One person has died in a two-alarm fire in Brielle that sent thick black smoke into the air over Monmouth and Ocean counties on Tuesday morning.

Pictures tweeted of the fire on Tamarack Drive show a two-story brick home that looks to be a total loss. Brielle Police said there were several fire companies that responded to the blaze in the neighborhood just off Route 70.

Police confirmed one fatality but did not disclose that person's identity.

The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office is investigating the fire.
