose, 20, on Thursday morning. Investigators at the scene found "numerous files of child pornography."

Porrino said an investigation into Rose started when the state received a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited children about a person uploading child pornography to a file-hosting service. A review of the files that had been uploaded included one video of a young girl being raped by an adult male, Porrino said.

Tracing both the email and IP address to Rose, Porrino said they found a social media site where Rose had allegedly been talking to children about sexually explicit topics. This included the 13-year-old girl in South Carolina who authorities say sent Rose sexually explicit images and engaged in sex acts during video chats.

Porrino called Rose a "dangerous predator who now faces charges in two states."

"Because of the global nature of the internet, alleged online predators like Rose typically don't confine their criminal conduct to one state," Director Elie Honig of the Division of Criminal Justice said. "Fortunately, law enforcement agencies are collaborating effectively across state lines to ensure these offenders face justice for all of their crimes, as exemplified in this case."

In New Jersey, Rose is charged with third-degree possession of child pornography, which carry a sentence of three to five years in prison and a fine of up to $15,000. In South Carolina he faces two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.

Porrino and Honig said anyone who suspects a person improper contact by an adult with a child on the internet, as well as possible exploitation or sexual abuse, to contact the New Jersey Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force Tipline at 1-888-648-6007.

Rose is being held in the Cape May County Jail pending a detention hearing.

He did not have an attorney Thursday who could speak on his behalf.
