The (Norristown) Times Herald says 26-year-old Luckenson Desrivieres of Irvington, N.J., was sentenced Monday in Montgomery County Court.

A jury in April convicted the defendant of first- and third-degree murder in the June 2012 slayings of 23-year-old Marc Estiverne and 26-year-old Shamara Hill in Norristown.

Prosecutors said he stabbed the victims multiple times after overhearing a phone conversation in which he believed Estiverne was "snitching" on him

Defense attorney John McMahon Jr. said his client acted in self-defense.

He vowed Monday to appeal, saying he would challenge admission of the defendant's statements to a federal Department of Homeland Security official.
