An Australian newspaper has come up with a novel way of measuring how uncomfortable certain airline seats are; they call it the Numb Bun Index.

According to the Herald Sun, a first class suite on an A340 has a Numb Bun score of 0 and a comfort rating of 10. At the other end of the index, a seat on an Australian Air Force plane rates a 9.5 on the NBI with a comfort factor of 0. I think this is a really terrific idea that needs to be expanded to include office chairs, the front seats of a car, recliners, virtually anything that you sit on or in. Toilet seats would be a logical extension. I'm sure there are plenty of other seats that could be rated; I'm just not thinking of them right now.
