NJ Attorney Sentenced For Tax Evasion

Federal prosecutors say a northern New Jersey defense attorney who has not filed income tax returns since 2000 has been sentenced to 30 months in prison.

Francis Cutruzzula also must serve three years of supervised relief once he's freed from prison term and pay $6,000 in fines under the sentence imposed Wednesday.

The 49-year-old River Vale resident also agreed to be permanently disbarred in New Jersey and must pay $238,235 he owes in taxes.

Cutruzzula had pleaded guilty to two counts of tax evasion and one count of failure to file a tax return. The sole proprietor of his law practice in Jersey City, he also owned FSC Imports -- which hasn't filed a corporate income tax return since 2002.
