LINDEN — A Sayreville man was arrested for exposing himself to several children inside the Linden Public Library.

In an incident captured on surveillance video, Police Captain James Sarnicki said Daniel Ruiz, 26, walked up to several kids in the children's  reading section on Tuesday afternoon, exposed himself and then left the library on a bicycle. The video also helped show the total number of children present.

After police distributed a screenshot of Ruiz. Sarnicki said an officer from neighboring Rahway recognized him and police went to several addresses looking for him. Police eventually arrested Ruiz in Sayreville and brought him back to Linden.

Ruiz was charged with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact, four counts of endangering the welfare of a child, and four counts of lewdness. He is being held pending $400,000 bail at the Union County Jail.
