Miss NJ Lindsey Giannini joins teen with leukemia for homecoming dance

It took four years, but Miss New Jersey Lindsey Giannini finally gets to go to a homecoming dance.

Lindsey Giannini has accepted an invitation from Marcus Josey, a senior at Northeastern High School in Manchester, Pa. who has battled B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia for the last six months, according to the York Daily News. The dance is Saturday night.

Giannini missed her own senior homecoming dance because she was attending a community service event.

"She was one of my favorites so I guess I picked her," Josey told the newspaper. "And my dad is from New Jersey and told me everything is better in New Jersey. So I kind of went with his instinct and reached out to her."
