Despite the fact that the daylight hours are getting very short and temperatures struggle to hit 70 , we're entering the most gorgeous time of the year.

Mother nature is beginning to paint the leaves with brilliant colors.  In a couple of weeks our trees will be at their breathtaking peak.

As you drive on the Garden State Parkway or just through your own neighborhood, take in the sights and enjoy this gift.  Please keep your eyes on the road too.

I mentioned earlier that it's getting chilly.  Perfect weather for you joggers, or for taking long walks.

Right now there are plenty of things to keep us entertained and engaged.

The N.F.L. and college football are in full swing.  The N.H.L. kicks off the regular season this week.  Of course the Phils, Mets, and Yankees are toast for 2014.  In spite of that we can enjoy the baseball playoffs.

Not a sports fan?  No problem.

The TV shows, with few exceptions, are all new.  The re-run season is over.

One of the most enjoyable features of my house is my fireplace.  If you are fortunate enough to have one, it is so comforting to have a roaring fire going on a chilly evening.

When the leaves and the temperature descend it's a fun time in the kitchen.  We're talkin' about hearty food.  How can you beat the aroma of roasts, stews and soup wafting through the house.  Baking a batch of Toll House cookies or an apple pie is a fun fall thing to do.

And finally, the holidays.

Have you carved your pumpkin yet?  Halloween is a blast for the kids and for us too.

Thanksgiving is a wonderful holiday.  Food, food, and more food, and football.  We can't omit The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.  The best thing about Thanksgiving?  It's shared with family and friends.

Right after Thanksgiving, need I remind you, the holiday season really ramps up.  Christmas will be just weeks away.  You have your "black Friday" and "cyber Monday."

I'm exhausted just thinking about it.

The first day of Hanukkah begins on Tuesday night December 16th.  Technically that joyous holiday begins when it's still fall.

Autumn is full of fun.  Enjoy it.  Embrace it.
