The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports about 25 percent of all deaths in the Garden state are due to heart disease.

The website – njha.com/heartfailure – covers such topics as What is Heart Failure? Understanding your condition, Find Support groups, How to food shop, Start walking and Manage your medicines.

According to Aline Holmes, Director of the Jersey Hospital Association Institute for Quality and Patient Safety, the site will help patients “make lifestyle changes so they can better manage and even improve their symptoms.”

Featured on the site is a slideshow with extensive text and audio discussion of heart failure; a feature for finding nearby walking paths; a tutorial on nutrition and how to read food labels to avoid excess sodium, as well as information on medications prescribed for heart failure.
