New Jersey's U.S. attorney's office says Louis Holmes was sentenced Thursday in federal court in Newark.

Prosecutors say the 25-year-old Newark resident previously pleaded guilty to three counts of carjacking and one count of brandishing a firearm during the course of a violent crime.

The U.S. attorney's office says Holmes admitted to participating with others in two armed carjackings in Newark and one in Jersey City on March 27, 2012.
